The next time she saw Harry he told her that McGonagall had pulled him out to make him Gryffindor's new seeker. The conversation ended with Harry recounting how he had been unsure of taking the position until Professor McGonagall had told him that his father had been a good seeker.
During lunch, Sombra and Alia were talking to a boy from their year called Anthony Goldstein until they heard an explosion behind them. All the Ravenclaws who heard it jumped and whipped around to see what happened. The cause of the explosion had been the failed attempt of a Gryffindor named Seamus to turn his water into rum.
Later, the Sombra, Alia, Harry, Ron, and Hermione were trying to get to their common rooms when all of a sudden, the stairs moved. The group got off the staircase on the third floor and entered it.
"Anyone feel like we shouldn't be here?" Ron asked.
"That's because we're not supposed to be. The third floor's forbidden." Sombra stated.
"Let's get out of here." Harry said.
They turned around only to see Mrs. Norris looking up at them.
"It's Filch's cat." Hermione gasped.
"Run!" Alia exclaimed.
The group ran until they came across a room.
"We'll hide through this door!" Harry shouted. He tried to open the door. "Locked!"
Sombra pointed her wand at the lock. "Alohamora!"
The group went into the room and closed the door behind them.
They held their breaths until Filch left.
"Filch is gone." Hermione observed.
"Probably thinks this door is locked." Ron said.
Sombra and Harry turned away from the door and froze in fear when they saw he gigantic dog in front of them.
"It was locked." Alia said
"And for good reason." Harry said fearfully.
The dog woke up and stood to its full height, towering over the children. The group of five remained petrified until the dog growled. Then they started screaming, ran out the door, and immediately started to push the door closed. Pushing with all their strength, they managed to get it shut.
The second they got out of there, and were back on track to their common rooms Ron exploded.
"What were they thinking!?" He shouted. "Keeping a thing like that locked in a school!"
"Are you legally blind or what?" Alia demanded. "Didn't you see what it was standing on?"
"I was a bit preoccupied with its three heads to look at its feet!" Ron exclaimed.
"It was standing on a trapdoor." Sombra explained. "Which means he's guarding something."
"And it's obviously important otherwise they wouldn't have that thing to take care of it." Hermione added.
"Guarding something?" Harry wondered.
"Yes." Hermione said.
"But what?" He inquired.
"I haven't got a clue," Alia said, "and if you'll excuse me, I'm going to bed before either of you comes up with another brilliant way to get us killed."
"Or worse," Sombra shuddered. "Expelled."
As the two walked towards Ravenclaw Tower, they heard Ron shout after them: "You have got to sort out your priorities!"
Once they got to the tower, they knocked the knocker and it said: "The more of me you take the more you leave behind. What am I?"
"Footsteps." Sombra and Alia said simultaneously.
"Correct." The door swung open and the two walked up to the dorm room they shared.
As soon as they got up there, they set their wands aside and changed into nightgowns.
"Goodnight, Sombra." Alia yawned.
"Goodnight Alia." Sombra responded.
After her eventful evening, Sombra had no trouble at all drifting to the land of Hypnos.
She opened her eyes. All around her were trees. It was night.
'Where am I?' she wondered.
"Hello?" She called. "Is anyone there?"
As her eyes scanned for someone, she caught sight of a silhouette in the distance. She didn't know what or who it was, but she had a bad feeling about it. Sombra backed up as the thing got closer. Once it was in her line of sight, she could see that it was slightly hunched over and was wearing a black cloak, making it look like a wraith. Terrified, she tried to turn around and run, but she tripped over a tree root and was unable to do anything other than scoot backwards desperately as the creature reached out for her.
"Sombra." A distorted voice called.
The last thing she saw was the creature's hands obscuring her vision before she blacked out.
Sombra woke up gasping for breath.
Alia stirred. "Sombra, are you okay?"
"I-i," She stammered. "I was in a forest. There was this-this thing. It r-reached out for me. Called my name a-and grabbed at me!" Sombra said rapidly.
Alia paused to consider her words. "Did it feel almost real?"
"Of course it felt real! All nightmares feel real!"
"No. I mean, could you focus in on every single detail of the scenery."
"What has that got-" Sombra stopped. "You think it was a vision."
"I think it's not the type of dream people have on a nightly basis." Alia said cautiously. "For all we know it could be."
"I should probably tell Professor Flitwick about this shouldn't I?"
"Probably. And maybe see if he can get you in contact with Professor Trelawney too." Alia suggested.
"Well, it's already morning. We can go now."
"Good idea."
The two friends changed and headed to Professor Flitwick's office. Once they got there, Sombra reached up to knock but paused. Noticing her hesitation, Alia knocked on the door.
After a bit, Professor Flitwick poked his head out. "Good morning, Ms. Black and Ms. Baron." Flitwick noticed the troubled looks on their faces. "Is everything alright?"
"We need to tell you something." Sombra said softly.
Sensing the urgency of the situation, the Head of Ravenclaw house opened his door. "Of course. Come on in."
The girls entered his office and told him about Sombra's dream. After they had finished, Flitwick sat in silence for a bit; contemplating what had been related to him. "Well, it would seem as though Ms. Black here has had a divination."
"Does that mean she saw the future?" Alia questioned. "Is this thing actually going to corner her in a forest and grab her?"
"Perhaps not." Professor Flitwick said. "Visions can be tricky things. It is quite possible that it merely means this thing, whatever it was, means to use Ms. Black for something. The setting could insinuate that she will meet this creature in a forest. However, I am not the best person to ask." Turning to Sombra he asked her: "Would you like me to contact Professor Trelawny and set a time for you to meet with her?"
Sombra nodded. "Yes please, Professor."
Flitwick smiled. "I will do that as soon as I see her this morning at breakfast. Just know, Ms. Black, that I am always here for you. For both of you." He said.
The two of them smiled. "Thank you, Professor."
They headed to breakfast and sat down at the table. Sombra was rather distracted; thinking about her dream. Although she put some food on her plate, she didn't eat very much. Her other Ravenclaw friend, Anthony, noticed that she didn't say or eat much and asked Alia if she was okay. Alia replied that Sombra was fine, and that she'd had a nightmare.
Directly after breakfast, Professor Flitwick told her that Professor Trelawney had agreed to meet her before her Charms Class.
Since she had some time, Sombra went to the Universal Common Room. The Common Room was a place where people could chat with their friends from other houses.
When she got there, she saw Harry sitting on a couch and went to sit next to him.
"Hi, Harry."
Harry turned and smiled at her. "Hey, Sombra. How are you?"
"Good. How are you?"
"I'm good..." Harry seemed to notice Sombra was a bit off. "Are you okay?"
She sighed. "I had a really bad nightmare, and I'm starting to think it was a vision."
"Oh..." Harry paused. "That doesn't sound fun."
"Mhm." Sombra agreed. "So I'm going to meet with Professor Trelawney in a bit to discuss my dream and see if it was actually a vision." She checked the time. "In fact, I should be heading over right now."
"Good luck." Harry said brightly.
Sombra smiled at him. "Thanks."
As she stood in front of Professor Trelawney's office, Sombra felt her overactive mind start bursting with things that could go wrong. Calming herself, she knocked softly on the door.
How did you like it? Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I was getting tons of things figured out and life has been really crazy lately. Anyway, I'm changing the title of this fic, so be in the lookout for that. The new title is going to be The Eternal Stone. For obvious reasons.
