Chapter 12: The Wolf, the Hawk, and the Crane

Both Faiz and Kaixa were still surprised to see the Crane Orphnoch before she slowly walked to them as she brought out wings of light from the back of her hips.

"Yuri? What are you…" Faiz said but before he could finish the Crane Orphnoch swung her wings at the Riders as they dodge them by rolling on the ground as they cut cars and other things in half like they were made out of butter.

The Riders' friends were surprised to see that.

"Holy...I hate to be on the other side of that." Haruhiko said as the others nodded in agreement.

"Damn, Yuri, didn't we tell you to learn a little…" Kaixa said as he stood up but the Crane Orphnoch stopped him from finishing as she landed a kick on his head forcing him to stumble back.

"Yuri!" Kaixa said as he dodged a few hand attacks from the Crane Orphnoch. "Yuri, stop it! I don't want to fight you!"

"Good. It makes my job easier." The Crane Orphnoch said as she brought out her wings of light and wrapped them around her waist in the shape similar to a ballerina's tutu before she flew at Kaixa while spinning like a ballerina as she slashes on Kaixa's chest which sends him to the ground as the Crane Orphnoch lands on her feet and dismissed her wings.

Kaixa was about to get back up but the Crane Orphnoch stops him by stomping her foot on his chest.

"Minato-kun!" Reina said in worry.

Kaixa was struggling to remove the Crane Orphnoch's foot off his chest before she stomps her foot on his chest several times causing him damage as he grunted.

"Stop!"

The Crane Orphnoch turns her head to see Orga charging at her and throws a punch, but Orga's punch stops midway which was much to his surprise.

"What the…?" Orga said as he wasn't able to move and could feel something was restraining his body.

Orga looked down and saw a shadow had wrapped around his arm and body, and it was from the Crane Orphnoch's shadow as it was extending to his feet and up his body.

"You have powers too?" Orga said in shock.

The Crane Orphnoch didn't answer as she throws a kick on his head, which sends Orga off his feet but her shadow was still holding onto him as it lift him up, and the Crane Orphnoch begins to slam him on the ground several times before she used her shadow to throw Orga to a nearby wall as he falls to the ground.

"Kiba!" Koito said in worry as she ran to check on him.

"I'm alright…" Orga said as he stood up on his knees and shook his head.

The Crane Orphnoch then turns back to Kaixa as he still struggles to remove her foot off of him as he looks at her.

"Yuri…" Kaixa mutters.

The Crane Orphnoch then aimed her hand at Kaixa to thrust it at him to finish him…

[BURST MODE]

The Crane Orphnoch was fired upon as she was forced to move away from Kaixa. She soon looked at her shooter and saw that it was Faiz armed with his Phone in Gun Mode.

"Yuri, please, you have to stop this. I don't want to fight you." Faiz told her.

"If it means anything I don't want to either. But I have my orders." The Crane Orphnoch said as she moved her shadow towards Faiz as it took the shape and form of several spikes and Faiz dodges them by rolling on the ground.

As Faiz stops rolling, the Crane Orphnoch charges at him and attacks by throwing a few kicks and hand thrusts as Faiz dodges and parries her attacks, but Faiz couldn't bring himself to fight back.

Faiz dodges the Crane Orphnoch's next hand thrust and grabs onto her wrist and arm in a submission hold to restrain her.

"Yuri...why are you doing this? If you're still Smart Brain then you should know all the horrible things they've done." Faiz told her.

"I know. And I don't care." The Crane Orphnoch told him as she managed to slip free from Faiz's hold on her.

She soon kicks at him and Faiz blocks it with his arm and then the Crane Orphnoch attacks him with a chop as it blocks with his own arm.

"If you know, then why?! Why do you continue to side with them?" Faiz asked.

"Kazuto...you of all people should know that Smart Brain is the only home I have. After all, you made it my home." The Crane Orphnoch answered.

Hearing that surprised Orga and the others, except for Kaixa as he and Faiz lowered their heads.

The Crane Orphnoch uses that opening as she uses her shadow to entrap Faiz's foot as he soon notices.

"Oh crap!" Faiz said before the Crane Orphnoch lifted him up and began to slam him on the ground a few times and then slamming on a few walls and a car as it was crushed.

