Fridays were usually the most hectic days at the Rescue bot's base in China. The busy afternoon traffic could almost guarantee a car accident or two.
It wasn't their obligation to assist in those car accidents; Blades, HighTide and Quickshadow were sent to China to supervise the new tech that was being developed. Rescuing wasn't obligatory, but it was second nature to them. They refused to wait around and do nothing.
So on top of overlooking the production of the Scrubber Initiative, Blades, HighTide and Quickshadow also ran patrols throughout the day and helped whenever they could.
It had been a long day, and the agent had just gotten back from her patrolling shift. It was getting late.
Blades and HighTide had already turned themselves in for the night and were in their respective sleeping quarters.
Quickshadow sat on the red couch Doc had maximized for them, polisher in servo. She began to buff out all the scratches and dents she had acquired from the rescue she had made throughout the day.
Quickshadow didn't feel like turning herself in just yet despite being utterly worn out. She decided to train for a while to wear herself out.
Just as she was about to go down to the training room, the central computer turned on with a call from the Mainland.
Surprised, she walked over to answer.
"Heatwave?" She glanced at the screen as the red mech appeared.
"Yep. Just checking in; how is everyone?" He had a stack of papers in front of him and looked utterly exhausted.
"Blades, HighTide, and Dani are fine, recharging at the moment." She shifted her weight to her right hip.
Heatwave only nodded.
"What about you?"
"I'm alright," she replied, making any sign of fatigue vanish from her faceplates.
"Good to hear." He nodded and faintly smiled.
"Busy over there, isn't it?" She tilted her helm to the side, referring to the stack of papers in his servo.
"Unfortunately." He nodded and vented deeply. "And Kade isn't much help either." He rolled his optics as he pointed to the sleeping human behind him.
Quickshadow stifled a chuckle and shook her helm.
Kade had an empty pizza box on the floor; his hand was submerged in a bag of potato chips. Crumbs of food were scattered all over the couch.
"Enjoy the peace while you can." She shot him a half-hearted smile.
"Won't be long 'till he starts snoring again" Heatwave let out a small yawn.
She then crossed her arms over her chassis and analyzed the mech.
"Do you require any assistance?"
Heatwave's optic ridges furrowed at her question. "Huh?"
"Do you need help?" She repeated.
Heatwave considered her offer. In truth, he hadn't slept in days, and the idea was very tempting, but it was his responsibility; what kind of leader would he be if he let his teammate do his work for him? "No, I'm good."
The agent frowned at his stubbornness. "You're clearly tired." She tilted her helm. "Let me help you."
"I can manage, Quickshadow." He tried to sound convincing but couldn't contain another yawn.
'Primus, how stubborn can one bot be?' She vented inwardly.
"Send me the files, Heatwave." Her tone was firm and didn't leave any room for discussion.
"Quickshadow, you don't ha-" She cut him off.
"I insist. Get some rest." She ended the call before he could respond.
A few minutes passed before her data pad vibrated with a new notification.
He sent her all the paperwork he had been working on, along with a single text.
'Thanks.'
Quickshadow smiled and made her way back to her chambers.
It was going to be a long night.
