The Curse of Voodoo

Scratch, Molly, and Darryl had just returned home from school. Molly and Scratch were both happy, but Darryl was grumpy for some reason.

"Man, you look grumpier than I usually am." Scratch commented.

"Yeah. What happened?" Molly asked.

"It's that stupid Andrea." Darryl said. "All week so far she's been... well herself."

"I know she' still a complete snob, but she has gotten better."

"Only around you, Molly! If you weren't related to the rest of us, she would've done nothing! Do you even know what she did to me!?"

Flashback

On Monday, Darryl drove a new kart he made all the way to school via the sidewalks so he could show it off to the other kids. Unfortunately, Andrea had the same idea, but with her pony which all who saw it loved.

"I know. My adorable pet is way better than any old vehicle." she bragged.

On Tuesday, Darryl was carrying a science project to class. He worked hard on it since day one and was sure he'd get an A+. Then Andrea came along.

"Out of my way!" she shoved Darryl, causing him to fall on his project and break it.

"NOOOOOOOO!" Darryl cried out.

On Wednesday, Darryl brought Heidi his tarantula to school to show her to some of the other students. Turns out Andrea hates spiders even more than Molly.

"AHHHHH! A LITTLE SPIDER MONSTER!" she pulled out a can of bug-spray and tried to kill Heidi.

Luckily Darryl and Heidi got away before any damage was done, but he was still not happy.

And today, Darryl was getting ready for swim class in the changing room when he remembered leaving something in the pool room. He figured he could quickly get it without being seen in his underwear, so that's what he tried to do. Guess what happened.

"OMG! Darryl likes to run around in his underwear!" Andrea said as her phone streamed the embarrassed boy for the whole world to see.

End Flashback

"I've never been so humiliated in my life!" Darryl shouted.

"Ouch." Scratch said.

"I wish I could do something about all those things." Molly said.

"Thanks anyway." Darryl went straight to his room.

In said room, Darryl put his backpack on his bed and pulled something out of his closet. It was some kind of little figure of a person with a little pale blue hair glued to the head. Darryl sat on his bed and started beating on the toy in anger. Then Scratch came into the room.

"Hey, Darryl. Normally I'd only come in when you aren't here, but Molly begged me to see how you're..." he saw the figure. "What are you doing?"

"Eh, I'm just pretending I can use voodoo." Darryl explained. "I found some of Andrea's hair a while ago and thought I'd see if I can make a voodoo doll to use on her. It didn't work. So now I just throw my anger at this."

"What even made you think you could do something like that?"

"Duh. I figured if ghosts are real, then maybe so is voodoo..." Darryl suddenly realized something.

Scratch quickly caught on too. They both smiled evilly before Darryl handed Scratch the doll.

"Do it." he said.

"I'll be right back." Scratch took the toy. "Curses only effect people when they are in person."

He flew out of the house and all the way to Andrea's mansion where she was admiring herself in her room. Scratch floated behind her unseen and unheard and began his curse. Andrea was too focused on herself to notice her room become creepily warped.

"I CURSE YOU, ANDREA DAVENPORT! WHATEVER IS DONE TO THIS DOLL SHALL HAPPEN TO YOU! AS OF RIGHT NOW, THIS SEPARATE OBJECT IS A PART OF YOU!"

The whole room went back to normal and Scratch went back home.

"Mission accomplished." he said after returning to Darryl's room.

"Excellent." Darryl said with the doll in his hands. "Tomorrow I get my revenge. Heh-heh-heh-hehhhhh."

The next day, Darryl was hiding in the janitor's closet with the door slightly open, waiting for Andrea to walk down the school hallway. Then Scratch appeared next to him.

"Hey, Scratch. Come to enjoy the show?" Darryl said.

"You bet!" Scratch replied. "This is waaaayyyy too fun to miss."

Just then, Andrea was in sight.

"First, let's test it." Darryl tapped the doll's shoulder.

Andrea turned around and was completely confused.

"Did somebody tap my shoulder?" she asked.

Then when she started walking again, Darryl tripped the doll, causing her to trip and fall onto the floor.

"Okay so far, this isn't very entertaining." Scratch said.

"I know." Darryl replied. "Which is why the test is over."

As Andrea stood back up, Darryl raised his hand high and started spanking the doll's butt over and over.

"OW! OH! OW! AH! EEH! OW!" Andrea cried out from each and every hit.

Scratch was laughing like a crazy hyena at her expense. After a lot more spanking, Darryl stopped.

"Alright, who was swatting my butt!?" Andrea shouted.

Instead of an answer, all she got was laughter from everyone in the hallway.