Then the Crane Orphnoch slams Faiz on the ground as she let's go of him as Faiz rolls on the ground.

Faiz was groaning as he was struggling to stand back up as the Crane Orphnoch walked to him.

"Yuri…" Faiz mutters.

The Crane Orphnoch soon readies her hand as it assumes a chopping stance and soon aims it at Faiz. While his friends were worried, Mai gave the Crane Orphnoch a narrowed look.

Just as the Crane Orphnoch were a few feet away from Faiz, Mai soon moved in front of her and faced her to protect Faiz which surprised him and the others.

"Mai!" The others said in worry.

"Mai, what are you doing? Get out of here?!" Faiz told her.

"You should do what he said. I don't want to hurt humans unless I have to." The Crane Orphnoch told her.

Mai then slaps the Crane Orphnoch on the face which surprises everyone in the area, including the Orphnoch herself as she turns back to Mai as she places a hand on her cheek.

"And you should think more before you act!" Mai exclaimed at the Crane Orphnoch. "How could you be Kazuto and Minato's friend if you can hurt them like this!"

"Mai…" Faiz mutters.

"Their friend huh? Then tell me, are you aware of their secret? That they're Orphnoch like me?" The Crane Orphnoch asked.

"I do. And I don't care." Mai told her and the Crane Orphnoch was shocked to hear that. "Me and the others were willing to accept because of who they are. Not what they are."

The Crane Orphnoch was even more stunned to hear that as she saw the look in her eyes and could tell she wasn't lying.

The Crane Orphnoch sighed as she looked at Faiz as the latter was looking at her.

"You've made some good friends here, Kazuto. I'm kind of jealous." The Crane Orphnoch said as she stepped away from Faiz and Mai. "Fine. I'll stop, but don't think this will be the last time you'll see me."

The Crane Orphnoch crossed her arms and spread them out as her legs changed into a bird's legs with large wings on the side. The Crane Orphnoch then uses her wings to fly into the air and leave.

Mai sighed in relief as she fell on her rear. Faiz manages to sit up to talk to her.

"Honestly...that was reckless even for you. You almost gave me a heart attack." Faiz told her.

"Well, you were always the one doing the saving, I thought I took a turn at it for once." Mai told him.

"Well, either way, thanks." Faiz said and Mai chuckled.

Faiz then looked up in the air as he thought about the Crane Orphnoch.

"Yuri…" He mutters.

After the Crane Orphnoch had left, Kazuto and the others had returned to Haruhiko's house so that the Riders could have their wounds treated.

"And...there, all done." Reina said as she applied the last bandage on Minato.

"Thanks, Reina." Minato said as she closed the first aid kit.

"You're welcome. I'm just glad I was able to help." Reina said with a smile.

"But still, I still can't believe that Orphnoch was able to beat the three of us so easily." Kiba said as he rolled his shoulder a bit. "Even if you two were hesitating."

"Well excuse us for not wanting to hurt a friend." Kazuto said.

"Hey, I didn't mean it like that. I completely understand." Kiba said as he secretly thought. 'And it's not like I'm one to talk about hesitating.'

"Well thanks I guess. But man, Yuri sure has gotten a lot stronger these past years." Minato said as he folded his arms and leaned back.

"Yeah. It really surprised me too." Kazuto said as he held his wrist and flicked his fingers.

"So…" Haruhiko said, which got Kazuto and Minato's attention as they turned to both him and the others. "Care to explain how exactly you two know this Yuri-san?" Haruhiko asked.

"Yeah. I'm curious about that myself." Kiba said, since this Yuri is the Crane Orphnoch in this world, he wants to know more about her since it's the form of a dear friend of his.

Both Kazuto and Minato were a little hesitant about it as they thought about it before they turned at each other and nodded and then turned back to their friends.

"We've met Yuri around three agos. She is...Or rather was a friend of ours when we were still in Smart Brain. The three of us were the best of friends." Minato explained first.

"But if that's true, then why didn't she leave with you two when you escaped?" Reina asked.

"It's a bit complicated. But due to certain circumstances, we each had to move to different facilities. And I think it's mostly what she said earlier." Kazuto said.

