(((Ozpin's P.O.V after arriving at Beacon)))
As myself, along with the two rather interesting boys I found headed back to my office in Beacon, I made sure to send a quick text to Glynda on my Scroll. It mainly said that I wouldn't be available for the time being, and would need absolute privacy. I made sure it was more of an order, not a suggestion.
I then turned to the boys and decided while we walk, I might as well get to know them a bit more as I WOULD be their Headmaster (hopefully, a negative part of me countered).
I then gave a small cough and decided to initiate. "So you two," I made a small pause, "How exactly did the both of you wander so far deep in the Emerald Forest without so much as tripping any harsh security traps, all without Aura as well? I must also say I'm quite surprised that so many Grimm gathered there so fast."
It was the boy with a very interesting set of eyes, one of them being Crimson, the other being Emerald green, that answered me. "We are not exactly sure ourselves sir, one moment, we were just minding our own business, and then the next, we were suddenly sucked into some kind of vortex."
I could only nod at the young man's answer. I had a feeling it wasn't the full truth, but as they have no real reason to trust me yet, I could understand why he at least told me a half-truth. "And your name young man, is?" I asked the one who spoke.
"My name is Mark. Out of the two of us, I'm the more fun-making guy, and I love to be flashy. A lot of people can become a bit caught off-guard with my 'colorful' ideas, except for this guy here." He then points to the young man next to him.
The other young man, who had another interesting pair of eyes, Golden-Yellow at that, nervously looked up at me and said, "Oh! My name's Cayden, sir. Before you ask, it's pronounced 'Kai-denn'. Please remember that. I get enough confused looks as is…" He blushed in embarrassment. I could only give a small smile. I could tell that despite being a small bit shy, he seemed like a good young man along with Mark. 'Those names are quite unusual in these times, their parents might be old fashioned. That, or whoever named them didn't know about the color rule, I did hear that the Manakete Faunus can live for centuries after all, while retaining their youth.' I thought to myself.
I then decided to re-introduce myself as well. "Well then, in exchange for your names, it's only right that I do the same. I am Professor Ozpin, Headmaster of Beacon Academy. Some like to call me the Guiding 'Wizard' of all Huntsmen." I finished with a wink, as I can tell that these two already know about Magic, due to them being Manakete Faunus, which allows them to use Magic easily if they so choose, with the help of a certain something, of course.
Mark bows and says "It's nice to meet you." It seemed like this one was very respectful, at least to someone like me.
Cayden also gave a small bow and I noticed he was getting a bit more comfortable around me as he gave a big grin. "Good to meet ya sir!" He then gave a 'peace' sign like the young ones tend to do. I could only shake my head a bit and chuckle.
I then saw that the Beacon Academy Building was only a few more minutes away from where we were in the Beacon Grounds. I then ushered the two into the entrance and then took them to a nearby elevator. As we rose and exited out towards my office, I decided to ask one thing before we got started. "Call me curious you two, but I wanted to know...what is your dream for the future?" I then pulled out two unique books out from my desk that I had held onto for nearly all my lives. I then showed the two these unique books (or Tomes as we called them back then) and then said, "Because I noticed that these two gave off a unique aura just before I found you. So I must ask again, what dreams do you have that could leave such a beautiful glow among these two magical tomes?"
Cayden's POV
I looked around in awe and then Ozpin's words suddenly made me snap back into reality. I noticed Mark give me an eye roll as he knew I tended to space out at times. I then gave him a small look. And he stuck his tongue out at me. I could only roll my eyes back and I wanted to ask him aloud how we should answer, instead though…
'Hey Mark? How should I respond, dude? I'm sweating...bullets? Wait...what the HELL?!' I suddenly shouted in mental surprise.
When Mark responded, he didn't sound surprised at all, and I could feel the deadpan. (That son of a dragon!) 'Are you really so surprised at this dude? Grima told us about this earlier! But you just HAD to fall asleep on us while he was explaining it in the bullhead!'
I could understand his point, especially since I DO fall asleep at times when I feel relaxed, but I still didn't like it when he was so smug about it. I then gave him a subtle middle finger, something that Mark pointedly ignored, then replied to Ozpin. "I'd say our dream is rather simple yet unique sir. We only want to protect the powerless whilst also bringing any and all evil to justice. More than that, we want to bring change." I spoke passionately and from the heart. Mark nodded after hearing my response to Ozpin, feeling the exact same way that I did. Though for some reason, I could almost feel him cooking up some sort of scheme that might either help us in the long run, or backfire painfully on us. If he is cooking up a scheme, then I hope it's the former. Oh well, that's Mark for ya. Out of the two of us, if it came down to it, due to his strategic mind, I'd trust Mark with my life, as there has only been ONE TIME where one of Mark's plans failed, but that is a story for another time.
