Author's Note: I'm going with "Great Ape" for the transformation, despite using Oozaru on my blog, because it was a term coined in early Dragon Ball and never given a proper Saiyan name. "Oozaru" literally means "Giant Monkey", so using the English term here is appropriate.

Age 506, Planet Sadala, Universe 7

Peparia was excited. This would be her first time when she would be allowed outside during a full moon. She had been trained under a lower tier cousin on how to maintain control in the Great Ape form for the past year, and he deemed her ready to follow instructions.

A Saiyan's first full moon was a special occasion. To be allowed to go outside, under the supervision of the Full Moon Patrol, was an important moment for a young Saiyan. It was the first step toward adulthood, despite maturity being a far way off.

Peparia knew what was supposed to happen tonight; she'd go out to the Parlee Fields in a special outfit that would grow with her as she transformed, an outfit that was similar to the battle armor the adults wore when doing any form of combat. From there, she'd look up at the moon and absorb the Blutz waves that entered her eyes, and once transformed, if her training was enough, she'd be able to follow the instructions of the Full Moon Patrol.

Peparia knew that if she was good at following instructions while a Great Ape, she'd get to play in that form; be allowed to run around and wrestle with other children and just have fun in the form. However, if she couldn't do what she was told at the start, if she didn't follow commands, she'd be taken down by the Full Moon Patrol, and taken down hard. She might even lose her tail, something considered shameful among the Saiyans.

But Peparia knew she was ready. She paid attention to what she was told, did the meditations to calm her mind, did the physical exercises that were meant to prepare her body. She would not fail her family, her parents, or her ancestor.

She looked around in the Parlee Fields at the other children; some were scared, some were calm, some were excited, but none were as near well prepared as Peparia. Her mother Cassa made certain that the heir of House Dakkon would not fail on her first full moon. She taught Peparia of the sensations she'd be feeling, of the loss of mental facility as she transformed. That was the Beast within all Saiyans, her mother said, and they all needed to dominate it, to beat it into submission.

So when the sun creeped down below the horizon and the sky fell to full darkness, the Full Moon Patrol readied themselves to handle in case the worst came to pass; these men and women were warriors who had special training on how to deal with a rampaging Great Ape, and all present were far stronger than even the strongest child in their transformed state.

Peparia readied herself, and when the members of the Full Moon Patrol gave their instructions for the children to look up, she did so without fear. And as she felt the Blutz Waves enter her body, and her body began to transform, she finally felt that Beast whose only urge was to destroy. But Peparia needed to remain in control, no matter how hard it got. She needed to dominate this Beast's need to destroy and prove that she was ready to grow up.

It wasn't easy. As her body finished transforming, her thoughts were simple. Stand. Move. Scratch. Listen. Obey. The last one was the most important; she HAD to obey. She could not lose control. She had to obey the adults who gave her commands. And despite the howling of the Beast nearly overwhelming her, she did as she was told when she was told to sit.

The next command was to stand, and once again, Peparia obeyed. And when told to hold for inspection, she stood still, breathing softly as the Full Moon Patrol went down the line of children to ensure that everybody was following commands.

The next command was to turn around, and Peparia obeyed. She was told to run to the line, and she began her lumbering gait toward that line. And when the Full Moon Patrol was certain they had control of the situation, they gave their final command for the night; play. The Saiyan children were being allowed to enjoy themselves, to have fun, for the rest of the night.

The next few hours were a blur in Peparia's memory. She knew she'd succeeded at her first full moon, and that she had fun. But what she remembered most was the girl who stepped on her tail; Lottus. Lottus stepped on Peparia's tail while they'd been wrestling, and she did it hard. The pain was so great that Peparia nearly lost control of herself, though she thankfully didn't. Peparia would remember that, even if Lottus didn't.

But Peparia wouldn't let that one bad moment ruin her first full moon. It was a good experience, one she'd remember for a long time. And she wouldn't let one bad moment ruin it.
