Days later Kallus was on a shuttle toward the Skystrike Academy with Governor Pryce. He had no choice but to eventually pass on what he'd learned regarding the potential defectors. If he hadn't, he could have been revealed to be a bit negligent in his duties. Thus, would put his ability to help the rebellion at risk. He only hoped that the rebels had used his warning to get those who wanted out extracted. Upon landing he played his part and even held his tongue when Price insulted him and acted as if she could possibly teach him anything. Much less about his own job. She was always just a bit too sure of herself and condescending; not just to him but everyone around her.

Kallus did his best to try to cover what tracks he could when his investigation inevitably led to three young men. However, when he informed Pryce that he'd yet to uncover anything during his investigation she decided to take over. At that point, all he could do was watch as a group of four pilots broke away from their squadrons during a training exercise. When one pilot responded to the calls to return to base, he knew that the Mandalorian of the Ghost crew had been the one who had been sent in to aid the pilots. He saw a rebel blockade runner drop out of hyperspace to extract them, but they weren't able to retrieve any of the pilots before they had to break away.

Kallus then watched on helplessly as Pryce ordered for one of the pilots to be shot down and killed. Once the remaining pilots were retrieved and taken in for questioning, the young woman made a snide remark about how the Empire had finally found someone who could do his job.

If she only knew.

After taking the two remaining pilots that Sabine Wren still needed to help escape to their cells, he set to work with helping their eventual flight from the academy. Pryce would underestimate Wren, so he knew that she'd be able to get away from her and get the other two pilots out. But they wouldn't get off of the base without a little help. He used his skills to infiltrate the security measures and worked to give the others a clear path to the hangers.

When he came across the trio after the Mandalorian broke the young men out of their cells he knew that she wouldn't trust him. Still, he hoped that she would at least listen once he mentioned that he owed Garazeb Orrelios. To her credit, she didn't take long to accept his help. Not that she had much of a choice since he'd already taken the added measure of blocking the Imperial Forces from reaching her and her small band of would-be-rebels. But that also meant that she had limited choice in the matter as to what direction to go.

Kallus got to a viewing port and watched as the slow and cumbersome ship that the trio had elected to evacuate in crept away from the base. He couldn't believe that out of all of the ships available the Mandalorian had chosen it. Still, perhaps she had a point after witnessing it take hit after hit. The ship wouldn't have been his first choice as a means of escape but it would appear that he had a lot to learn when it came to being a rebel. Thinking outside of the box. When the Rebel ship returned and got the escapees aboard, Kallus watched as they blasted back away into hyperspace.

He succeeded. He'd been responsible for that. He'd let the Rebels know about the pilots and he'd helped them get away. Today's small victory gave him more pride than any of his previous missions combined. Because today mattered.

After the escape Pryce went on one of her usual rampages and insisted that the personnel must need retraining if they hadn't been able to stop three individuals from escaping the detention cells and getting away back to the Rebellion. Kallus gritted his teeth as she verbally assaulted everyone in her attempt to assuage her frustrations at being bested by a few rebels. Had he really been so arrogant in her place? Unfortunately, he knew the answer to that; yes, he had been.

As the week went by, he began to get anxious as his appointment to get in touch with Valour's contact approached. He knew that she couldn't leave the Imperial Complex on her own and he wouldn't be able to reach out to them alone, either. He had yet to officially been given his acceptance into the ranks of the Fulcrum. He didn't have a code of his own. Kallus wondered what would happen if he missed the transmission. Fortunately, he didn't have to find out. Pryce wanted to return to Lothal which meant that he would be expected to return as well.

Kallus filed the reports that were expected of him upon his arrival back on Lothal. Paperwork that he'd done a million times before and never once did it seem to be as much of an inconvenience as it did today. Finally, Kallus's duties were completed. The next step was to locate Valour so that they could once more leave the Imperial Complex and reach out to her rebel contact.

When he finally found his friend, she appeared to be surprised that he'd finally returned to the base. She'd just finished up a workout at the gym of the lower ranked Imperials. Kallus knew that he should allow her the time to get cleaned up, but he was too impatient to get to the transmitter just on the outside of the city limits. Fortunately, Valour seemed to understand since she didn't insist on going to her quarters first. Kallus wondered if it was her force-sensitivity that helped her sense his need to be there when the contact reached out or if it was just because she knew him well enough from over the years. Either way, he was glad that he didn't have to waste time trying to get her to leave the complex quicker.