Ozpin gave a small humming sound before deeming my answer as an acceptable or correct one. He then said, "I see, no wonder it's why I can see how brightly your souls both shine. Despite the fact that both of your Auras are still locked. It's rare to see such a thing I must say." He then put a small finger on his chin and then smiled. "I think that these two tomes were somehow meant for you. I cannot use them myself nor have I managed to discover their secrets, other than the fact that they are capable of allowing the user to use Magic from the pages, and even then, these Tomes have refused to let anyone use them for Magical purposes. You two on the other hand seem to have this…'glow' around you. Could I entrust you with these and to take good care of them?" He asked.
Mark immediately responded for the both of us, "Yes, we will gladly take care of them the best we are able, and use them responsibly." I nodded in agreement. I kinda felt it wasn't something Oz needed to ask anyway, our response would gladly stay the same.
Ozpin nodded and handed the two of us the tomes that soon vibrated with power once in our hands. It was as if they knew us. I could only think how nice it was to have such a connection. It was then when I thought that, two names appeared on both our tomes. Mark's was Dark Genesis of Light, and mine was Dark Origin. I found both titles oddly suitable.
As soon as we pocketed the tomes in a convenient spot our cloaks had, Ozpin then spoke again. "I can see a great potential in the both of you and I'd hate to see it wasted. Would you accept my proposal and join my Academy? I can tell that you likely have nowhere else to go, and not only that, I can tell you're both Faunus, an especially rare type at that, as it's a type that is sadly considered Extinct, that is, until I found you two. Unfortunately, the Faunus is a race that is sadly discriminated a lot here despite differing opinions and appearances. I can provide a source of income and housing as well?" He offered.
I mentally spoke to Mark, yet I knew how he'd respond back. 'So what should we do Mark?' I asked with a small, knowing grin.
'What do you think? Of course we join~!' was Mark's enthusiastic reply.
Then we both said at the exact same time, "Of course! We would be glad to attend here!"
Ozpin gave a pleased nod and then said, "Well then, before I begin sorting all that out, I would like to unlock your Auras first. If you'll both step forward?"
Doing as we were told, Ozpin put a hand on each of us and said, "For it is in passing that we achieve immortality. Through this, we become a paragon of virtue and glory to rise above all. Infinite in distance and unbound by death, I release your soul, and by my shoulder, protect thee."
It was then that we felt a burst of internal energy that suddenly emerged from deep within our soul, protecting us as if it were an eternal partner. Mine was an eerie yet soothing purple with electrical blue accents mixed in. As for Mark, his Aura glowed a powerful black-red. It felt heavy yet strong. He must've had quite a bit. Only I could sense this subtle little detail though.
Both of us then gave a small nod to each other, knowing what we'd like to do for now in the meantime. "With your permission Professor Ozpin, Mark and I would like to go out and explore Vale a bit. Is that okay?"
Ozpin just gave a small nod and replied, "That's fine. The paperwork will take awhile anyway. Until then, try and stay out of trouble." Although, from the smirk that I saw, I had a feeling Oz knew trouble was like our official middle name...
Mark's POV (((Location - From Dust Till Dawn)))
After we took a bullhead to Vale, Cayden and I decided to split up for the time being, as we wanted to find specific places to go to, favorite foods and all of that. I also practiced with my Semblance a bit. Now that my Aura is unlocked, I can freely use it, and I am certainly LOVING my Semblance! But I digress, by the time we arrived in Vale, it was dark out. Soon after splitting up, it was then I noticed that I was right in front of a certain store: From Dust Till Dawn. I decided to go check it out. Knowing what is probably about to happen, I made sure to write a quick note to a certain someone telling them to meet me at a certain location bringing along a certain person at a certain date, while making sure he isn't followed, and to burn the note after he reads it, lest it possibly be used against him. I will then put the note in the guys pocket when I see the opportunity. And thanks to a little trick with my Semblance I'm going to use on him, he will HAVE no choice but to hear me out!
The plan all set and me all ready to go, I headed straight towards the shop, a grin on my face. I was really excited this was happening! Although here's hoping Cayden won't fall to a stress attack… I sweatdropped at this. That would be ugly.
It seems I was approaching the store with time to spare as Ruby hadn't even arrived yet. Might as well take a look around anyway, this is home now.
