Chapter 2
Hinata woke up quite the same way she did yesterday. Usually, the feverish sensual dreams were scattered, but back to back? Life just wasn't treating her fairly. She began her routine trying her damn best to ignore the warmth between her legs, and the words that haunted her mind. He just had to make it harder for her to forget him- in that way. If she thought about what he wrote the image from her fantasy would just replay itself.
Hinata threw on a white blouse and black pencil skirt, she then put on a black blazer to match. She left out in a rather irritated mood. When she got in her car she looked over to check on her neighbor but his automobile was nowhere in sight.
'Still going strong.' Hinata thought as she pulled out the driveway, driving a little faster than normal. Her body felt jittery, a feeling she declared as nervousness, but never for what it truly was. Excitement. She would never let herself fully enjoy seeing him. It was like the highlight of her day- but she would never admit that to herself.
Hinata had to make sure she focused on her job. she was the only teacher crazy enough to teach two subjects in one year but she was up for the challenge. With how organized she was she taught English on her 'a' days and math on her 'b' days. they were very short-staffed offering her a decent amount of money for her extra load. However, if she allowed the blonde to break her walls down she will never get through the year. She was already seen as a failure in her family's eyes, she didn't need to give them any more fuel for their disdain.
So when she got to school she disregarded the way her hands sweat, when the bell rang signally for everyone to get to class she ignored her butterflies. When she found her gaze roaming the others she denied that she was looking for anyone in particular. She would not give in to her reality.
She sat straight up in her office chair, fixing her glasses. This time the shock of pink hair and white-like blonde stuck out to her more apparently. The two girls were wearing mini skirts and a tight blouse showing off their cleavage. They had on a jean jacket to keep them a little warm from the morning cold. The two practically wore the same outfit just printed out in different colors- one purple and one pink. Make-up caked on their faces with red lipgloss to make their lips shiny and pouty.
The girls were arm in arm giggling to themselves- heels clacking as they walked in.
Ino the 'wallflower' horse rider and Sakura the loving friend and surfer.
"I can't believe she said that..." Sakura gossiped, Hinata only catching the middle of the conversation.
"Yup- I think she's jealous of your relationship with Naruto. You guys are really close." Ino clicked her tongue.
"O-M-G, I see him as a brother, an annoying one at that!"
"Remember that huge crush he had on you?"
The girls walked by her desk and into the back, their conversation too hushed for her to hear from her position. Their lips moving rather quickly as gasps were thrown in.
'Naruto had a crush on Sakura... but it seems she doesn't think of him in that way... I wonder if he still has a crush on her...who is jealous of their relationship...perhaps someone who likes him...' Hinata mentally shook her head- it's not like it mattered to her! How childish of her to nosey her way into gossip that concerned her students. It didn't mean anything to her; who had a silly infatuation with who. They were seniors in high school- it didn't involve her. Also, she didn't care- at least that's what she mentally told herself.
Hinata quickly typed her password on her computer, opening the roster to take role. Everyone was present except the two boys.
Sakura had noticed too when the bell rang looking at the two empty seats. She rolled her eyes turning to Ino," I bet it was Naruto again."
Hinata stood walking towards the door but before she could leave out Sasuke had stepped in front of her, blocking the exit. His expression was void of emotion but the way his eyes looked upon her it seemed to hold quite the annoyance.
"Does this count as me being tardy?" He mumbled looking at his watch. It was right at 8:05- technically if he wasn't in his seat- if she were a stickler for rules- or in the classroom it is qualified as late. He seemed to be a man who enjoyed being on time, the blonde was only making that difficult for him.
She smiled and shook her head," You're fine, um... wh-where's Naruto?"
Something crossed his features- almost like hidden amusement, but it was gone before Hinata could identify it.
He shrugged his shoulders," He should be close behind, I left him in the parking lot."
"Is this a reoccurring issue?"
"Can you tell?" Sasuke snorted as she let him in. The girls squealing in delight. Sakura acting a little more animated now that Sasuke had entered the room.
Hinata stepped out and closed the door. Looking down the hall, her arms crossed and her feet tapping impatiently as she waited for the blonde- but he never appeared. She rolled down her blazer sleeve to check the time on her thin bracelet watch-8:09.
