The Slayers Become the Slain
Chapter 1: Unsatisfied Hunger and the Doomed Legion
Within a deep void the Entity sits, feeding on the souls of the sacrificed as they are absorbed into her gaseous essence, however, the Entity had grown weary of such small morsels that it let out a loud sigh.
"So it seems the souls from the survivors can no longer satiate my hunger...perhaps it's time to try a new prey to feast upon…" the entity grumbled, her gaseous limbs solidifying as they glowed with crimson light, a pentagram forming before him that glowed with brilliant light.
"I call forth the gatekeeper of hell, the one chosen by man to keep the demons from ever breaching their hellish realm. I summon thee to reap the souls of the wicked who have grow drunk with power in my realm of torture and torment!" The entity decreed, forming a knife from thin air to cut her palm, letting her blood drip to the ground as tribute to the ritual. Within the pentagram an image of a tall, strong looking man in heavy green battle armor could be seen fighting hordes of hellish beings, discarding their corpses one after another as he brutally murdered them all.
The entity sat back upon her throne, threading her fingers upon her lap as she gazed in both amusement and satisfaction as the man in the pentagram suddenly vanished in a red flash of light, the Entity let out a fit of maniacal laughter as she transported the Doom Slayer as the new killer of her hunting grounds.
"This shall be most amusing, let's see how strong Hell's guardian truly is," the Entity said, completely satisfied with her decision as she watched his arrival upon the hunting grounds.
As they had hundreds of times before, the Legion found themselves in a new hunting ground, but to their surprise, they had all been reunited. Frank, Julie, Susie, and Joey looked at one another, confused by the turn of events as they gazed around the hunting ground.
"What the hell? Why are we all here together?" Frank asked curious, unease filling his very being as Julie walked up to him to rest her head on his shoulder.
"What's the matter, not happy to see me or Susie or Joey again? I think this is wonderful, we can finally hunt the survivors together again!" Julie said behind her mask with a grin, the other two confused by the turn of events.
"If that's true, then why can't I sense the aura of any survivors? We are always brought into these realms together but all I sense is you three," Joey called out, the rest of them puzzled as they quickly came to the same realization.
"If we were to be sacrificed I doubt the Entity would let us have our weapons, and since we each have them, I doubt we're going to be hunted…" Susie stated as she began playing with her knife, the 4 of them all leaving their shack. That's when a booming voice came from overhead.
"Legion, you four have brought me countless souls to feed upon, however, amongst all of my killers, you four have reaped the least. As punishment, you four have now become the hunted. I suggest you work quickly, or none of you will make it out alive," the booming voice of the Entity struck like thunder as a crash of lightning struck the ground across the map.
"We're the hunted?! What kind of bullshit is this?! I say we find our "Killer" and tear him to pieces," Julie shouted, all of them nodding in agreement as they stuck close together, moving around the vicinity like a pack of wolves. As they approached where the lightning had struck, a heartbeat began to throb in their minds, the sounds of a threatening metal guitar shrieking through the air with an intense volume before becoming a full blown melody that thrashed above them.
"What the hell is that noise?!" Susie cried out, the four of them pausing as they surveyed the area, the grinding sounds of ferocious metal guitar causing their hearts to race as it grew in volume. They all quickly brandished their knives as its volume grew to deafening proportions, easily masking any physical presence that encroached upon them. Suddenly, from a top one of the buildings, a burly man in army green body armor leapt to the ground, quaking it with his landing.
"Cut him to ribbons!" the four friends yelled, all of them entering a feral frenzy as they ran wildly at the intimidating presence. Frank was the first to leap at the armor clad man, who snagged him out of the air by his throat, lifting him up like he weighed nothing.
"LET HIM GO!" Julie shrieked, jumping onto the man's back before repeatedly stabbing him over and over again desperately. A light grunt escaped the man's lips, its tone muffled by his helmet as he slammed Frank into the ground, catching Julie's wrist as she went for another stab. With a quick flick of his wrist, a loud cracking noise came from her wrist, followed by a ghastly wail of pain from Julie herself before also being put into the ground. Frank and the others quickly dispersed as the Doom Slayer picked up the knife that Julie had been brandishing, turning its blade down as Julie began to sob loudly.
"Anybody...please help...I-I've killed so many people, I can't die now," Julie cried but was swiftly silenced as he own knife was driven through both the mask and her forehead, brutally being pulled out before the rest of her skull being crushed beneath a solid stomp of his boot.
"One down…" he said quietly, feeling a power well up inside him as he analyzed the knife through his helmet's visor.
"I see...so the weapons give them powers...interesting…" he mumbled before sheathing the blade into a pocket and trouncing off to search for the others.
"I can't believe we left Julie to die, she was our friend!" Susie yelled at the two boys as they worked on a generator, much like they had seen the survivors do countless times.