"You know, if we keep doing this, rumors are bound to fly," Kiara whispered as they approached the motor pool as she motioned toward her sweaty attire. "Especially since I look like this."

"Better to have rumors like this than anyone suspect what we are really doing," Alexsandr whispered back before he straightened his shoulders and then addressed the troopers who were stationed at the motor pool.

It was hard for him to tell if these were different troopers or the same who had been stationed there the night that the two had last left the complex together, but they seemed to pause and look back and forth between Agent Kallus and his companion before they nodded their understanding that there was to be no record of their departure for the evening. As the two sped away in the speeder Kiara glanced back at the troopers before returning her gaze to the landscape as she began to laugh.

"I bet that they will be placing bets on how long it takes for us to return to base. You do realize that they were the same two from the last time, right?"

"How can you tell that with their helmets on?"

"Simple. I just know." Kiara shrugged.

"Right. The whole thing with the force." Alexsandr shook his head. "So how much can you do with it? I've seen the Jedi and the boy do some pretty incredible things."

Kiara furled her brows. "Nothing like that. The only training I've had is what I've scraped together from reading old texts about the various force users in the galaxy from over the centuries. The Jedi aren't the only force users to have ever existed, you know. I just get a sense for people, can read them, mainly. I do have the habit of breaking things when I'm upset, though."

"Why?"

Kiara shook her head as she replied, "The Jedi refused to train me because they claimed that my abilities are a bit too unstable. I guess they were right. If I'm not careful when I get an adrenaline rush, then it seems to just... I don't know how to explain. Anyway, I eventually figured that it would be better to try to stifle as much of my abilities as possible. Especially while living under the eye of the Empire."

Kallus thought about how hard it would be to actually build up such a forbidden skill while working for the Empire. Yes, trying to stifle her abilities was the best course of action. Still, he almost felt disappointed since having someone of the Jedi's skillset and ability nearby could be handy.

When the two got to the old Bridger hideout they headed up and waited for their transmission to come through. Kallus continued to ask more questions about what Valour was capable of and if she'd considered trying to find a way to get more formal training.

"Training from where? The few Jedi who are still around were likely all padawans themselves when the Clone Wars ended; meaning that their own training was incomplete. And with the fact that I was deemed too dangerous to train-"

"If you were considered dangerous, why didn't the Jedi consider you too dangerous to leave untrained?" Kallus asked. "After all, if your abilities are so unstable, isn't that all the more reason to train? To lessen the danger?"

Valour shook her head. "From what I can tell, when a person is left untrained, for the most part, their abilities usually fade away."

"But yours didn't?"

Kiara took a deep breath before responding, "You can blame that on my spiteful nature. My mother never once let me live down the fact that I wasn't taken to the Jedi Temple for training while a family member was. That sort of caused me to look into the various texts that I mentioned. By the end of the Clone Wars, I had developed a strong desire to research as many other types of force users as I could. I had even gotten my father to convince a friend to allow me to tag along on an archaeological dig of an ancient temple that predated the Jedi. That is where I was, in fact, when the war ended."

Kallus waited for Valour to continue but it seemed that she'd decided that she'd said too much. She fell strangely silent. He was about to prod her further when the transmission that he'd been waiting for came through.

"It would appear that the information that you gave was accurate. For that, we thank you."

"I'm glad that it was found useful and that at least most of the pilots were able to get away. They will be invaluable to the Rebellion," Kallus replied with a renewed sense of pride from the knowledge that he'd played a part in the mission that extracted the pilots from Skystrike.

"Since your information panned out, and you have been vouched for, we welcome you to the ranks of Fulcrum. Your code phrase when you need to contact us will be, 'By the light of Lothal's moons'. That is how you will be distinguished from the rest of the Fulcrum. The squadron that you will be assigned to will be Phoenix Squadron."

Kallus couldn't suppress the smile that spread across his face as he knew that the very rebel cell that he'd been so consumed with to take down over the last year or so was now a part of the same one that he'd be assisting with his information that he could give. That gave him names and faces of those whom he'd be working with. He may not know all of the squadron, but he knew the crew of the Ghost. He felt that he owed them; especially Garazeb. If it hadn't been for his willingness to set aside the fact that they were enemies to actually help him while on the ice moon, he would have died. If not from the bitter cold, then due to the creatures that would have eaten him. He owed his life to the Lasat in more ways than one. Now, he had a new purpose in life and that was to help the crew of the Ghost.
