T.W: Abuse and Homophobia.

There is swearing.

Knock, Knock!

Remus lifted his head up. He didn't know how long he'd been there.

"Remus. I know you're in there. Open up"

Remus' eyes opened in horror. It was Sirius. What did he want? Oh, it can't be anything good.

"Remus if you don't open up, I'm going to knock down that door myself" James threatened.

He knew that James wasn't joking. Timidly, he opened the door. James pulled Remus out of the cubicle, causing him to cringe in pain. James immediately let go. He looked up at Remus curiously.

"What's wrong Remus?"

"Nothing, I'm fine" Remus answered hurriedly, eyes trained on the floor.

Sirius narrowed his eyes in suspicion. Remus peeked up to look at Sirius and jumped when he saw the cold expression on his friend's face. Sirius saw him jump and immediately tried to relax his face. Sirius had an idea of what was going on as, he too, was a victim of abuse. Of course, Remus knew this about the boy and was desperately trying to convince Sirius that this was not the case for him. Remus tried to stand a little straighter and look the boys in the eyes.

James stared at Remus, trying to read his face like a book. Remus looked down at his shoes, he couldn't handle lying to his friends like this but he thought it was necessary. Sirius grabbed Remus' face, jolting the taller boy out of his thoughts, and forced Remus to look him in the eyes. Sirius could see past the glazed look in his eyes. He could see the pain and hurt, hiding in the furthest corners of Remus' mind.

Remus tried and failed, to pull away from Sirius' grasp.

"No, I'm not letting go until you tell me what's wrong." Sirius stated firmly.

The train suddenly lurched forward and then settled back into place, granting Remus a moment to escape. He pulled Sirius' hands off his face and maneuvered his way past James. Remus sidestepped Peter, who wasn't paying that much attention in the first place and opened the door as quickly as he could. Remus slipped through into the hallway while the other boys were still recovering from the sudden movement.

He grabbed his little bag from the abandoned compartment and jumped off the train. Remus hopped onto the first carriage to Hogwarts just as it was about to leave.

He ignored the chatter up to the castle. He didn't feel like talking, emotionally exhausted from the day. As soon as it arrived Remus ran up to his dorm and chucked his bag onto his allocated bed in the middle of the room. He told himself he wasn't hungry; despite being starved over the holidays.

-Time Skip-

"Remus, why weren't you at dinner" James asked as he barged through the door.

"I wasn't hungry" He lied.

James thought this acceptable and laid back on his bed. Sirius, however, thought this was a suspicious answer and sat down next to Remus. Sirius sighed and reached over to grab his hand. He winced at the contact, and quickly retracted his hand from Sirius'. Sirius studied Remus' movements, trying to make connections.

Remus told Sirius to get off his bed because he was going to sleep. Sirius hopped off the bed and slumped onto his own. Remus put up the silencing charms he knew he would need and drew the curtains around his bed. He leaned back against the pillows and tried to drift off to sleep.

"Stop, dad please" Remus squealed.

"I'm not your father, not with you going around kissing boys and shit" Lyall roared in response.

"I'm not -I'm not, I swear!" Remus lied, in an attempt to escape his punishment. He knew this would be a fruitless endeavor.

"Liar!" his father countered, increasing the force of his punches.

Lyall beat Remus more furiously than he ever had before.

"Don't lie to me Remus, DON'T LIE TO ME!"

"I swear I'm not. Please, I'm not!" Remus tried and failed to convince him.

All of a sudden, Lyall stopped his punches and left a winded Remus writhing in pain on the floor. Remus tried to look through the blood in his eyes, to see what had distracted his father for so long. Lyall was rummaging through the kitchen. Remus could only guess what he was trying to get. Lyall turned around holding an electric whisk. Remus watched as Lyall brought it over and sat down next to him, dread pooling in his stomach as he eyed the cooking utensil.
