Fields of Green

Chapter 1

Various shades of gray highlighted with splashes of pale yellow greeted Noah as he entered the room that Irina had insisted Grandpa take. They were all family now. Plush white pillows decorated the bed and settee. Noah noted that the buttons on the white pillows were the same green as a certain seer's hair. Irina seemed to be pushing her agenda at least in this, he could agree. "Do they not make these… Longer?" Noah hid a smirk behind his hand. He brought his crystal green eyes from his grandfather's shoes up to his bare legs and where the chulin barely covered his thighs. The dove gray color was spared from being dull by the red belt holding it closed.

"You look great," Noah blew a strand of cotton candy-colored hair from his forehead. He made sure that his legs were closed as he sat on his grandpa's bed. He was glad that his bracelet hid the abrasion on his wrists left over from the other night. Jovi had lost his mind tying him to the bed to avoid a job offer. Not wanting to get angry all over again after they had settled the matter Noah focused again on his grandfather. He ran the brush through his thick locks again. He did not often allow it to grow long but sometimes when he was busy as Senator Ashfield, he had no time to visit his barber. Then the dark locks would show a bit of curl. "Just remember," Noah intoned seeing his grandfather place his brush down. "Do not touch his hair in public. It would be more acceptable to touch his ass."

"It's a nice ass," Elijah mumbled. His face flushed realizing what he had said aloud. Elijah took a deep breath. "It's just a first date. I have to remember that."

"We are not on earth anymore," Noah chuckled. "Go on, Jovi has a car ready for you. He said that until you get used to the area and learn to drive their cars, then he would have a driver for you. Seer Lolen cannot drive. He never learned. His seeings come too frequently and have such an effect that it was deemed by his parents not to be in his best interest and he agreed."

Elijah huffed, then shook his head. "Do you have a dossier on him?" He turned away from the mirror to face Noah.

"Well," Noah could feel his face heating. "If you are going to be dating him."

"It's a date…" Elijah smiled. "Not like I am giving him a ring."

"Or a bracelet," Noah took his grandfather's hand leading him from the room. "Now you have fun tonight and remember to hold his chair out. Don't touch his hair and be home at a reasonable hour." Elijah was still laughing as he entered the waiting car. Even being from another planet he could tell that this machine was top of the line. The sleek gunmetal color shone in the early evening moonlight. A man in a stark black chulin held the door open. He inclined his head when Elijah approached. He took in the manicured lawns as they drove to the large complex that Seer Lolen lived in. He wasn't sure if it was the same here, but he walked to the door holding the bouquet.

When he had asked Irina for the blooms, she had looked bemused at his reason for wanting to present them to Lolen. Elijah caught his breath as the door opened on his second ring of the chime. Lolen stood there with a bright smile on his pretty face. The soft yellow of his chulin seemed to highlight his hair which was gathered on one side showing off the studs and piercings, not only in his hair but his ears as well. "Wow," Elijah breathed the word. He could feel the heat in his cheeks. "I mean, hi."

"Hello," Lolen spoke, his voice as soft and lyrical as Elijah remembered. "As you requested, I made a place for us at one of my favorite establishments." Lolen startled at the bright pink and red blooms that Elijah offered. "Those… Are nice," Lolen crinkled his brow wondering what he was supposed to do with the plants tied in pretty green ribbons.

"It is an earth custom," Elijah explained. He cleared his throat. "When one picks up the person they are going on a date with, they often bring flowers and chocolate. I do not know much about candy here, but Irina was able to get me the flowers."

"What a lovely custom," Lolen took the blooms glad that Irina had chosen some of the softer scented flowers. He was clasping them in his hands when Elijah placed a hand on Lolen's arm guiding him to the car. "Thank you," Lolen smiled sitting across from Elijah. "What is chocolate?"

"It is sweet, candy," Elijah explained. "The next time I go home I will be sure to bring you some. It is from a plant actually." The driver focused on the road driving to one of the most expensive establishments in Corril. Elijah stole glances at Lolen as they were driven through the town. Rolling hills dotted with lush colors and vines presented a backdrop for his ogling of his date. Full lips turned up as he noted Elijah staring. "Sorry," He could feel his cheeks heating. Looking away he was shocked to see the driver pulling into a spot.

Elaborate. That was the only word that Elijah could think of as he took in the soft white tones of the building. Red awnings had scrolled words that Elijah could only guess spelled out the name. "It is translated into your tongue as The Garden." Lolen spoke correctly guessing what Elijah was looking at. "There are paths leading from the dining hall for one to walk either before or after a meal."

"Which do you prefer?" Elijah walked beside Lolen noting that he was several inches taller than the Seer. Most Jenerans were larger. He tried not to think of the behemoth that had attacked his grandson three nights ago.

"I find a walk pleasant after a meal." Lolen pushed his hair to the side so that when he faced Elijah, he could see him clearly. Elijah glanced at the braids, studs, and loops in Lolen's hair. He flushed thinking of what Noah had said. Lolen caught him looking at his hair not for the first time. "Yes," Lolen answered the unspoken question.

"Pardon," Elijah nearly stumbled. He moved his hand from Lolen's arm to the small of his back entering the door held open by a waiter bowing at the waist holding his chulin flat as he bowed.

"You wanted to know about a Jeneran's hair," Lolen giggled. "I see Noah has briefed you on some of the taboos of our culture."

