Chapter 37:
(Isabella POV)
- 6 days later -
Caleb and I went on a walk through the trees enjoying the little alone time we were granted this week. "So my Grandma clearly likes you more than me," he joked and I laughed leaning into his arm, "Well I'm pretty sure that my Tío Felix likes you more than me and he's my godfather so I guess we're even." He smiled at me, "One more week." I smiled at him, "One more week." We continued to walk, but I stopped for a second, "Have you thought more about it?" He gave me a sad smile, "It wouldn't be the same. I don't think I can." I nodded my head, "Well it's not like Daniela is going to lose her gift the option is always there if you want to." He nodded his head and we continued to walk.
We went to my favorite tree and climbed up to the platform. "Ok, it's time that we talk about something we both have been avoiding," Caleb started. "Please no," I begged but he shook his head, "Isabella we have to. We are going to be living in between Encanto and Santa Marta for as long as I'm the one doing this and we need to decide when we are in Encanto are we going to stay at the Shack or at Casita?" I groaned, leaning back, "Why did you have to say it?"
He laughed as he looked at me, "We know that this trip we have to stay in your room in Casita because of my Grandparents but, next time what do you want to do?" I looked over at him, "I don't know. I love my family and I love Casita, but a part of me likes that we could have a place that is just ours." Caleb laughed, "Especially because in Santa Marta we are going to have my Grandparents." I smiled up at him, "Can't we just make that decision when it comes time for us to come back here for the first time." He smiled at me, "You want to save this discussion for another 2 months?" I rapidly nodded my head, "Come on our wedding is tomorrow. Please?" He sighed, "Alright."
I smiled at him, "You know that the minute we go back to our families we aren't going to be able to see each other until the wedding." He nodded his head, "Yeah, if only you didn't tell your sisters about this spot we could have disappeared for the rest of the day." I looked up at him, "I was having a bad day." He scoffed, "It was your birthday and I came to visit." "Not at that point," I defended. We both stared at each other before laughing. I looked up at him, "Hey, you know I love you, right?" He nodded his head, "Yeah I kind of figured when you said yes to the proposal. You know I love you too?" I nodded my head, "The commuting relationship between both our hometowns kind of clued me in."
I let out a breath, "You sure you want to marry me?" He nodded his head, "Yeah, I'm sure. You?" I nodded my head as I leaned it against his shoulder, "Yeah. I wouldn't want to do this with anyone else." He kissed the top of my head as we saw the trees ruffling. I sigh, "What are the odds that they are looking for you?" He laughed, "I'm not the bride." I sighed, "Why did I have to be the bride again?" He laughed again, "Because like you said before, you are sure you want to marry me."
I looked up at him, "You saw them coming, didn't you?" He shrugged, "I really couldn't say." I groan, "You are a jerk." We heard a voice call out, "Caleb?" I smiled at him as I slid my legs up on the platform to try and hid myself. I heard Mirabel, "Caleb, there you are." He smiled and waved down to her, "Hey do you need me?" I then heard her say, "Kind of. I'm looking for Isabella." I lean my head back and let out a breath before sliding forward to see Mirabel, "Yes?" She smiled at me, "Great I found you, we have so much to do before tomorrow..."
I held my hand up stopping her thinking about how agonizingly long the day sounded, "I'll tell you what. You guys can plan everything. I do not care about anymore of these details, I didn't care about the ones we already covered. I have my dress, venue, cake and reception done. That's all I really care about. Just tell me what time to show up and I'll be there dressed and with a smile on my face." Mirabel looked up at me, "This is your wedding present." Thank you," I said as I let my head fall back. I then turned to Caleb who was giving me a look, "What I want to be married to you but, planning a wedding not really my thing." He nodded his head, "Can't blame you, not my thing either." I kissed him, "I know."
(Caleb POV)
- the next day -
I stood in my suit as I looked over at the priest. We decided against getting married in the church and decided to get married in a place much more sentimental. We were standing under the tree just near the no longer blocked cavern. A line of cacti stood on each side of our make-shift aisle. It was only our families, granted hers was pretty big. I smiled as I saw Isabella. She had a flower powder died skirt that went into her white dress that she also had grown vines. It was very her. I looked at her face and saw her smile which made my smile broaden.
When the ceremony was over we had a small reception at Casita. As I danced with Isabella I looked at her and asked, "Are you happy?" She smiled at me, "Yeah, I really am. You?" I nodded my head, "Couldn't be happier." She rested her head on my chest, "The shack." I looked at her, "I think that when we are here we should stay at the shack." I nodded my head, "You sure, I mean this house is kind of perfect." She rested her head on my shoulder, "Perfect is overrated."
Author's Note:
