What Are You? :
"What…what happened?" She asked, finally ending the silence. The others, especially Gunther, unsure how to respond which she saw, only making her feel worse.
Jackie hated what she was feeling. The fact Brianna, Kick and Gunther were all silent when she asked her question. The fact that Gunther stayed silent when she asked the question, she hated it. Not only did it frustrate her, it made her feel like they all knew that he was hiding things. That they might know everything he could be hiding and her mind just continued to wonder. She really hated it.
Kendall started to stir, which got everyone's attention as Jackie glanced at her. She hoped she was okay as Kendall sat up holding her head. She let out a few sounds of discomfort, before trying to focus on what was happening. She glanced around.
"How…when did I…" Kendall was curious as she was trying to regain herself before remembering the events that just happened. She felt her chest, her shirt ripped, but was surprised that the wound was gone. She was still a little sore but she was okay. She looked at Jackie who was looking at her with concern.
"You okay?" Jackie wondered. Kendall nodded.
"When did we… What…" She looked over seeing Kick and the others who were looking at her with concern.
"That's what I asked." Jackie came in, which Kendall looked at her with the way she said that. "But nobody is answering me." Jackie glanced back at the three, mainly Gunther, who was trying to avoid the look, biting the inside of his cheek. Kendall glanced at them as well, seeing as she could now focus and was comprehending what might have happened and how she got there.
"Guys…please, what happened?" Kendall questioned. "Those two…they were…" She looked down at her shirt. "What happened to us?" She glanced back up. "What…or who…were those two that attacked us?" She continued. The boys just glanced at each other, which only pissed Jackie off given her mind still didn't like where things were going.
"This isn't funny!" She reacted, countering. "Why won't you answer us? Why won't you tell us anything? What are you hiding from us? From me…why….just…tell us…" Jackie demanded, her frustration levels rising as she trembled more, still trying to hold back her tears. Kendall looked at her knowing that expression, and knew something was up. 'Jackie…' She was worried. 'She's going back to those thoughts…' She hoped things might get cleared up.
Gunther saw how Jackie was reacting, and it worried him as he knew this might happen. He looked down a bit, trying to hide his own mixed emotions about this. 'She's…. she's completely afraid...' Gunther thought. 'We can tell.' Brianna and Kick thought simultaneously.
"Jackie…" Kendall spoke softly, which got their attentions, as Kendall placed her hand on Jackie's. Jackie looked at her. "Let's give them a chance, okay…" She told her. Jackie glanced away slightly with that, before letting out a small breath, nodding. Kendall looked back at the three. "Please…tell us." She commented. "Tell us what happened." Kick and Gunther exchanged glances again. Brianna let out a breath, as she glanced at them as well, before looking back at the girls.
"You're….you're not going to believe us if we told you." Brianna responded.
"Brianna." Kick wanted to protest, Gunther also about to say something except Brianna shot them a hard stare.
"Enough of this." Brianna said. "We obviously can't keep this forever." She stated. "They were bound to find out at some point."
"Find out what?" Jackie wondered. "What is going on?" She was more curious. The boys didn't like where this conversation was heading, but had to relent, given that Brianna was right, especially with the current circumstances.
"Look…" Kick started, his voice a bit quiet but still loud enough to be heard. "Brianna's….she's right….you might not believe us." He agreed. The girls just kept their stares on the three, the three letting out their own breaths.
"You were right that something wasn't right with those guys." Brianna informed.
"The reason….for that is…" Gunther swallowed as this subject was hard for him. "They were rouge vampires." Both girls eyes widened for a bit before Jackie couldn't help but get more pissed.
"Vampires?" She had an attitude as she questioned this. "You…you seriously expect us to believe that? That those guys were….that….that explains nothing." Jackie was getting more frustrated and angered.
"Jackie…" Gunther looked hurt by how she was deflecting the issue.
"We told you it might be hard to believe." Brianna tried to say. "But it's true."
"You have to believe us and what they were." Gunther added. Jackie just scoffed at them.
"Stop lying." She fired back. "That's all you're doing right now is lying to me!" She pointed. "There's no way some mythical, magical creatures came out….that…that you're saying some fairytale super natural beings just suddenly would attack us. That….that…just stop lying to me…" Kendall could hear the pain in Jackie's voice, as she went off defensively at them. At Gunther mainly. And she knew why. Kendall squeezed her hand hoping to try and calm her, knowing the trembling she was doing and her behavior was all because she was just hurt. She was having some trust issues right now that needed to be resolved. Kendall knew her friend wasn't thinking as logically as she should be, given how she's been feeling for a while, especially since the formal. Jackie did a small glance towards Kendall when she did that.
Gunther could tell by the way Jackie was reacting it was her way of coping with everything. He could tell she was trying to deflect because she was becoming more and more afraid. And he hated that because he didn't like what it could mean for them. He could see her trembling, and the fact she seemed to not want to be near him, nor the others seemed to only prove how afraid she was. Brianna and Kick had tiny, brief looks towards Gunther, being that they saw he was getting hurt by this, by Jackie's reactions.
"Jackie…" Kendall tried to calm her again, knowing what her friend was thinking. Kendall let out a breath before directing her attention back to the others. "Okay…say that….we believe that you guys are right." Kendall began. "That we believe you, and those two that attacked us were….these um…rouge vampires." Kendall continued. "Why would you guys put yourselves in so much danger? More to it….how were you able to fight them?" She asked, hoping that might help clear things up, especially for Jackie who needed some clarity. The boys though were reluctant to answer as a few awkward, tense moments passed, which wasn't sitting well with Jackie at all. Although, it wasn't sitting well with Brianna either, being that the boys were still trying to avoid the subject. Kendall just kept staring, hopeful they would answer, especially Gunther, for Jackie's sake.
"Honesty…" Brianna shot some glares at them, before letting out a sigh, wanting to explain.
"Brianna." Both boys shot at her, which she only gave another hard stare back at them.
"Forgive the interruption." Honey came back into the room, getting all of their attentions. "I see you're doing okay Kendall." Which Kendall just nodded at her. "I'm glad." Honey smiled. "Would you girls like something to drink, I think it might help having some fluids." She offered. The girls looked at each other before glancing back at Honey.
"Um, no thank you Mrs. Buttowski…" Kendall replied. "I think…we're okay for now." Honey just nodded at them.
"Let me know if you want anything." Honey told them, giving the boys and Brianna a look, which the boys knew what it meant, before leaving to go back into the kitchen. Brianna just gave them another look. 'Told you. This has to end, enough is enough.' She thought. 'They need to know.' Kick shared his sister's thoughts with Gunther, both not liking where this was going nor what it could mean. Gunther especially, since he was already seeing how Jackie was acting with just the rouges. He didn't want to think about what could happen after she knew, being she was already this afraid.
Brianna let out a breathe again, as she knew both boys were going to have to face this at some point, plus now had to face telling them with this type of circumstance. She felt for both of them, since she knew both loved them so much. And hoped for the best, given how things were currently.
"The reason…" Brianna started, as she too, was trying to find the right way to say this, but found there wasn't any way to sugarcoat it. She silently swallowed. "The reason Gunther and my brother were…..that they were able to stand up against those vampires….and fight them…" She continued. "It's because…it's…." She let out a defeated sigh. "It's because they're vampires… more precisely we're….we're vampires." She finally confessed. Both girls going silent for a bit, being that they didn't know what to say at that moment.
To be continued…