"That's enough for now." Darryl whispered. "I don't wanna get caught or be late for class. But I'm not done yet."

Later, Darryl somehow snuck outside and found Andrea in class through a window with Scratch still by his side. He pulled out the doll from his jacket and continued his revenge. This time he moved the doll's arm and made it punch itself. Then Andrea immediately after punched herself much to her and everyone else's confusion. Darryl made it happen over and over, causing Scratch to laugh again.

"Stop hitting yourself." *POW*

"Stop hitting yourself." *POW*

"Stop hitting yourself." *POW*

Nobody in the classroom could understand what was happening, especially Andrea.

"Why am I hitting myself!?" *POW*

"Why am I hitting myself!?" *POW*

"Why am I hitting myself!?" *POW*

Darryl couldn't help laughing at his own actions against Andrea.

"Wait wait wait, Darryl." Scratch said. "Let me see that doll. I got a good one."

Darryl gave him the doll and Scratch started twisting his own arms which quickly spun it several times. Andrea herself then started spinning like an out of control top. When Scratch stopped, Andrea was so dizzy that she struggled to walk in any direction. Then he spun it back the other way. Andrea spun out of control again.

"Andrea! Stop this at once!" the teacher said.

"I can't!" Andrea cried out.

By the time she was done spinning, her face turned green and she left the room to try to find a private place to barf.

"Hahahahahahaha! That really was good!" Darryl said.

"Why thank you." Scratch bowed before giving back the doll. "This is the most fun I've ever had with a curse."

Around the middle of the day, Molly entered the cafeteria and noticed that Andrea was a little off for some reason.

"Are you Okay, Andrea?" she asked.

"I'm fine." Andrea rudely answered before walking off.

Molly shrugged, found Libby at a table and joined her for lunch.

"No Scratch today?" Libby asked.

"Actually, he's with Darryl." Molly happily explained. "He said he'd try to cheer him up today and so far it's working."

"It's really nice to see those two have fun together, isn't it?"

"Yes it is."

A few seconds later, Molly's smile disappeared.

"What the heck are they doing?"

During the last school hour, Darryl and Scratch hid on the roof where they could see Andrea walking around.

"It's showtime again." Darryl pulled out a bucket of ice and shoved the doll into it.

Shortly afterwards, Andrea started shaking and holding herself like she was in a blizzard.

"W-w-w-why is it so c-c-c-cold all of a s-s-s-sudden?" she asked.

Everyone who was outside looked at her like she was nuts. Darryl and Scratch just snickered at her expense.

"My turn." Scratch pulled the doll out of the bucket and burped at it's face.

Andrea sniffed the air and suddenly looked like she saw the grossest thing ever.

"Ewwww! What is that horrible smell!?"

All her questions were doing was making her look crazier after each one.

"No way. You can make her smell things?" Darryl asked.

"Yup. You can make her hear things too." Scratch replied. "Wanna try?"

"Oh yeah. I have just the thing for her."

After Scratch gave back the doll, Darryl pulled out two air horns and held them on either side of it's head.

*HOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNK!*

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Andrea covered her ears from the painful sound.

Everyone was even more confused now.

"And now for a little makeover." Darryl then rubbed the top of the doll's head like crazy.

"Ah! Hey! What's going on with my head!?" Andrea felt like someone was giving her one heck of a noogie.

Once Darryl stopped, Andrea's hair poofed into what looked like an electric afro. Anyone and everyone who saw her bursted out laughing.

"Ahhhh! My hair!" Andrea ran off as everyone was still laughing at her.

"That was perfect!" Scratch laughed.

"I know. Right?" Darryl agreed as he put the doll away.

"Darrrrrylllll!? Scraaaaaaatch!?" Molly called from below.

"Uh-oh. Quick, to the ground." Darryl whispered.

Scratch carried Darryl off of the roof and down to the ground a few feet behind Molly.

"Hey, sis."

"Hiya, Moll."

Molly suspiciously looked at the troublesome duo.

"So, how's your day together been?" she asked.

"Lot's of fun." Darryl said.

"Yeah. lookin forward to the rest." Scratch added.

"Well it's nice to know you two aren't causing any trouble."

"Yup. No trouble whatsoever." Scratch lied.

"Well, bye." Darryl said.

He and Scratch went off to another part of the school indoors. However, Molly wasn't buying a word of it. She pulled out her phone and asked
"Anything out of the ordinary?"

"Only one thing." Libby replied from the halls. "Andrea claims that strange things have been happening to her all day. She just finished fixing her
hair from some static mishap."

