Chapter 15 London of california
Back in London, Brenda met Laura and Scott at Charlie's "The Harp" to show wedding photos.
"I would have loved to be there as Kelly howled. I would have just laughed at her. Such a bitch." Scott grimaced disparagingly at her name.
"I certainly enjoyed the sight of her." Brenda grinned.
"And now everything is alright between you again?" Laura raised her eyebrow.
"No." Brenda laughed. "Well, she's my sister-in-law now. Brandon loves her. I will be polite to her. But nothing more. Plus, she's now moving in with Brandon in Washington."
"And when are you going back to L.A.?" Scott winked at her.
"How do you know?" Brenda was surprised.
"Darling, as soon as you got on the plane with Dylan and Toni, we knew you were going to get home. You have always refused. Be it Brandon's near wedding or Donna's father's funeral or even Donna's wedding. You always refused."
"What do you mean by that?" Now Brenda raised her eyebrow.
"You have now found your inner peace. You came here in college because you wanted to get away from Beverly hills. Now you have all grown up and can deal with each other normally. I don't want to influence you, but if you really want to go back to the States, go. We will not stand in your way."
Scott took Brenda's hand.
"From the beginning, your happiness was most important to us. We had a great time together that nobody wants to miss. We always had so much fun together. Be it here or on tour."
"And what about Roy?" Brenda fought back tears.
Now Laura came too. "Roy has been expecting you to leave for 7 years. He is no longer the youngest."
Brenda took a sip of Coke. Roy had been the first to believe in her and encouraged her.
She owed him everything. The conversation would not be easy for her. After the conversation, she went back home to Dylan and Toni.
"Hi baby. How was it with Charlie?" Dylan greeted her with a hug.
"If I didn't know better, I'd think you've all colluded." Brenda took off her jacket.
"Why?"
"Because Laura and Scott also think we belong in L.A."
"Baby, you know my opinion." Dylan hugged her again. "The main thing is that the three of us are together."
Brenda closed her eyes and enjoyed Dylan's closeness.
"Let's go to the park." She looked him in the eye.
"Okay." Dylan raised an eyebrow.
With Brenda on one hand and the stroller on the other, the two went for a walk. Brenda looked at the area as if she were here for the first time.
At one point in the park, Dylan stopped, turned to Brenda, and kissed her passionately.
"Wow, what was that for?" murmured Brenda against Dylan's lip.
"I wanted to show you how much I love you."
"I love you too." They sank again.
"And you can really imagine staying here forever?"
"Of course," Dylan whispered.
"Good." Brenda looked at him. "We're going back to America."
Dylan couldn't believe his ears. "How? Do you really mean that?"
"Yes, I want to be closer to my parents and Iris and Erica. I want the beach again, I want Toni to go to West Beverly sometime and I want nice weekends with you in Palm Springs and hot nights on the beach."
Dylan was speechless.
"Baby?" He hugged Brenda so hard that she almost lost her balance. "You're going to get it all. I promise you that."
Brenda held tightly to Dylan. Yes, Laura and Scott were right. Brenda should think of herself and her own family.
Roy was in his office. Brenda knocked on his door.
"Come in." Roy was sitting at his desk. „Hi Brenda. I was expecting you." He looked at her with his blue eyes.
"Hi Roy." with shaky knees, Brenda entered his office and closed the door.
"Please sit down." he offered her a chair.
Brenda sat down. She looked at her hands, took a deep breath and immediately began.
"Roy, I need to confess something to you."
"You want to tell me you're leaving me." Roy smiled at her.
"How do you know?"
"Laura has already told me."
Brenda looked at her hands. Then she looked at Roy again. She tried to read his face. But Roy was a professional.
"Now Brenda, I hate to let you go. You're one of my best performers."
"Roy, I will never forget what you did for me."
Roy's face softened.
"Brenda, you don't have to justify yourself. I already knew 7 years ago that you are talented and just need the right education. Everything has been confirmed. I know you don't leave London because you have to. But because you want to. And I respect that."
Then Roy did what he had never done before. He stood up, walked over to Brenda, and took her head between his hands.
"Always do what your heart tells you. Always do what's right for you I don't want to see anything else from you."
He gave Brenda a kiss on the forehead and gently released her.
Brenda ran down a tear. "I love you Roy."
Roy looked at her and walked to his desk. He pulled open a drawer and handed Brenda a business card.
"What's that?" Brenda was confused.
"You met my friend Barry."
Brenda nodded.
"Well, when you're back in L.A. until Barry waits for your call. He would be happy to work with you."
Now it was over with Brenda. She cried.
Roy hugged Brenda again, then turned back to his desk and Brenda left his office. Outside, she ran into Laura. Wordlessly, she took Brenda in her arms.
"Brenda, you're doing the right thing. You belong in L.A." She stroked her back.
"I will miss you." Brenda was honest.
"When are you flying back?" Laura smiled at her.
"Once Steve found a house for us. He and Dylan probably already have something planned."
"Then we still have enough time to say goodbye." Laura hooked Brenda under the arm and together with the others they went to Charlie.
Brenda didn't know what Dylan and Steve had discussed. She only noticed that it went very fast. In the middle of the night, Dylan's phone vibrate. Sleep-drunk, Dylan took his arm from Brenda and reached for his bedside table. Brenda woke up too.
