Once Sophie had gone with Daisy to get her cleaned up, she had gone to the cliffhangers classroom and collected the girls and took them to a room in the lodge where they would have some privacy. Sophie proceeded to tell the girls what had happened.
"She used a razor blade and I need to figure out where she got it from" Sophie expressed. "It looks like she was searching through your bags that were in the bathroom, so if you know where she got it from then you need to tell me now." They all looked around at each other Jules feeling incredibly guilty.
"She wasn't supposed to use it, god why did she have to go through my stuff" Juliet said after a few minutes of silence. Sophie looked at Jules in shock, she thought she had overcome this.
"Where did you get it from?" Sophie asked calmly.
"I snuck it in" Jules said looking down, embarrassed.
"Okay you lot can go back to class just don't tell the boys anything yet i'll tell them in a little bit. Kat can i talk to you a minute." Sophie said. Kat nodded and stayed behind.
"Can you keep an eye out on them especially Jules please."
"Yeah sure, can you let us know as soon as you have news on Shelby."
"Yeah no worries" Sophie replied and Kat left the room. Sophie then walked to Peters office and called him from the landline.
"Hey Peter how is she?"
"The doctors says she lost a lot of blood, but they are optimistic."
"Well that's good right?"
"Yeah it means she is fighting, which i don't get unless she regretted it after she did it."
"Yeah, is she even going to be able to stay at Horizon?"
"I'm not sure yet Soph, she'll have to get a psych evaluation and if her mother decides she doesn't want her daughter to stay at Horizon anymore then there's nothing we can do." "Oh and before i forget, where did she get a razor blade from?"
"It was in Jules bag, Shelby stole it. I have Kat keeping a close eye on her just in case and i'll talk to her again later. And i will go tell the boys in a minute since they don't know yet, i just wanted to give them something." "Look I've got to go i'll call you later." Sophie then put down the phone and sat in Peter's chair, this was going to be hard, telling the boys especially Scott. She waited until after their lesson was over and took the boys into a quiet room like she had done with the girls and told them about what had happened.
At the hospital
Peter was sat in the waiting room after hearing that Shelby may pull through, he was still waiting for Shelby's mom to turn up. She soon turned up, her other daughter following behind.
"What the hell happened to my daughter she is supposed to be supervised."
"Ms Merrick please calm down, we cannot watch them 24/7 that's disobeying their rights."
"Yeah well how did this happen?" she asked.
"Jess why don't you go take a seat, it's okay me and you mom are just gonna talk for a moment." Peter asked nicely.
"But..."
"Go on Jess i'll be there in a moment." Jess sighed and walked over to a chair on the other side of the waiting room.
"Shelby was looking through he other girls toiletries bags who she lives with and found a razor blade, I think you understand the rest of it."
"Why would she do that, did something happen at Horizon?"
"Not that i am aware of, but lately she has not been participating in class, she seems more tired, and she looks skinnier."
"Well then I'm taking her home, cause you clearly are not helping her your making her worse."
"Ms Merrick she has to have a psych evaluation to decide whether to move her to a psychiatric ward." She didn't reply, she stormed off to her daughter in the waiting room.
Several days had passed and Shelby's 72 hour old was nearly up, she had no idea where she would end up now, she was supposed to be dead, not locked up like some crazy chick. There was no way she was going back home, not in that house full of the haunting memories which made her end up here in the first place. The drugs they had been giving her was making the memories less severe than they were but she would still wake up sweating at a stupid time in the morning. She had rejected any visitors that came she didn't want anyone to see her like this, especially Peter and Sophie. Her mother had come by too, but there was no way she was going to let her see her as she is the main reason that she is in this stupid ward in the first place. As long as she said the right things she could get out of here and anywhere, maybe she'll travel, take Jess with her. She had a sit down with the doctor later today to see if she could become an outpatient or whether she would have to stay longer. She tried to get a nap in before the doctor came, but she would wake up every 20 minutes or so. Before she knew it there was a knock on the door, Shelby turned around to see the doctor standing in the doorway.
"Hi Shelby, can I come in?"
"Sure" she came in the room and sat on the chair near her bed.
"How are you feeling?"
"Fine."
"Okay. Well Shelby as you may know your 72 hour hold is nearly up and i am here to come to a decision on whether you will have to stay longer. Do you understand?" She nodded.
"Okay, firstly i want to start by asking why you did not want to see any of your visitors"
"I didn't want them to see me like this, weak and pathetic, and i don't want to see that pathetic excuse of a mother."
"Shelby you are not weak or pathetic, many people struggle with their mental health and so many don't get help, your not classed as weak if you ask for help." Shelby just nodded, tearing up a little bit. "Do you not have a good relationship with your mother?"
"i don't wanna talk about it."
"Its okay if your not ready to talk about it. Now when did you start struggling with your mental health?"
"I guess when I was 11 maybe."
"That's awfully young."
"Yeah well that's just life"
"Shelby, that's not on you, you were just a child."
"Do you have idea why it started so young?"
"I'm not sure" she said trying to make it convincing.
"Alright thank you for speaking with me, I'll check up on you in a little bit okay."
"Yeah okay."