She looked up again, 'Where is he...'
"Are you waiting on me.." a deep voice spoke in her ear from behind.
Hinata gasped nearly jumping out of her skin, her heels clicking rapidly as she spun around- Naruto loomed over her with a playful smile.
He was too close to her, neck craning up to look into his smoldering blue eyes. The space between them feeling too warm.
"Y-you're late-" Hinata frowned stepping back from him.
"If I get my pretty teacher standing outside waiting for me with a cute little pout I might have to be late all the time." He chuckled.
"M-Menma-I- oops-" at the mistake of his name Naruto's laugh died spontaneously.
He looked away from her growling lowly, "My names not Menma."
"I- I'm S-Sorry" Hinata's face was red in disbelief, she couldn't believe she just called him Menma!
"Whatever." Naruto grabbed the handle to the door and swung it open, Hinata quickly seized it before it could close.
Now he was angry with her- it's not really her fault he had impersonated someone else. She had met him as Menma- why was he mad? Shouldn't she be mad for him lying to her about his age and name?
"Ooo- someone got in trouble~" Ino teased Naruto as he sat in his seat, he sent her a lopsided smile.
"Thanks for leaving me asshole." Naruto flicked the back of Sasuke's neck, said boy turned to glare at the blonde in response.
"Next time I'm leaving at seven-thirty. If you aren't at my house by then, you can walk."
"When are you getting your car fixed?" Sakura tuned into the conversation.
Hinata walked to her bell and dinged it two times for everyone's attention. Everyone else got quiet but the blonde continued to talk.
"By the end of this month, Nagato said this is the third car I wrecked so he's playing father figure and trying to discipline me."
Hinata looked at the blonde as the attention shifted towards him. "Ex-excuse me N-Naruto." At his name, the blonde smiled towards her but she knew better- his orbs showed his mischievous intent.
"Yes, Ms. Hyuga. Naruto is my name I wouldn't want you to wear it out too soon."
The class all looked amongst each other as they started to snicker claiming that the knucklehead was springing to action.
Hinata couldn't believe how rude he was being, so what if she called him Menma! She was the teacher and he was the student. She frowned smacking her lips before she spoke.
"Well. Na-ru-to. I guess you don't have anything you are doing for lunch. I will be happy to see you in my class to talk about proper behavior." It was a good punishment to throw out there but she also needed to speak to him about his little note.
"Ooo~" The students bantered on- wanting to see more of the crossfire. They were loving it- as well as the boy who enjoyed the squabble.
Naruto raised a brow as he leaned back in his seat, arms crossed over his chest as he seemed to ponder her question. "I can move some stuff around for you-" He snapped his fingers towards her, "-it's a date!"
"Y-you..." Hinata was flustered pressing her lips together, her cheeks on fire as she looked away, walking to her desk as she shook her head.
The class roared with laughter when the woman failed to have any comeback for the blonde boy- ultimately making her bashful. Naruto raised hist fist up victoriously as the chuckles carried on in amusement.
"Literally only the second dayyy! When do you grow up?" Sakura scolded him.
Ino leaned forward on her desk, typing away in her phone, hiding it behind Sakura's head. "I think you should go easy on Ms. Hyuga. We don't want her quitting- we'd be royally fucked for the year." She spoke without looking towards her friend but she could sense his 'shrug' almost telepathically.
"If you ruin my education I will kill you." Sasuke shifted around in his seat to pin him with a glare, the blonde scratched the back of his head cheekily.
"No Sasuke don't do that!" Sakura gasped, her eyes blinking in fear of him actually following through with said plans.
"Thanks, Sakura, I knew you loved me!" Naruto grinned but the woman only snorted.
" I'm not worried about you! If you make Sasuke kill you he'd go to jail!" Sakura laughed as she joked making Ino giggle, even Sasuke let out a little chuckle.
"Oh, really that was funny to you simple-minded fools." Naruto retorted trying to restore some of his honor. "All I see is this is a win for me. Naruto one, Ms. Hyuga zero."
There was a loud groan upfront making the four of them look with curiosity. Hinata was passing out a thick packet to each student. They tried to peer over to see what it was as she came around.