As I was looking at some different Dust vials (they were amazing to see for real by the way), the door chimed again and lo and behold… the Red Reaper herself finally arrived! She Seemed to still herself for a brief moment, but then shrugged it off and once seeing some cool looking weapon mags (not THOSE mags), she gave a small (and cute) squeal then vanished over quickly in a blur of rose petals. I couldn't help but shake my head in amusement; come to think of it, was I hearing Grima making some sort of gagging noise in the background of my mind?
'Do you mind?' I asked the childish (surprisingly) Fell Dragon with a mental head shake.
"Gotta have SOME entertainment here boy, so sue me!" Grima replied snappishly.
'I don't even think that's possible.' I thought with a sweatdrop.
Grima didn't even respond, so I took that as my win. I then decided I may as well go and see Ruby face-to-face. After all, I WOULD like to know more about her than what was shown in the show.
As I approached, she was already seen wearing her headphones and listening to her music. She definitely had good taste in music as well, I'll admit. I decided to reach a small weapon magazine myself (not that I needed it) from across her so I could take a closer look at her Silver Eyes.
She then noticed me shortly after and we made brief eye contact, then something strange happened. I was deeply entranced by her eyes...they almost seemed to glow and reflect mine. Before I knew it, Ruby and I both grasped our heads in slight pain, and unsurprisingly we bonked heads together. Ouch…
The pain faded away after a while and we looked again at the other. Ruby was also blushing? And… her eyes were now covered in some sort of scaling. I could only assume the same for mine perhaps?
A soft gasp from Ruby herself convinced me that it was true. She then spoke.
"Umm, your eyes...are pretty cool mister?" She hesitantly began while twiddling her thumbs and having a shy gaze on her face.
"Oh. Where are my manners? I am Mark, and I could say the same to you, miss?
Ruby (I already knew that was her name, but still, I can't give myself away) gave a small gasp and waved her hands around in small panic. "Oh! Um, my name's Ruby Rose! I'm hoping to become a future Huntress!" She smiled with hands on her hips.
I chuckled a little. "Oh? I see, my own is to be able to protect the world from ALL EVIL!" I declared while striking a cool (but also funny) pose!
Ruby giggled and replied, "Wow. It's nice to have a common goal. I never thought I'd find someone similar to me. I'm bad at socializing…" she then rubbed the back of her head cutely.
"Well, you're not the only one, I only have one other friend, and this is the first time he and I have ever even been in a city like this." I said truthfully. "And unfortunately, I never knew my parents." As an afterthought, I then said, "Plus, I'm betting his stress eruptions as we call them, are likely the worst of the worst." I then laughed sheepishly. It was true, but I was saying it mildly. It was worse than it simply sounded. It was so bad, it can't even be described in words (unless you were maybe Nora? Nah).
Unfortunately, all good things had to come to an end as the door chime rang again, but this time, a group of fancy looking chaps and THE Roman Torchwick himself enters. I kept talking to Ruby, as it's rather funny seeing a goon fly out a window. I was only able to hear him because of my enhanced senses.
"Ugh! Talk about timing tonight boys. You have any idea how hard it is to find a Dust Store open at this blasted hour?!" Roman ranted. "Anyway...gimme your Dust kind sir, ALL of it!"
The shopkeep could only shiver in response and Roman was losing patience. "Sometime today please!" He gave the shopkeep the stink eye now. Having no choice, the shopkeep did as commanded. I then noticed a lone thug walking towards us but away from Ruby's line of sight. I decided to make this a bit more entertaining…
"You two! Put your kiddy hands in the air!" the Unimportant Random Thug said.
"Huh?" Ruby said, turning around.
"I SAID put your hands in the air!" he repeated aggressively, teeth grinding.
I decided to butt in, "Are you...robbing us?"
"FOR OUM'S SAKE, YES!"
"Ohhhhhh." Ruby and I said, before smirking and kicking him through the shop's aisle.
Roman thought he heard some sort of pained cry and tilted his head to one of the thugs (dummies more like it), "Go see to that please…!" He pointed with his index finger, already losing enough patience to get grey hairs on his head.
Once the second thug started to get near us, Ruby launched herself at him and kicked him through the window. It was here, where I started the first phase of my long-term plan.
"Well? Get her!" Roman shouted, in an annoyed voice, hand beginning to massage his temple.
While Ruby was taking care of the thugs, I quickly and quietly snuck behind Roman and put my little small note in his pocket. I then activated one part of my semblance, then tapped his shoulder. When he turned around, "I" waved at him mockingly, to which he responded by hitting "me" with his cane, causing "me" to explode in a burst of glassy shards, and appear right next to Ruby, and took out the grunt sneaking up on her, shocking both Roman and Ruby. Roman in particular because the Semblance is SO familiar, and Ruby because I had basically teleported. I even Smirked mockingly at him, which only confused Roman even more.