"Just as I thought. A revenge scheme." Molly said. "You spy on the culprits. I'll keep an eye on the target."

After school ended, Andrea carefully walked down the road, afraid that something might happen to her again. Eventually she felt like she was finally safe, so she went to the park and sat on a bench before pulling her phone out of her purse and recording herself.

"Hello, Fandreas. Today I'm going to..." Andrea started sounding nasally mid-sentence. "...tell you how I make my hair...Hey! Why do I sound like I'm holding my nose!?"

Little did she know that she was being watched by a hidden camera wirelessly connected to a laptop resting on the lap of Darryl McGee hiding in the bushes with Scratch.

"Because I'm doing it for you." Darryl said before letting go of the doll's nose. "Heh-heh-heh."

"Ah. That's better." Andrea said. "Now then, I was ab-B-B-B-B-B-B-B-B-B-B-B-B-B-B-B-B-"

She quickly covered her mouth, realizing that it was happening again.

"Oh no."

This time however, Molly was watching Andrea from behind a tree with her phone in her hand.

"Bloodhound of Truth, this is Happy Bunny." she said. "It's happening. Do you see the culprits doing anything?"

"Affirmative." Libby answered from up in another tree. "They are hiding in the bushes near the statue of Sally Tugbottom and using a laptop. I also see... Wait. Is Andrea by any chance slapping herself silly right now?"

Molly watched Andrea indeed slap herself silly while standing up and said "Yes. How did you know that?"

"Apparently Darryl and Scratch are using a voodoo doll."

"I'm on my way." Molly hung up and ran to where her friend mentioned.

After Darryl stopped making Andrea slap herself, he let Scratch have a go at the doll.

"Alright, let's go for a classic." Scratch pulled the doll's legs into a full split.

Andrea's legs did the same thing and hurt like crazy.

"OWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!"

Scratch then shook the doll like a soda can, causing Andrea to look like the fastest jumper ever. Then also like a soda can, Andrea emptied herself.

"Hehahahahahahahahaha! This is the best!" Scratch said.

Darryl then took the doll back and shook a can of itching powder all over it.

"Eeh! Now I'm all itchy!" Andrea whined as she started scratching herself. "Maybe I need to get out of here."

"Oh no you don't." Darryl stuck the doll's feet to a plate of glue, keeping Andrea's feet in place.

"Why can't my feet move!?" Andrea tried desperately to move her feet, but couldn't.

She pulled her feet out of her boots, but got stuck again. She freed herself from her socks, but got the same result. Now she couldn't go anywhere.

"Now let's see if I can do one other thing." Darryl slid his wrapped fingers along an arm and saw Andrea's sleeve move. "Perfect."

"Uh, what are you going to do?" Scratch asked.

"Duh, I'm going to show the world Andrea in her underwear." Darryl said as if it were obvious.

"Okay, don't get me wrong. I had a lot of fun with this. But aren't you going a little too far now?"

"Of course not. It's what she did to me."

"I guess you have a point, but I'm still not sure about this."

"Well I am." Darryl held the doll and smiled like a madman.

He raised his hand and reached for the lower half of the doll, getting more excited about completing his revenge by the second.

"DROP THAT DOLL!" Molly shouted as she and Libby came through the bushes, scaring both trouble makers.

"Ah! Molly? Libby? How'd you find out?" Darryl asked.

"That doesn't matter." Molly said. "What does is that what you're doing is wrong."

"Oh, and what Andrea did isn't?"

"He's got a good point." Scratch said.

"I know how you feel." Libby said. "My social life was ruined for years because of her. But revenge isn't the answer."

"We both know how you feel." Molly added. "And I actually tried to get revenge. Remember? Besides, like I said before, she's actually starting to change."

"Yeah, well guess what." Darryl said. "One good deed doesn't make up for everything she's done."

"You're right. It doesn't." Molly admitted, surprising Darryl and Scratch a little. "But it is a good start."

And that was when Darryl knew he had lost. He reluctantly removed the plate of glue from the doll's feet and gave Molly the doll.

"Had fun while it lasted." he said.

"Yeah." Scratch agreed. "I guess I better undo the curse."

Unfortunately, the screen showed that Andrea quickly left the area the moment she was free. Even her footwear was gone.

"Aw nuts." Scratch said.

"What?" Molly asked.

"Oh that's right. I didn't tell you yet. I can only curse and sometimes uncurse in the presence of my target."

"Then we better find her." Libby said.