"Since you guys are so full of energy- I thought I'd give you some work to do." Hinata sat a package down on Ino's desk as she picked it up with a frown. "I expect this package to be done by Friday." Hinata continued to go down the rows while the students looked through the hefty amount of work in shock. "You will work on it now until the end of class." Hinata finished circling the classroom ending at the blonde with a slight smile. He looked at her questioningly as she sat a package at the edge of his desk, sliding slowly to him. "You can all thank Naruto." She winked at him as everyone whined. She walked away victoriously as the class turned and booed the blonde boy.
As the attention was on him she sat down in her chair to give him a sly smirk.
"Naruto one , Ms. Hyuga zero Huh." Sasuke rolled his eyes getting started on his work.
"Don't you dare ask me for my answers- this is on you baka." Ino stuck her tongue out. Sakura hummed in agreement.
"My bad my bad!" Naruto chuckled but after the commotion died down he locked eyes with his teacher giving her a taunting grin.
'Well played.' He mouthed at her.
Hinata had to bite her lip to stop the big smile that would've crossed her face. She couldn't deny one distinct fact- the blonde did make her life interesting. It gave it something that she couldn't quite place. Rather it is him inhabiting her dreams or him teasing her in her class. She tried to focus on her work, but she found that the grinning playful student was much more interesting.
The bell rang as the students gathered their things. Some of them shouted at Naruto to not fuck up their next class as the boy laughed it off. As they shuffled out Hinata spoke up- "I expect to see you at 11:45. That gives you plenty of time to get here- don't be late."
"Can't wait." Naruto gleamed at her leaving the classroom. Hinata twisted her lips as she turned her chair, unable to look at any of the other students. She was smitten with the boy- he made her confused about her own feelings. It was her duty to be his teacher- but she kept sabotaging herself. Finding that she loved his presence. Deep down she was excited to see him for lunch.
Hinata took the time to check her phone- a text message was sent to her from 'Father.' Hinata felt her chest burn- A huge weight seemed to weigh on her at once. Just at the sight of his name. It felt like he was here standing over her, shaking his head in shame. That's right. She couldn't allow herself to be unhinged from some boy. She couldn't mess up again. Hinata shakily touched the text, the message popping up.
Father: Family dinner next Saturday.
Hinata closed her eyes, her heart feeling as though it shattered. No good morning, no loving miss you text, and no how was your first day. However, what did she truly expect from him?
Hinata: Yes father, I will be there.
It was for her after all, every last Saturday of the month they have these 'family dinners' but really it was how can I make my daughter feel worse about her mistakes and how many more is she currently piling on. Also, they wanted to make sure she didn't relapse.
She hated going to it. Absolutely dreaded the day.
The bell rang and Hinata was back into robot mode. Her mood sour- but she didn't let it show as she continued with her duty.
Hinata was so caught up in her dooming fate she had absolutely forgotten about Naruto. She was busy warming her soup up for lunch when the door opened and closed behind her.
She looked over her shoulder surprised to see the smiling boy, "Oh- oh Naruto!" She felt her heart quicken as she quickly gained some composure.
He snorted at her surprise, "You didn't forget about our date have you?"
"No- no I didn't- I mean! It-it's not a date stop saying that." Hinata quickly walked to her bag grabbing out the real reason he was called in.
"Come on Hinata, it was just a joke." He plopped into the desk sitting in front of her.
She looked up at him with a glare. She had to stop this before it gets out of hand. "Enough with the flirting." Hinata grabbed the paper and walked to his desk setting the sheet on top.
"Straight to business I see, I like that." He shifted in his chair to look at the paper, smiling at it. He picked it up clearing his throat as he read it, "I enjoy licking your body...feeling your skin...hearing you moan...It's all I could think about over the summer " He chuckled "That's kinky Hinata, I didn't know you thought of me in that way."
Hinata huffed grabbing the paper as she waved it in front of him, "This is inappropriate Naruto."
"How do you know it's mine? That's not my handwriting." He pulled out one of his works showing a more uniform writing. "See?"
"Enough Naruto! I know it was you." She slapped the paper back down in frustration.
