Peparia looked at the next scroll that Trunks wanted her to enter and was shocked by what she saw. She saw Kakarot flying into a rocky area that had been a battlefield, covered in a red aura. Kakarot saw a bunch of dead bodies of what Peparia assumed were his friends, stopping as he saw two Great Apes. The Great Ape who was wearing a commoner's battle armor, the kind with the hip, crotch and shoulder guards, mocked Kakarot, saying how he's "just been revived" before he and his partner bared down on Kakarot.
Trunks quickly explained how events were supposed to go; yes, most of Kakarot's friends were supposed to die, but in a very specific order; first the one with the long hair, then the one that looked like a doll, then the triclops. The bald one, Krillin, Kakarot's son Gohan, and the Namekian Piccolo were supposed to survive the Saibamen to battle the bald Saiyan Nappa, who would then kill Piccolo in his attempt to kill Gohan. This would cause Gohan to use his rage boosted power and blast Nappa, only to fall out of it and get badly hurt by Nappa. Then, Kakarot would swoop in and save his son, cripple Nappa, who was then killed by Vegeta.
At that point, Vegeta and Kakarot would have it out, Kakarot having to use his Kaio-ken technique, an ability that allowed him to boost his power temporarily at whatever multiplier he called out. The downside of this technique is that it wore heavily on the body and drained his stamina greatly. However, Vegeta, who could not sense ki and thought that boost was a permanent one, used the Power Ball technique to become a Great Ape.
At this point, an exhausted Kakarot, his son and Krillin had to take down the Great Ape and stop Vegeta. However, they allowed him to escape from the planet.
Peparia took the scroll and closed her eyes and concentrated on it. She once again felt herself teleport into another era, where she saw the combatants tackling a bunch of Saibamen. All there were considerably weaker than Peparia, so she'd once again need to hold back.
She started to dance around the Saibamen, striking weak points and destroying them outright. The Earthlings were confused as to why a Saiyan would fight on their side, but they didn't have the luxury of denying her help. However, due to being unable to sense ki and being forced to use scouters to scan for battle power, Nappa and Vegeta had no idea how powerful Peparia really was.
Eventually, Peparia broke off from the battle, leading a number of the Saibamen away from them. This left the Earthlings with the number of Saibamen they were supposed to be fighting, though the long haired one, Yamcha, had been killed by a self-destruct attack, which is what forced the Earthlings to take this death match seriously. She heard Krillin take down the rest of their local Saibamen, forcing Nappa into the fray. From there, he killed Chaozu and Tenshinhan, letting Peparia know it was time to take out the rest of the Saibamen and rejoin the main battle. She unleased a powerful wave of ki from her body, wiping out all the Saibamen, and then headed back to the main field.
It was here that Peparia saw the damage the Earthlings had done. Despite being considerably stronger due to that evil purple aura that powered up her foes, the Earthling Chaozu's self-destruct combined with the strongest attack from Tenshinhan had destroyed his chest armor, leaving him only with his gauntlets and boots. She joined in with Piccolo and Krillin against Nappa, while Gohan cowered behind some rocks.
Peparia sympathized with Gohan; neither of her children had been fighting that young, much less in a death battle like this. And her heart went out to the boy when Nappa tried to kill him with a powerful ki blast, only for Piccolo enter and take the fatal blast for him. She didn't like the fact that she wasn't allowed to stop these events from happening, but she was proud of Gohan for his use of his beam attack, the Masenko, an attack that was almost as powerful as her charged up Gallick Gun, but with a quicker charge time. It badly damaged Nappa, who then attacked Gohan without mercy, critically injuring the boy.
Peparia entered the fray to defend the boy, because this was still earlier than when Kakarot was supposed to show up. She had to hold off Nappa until Kakarot saved the day. And when Kakarot showed up, he gave a healing item, a Senzu bean, to both Gohan and Krillin to heal them. Kakarot then squared off against Vegeta, leaving Nappa to Peparia.
Peparia continued to toy with Nappa as Kakarot battled Vegeta, who was also powered up by the evil energy. However, Kakarot's Kaio-ken was strong enough to keep up even with this boosted Vegeta, doing damage to the "Prince of all Saiyans" over time.
And it was when Peparia sensed a surge in Vegeta's ki that she knew what was going on; he and Kakarot were going to perform their beam struggle, which was the last thing to happen before Vegeta became a Great Ape. This was Peparia's cue to end the battle with Nappa. She grabbed his tail and slammed him on the ground, and then with one quick stomp, broke his back. With him disabled, Peparia took to the air and started charging a ball of ki on her palm. She then fired it off, shouting "Big Bang Attack!", and watched as the impact of the ki exploded on the ground, wiping out all trace of the fallen Nappa.
And it was just in time for Vegeta to return to the field and land, summoning up the Power Ball technique and then launched it into the air. Peparia merely scoffed at this; out of everyone there, she was the one who actually had experience with a Great Ape. However, she had to stand back and let the Great Ape focus on Kakarot so he could crush him.
Peparia floated around the Great Ape, staying just outside his reach when Kakarot shouted "Hey, could I get some help here? I need some time to charge an attack."
Peparia nodded, knowing that this was Kakarot's Genki Dama, a powerful attack that utilized the gathered ki from all life on the planet. Unfortunately, Kakarot could not be allowed to fire it off; he had to be hurt by Vegeta, and hurt badly. He had to have his bones crushed beyond use for history to stay on course.