"What's going on?" she murmured.
"A message from Steve." continued typing. "He found something for us."
Brenda was suddenly awake. "So fast."
Dylan wiped the sleep from his eyes with his fingers. "He's already sent me photos. When we are awake, we should look at them."
Brenda looked at the clock. Of course. Now it was 10 p.m. in Beverly Hills. Steve was still awake. Brenda snuggled up to Dylan's chest again.
"Steve wrote when we were awake. We're not awake yet."
"No, we're not awake yet." Dylan closed his phone and turned his attention to Brenda.
At breakfast, Dylan checked his emails. first Steve's. He had sent photos of the house. Dylan didn't realize that Brenda was standing behind him with Toni in her arms. He folded his hands behind his head. He touched Brenda. He immediately grabbed her hip and pulled her onto his lap.
"What do you think?"
Brenda looks at the gorgeos Craftsman. It was honestly a beautiful home. It was grey in color, with white trim. It had remarkable brick work that led up the long pathway up to the house. The pillars done in an exquisite rock that matched the grey respectably. The porch wide and inviting that looked out onto a quiet clean street. Brenda was in love with it and she hadn´t even gone inside yet.
"Are there photos of the inside?"
"No. It is currently being renovated." Dylan looked at Brenda lovingly. "What do you say?"
"I say we're moving." Brenda placed her lips on Dylan and immediately felt his mouth open. She did the same. Then Toni got in touch and her parents broke away grinning.
"When can we move in?"
"Already next month. Then we can take the Thanksgiving meal as a farewell dinner. and by Christmas we are already in our new house."
Brenda looked at Dylan. „I love you."
„I love you." Dylan looked lovely at her.
Dylan took his daughter on his lap.
"And I'll teach you how to surf first."
And at that moment, Brenda looked at Dylan. She hadn't had any doubts about moving, but at that moment everything seemed so clear to her.
Yes, they returned home together.
For the last time, Brenda wanted to prepare her traditional Thanksgiving meal.
But Dylan stopped her.
"Wait."
Brenda was about to get a pot when Dylan suddenly stood behind her, put his hands on hers and started kissing her by the neck.
"Dylan." Brenda closed her eyes. She couldn't move. Dylan did not let himself be influenced, kissed her further. "I have to start slowly," she whispered.
"No, you don't have to." Dylan turned her around and pressed his lips to hers. "You dress up now and then we'll go." Dylan kissed her again.
"Where are we going?" whispered Brenda, still whispering.
"You'll see." Dylan deepened his kiss again before they broke away.
Her path led her to Charlie. The pub looked closed from the outside. But when Brenda opened the door, she was amazed. The pub was decorated with American flags and there was a festively decorated table in the middle. Charlotte, Evan, Scott, Leon and Laura were already waiting.
"Happy Thanksgiving." They shouted. Brenda was so touched.
Then Charlie came happily out of the kitchen.
"And here is my first and last turkey."
Charlie placed a huge plate in the middle of the table.
"We didn't want you to be standing in the kitchen between moving boxes." Scott hugged Brenda.
"You've made so much food for us. Now it was our turn." Charlotte smiled at her.
Brenda was in tears. "You make it very difficult for me."
"Now everyone sit down and bon appétit." Shouted charlie and distributed the turkey.
Dylan gave Brenda a kiss and sat down next to her at the table.
It was a delicious meal. And for dessert there was mousse au chocolat.
And that's not all.
After dinner, everyone went to the theater so Brenda could say goodbye to her second home. The McKays took a seat in the front row and then it was already dark. A voice sounded.
"7 1/2 years ago, a young, beautiful, determined student from distant America came to us in London. She wanted to study at RADA. She did, and with success. No wonder. None other than our esteemed roy randolph had discovered it."
Roy entered the stage and stood with Laura.
"This young student was successful and graduated quickly. When she finished her studies, Roy brought her to us where Scott immediately fell in love with her."
Scott appeared on stage.
"We became a strong team, travelled together and had wonderful years together. But then her weird ex-boyfriend came from the States."
Leon came on stage wearing a wig. At the sight of him, Brenda and Dylan burst into laughter. So did Roy, Scott and Laura.
"This weird ex-boyfriend had nothing better to do than turn our Brenda into a wife and mom."
Charlotte came on stage with a baby doll.
"And a home visit made the young family want to go back to the States."
Last Evan appeared on stage as a typical Californian with sunglasses.
"And that's why we say goodbye to you and a new happy life in sunny California." Laura finished her moderation and all the actors joined hands.
In tears, Brenda and Dylan stood up and applauded. Then they went on stage.
"Everything we wanted to tell you, enjoy your happiness and think of us from time to time."
"We will never forget you." Brenda hugged everyone one by one.
Then Roy came to her with a huge bouquet of flowers. Exactly the one Brenda got at her premiere for "Cat on the Hot Tin Roof".
He gave her a kiss on the left and kiss on the right and applauded her at the end.
It was time for the Mckays to leave.
At the door, Brenda looked at the stage for the last time until she took Dylan by the hand and they happily left the theater together.
Yes, Brenda and Dylan are returning to the States. With this chapter I just wanted to say that Brenda, away from Beverly Hills, had a beautiful and peaceful life with great friends in London. And that she hadn't missed Beverly Hills.