"Then why don't you say what you really want to say then!" Naruto got up sending the chair back, his demeanor catching her off guard. It went from whimsical to severe in a blink of an eye.
"W-well." Hinata gulped as Naruto stepped in front of her, her butt hitting her desk as she quickly moved away from him. She closed her eyes and breathed deeply. This was it- she had to end it now or she will be caught in a spiral. Naruto was tempting but she needed to say no. It was like a drug threatening to ruin her career- just like drugs ruined her college life. She had to say 'no' to it. A secret affair with her senior student would absolutely destroy her family name and profession she couldn't dishonor them anymore- haven't she done enough?
It's not like she purposefully slept with a young boy who was her student- she thought he was 21. If she stopped whatever was going on now she could save the dignity she had.
"Naruto." She looked at him calmly. "We need to forget what had happened. You are my student, and I am your teacher. If I would have known I wouldn't have slept with you. It's improper."
His lids lowered into a slit, his glare making her uncomfortable. At that moment she didn't feel like his teacher, and this situation wasn't as fucked up as it seemed. For a moment he felt like a man in front of her and she a woman.
"It's not like it mattered. Even if I wasn't a senior you still gave me a fake number- so quit the bullshit like that's the reason why you won't give me a chance."
"P-pardon?" Hinata looked rather confused. 'Wrong number?'
"Kami- you are just like the rest of them. You act like you care and then you don't. All that bullshit you said that night, I thought you were being serious. Telling me I made you feel special- for a second I believed you really meant it. I wanted to think it was maybe a mistake when I tried to call you and someone else answered. Tell me right now Hinata, tell me it was a mistake." Naruto got closer invading her space as she flip-flopped on what he said.
She had given him the wrong number! That's why he never called- She must have been a little too out of her head when she typed her digits into his phone.
"Say something Hinata. Does that night not haunt you as it does me?" Naruto grabbed her hips bring her flush to his chest. His eyes searching, darker than normal. Quickly she glanced at the door, the windows were tinted so no one could see into the classroom but she could see out. She couldn't say anything- she was taken for a wild loop in her mind.
He actually wanted to call her- it was her fault that he never did.
"Answer me Hinata!" Naruto picked her up by the hips and plopped her on her desk, grabbing her chin so she could look up at him and not avert her gaze. The hurt in his eyes was evident, it almost reflected the same feeling she felt when she'd look at her phone and he'd never contacted her. She could just say it- say it was a mistake. They could laugh it off and talk about how she too was dreaming of him. It would be one big misunderstanding that they could bury, she would be relieved to finally hug him and go on those dates he promised.
"Naruto..." His eyes never left hers as she spoke softly. " I lied." She whispered.
Naruto's jaw tensed as he looked upon her. He blinked a few times looking away from her.
"I-I never meant to hurt you Naruto... It was just a one-night stand..." She felt her sob catch in her throat as she willed it down. She had to show she didn't care. Had to play it off as such. He stepped away from her, dragging all warmth that she felt with him. Without a word he grabbed his backpack and slung it over his shoulder.
"N-Naruto I-I'm sorry..." Hinata felt the tears coming, wiping them swiftly before he saw.
"Save it." He bit out. He grabbed the paper and ripped it apart tossing the contents in the trash as he walked out of her classroom. After the door finally closed Hinata let the tears flow freely. She meant it when she said she was sorry. She was sorry the situation had to be like this. If there was any other way... if they met maybe a year later for crying out loud. Maybe it would have been better. Hinata cried the rest of the lunch period, unable to eat her food.
At the end of the day, Hinata drove home slowly with no music. In utter silence, she pulled up to her driveway and got out the car to grab her things.
"Hey, Hinata." Kankuro smiled sitting on his porch smoking. He noticed her sullen expression, she didn't even hear him. He got up walking over to her.
"Hey." Kankuro tried again.
"EEK!" Hinata jumped dropping all her things as Kankuro scared her, she didn't even hear him approaching.
"Oh shit! My bad." he bent down setting his bong on the ground as he helped her pick up her things.
"I-it's ok." She said sadly, sniffling a little. Kankuro looked up trying to see her face but she let her hair fall down in front of her.