"You mean the part where she said that Smart Brain was her only home?" Mai asked and Kazuto nodded. "But why would she think like that?"

Kazuto sighed as he rubbed the back of his head.

"It's mostly due to the fact she had nowhere to go. And I helped with that." Kazuto said.

"What do you mean?" Mai asked.

"Well...I only know this in bits and pieces, but back when Yuri was still human, she didn't live a kind and peaceful life." Kazuto said as he recalled Yuri's pasts.

(Flashback, three years ago)

Appearing on the screen was a house that was large enough for four people to live in. On the nameplate was the name 'Shinkawa'.

Inside the kitchen/dining room were three people eating breakfast together. Two were a man and a woman in their 30s with a teenage girl.

The girl had long black hair tied in a ponytail and had cyan green eyes. She was also wearing a school uniform. The girl also resembles Yuri in some ways.

"You see, Yuri had a family. A mother, father, and a sister." Kazuto said.

"She had a sister?" Reina asked.

"Well, half-sister to be precise. They had the same mother but different fathers. Her birth father had passed away a year after Yuri was born, and her mother remarried a few months after and gave birth to her sister. I think her name was Mariko. But despite growing up together there was a little problem with their house and family."

As Mariko was eating with her parents they were talking while smiling.

"So Mariko, how was school so far?" The mother asked.

"I'm doing good. I managed to get some good scores on my tests." Mariko told them.

"Really? That's nice. Maybe we should go somewhere to celebrate. It's been a while since the three of us had gone somewhere together." The father suggested.

"Really? That's great! I want to do Chinese then." Mariko requested.

"Of course. Unlike Yuri, you're good at anything as long as you put your mind to it." The father said.

Unknown to them, is that a 13 year old Yuri was walking down the stairs before she stopped and overheard what they had said. Normally someone would be hurt to say that, but Yuri just decided to let it go and continued to walk down and soon arrived at the dinner table.

"Good morning." Yuri greeted her family but was left ignored as they continued to talk and eat with each other.

Yuri then looked down at her dinner plate and saw it was different from the meal her family was eating. Instead of having a bowl of rice with some omelettes and miso soup, Yuri's breakfast was a piece of simple bread and a glass of water.

Normally kids her age would complain about the kind of meal that was made for them by their parents, but Yuri just accepted as she sat down and ate the bread like it was normal for her.

"You see, both of Yuri's parents would often favor Mariko more while she was left almost like a stranger to her own home." Kazuto told them.

"That's horrible." Haruhiko said.

"Yeah! That really makes me mad! I just want to give those three a good punch and two!" Ruru said as she threw a few air punches.

Kiba was silent as he slightly bit his lip.

"Yeah. I can understand, I'm still disgusted about it even to this day. And her school life wasn't anything better either."

After breakfast, Mariko had gone to school but Yuri stayed behind as their father wanted her to do the dishes and other chores. But as she was doing them, Yuri could overhear her step-father openly speaking his contempt towards her with her mother, but she manages to ignore his words as she continues to do her chores.

After that Yuri was on her way to school but as she arrived at the entrance, she saw her half-sister and her friends waiting for her as she stopped.

"Hey there, Yuri." Mariko greeted her half-sister as she and her friends walked to her.

"W-What is it, Mariko?" Yuri asked while looking a little nervous right now.

"Well...There's this new lipstick that I want but I don't have the money for it, so I need to borrow some from you again." Mariko said as she twirled her hair.

"But you know I'm saving up for a new bag." Yuri said as she looked at her school bag as it was covered in some cuts and tears.

"You shouldn't bother with something that's going to be messed up again." Mariko told her as she offered her hand to her half-sister. "Now if you would."

While reluctant Yuri soon brought out the money she was saving and gave it to Mariko as she took it. She smiles as she walks back to her friends as they count the money.

"Are you sure this is okay, Mariko? Isn't she your older sister?" She asked.

"It's alright. We only share the same father." Mariko said as she turned to Yuri. "She's not my real sister. That pathetic thing."

Yuri was hurt to hear that as she lowered her head as Mariko's friends chuckled.

"You got that right! You're much cuter than her!"

"Come on! Let's go!"

Mariko and her friends leave for school as Yuri continues to lower her head as she is trying her hardest to fight back her tears.