Roman's surprise was actually quite palpable, even for a few moments. He took one long look and then took his cigar outta his mouth saying, "Is there something wrong in my smoke?" He shrugged and decided it wasn't worth the time right now. He then looked at the rest of his (unconscious) thugs and sighed heavily. "You all were worth every cent, truly you were." he sarcastically stated. He then looked at us and was slightly taken aback due to our eyes' states and said, "Well Little Red, Dragon Boy, I think this has been a fun enough night as it is so, I bid you adieu!" He then aimed his Melodic Cudgel cane at us and fired a powerful Fire Dust Bullet, catching us by brief surprise. However, since it's been at least a few seconds since I used my Semblance, I am now able to use a different aspect of it unseen, in which I did. I grabbed Ruby and left behind a Shadow Clone while jumping up into the air intercepting Roman's escape attempt.
Roman groaned and could only mutter, "It's like their all coming outta the woodwork these days. UGH!"
I then decided to do something that I knew Ruby could easily get behind and do with me. I then asked her, "You trust me?"
Ruby nodded and I whispered my plan quickly. Her eyes became starry for a brief moment and then we nodded while smirking, commencing 'the plan'.
"Try to keep up?" I smirked.
"I could say the same!" Ruby responded.
We both then held hands (Ruby gave a small blush there obviously), and together we disappeared in a whirlwind of black and red rose petals, along with Cherry Blossoms, attacking Roman on every side we could get. Our small team attack however was briefly broken by the sound of a Bullhead appearing, its engine making us stumble. A ladder was quickly dropped down and Roman quickly grabbed on and jumped in. He then gave a smirk and said, "Looks like this is goodbye! Nighty-night!" he then threw a small red shard of Dust and aimed at it. I knew this would be devastating but he fired before I could intervene, thankfully there was no need.
*BOOOOOOM!*
A transparent yet powerful telekinetic shield managed to, ahem, shield us from the brunt of the blast. Roman took a quick look at who helped and muttered out a multitude of curses that would make a sailor (and Ruby) blush, thankfully, he didn't say it out loud! He quickly said to someone specific in the pilot's seat.
"We have a freaking HUNTRESS! Do something please!" He panicked.
The pilot didn't deign to respond but instead motioned for Roman to take control while they handled things. As they approached, I knew it was Cinder, the false Fall Maiden, but did not say it aloud, just giving her a withering glare instead.
She gave an unimpressive glare back and shot flames at us and the Huntress (Glynda Goodwitch by the way). I then took out my Special Tome, Dark Genesis of Light, and shot fire back as well, yelling "Fire!", surprising Glynda, Ruby, and Cinder as well.
Cinder however, shrugged it off quickly and decided to take advantage of this by shooting the flames not at us, but the ground below, causing Glynda to shield us again. By the time the dust (heh) settled, the Bullhead was long gone. We all gave a small breath of relief which was then broken by the adorable Rose.
"OOH! You're a Huntress! Can I have your autograph?!"she doesnt know Glynda simply harrumphed and I knew we were gonna have a long night. I wonder how Cayden was handling his end?
(((LINE BREAK)))
As of the moment, Ruby and I were in a small interrogation cell. Seems like Glynda really has that kind of vibe about her after all.
After a few scolding words from Glynda, Ozpin then arrived and defused the tense atmosphere. Although, he gave a small smirk my way saying, "Getting in trouble already Mark? And after just meeting me." He chuckled, making me roll my eyes good-naturedly.
He then complimented Ruby on her skills and decided she could come to his school, Beacon Academy. He then pulled me aside as Ruby began to daydream (while eating more cookies that were brought to her) and said, "I'd like if you joined as well Mark." He then gave a small knowing wink. I simply gave a knowing grin back.
Ruby then mentioned something important. "While we're still out and about, I gotta go pick up my sister, Yang!" I nodded and I already had a feeling Cayden's night was as eventful as mine if not more-so. "I'll come with you, after all, an innocent maiden such as yourself shouldn't be going along!"
Ruby simply blushed and replied, "Maaaaaark!"
(((Scene Change)))
Meanwhile, in an unknown location, but presumably a warehouse of sorts, Roman was drinking a small beer after the night's stressful events. As he sat down, a crumpling was heard. Wondering what it was, Roman then pulled out a piece of paper that was addressed to him surprisingly. He then remembered the one kid's identical Semblance to his partner's and thought to himself, 'That kid is REALLY creepy.' He then unfolded the letter and began to read…
Once he finished reading, he burned the note, grabbed an unlit cigar, and smirked, "Well, things just got a whole lot more interesting, eh Dragon Boy?"