"It's survival of the fittest now Susie so stop bitching and keep watch!" Joey shouted, Susie snarling at them before returning to watch duty. Sweat began pouring down their mask-covered faces as they feverishly worked on the generator, the engine finally letting out a loud growl as it became active. Suddenly, the thrashing metal sound of the Doom Slayer's terror radius surrounded them, causing them to quickly leave the generator behind and find another. Quickly however, the Doom Slayer began gaining ground on them, Joey growling as he found that they'd be out paced.
"You two, find a generator, I'll distract the soldier! Go now!" Joey ordered, activating his feral frenzy as he stood between the Doom Slayer and the remnants of the Legion.
"Come get me ass hole!" Joey shouted, using the power of feral frenzy to run at intense speeds. The Doom Slayer placed a hand on the handle of the knife he picked off of Julie, his body suddenly feeling an intense rush of pure adrenaline before chasing after Joey, catching up to him with ease. As Joey attempted to vault a window, the Doom Slayer grabbed his ankle and ripped him from the window.
"H-How did you catch up so fast?! Joey screamed out of frustration, the Doom Slayer revealing Julie's knife that was dimly glowing much like his own.
"Oh shi…" before Joey could finish his statement his whole body was slammed to the ground viciously, an Earth shattering screaming escaping his mask as he had his spine crushed with a vicious stomp, his growls of pain being silenced as his head was then crushed in much like Julie's leaving a gore filled mess across the ground. Picking up Joey's knife, he brandished both knives in his hands, feeling a surge of energy course through him as he ran towards the closest sound of a generator in the midst of repair.
"I hear him coming, we're doomed Frank, he killed Julie and Joey so easily that I'm actually afraid of something for the first time in my life…" Susie whined as she helped Frank with the generator. Frank was in full survival mode, ready to abandon the last of his fellow Legion to die if necessary. Spotting the Doom Slayer he immediately got off of the generator, sprinting it in the opposite direction. Susie on the other hand decided to accept her fate, resting on her knees as if her head were about to be put onto a guillotine.
"I'll deal with you last…" the Doom Slayer said through his helmet as he came upon the cowering killer, who shook her head and began begging for him to slay her as the Doom Slayer kicked the generator hard to stop it. He then took off, leaving Susie to wallow in her own despair. Frank desperately worked on a generated, using his feral frenzy to speed up the process by heightening his reflexes and thinking. In almost no time at all the generator was completed, a smirk crawling on his face as he continued running off.
"With Susie distracting him, I can find the hatch and get out of here…" Frank cackled, the original generator he and Susie were working on becoming complete. Looking around frantically, Frank finally spotted the hatch, going into hiding as he awaited for it to pop open, however, as he waited, the Doom Slayer's terror radius grew louder and louder until it was too much to bear. He looked out a window he was next to, slowly crawling through it to look around when suddenly the harsh stabbing pain of a knife ran right through his spine, the Doom Slayer now stabbing him in the back with the other kids over and over again as he relished in the psychos please for mercy.
"You left your comrade to die...you deserve much worse…" the Doom Slayer growled, dropping Frank to his knees. Walking around to Frank's front, as Frank took one last look at his fate, the Doom Slayer used both knives to quickly chop off his head with one swift swing of his arms, taking the mask as a souvenir and revealing the horrified expression on Frank's face as he died. The hatch that Frank had been waiting for suddenly opened, giving the Doom Slayer an alternative solution to slaying a foe that had given up. He made his way back to Susie, who tried to cut herself up but was denied by the Entity. The Doom Slayer picked Susie up and tossed her over his shoulder, offering up no resistance as she accepted her horrific fate.
"Do not cower, I don't kill those who have surrendered themselves to their fate…should we meet again, you could be of use to me," the Doom Slayer assured Susie as he dropped her from his shoulder next to the hatch. Susie looked up at her savior one last time, feeling unworthy of such a gesture after having killed thousands of people to sacrifice to the Entity.
"I will make myself useful to you, should we meet again…" Susie sighed, crawling into the hatch and clamping it shut. The Doom Slayer let out a sigh as he turned to gaze at the blood red moon in the sky.
"It has been so long since I've come across human compassion and fear...I almost forgot what it meant to be merciful, however, I shall only use this moment to toughen up, because there is no mercy for the damned," the Doom Slayer said to the sky as darkness surrounded him, much like it had when he was abducted from hell.
"Yes! This is the sustenance I have been seeking!" The Entity let out a gleeful cackle as he absorbed the souls of the killers, a new feeling of rejuvenation coursing through his veins as he enjoyed the scrumptious offering.
"I expect great things from you Doom Slayer...I do hope your reputation precedes you," the Entity said with a laugh, anxious for more killer souls to feast upon.
