A/N
Hey y'all, it's been forever since I last posted. I'm really sorry for that I have just been busy recently. I will try and post a new chapter as soon as I can, I'm just here to tell you guys that I'm re-writing this so the next few chapters might sound a little different. I'm not changing the plot, just my writing style. :)
I have updated the last chapter to include more so go re-read that before you read this or it won't make much sense.
Thanks.
"Wh-what secret" Remus unconvincingly stuttered.
"Don't play dumb with me Remus, I know all your little secrets. Every single one" Snape sneered.
"I don't have any secrets" Remus tried to persuade Snape again.
"I'm not falling for your innocent act"
Snape let Remus drop from his hold against the wall.
"You're not going to last more than a month here anyway Remus. You shouldn't even be here in the first place"
Remus felt tears pooling in his eyes threatening to spill over the edge at Snape's last comment. He knew he wasn't supposed to be here; he was so worried when he was eleven that he wouldn't get his letter. Remus was so grateful when Dumbledore showed up at his house explaining everything to his mum and dad. He knew he shouldn't let himself get affected by Snape of all people, but he couldn't help it. It hurt to hear those words.
Remus picked himself up off the floor, plastered a smile on his face, and started to limp after Snape. By the time Remus had reached the hospital wing Snape was already healed and waiting for him. Madam Pomphrey was scolding Snape for leaving Remus behind when he was clearly more injured. Remus made his way over to a bed, with Madam Pomphrey's help. Madam Pomphrey cast a spell to see the extent of the damage the boiling water had caused but it didn't seem to be anything she couldn't fix quickly. Remus thanked Merlin when she didn't find any other problems.
-Sirius POV-
Back in the potions classroom James and Peter were laughing while Sirius sat, staring at his cauldron, his thoughts full of Remus' strange behavior.
"Sirius!" James nudged Sirius' shoulder.
"Mr. Black!" Professor Slughorn called. "Are you paying attention?"
"Yes sir" Sirius answered quickly.
"Then can you tell me what I was just saying"
"No sir" Sirius mumbled.
"That's what I thought" Slughorn stated smugly.
Sirius turned back to his thoughts, ignoring the concerned looks he got from James and Peter.
-Remus POV-
Remus was walking back to the classroom when Peeves popped out of nowhere.
"Leave me alone Peeves." Remus pleaded.
Peeves just laughed.
"No"
Remus sighed and prepared for the worst. Peeves released some sort of mist into the hallway. The mist seemed to have no effect on Remus until he caught sight of his reflection in a suit of armour nearby. Peeves hadn't expected that. Remus looked on as he saw himself, a frail, sickly boy, covered in bruises. Remus sent an angry glare toward Peeves.
Uncharacteristically, Peeves flew down the hallway without another word. Remus picked himself up and walked to the nearest bathroom, carefully so as to not let anyone see him.
Sirius caught a glimpse of a boy as he ran past him in the corridor. He was small and appeared to be sick. Sirius could swear he knew that boy.
Remus locked himself in a stall and began to recite his glamour charms. His skin turned from a pale white to a tanned peach, he gained some fat, and his bruises vanished. He stepped out of the stall to come face to face with Sirius. Remus looked at Sirius, startled by the sudden confrontation. Sirius grabbed his arm and spun him around to stand in front of him. At the alarmed look in Remus' eyes, Sirius dropped his hand.
Remus stared into Sirius' eyes before he quickly became overwhelmed and fled out the door. Sirius was in close pursuit so Remus kept running. Finally, once he was sure Sirius was gone, Remus slumped against a wall and breathed out heavily. As Remus let out a shaky breath, someone moved in the shadows. Remus hadn't noticed as he was too busy keeping ahold of his panic attack, but someone was moving towards him. Remus laughed humourlessly and pressed his fingers against his eyes. Rubbing his temples, Remus opened his eyes only to see James standing over him, hand outstretched.
"You all right mate?"
"Yeah, yeah fine." Remus took James' hand and lifted himself up.
"Why are you so out of breath and shaky?"
"Had a run-in with peeves" Remus half-lied and let out another, albeit less shaky, breath.
James clocked how Remus' words were tipped with guilt and how he seemed to be on edge. He feigned a laugh and started to walk with Remus to their next class.