He lifted a hand to brush the hair back making her flinch when his warm fingers touched upon her cheek. Lifting her hair out of her face he frowned deeply, "What's wrong?" Her nose was red from crying and her eyes looked dark.
"Uh..." She blushed pulling back from his touch and tucking her hair behind her ear. "I...just had a long day at school..."
"Oh- ok." Kankuro helped her get her things and walked her to her front door. "This has nothing to do with that asshole does it?" Kankuro raised his brow gauging her reaction. Temari had told him a little bit of what happened making him already hate this man that didn't call his sweet neighbor.
Hinata looked at him surprised, "D-did Temari tell you?"
"Yes- but only because she said she wanted me to find him and beat him up for you." Kankuro laughed making Hinata giggle. That did sound like her.
"It's ok. I haven't um- heard from him. I'd just rather forget about him..."
"Yeah, no problem Hinata. Sorry for bringing it up." He handed her the books as she opened her door. She shook her head softly.
"No, thank you for worrying about me." Hinata smiled leaning on the door. "What would you like for me to bake for you this time?"
"Pot brownies?" Kankuro grinned making Hinata snort.
"I-I guess I can make you some. Thanks for helping me."
Kankuro was floored by her statement, "Seriously? You would?! Do you know how to make them?"
Hinata blushed with a light shrug, "I-I used to smoke..."
"What? No way Hinata! You gotta smoke with me now." Kankuro chuckled not able to fathom the pure girl to dabble in any drugs.
"It-it's not something I talk about a lot... it's actually the reason why I flunked my classes. My father was...rather disappointed."
"Oh. I'm sorry Hinata, but I can fully relate... I was going through college and failed... I just never stopped smoking." He chuckled sadly. "Didn't mean to bring up bad memories..."
"N-No it's ok."
"Regular brownies it is! I don't want to make you feel uneasy."
Hinata quickly shook her head, "I-I can make it for you-"
"I actually have a different favor to ask. If that's ok." Kankuro fiddled with his bong, feeling bad for having it around her now.
"Yeah what is it?"
"Could you tutor my lil bro? He's a first-year in college and he's having a little trouble with English. I told him you were a teacher and maybe you could help him? The boy doesn't understand why the curtains are blue and has a bad time using his words." Kankuro joked making the woman in front of him smile, eyes beaming with laughter. It always brought him joy to make her happy, especially when she was down.
"Of course. You can have him come over this Saturday."
"Thanks, Hinata, I really don't want him to fail like me. He has a bright future ahead of him."
"Kankuro..." Hinata began but he was already walking away with his hands up.
"I know I know! I am just in a rough patch. I'll get out of eventually, just keep cheering for me." He laughed.
Hinata smiled shaking her head as she watched the boy walk to his house, "Goodnight Hinata!"
"Good morning Kankuro." She giggled to herself feeling slightly better. Knowing that Kankuro understood the feeling of disappointing their fathers, she almost felt akin to him. At least his siblings were nice though, unlike hers...
After her long day of looking over some paperwork and answering emails, Hinata had finally crawled into bed. She set her alarm and placed it on her nightstand. She pulled the blanket up to her chest as she looked up at her ceiling. Slowly she let her head fall to the side, looking at her cellular device.
What if she had given him the correct number? How would things be different if she did? Or if she decided to tell him the truth? She felt sick just thinking about it. A lone tear falling down her cheek as she tried to fall asleep. Things could have been magnificent between them- but that would've been with Menma- the 21-year-old in the club, not Naruto, the senior. Who even knows how old he is.
How much did he hate her now?
She tossed and turned all night afraid to dream of the man she couldn't have.
Author Note: If you guys have any questions about the story don't be afraid to ask. I will try to answer them as best as i can without spoiling anything. If you are wondering about their age Hinata is 24 and Naruto is 18. So it's not so much the age difference it's the fact that he is in high school still/ and her student. Also she would be afraid that her father wouldn't approve of him since he doesn't have his life together and no real job/career being that he is young. So just a little insight on Hinata's constant struggle with Naruto- but it will be talked more about later. Have a wonderful day and thanks so much for your support~ ^_^~
