Resentment; anger.
"Come oooooooooon!"
"No."
"But—"
"Luffy. No."
His shoulders sank at her words, and her captain's next words were distorted with a clear pout. "Why not?"
"Because I'm still mad at you," she responded with a scoff. Terra crossed her arms defensively across her chest as she considered whether it would be worth it to try walking away from him and his notoriously clingy limbs.
Beside her, Luffy's lip drooped comically low. "Well, stop being mad at me then!"
"Why would I do that?" she asked, deciding then that she wouldn't be the one leaving. He was the one bothering her — she had been there first, so Luffy should be the one to leave! "You haven't even apologized to me! And even if you did, I would still think that you're a butthead."
"A butthead?!" Luffy squawked. "Who are you calling a butthead? I'm not a butthead, you're a butthead!"
Standing up, she raised her fist to bonk Luffy on the head. "What sort of apology is that, you dimwit?!"
"Why should I have to apologize? You already said you'll still think I'm a butthead!"
"What's all this about butts I hear?" interrupted the sly voice of Usopp.
"She's a butthead!"
"He's a butthead."
There was a pause as she registered that they had responded at the same time, their words blending together. Then—
"Quit it with the shitty apologies, Luffy!"
"W-woah! Stop hitting him!"
"Luuuuuuuffy."
Mouth pinched to the side, Luffy's eyes stared pointedly away from the girl draping her upper-half over the railing that he sat upon.
"C'mon, stop ignoring me already!" she whined, a halfhearted hand tugging on his vest.
He pressed his hands over his ears, and began to whistle poorly. Still, he heard her call his name again.
"Luffy! You're being a jerk. I already apologized, what more do you want from me?"
His whistling grew louder in response. A moment later, Luffy felt the grasp on his vest disappear, and the thumps against the wood that told him Terra had joined him atop it.
"—mmf na 'oin r—k, humph! Een r'dless."
"What?" he asked.
A small hand tugged on his wrist, aiming to pull his hand away from his ear. His arm stretched without dislodging from his head. His forearm snapped against his jaw as the hand released it.
He felt the railing shake with her laughter, and felt his own lips twitching into a grin. "—y!"
Luffy dropped his hands from his ears. Loudly, he declared, "I will only accept apologies in the form of meat!"
Terra furrowed her brow and pouted angrily. "You know I can hardly get you a carrot, let alone meat."
"I don't want any carrots anyway," Luffy said. His rubbery hands gripped the top of the railing as Luffy leaned obnoxiously into Terra's space. "Just ask Sanji for meat! He'll give you some for sure!"
"I see," she responded, her frustration melting into thoughtful consideration. She was unfazed despite Luffy's obnoxious proximity. "He might get mad at me if he realizes I'm asking on your behalf, though."
"Shishishi! Then we just don't tell him!"
With a roll of her eyes, Terra pushed the boy away as he laughed in her face. "Fine, Captain. I'll betray the unwavering devotion of our cook and get you your meat— and then you'll forgive me?"
"Nah," he said with a careless shrug.
Terra shook him back and forth and she roared, "What do you mean?!"
Luffy's head wobbled back and forth over his shoulders. "Shishishi, " he laughed. "It's 'cause I already forgive you! But you should still get me meat."
Terra's nostrils flared as she processed his sentence. Finally, she released him. "Fine," she said. "I'll still get your meat, but only 'cause I said I would. Jerk."
"Hey!" cried Luffy, but Terra turned to head towards the kitchen as though she hadn't heard him. "Who are you calling a jerk, jerk? Hey! Hey, jerk, get back here!"