Elijah stared after Lolen as he walked over to a table tucked into a corner on a balcony. Two full moons shown down on the smooth blue tablecloth. Golden plates and elaborate silverware waited next to a chilled bucket of what Elijah figured was a bottle of wine. Sitting in the chairs with the soft back across from Lolen, Elijah felt as if the candlelight drugged his senses. Those deep red eyes smiled over at him. Lolen sat his flowers on the table as the waiter approached the table. Elijah noted that they were not offered menus. "What would you suggest we eat?" Elijah asked not sure of the local cuisine. He had been assured that the sliver or marble that he had been given would link to his own personal fund account. Earned, they said when he assisted in the search for the Corril Liaison. While Elijah was not prone to accepting charity, he would accept the gift as a reward. He would have to find a means of supporting himself if he was to stay here.

"I usually just eat whatever Liran serves." Lolen smiled as the waiter simply poured their wine into crystalline goblets. "He is my brother and he owns this place," Lolen explained. He sipped from his wine licking the deep stain on his lips.

"So, you don't choose or train to be seers," Elijah mused gazing at Lolen feeling his stomach quiver. He really was too old for this. How could he be feeling like an untried youth on his first date just because a baby faced alien batted his pretty eyes at him? Elijah looked away at his uncharitable thoughts. "I mean, Is Seer all you are allowed to do or, could you join your brother here in the restaurant?"

"The calling of a Seer is intrinsic. There is nothing else that I am actually suited for." Lolen giggled again this time Elijah did not hide the effect the sound had on him. "I am a hopeless disaster in the kitchen. If I entered, I am sure that Liran would have his guards ban me from the establishment entirely and forevermore."

"It's true," Elijah gasped looking up as an older version of Lolen stood at their table with the waiter. He was broad of shoulder with his thick locks of ropey green hair secured under a white scarf that matched his Chulin. The flowing script of the restaurant's name was on the scarf and the right side breast pocket of the garment. "When Gigel told me who was here, and with a guest no less, I had to come and introduce myself." Elijah stood to his feet reaching out a hand to shake.

"It is a human custom," Lolen was quick to explain taking his elder brother's hand he moved it until Liran clasped Elijah's hand in a firm shake.

Liran grinned flashing a bright set of teeth as Elijah resumed his seat. "One day I will have to regale you with the time this culinary catastrophe nearly set his hair on fire and destroyed the kitchen. Mother was pleased though as she had been after father to redo it for some time."

Elijah, realizing that his mouth had fallen open into a startled 'o' closed it with a small smile. Recovering enough to offer his standard Senator smile he inclined his head to Liran. "It is a pleasure to meet you." Elijah saw the waiter arriving pushing a cart with covered dishes.

"Please enjoy," Liran inclined his head. "After you dine, I insist that you partake of the gardens." Lolen hid a smile behind his hand as the waiter revealed their plates with a flourish. He bowed leaving them alone. Elijah stared down at the feast laid before them wondering what it all was. Elijah took a moment to be glad that he had not experienced any allergies on earth and none since he had been here eating the alien fare.

What was on his plate could have been chalk and fish paste for all that he was paying attention to. Lolen began to tell of his childhood, growing up in Nor, a small suburb of Corril with Liran and their oldest sister Janil. "My first episode of seeing was actually about Liran. It was very uncomfortable explaining to him that he and the neighbors' daughter would be intimate in a kitchen. Being all of 13 and quite innocent myself." Lolen laughed then. "I learned early on the ins and outs of physical pleasure. It was then that Liran decided to spend as much time as possible in the kitchen. The Seeing paid off greatly as my sister in law now tends to the gardens of this place and they are expecting their Shileena to release my niece in a couple of weeks."

Elijah could not recall a more pleasant time spent than the hours they lingered over their meal and wine. As they walked the garden, he held on Lolen's hand. The moon's were beginning to wan as they made their way to the car having talked of Elijah's childhood and upbringing. Lolen had patted his arm sympathetically as Elijah had spoken of the rampant ignorance and homophobia on his homeland. "So I left Darryl in order to adopt Noah's mom. He never held it against me and went on with his life. Since then there have been a few discreet encounters, but nothing serious." Elijah held the door open gasping as his hand brushed one of the velvety soft locks when Lolen entered the back seat. Elijah had not imagined the shiver. Lolen bit his lower lip hoping to stifle the moan that nearly escaped. "Sorry," Elijah said after sitting beside him in the car.

"It's alright," Lolen scooted over in the seat. "It was not on purpose," Lolen interlocked their fingers on the seat.

"No, but this is," Elijah tugged Lolen closer glad that he was not driving as he could devour the full, pliant lips. Lolen sank into the embrace opening his mouth he sucked on the invading tongue driving Elijah mad for more. He pulled back for oxygen diving in again. Lolen's legs found their way across Elijah's lap as they devoured each other. The driver did his best to focus on the road ahead and not the two-person orgy starting in the back of his vehicle. Elijah placed both hands on Lolen's head to keep him steady as he sucked his lower lip then traced the succulent morsels with his tongue. He could feel the velvet locks swell as he stroked them. Lolen moaned his eyes closed in bliss. "You are so unbelievably adorable." Elijah purred licking a burning path from his ear to his neck. Did Jenerans bruise? Elijah wondered if he was perhaps leaving marks, yet somehow, he could not seem to stop kissing, licking, tasting, touching this dynamic man.

The driver kept his eyes glued to the road. His neck grew tight as his underwear began to tent inside his chulin. He heard the moans from the back of the car. He hoped there was no traffic and he could get these two back to Lolen's apartment before they consummated their relationship in the back of his car.
