-2 DAYS LATER-
Remus was sitting at the bottom of a staircase. The sun was setting slowly, and Remus was exhausted. He had spent the last two days trying to find food and begging for money.
Remus awoke with a start. He looked up to see that a short, fat man was shaking him awake.
"Oi, kid. You're blocking the stairs"
"Sorry, sorry" Remus responded, brushing himself off.
"You might want to go home and take a shower, you stink" The man grunted.
Remus mumbled an apology again and started running towards the nearest train station. As soon as he reached the station, he found a train going to King's Cross. Remus used the little begging money he had, to buy a ticket.
Remus arrived at King's Cross Station at 10:30 am. Perfect, he thought. Remus knew that it would look weird to enter the platform with just a small backpack. So, he was glad he had gotten there before most people would usually turn up. Remus leaned against the wall between platforms 9 and 10 and stumbled into platform 9 ¾. he quickly clambered onto the train and rushed to find the smallest compartment in the back of the train.
After roughly 20 minutes of sitting in the compartment, Remus heard James and Sirius conversing near the compartment door. Remus hurriedly shut the curtains so they couldn't see him inside.
"Hey, someone's in there" James whispered to Sirius.
"Really!?"
"Yeah they just shut the curtains"
"Hey!" Sirius called out to Remus. "who's in there?"
Remus was starting to panic. He called back in, what he hoped was a convincingly higher voice, "Who are you?"
"Hey Remus" James chuckled as he reached for the door.
Remus winced and then plastered a fake smile on his face. As Sirius pulled the curtains back, he noticed that Remus's smile didn't quite reach his eyes.
