Chapter 3
3rd POV
I don't own Harry Potter. That right goes to J.K. Rowling
The scar's glow dies down almost immediately, but with the glow dying down you see the sleeping face of a 10 year old Athena instead of baby Athena. You can see a light come from the vent on the door, but you see that the room she was in was small.
"Up. Get up." said a familiar voice, knocking on the cupboard door, waking Athena, "Now!" Petunia unlocks the closet door before walking away.
"Was that who I thought it was, Athena?" Snape questioned, confused as to why Athena was with his lost best friend's sister. "Was that Petunia?"
"Yes it was. You thought that I was living a luxurious life getting everything I wanted, but I didn't get anything I wanted until I started going to Hogwarts. And the reason I let you think that was because you never let me tell you otherwise." Athena said to him, crossing her arms while Draco had an arm over her shoulder in a way to comfort her.
After Petunia walks back to the kitchen, her son Dudley is heard coming down the stairs as Athena is putting her hair in a braid to keep it out of the way while she is doing what her aunt tells her too. Dudley was laughing, going down the stairs when he went down, he then went back up a few steps and started jumping. "Wake up, cousin! We're going to the zoo!" He says before rushing down the stairs. When Athena was trying to come out of the cupboard, her cousin pushed her back in and closed the door before going into the kitchen.
Draco understood now why Athena didn't like him when they first met, he reminded her of her cousin.
"Is that why you didn't shake my hand in first year? Because I reminded you of him with how I spoke." Draco asked his girlfriend, looking down at her sadly.
"Yeah, you were quite rude, granted sometimes you still are to some people, but you have lightened up on the attitude. Now I love you too much to let you go." She said cuddling into him, knowing that he was a little upset about what he had seen.
"Oh, here he comes, the birthday boy!" Athena hears while opening the door to the kitchen.
"Happy birthday, son." Athena's uncle, Vernon, says reading the newspaper.
Athena was closing the door, watching her aunt and cousin giggle. While the 3 members of her family were dressed like a high class family, she was dressed in rags. "Why don't you just cook breakfast, and try not to burn anything." Petunia said in an unpleasant tone of voice.
"Yes, aunt Petunia." Athena answered moving towards the stove to watch the food in the pan.
"I want everything to be perfect for my Dudley's special birthday." Petunia said, guiding her son to his presents.
"Hurry up. Bring my coffee, girl!" Vernon order's Athena while she takes the pan off the stove.
"Aren't they wonderful, darling?" Petunia asks Dudley, who's looking at his gifts.
"How many are there?" Dudley asks looking at all of them.
"Thirty-six. Counted 'em myself." Dudley's father said proudly, but that proudness left quickly when his son got angry.
"Thirty-six?! But last year I had thirty-seven." Dudley exclaimed, getting angry.
"Wow he is a spoiled little brat. How can you live with that, Athena?" Seamas questioned in disbelief, wondering how she could live there for the past 12 years.
"I ignored them the best I could. They don't talk to me, I don't talk to them. And they stopped really talking to me when I got Hogwarts letter because they were afraid that something would happen to them." Athena told them, turning to face Draco, so she could snuggle up to him.
"Err yes, well, some of them are quite bigger than last year." Vernon says, trying to keep his son calm.
"I don't care how big they are!" Dudley yells not liking that there was one less present then the year before.
"Oh, now, now, now. This is what we're going to do, is that when we go out, we're going to buy you two new presents! How's that, pumpkin?" Petunia bargains, calming him down.
Everyone that was in the house, was heading out to the car to go to the zoo. "This will be a lovely day at the zoo. I'm really looking forward to it."
As Athena was heading to the car, Vernon stops her, "I'm warning you now, girl. Any funny business, any at all, and you won't get any meals for a week."
"You will be getting a checkup, Athena Potter. And you won't be getting out of it either." Madam Pomfrey says, with the final word.
"Yes ma'am, Madam Pomfrey. Do you want to do the checkup when we take a break?" She asks the school mediwitch.
"Yes that would work." The mediwitch agrees, before sitting back to watch the movie.
Dursley's and Athena were in the reptile house at the zoo, standing in front of a snake. "Make it move." Dudley said, staring at the snake.
"Move!" Vernon knocked on the glass that was holding the snake in.
"Move!" Dudley yells knocking on glass harder than his father, as his father winces nervously not wanting to make a scene.
"He's asleep!" Athena exclaims, getting annoyed with both of them.
"He's annoying." Dudley says walking away.
"Sorry about him. He doesn't understand what it's like, lying there day after day, having people press their ugly faces in on you." Athena says leaning on the rail that's supposed to stop people from leaning on the glass. The snake winked when she got done talking, she stiffened when that happened not knowing what to do.
"Can you… hear me?" She asked in shock. The snake nodded.
"It's just… I've never talked to a snake before. do … I mean… Do you talk to people often?" Athena questioned not knowing how the snake could understand her. The snake shook its head.
"You're from Burma, aren't you? Was it nice there, do you miss your family?" Athena asks, but the snake pointing with his tail to the sign under the one that says where the breed of snake is from. "I see. That's me as well. I never knew my parents, either."
"Athena?" Sirius asks, turning towards her since he and Remus were sitting by her.
"Yes, Sirius." Athena answered looking at him with her eyebrows raised.
"Do you recognize that snake? I feel like I have seen it from somewhere." He questioned, confused looking back at the screen.
"Now that you said something that snake does look familiar." Athena says, looking closely before she gasps recognizing it.
"What. What is it? What's wrong?" Draco asks frantically, thinking somethings wrong.
"Professor Dumbledore, do you recognize that snake, because if so then we are in trouble." Athena asks Dumbledore.
"I do know that snake." He answers seriously, looking at Athena.
"What snake is that, Bambi?" Remus asks, concerned as to why Athena and Dumbledore are shocked.
"That snake is Nagini, Voldemort's snake. And I let her out of the case she was in." She answers in disbelief.
"Why don't we get back to watching the movie." Professor McGonagall says snapping her little lioness out of her thoughts.
The now awake snake had caught the attention of Dudley, when he got to the enclosure with the glass separating him from the snake, he pushed Athena out of the way to get a better look.
"Mummy, dad, come here! You won't believe what this snake is doing!" Dudley calls out to his parents, smashing his face against the glass.
Since Dudley was putting his hands on the glass and his back was turned, Athena was glaring at him from the spot on the floor where she had landed. Suddenly, there was no glass protecting the people from the snake, causing dudley to fall into the pool of water that is there for the snake.
"Whoa! Ahh! Ah!" Dudley screams while he falls. As he was falling the snake slithered out of the enclosure, stopping in front of Athena since she let out.
"Thanksss." The snake says.
"Anytime." Athena says watching the snake slither away. A lot of people were screaming trying to get away from the snake.
Athena turns back to look at Dudley, when she sees him still in the enclosure soaked, she smiles and laughs, but it doesn't last long because she notices her uncle looking at her fuming.
