Fatherhood Over Power
Disclaimer: Had this come to mind recently.
Summary: Oliver Queen, fatherhood, and choosing NOT to be Master Of The Universe.
For Oliver Jonas Queen, life the past few years had definitely not been the most easiest of times for him but honestly, he wouldn't have it any other way. As a one night stand had resulted in his becoming a single father as sadly, the mother had passed away during childbirth and rather than keep the kid, the mother's parents had given him the baby as they blamed him and the baby for the loss of their daughter. Now, his parents had been adamant he give up the baby to Foster Care as they didn't want the negative Publicity the whole thing would no doubt give them in their minds if it got out their oldest is a father at the age of 18. But Oliver had refused to give up the baby and had even seen the whole thing as a means to get out of what his parents wanted for him. Namely, one day becoming Master Of The Universe and being the future CEO of Queen Consolidated, both things not being something he wanted at all. Oliver also didn't want to become like either of his parents, his father being a cheater and his mother being someone who let it happen with no one being the wiser in the larger public. As she didn't want the perfect family angle being destroyed, though what he didn't know is that his dad's cheating had been massively curbed his mom after she put a very sharpened knife to his groin and threatened to remove it if he kept cheating.
And Robert, not willing to test his wife on her threat, gave up his cheating ways. As for Oliver though, rather than be impressed with his attitude in wanting to be a father to his child, his parents chose to cut him off from the Family Fortune and cast him out entirely with no one else being willing to help him because of his parents putting the word out about it. Forcing him to be on his own entirely with his child until a couple from Central City, Missouri, passing through on Vacation, took him in. Forever making Oliver profoundly grateful to the Allens for doing so and vehemently denying Henry Allen having any role in the murder of Nora Allen later on. Something that had even led to him getting a job at STAR Labs as a Mechanic and occasional field tester so that those working there wouldn't have to go elsewhere to get their vehicles worked on after an encounter with the Wells family that saw Harrison offering him a job after Oliver helped fix his vehicle outside of the Diner he'd been working in. This had helpfully gotten Oliver more babysitters as well and thanks to living in Central, Oliver would eventually meet the Gulong family and fall in love with Shado Gulong, someone with ambitions to become a Doctor and absolutely adored young William. He'd also learn some truths about his family thanks to the Adachis when they made contact with him and ultimately making him even happier about choosing his son over being Master Of The Universe.
Thea would, with Tommy's help after hiring a PI and personally bringing her to Oliver's, run away to her big brother's after she turned 17. Not wanting anything to do with their parents anymore after having her eyes opened to a number of things after encountering and making friends with Roy Harper and a girl who chose to only be known as Sin in the Glades section of the city. Ironically, this would be around the same time Oliver would get into a televised fight with one Mick Rory while at a park when the man showed up to cause problems. Something Oliver was none too happy about considering it endangered not only William's life but everyone else's that had been present. Which… This, combined with Thea having run away, would bring about an encounter Oliver would've been better off without and was thankful Thea and William were off with Jesse Wells at the time. Namely, said encounter being his so called parents. "Is your sister here, Oliver?" Asked Robert, choosing not to waste anytime as Moira tried to see over Oliver's shoulders into his home.
"Nope. Haven't seen her in years thanks to you two." Lied the father and Mechanic.
"Oliver-" Began Moira, only to have the door slammed in their faces.
"That was rude." Muttered the woman unhappily with her husband nodding in agreement.
"We'll stick around because there's no where else she could've gone." He decided and Moira nodded in approval.
Neither realizing Oliver was making a few calls after slamming the door in their faces.
Author's Notes: Glad I got this one out of my head! Also, with Moira in this, I was inspired by something Arlyss had done awhile back where Moira was related to Morgan Edge in some way.
