They returned to the lands of Mother Miranda with a week to spare. Their journey had taken them to the back-end of the Beneviento estate, their own home hidden beyond the thick forests that covered most of the area.

Almost mere moments after they crossed the border, they were greeted by what could only be described as an explosion of feathers.

"Alcina Dimitrescu!" Mother Miranda, in full priestess-regalia appeared in front of the group of her surviving eldest and said eldest's children. "Where have you been!?"

"Mother Miranda." The white-clad female stood tall, even as her two nymphs shrunk down from her form into the forms they settled in for daily life. "I had a small journey to make."

"Obviously." The black-clad woman snarled as her grandchildren were waved ahead by their mother. "I am more interested into why you could not tell me." One of the first triplets took her mother's backpack, cradling the brown thing in her arms as she disappeared between the trees.

"You would have stopped me." The Mistress of the Castle murmured. "And I could risk letting you delay me... There were enough already."

"Better to ask forgiveness than permission?" Her mother muttered, eyes narrowed. "What on Earth was so important that you could not warn me of your leaving? Anything would have been better than suddenly hear one of your maids tell me you left the Village all of a sudden! A mere year after you were taken from it!"

The giant woman's recovery of her ordeal was most obvious in the fact that most references only briefly made her fingers twitch. "It was for last year I left." She crossed her arms, jaw tightening in a display of thankfully increasingly less frequent vulnerability. "There were two dozen Nymphs still out there that Frederika knew off. I..." She sighed, running one hand over the braid around her head. "I could not leave them out there, for anyone to find."

"So you went running straight at one of the few things that incapacitate you!?" That hardly made matters better for the other. "Alcina! What would you have done had someone decided to use them on the giant rampaging woman!? You were gone for weeks, I do not want to consider how far away you managed to get during that time."

"Which is why I took my daughters with me."

"You could have told me and I would have joined you." Black wings twitched. "The last word about this has not been spoken yet, daughter, but I will let you return and recover first. Did you at least succeed or am I going to find you gone again sometime soon?"

"I did, so I do not intend to leave again." Alcina's face briefly showed her true age in her exhaustion.

"Good, I am not made for all this worry. Because you left without warning, I had to send Donna and Karl to America instead of being able to go myself." Miranda shook her head, face twisting briefly.

"Wait, what? America?" The other blinked in surprised confusion, wondering where that had come from.

"You'd know all about that had you been here!"
