Chapter 1: Enter the horror.

"My son… angel of darkness…

An unjust god wishes to plungeth the world into death and destruction…

Shed thy wings of darkness, and don thy crown of light.

When the time comes, thou shalt join me in heaven, as a Whisper.

I shalt watch over thee, in times of strife, and in times of sorrow. I am with thee, always...

My precious Gabriel."

The darkness faded, and light followed after. A white-haired teen slowly opened his eyes and saw himself lying in a hospital bed. The beeping of monitors and sensors gradually awakened him, and a short brown-haired girl sat beside the boy in anticipation. "You're finally awake, says Misaka Misaka relived you're still alive." The girl spoke in the third person. The teen struggled to say anything. His body was so covered in casts and bandages, he could not find the strength to speak. The girl gave him a hug. "The doctors said you weren't going to survive. But I knew you would be fine, Misaka Misaka explains." This little girl seems to know him somehow. Do they have some sort of history together? It sure seems that way, with how familiarly she spoke with him.

The teen spoke up. "Who are you? Where am I?" he asked. The girl looked disappointed.
"They did tell me you might have amnesia from the crash. But, you'll recover, right? Asks Misaka Misaka hoping you don't forget her."
"I… still don't know your name." The teen said. "Or even who I am."
"My name is Last Order, and you go by Accelerator!" the girl said softly. "We were on a trip to Hawaii when our plane crashed here. You tried to shield me from the impact, but..." she paused.

"But... what?" the boy asked, not sure if 'Accelerator' would be a proper name for him.
"Your Vector powers got turned off, and you lost your memory as a result, Misaka Misaka explains trying to hold back tears."
Vector powers? Was he a superhero or something before this? "Don't tell me that I have super powers..."
"Well, not really. Do you... feel anything, asks Misaka Misaka?"
"If I lost my memory, how would I know how to use my supposed 'powers?'" Accelerator asked. Last Order shook her head.
"I don't know." she said.

Accelerator, still bound to the bed, looked around him. There were a few signs that read 'Alchemilla Hospital' on them, with various safety slogans printed. "What town is this?" he asked Last Order.
"Silent Hill." she replied. "It's a resort town. We had a hard time getting you here with all the fog though. We couldn't see past a few feet in front of us."
"We?"
"A nurse came out to help me carry you here, Misaka Misaka explains to you." she gave a light smile.

So he has amnesia. Okay, that seems reasonable. But the kid's telling him he has some sort of superpower as well. This seemed to be a bit farfetched for the boy to believe. For all he knew, he never even met this girl before and she might be some random kid playing a prank. He decided he would play along, until the truth was revealed to him. "You know, this place gives me the creeps," he looked out his windows into the foggy streets below. Snow and frost formed elaborate patterns on the glass, further obscuring his view. The window was essentially a grey square on the wall now. "I feel like I'm in some edgy gothic depiction of London with modern street lamps and a terrible PS1 draw distance."
"I don't like this place either, but we won't be staying here long. After a few days, we'll board a plane back home." No plane was going to take off in this weather. They would have to wait until the fog goes away, if it ever does.

"The doctors said you might be able to walk by now, so they asked me to give this cane to you, says Misaka Misaka wanting to ask you something."
"What is it?" the teen asked.
"Do you... want to go get something from the vending machine, Misaka Misaka asks with mild embarrassment?" she handed him about $15 of cash. "Our money was no good here, so they gave us 15 dollars in exchange for 1500 yen." she explained.
"We're from Japan?" Accelerator asked.
"You couldn't tell?" the girl uncovered Accelerator to get him to stand. "Let's see what they have here. Okay?"

Simply putting his leg on the floor was enough to send a jolt of pain up his body. Last Order gave him his cane and tried her best to support him by grabbing hold of his waist. Accelerator politely declined her help, ant the two of them went into the hall. The girl explained their situation further, saying the two of them were wanting to go on vacation after something called World War 3. Their plane was meant to fly over to Hawaii, but their plane crashed. There were no other survivors that she knew of. Accelerator then mentioned that before he woke up, a voice spoke to him, calling him her son. She thought nothing of it, but kept it in mind. She thought that a man with amnesia had no reason to lie unless he was some sort of psychopath.

Another thing on his mind was this... feeling. He shouldn't be here, and yet, he feels like he was called here. Like there was something for him to do here. As the two bought snacks from the machine in the hall, he overheard the hospital staff talk about rumors surrounding the town. For example, someone saw some sort of monster that only he could see. One patient even claimed a monster almost bit his hand off, and had the scars to prove it. Even though he had amnesia, Accelerator knew better than to trust rumors. However, what was that voice he heard? What did it mean? Was she talking about this town? Or something else? Either way, he couldn't ignore it. He felt it had to be important.

The nurses, doctors, and staff were all nervous about something. Like they'd all seen something that shook them to their core. Accelerator also overheard a rumor about this 'other world' where people are often sent after they hear the sounds of an air raid siren. All these rumors were all too similar for Accelerator to shrug off like they were nothing. There just had to be something to these rumors spreading around. Returning to his room, Accelerator asked one of the nurses what was going on with everyone. "From what I hear, this town is haunted. That's why there haven't been many visitors lately. What's worse, nobody can leave the town because the roads are all blocked." the nurse explained to him as the teen sat back down on his bed bunk, opening his bag of chips.
"And what about the monsters that everyone keeps talking about?" Accelerator asked. Just then, air raid sirens started blaring.