So Peparia continued to bob and weave, dodging Vegeta's attacks, and at the last possible moment before Kakarot could throw his attack, she dodged, allowing Vegeta to punch Kakarot. He then focused on Kakarot, picking him up from the rubble, and began crushing him. This forced Krillin and Gohan back into the fray, as was in the proper timeline.
"Cut his tail off!" Peparia shouted. "If he loses his tail, he loses the form!"
Krillin nodded, charging up his Kienzan attack, one that was similar to the attack Peparia had used to sever Rutin's tail so many decades ago.
Peparia directed Gohan on how to maneuver around a Great Ape, how to stay out of his attack range while still getting some hits in. And the boy, for what he could muster, did as he was told, bowing to Peparia's greater experience. And when Peparia noticed that Krillin's attack was ready, she fired three ki blasts into Vegeta's eye.
"Now!" Peparia shouted, and watched as Krillin fired off his attack. It sailed through the air, and severed Vegeta's tail, causing him to revert back to his base form.
This enraged Vegeta; to be shamed like that, to lose his tail in battle? He was ready to end everyone in the vicinity, and the purple aura gave him the power he'd need to do it. But Peparia knew what was to happen next.
"Gohan, look at the Power Ball!" she shouted as she rushed Vegeta. Gohan was confused, but did as he was told, and began transforming into a Great Ape. This caused Vegeta to panic, but he couldn't break off from Peparia to destroy the Power Ball. And by the time Peparia intentionally left an opening, it was too late; Gohan had finished transforming.
Peparia grabbed Krillin and kept him away from the fight; this was the time for the boy to wear down the Prince of Saiyans down before Peparia could end the fight. This too had to happen; Gohan also had to lose his tail in the conflict, apparently for the final timeā¦before Vegeta could be defeated.
Something was strange, though. Gohan's hybrid nature granted him control over his Beast in ways that children twice his age with years of training under their belts could barely manage. He attacked Vegeta, and nobody else. She later found out that he was being telepathically guided by Kakarot to direct himself at Vegeta, who, through some quick thinking, used his own version of the Kienzan to cut off Gohan's tail.
However, Vegeta was not fast enough to get out from under Gohan, who fell on him and crushed him as he transformed back into his base form. This gave Peparia the chance she needed to destroy the Power Ball, as was necessary in the proper history.
Vegeta began crawling away as Krillin went to bring Kakarot to his son, and Peparia just allowed it, as this was a part of history. If Vegeta had been her opponent and was threatening her world and her friends, she'd have killed him without a second thought, but Kakarot was merciful in ways she didn't understand. All she knew was that Vegeta had a role to play in the future, due to the existence of that Trunks boy.
However, Krillin limped his way over to Vegeta as he crawled into his summoned pod, intending to kill him, forcing Peparia to step in. "I can't let you do this," she said sadly. Vegeta had deserved this as much as Nappa, but she had to preserve the timeline.
"But why?" Krillin asked. "Why are you stopping me?"
But Kakarot spoke up. "It's okay, Krillin. Next time, I'll beat him on my own."
And that is when Peparia understood Kakarot's choice; he wanted to fight Vegeta again someday.
"Thank you," Kakarot said to Peparia, who watched Vegeta's pod blast off into space.
"Go help your friends," Peparia said, gesturing back at Kakarot and Gohan. Krillin looked away, and Peparia quickly took the scroll from her belt and returned to the time next, allowing Trunks to put the scroll back where it belonged.
"I wonder why this is happening," Trunks said as they left the Time Vault. "It should be impossible. You can't change history like this."
"It seems like somebody did like you did and traveled through time," a female voice said, and Peparia finally saw the Kaioshin of time; she was a small, pink skinned woman with pink hair. She started dancing and gesturing happily as Trunks frantically tried to justify that, despite her current behavior, she was very important.
Peparia, however, only smiled. The Kaioshin of Time was a god; why couldn't she have a little fun? Peparia laughed, however, when the bird landed on the Kaioshin's head, causing her to start arguing with the bird.
As soon as things calmed down, Trunks brought the Kaioshin's attention to the task at hand.
"You must be the warrior Shenron summoned. I'm the Kaioshin of Time! Nice to meet ya!" she said.
"I am Peparia," Peparia said, bowing to the god. "The pleasure is mine."
"Polite," the Kaioshin said. "Wasn't expecting that from a Saiyan. Anyway, that bird you saw just now, that's Tokitoki, my best friend and creator of time itself. It's my job to catalogue and protect the timestreams of the different universes."
"Which is why you need the Time Patrol," Peparia said. "Or rather, you need the Time Patrol to do things that you aren't allowed to do yourself."
"Right," the Kaioshin said, and looked over Peparia. "This is good. You seem quite talented. I think you and Trunks will make a good team."
"Speaking of Trunks, he's agreed to some conditions for my employment, pending your approval," Peparia said.
"Of course," the Kaioshin said. "What do you need?"
"A place to live and a gravity chamber for training, of course," Peparia said frankly. "But I also want to know what happened to the Saiyans. Trunks said we've been wiped out, but I want to know what happened between when my world was destroyed and when his father and Kakarot were born."
"Of course," the Kaioshin said. "You're from planet Vegeta, right?"
"Sadala," Peparia said, in a manner of fact. They named their new home after her son?
"Oh!" the Kaioshin said. "Well, we have a lot more to go over than I thought. Come with me, I'll get the scrolls you need."