The group splitted up and searched the town for Andrea. Scratch flew up high above Brighton to get a bird's eye view. Molly decided to check if Andrea simply went home. Libby went to the feminine stores Andrea would likely buy from. As for Darryl, he checked any other street where someone might go. He wasn't having any luck until he heard something unexpected. An explosion. Darryl ran all the way to the source of the sound which turned out to be a small restaurant between two buildings. From that restaurant came smoke and fire. Several people managed to run out unharmed thankfully.

"What happened?" Darryl asked.

"The stove was faulty and blew up." one of the workers said. "Then the whole place started falling apart. Luckily everyone got out."

"Actually I think someone's missing." another worker said. "Pink sweater, pale blue hair, loves her phone too much."

"Andrea!" Darryl realized.

Unfortunately, the fire spread across the inside, keeping anyone from getting more than a few feet in. Then Molly ran up to the crowd.

"What's going on?" she asked.

"A stove in that restaurant blew up and now Andrea's stuck inside somewhere!" Darryl said.

"What!?" Molly looked in one of the windows, hoping to spot Andrea. "There she is! Behind that pile in the corner!"

Darryl looked and saw some pink through a hole in said pile.

"I don't think the firefighters will get here in time!" he said.

"If only I could summon Scratch again." Molly said.

"Wait! I have an idea. There's a gap at the top. Maybe you can make her climb out of there with the voodoo doll. I just remembered that this place has a bunch of empty climbable shelves on that wall for some reason."

Molly pulled out the doll and surprised Darryl by giving it to him.

"Huh?"

"Not me. You." Molly said. "I trust you."

Darryl couldn't believe his own ears for a moment, but then he snapped out of it and got started.

Inside of the restaurant, Andrea was surrounded by fallen debris too high for her to simply climb over. To make matters worse, a piece of the ceiling fell on her phone and broke it, leaving her with no way to call for help.

"I'm going to die." she said with fearful tears.

Then just when the fire was touching the pile, Andrea's body started moving on it's own once more.

"Not again!" she started climbing the wall of empty shelves against her will.

One limb after another, she went up until she was near the ceiling. Then she reluctantly moved sideways along the top shelves while getting even more scared of the spreading flames. Her body then stopped and let go. She thought she was falling to her doom until she landed on a round table which still hurt a little. After stepping onto the floor, her arms then grabbed the tablecloth and covered herself with it. Her legs carried her through the fire and out the recently opened door. Finally free to move on her own, Andrea quickly pulled the burning cloth off and found that she was outside and unharmed.

"Did I just save myself?" she asked.

While the confusion spread to other people, Darryl gave Molly the doll again. Shortly afterwards, a firetruck finally showed as did Libby and Scratch.

"What did we miss?" Libby asked.

"Let's just say Darryl did the right thing." Molly answered.

"Well now that Andrea's nearby, I can end my curse." Scratch said.

Molly handed him the doll and Scratch flew over to Andrea to undo his magic. Andrea was by herself and too busy checking if her clothes were ruined to notice the creepy warping.

"I HEREBY END THE SUFFERING THIS DOLL HAS CAUSED YOU AND FREE YOU FROM MY CURSE!"

And so everything was back to normal. Even the fire was out now. Scratch returned to the others with the toy and gave it back to Darryl. The whole gang was about to leave when they were unexpectedly spoken to.

"Hey, wait up." Andrea called before catching up to them. "I'm glad you're here. There's something I meant to give you, uhhh... Derrick was it?"

"It's Darryl actually." Darryl corrected. "And why give me anything?"

"Well someone else gave me something that I don't really need, so I thought you could use it." Andrea pulled a piece of paper out of her purse and gave it to Darryl.

"This is a coupon for a pet store." Darryl was baffled.

Then Andrea said something he didn't expect.

"I'm sorry for trying to kill your ugly spider. I didn't know it was your pet."

Four jaws dropped at the same time.

"Speaking of pets, I better get home and feed my pony. Bye." Andrea then simply skipped away.

"I never thought she'd apologize for anything." Libby said.

"I never thought she'd feed anyone herself." Scratch said.

"Now do you think she's gotten better?" Molly asked her brother.

"Well this doesn't cover everything." Darryl said as he looked at his coupon. "But yeah."

Author's Note: Sorry if I went too far in either direction. I just wanted to both give Darryl a good motive and get the whole punish Andrea thing out of my system before she eventually becomes a better person. I won't lie. The former was a little tricky for me and I had a lot of fun coming up with all those voodoo ideas for the latter. The hardest part for me was coming up with a scenario to have Andrea be saved from by using a voodoo doll. I'm still not a hundred percent sure if I did that right, but nobody's perfect. Next time, Scratch is not going to be happy.