After classes are over in Yuri's school, most students who belong to clubs are seen practicing. Yuri was in the basketball team with Mariko, as they were following who had the ball but Yuri was having trouble keeping up.

"Yuri! Catch!"

One of the members passed the ball to Yuri but it ended up heating her on the head.

"What are you doing?!"

"I-I'm sorry…" Yuri mutters.

And it didn't stop with that the other members began passing the ball to Yuri but ending up hitting her, but actually they were doing it on purpose because they were enjoying every moment of it. Mariko watches as she enjoys watching Yuri's anguish.

"Everyday in school, Mariko and most of her classmates would often bully her and they enjoyed it too. And she didn't have any friends to rely on back then. But then, there was a chance for Yuri that would have changed her life for the better."

One day in school, Yuri was called into the student facility office. She soon arrived as the principal was waiting for her.

"Y-You called me sir?" Yuri asked a little nervously.

"Yes, Shinkawa-kun. There's someone who would like to meet you." He said as Yuri turned to that someone.

It was Himeno Arisu, a teacher of Hosea academy.

"You see, Yuri had an encounter with a teacher of Hosea academy after it was discovered she had special abilities. I didn't get the teacher's name though."

"Shinkawa, this is Himeno Arisu, a teacher of Hosea academy." The principal introduced Arisu as she bowed her head.

"Hello there, Shinkawa-san." Arisu greeted her and Yuri was a little confused on why she's here.

Both Yuri and Arisu were seated by the table with two cups of tea and snacks on it.

"So why do you want to talk to me?" Yuri nervously asked.

"Well it should be simple given my school's reputation. But I'm here because I heard you are a very special girl, right?" Arisu asked.

"T-That's not true…" Yuri said.

"Shinkawa-san, it's alright. I know that you have powers." Arisu said and Yuri flinched to hear that. "If it's alright, can you show me what it is? I promise I won't tell anyone."

"D-Do you really?" Yuri asked and she nodded. Yuri breathes in and out. "Alright."

Yuri then looks down her shadow and it soon begins to move as it took the form and shape of her own body as it was now standing on its feet. Arisu was amazed by what she had just seen.

"Amazing...So you're able to manipulate and control your shadow." Arisu said.

"Hai...I developed this ability about a month ago, but it's hardly anything special." Yuri said as her shadow returned to normal.

"I wouldn't say that. If you were able to control it to the point of mimicking your own body shape, then you must be extremely talented." Arisu told her.

Yuri blinks in shock to hear that, no one in her life had ever told that to her.

"Alright, Shinkawa-san, would you be willing to be a student of my school?" Arisu asked and Yuri was surprised to hear that.

"M-Me?" Yuri asked and Arisu nodded.

"Hai. If you're curious about developing your powers even further, then Hosea academy would be the perfect place for you." Arisu told her.

"But...I'm not sure…" Yuri mutters.

"It would be fine, and I think it's for the best." Arisu said, which made Yuri blinks in confusion. "I hope you won't mind, but I talked to most of the teachers here and I heard how you were treated."

Yuri flinches as she lowered her head.

"You're horribly treated here, especially by your own sister. Why won't you say anything about this to your parents?" Arisu asked.

"It...It wouldn't matter. Even if I did say something it wouldn't change anything." Yuri said, and Arisu blinked to hear that but she slowly put the pieces together.

"Oh I see. Then this is all the more reason you should accept." Arisu said as Yuri blinked and looked up at her. "You see, our school supports those who live by themselves and we can help them find a place to live. And if you do great work in Phantom related cases, you'll make a lot of money and rewards. Not to mention, you might meet good kids and make new and true friends."

"New and true friends…" Yuri mutters.

Unknown to them is that Mariko was eavesdropping on their conversation as she was standing close to the door and in hiding while she was stunned to hear that.

"Can...Can you give me some time to think about it?" Yuri asked.

"Of course. And if you choose to accept my offer, I'll be willing to speak to your parents about this." Arisu said and Mariko was even more surprised to hear that.

"Unknown to Yuri, is that her sister overheard her conversation. You see, unlike Yuri, Mariko didn't develop powers like her. And after hearing all of that, Mariko was extremely worried about losing their parents' love and wasn't going to allow that." Kazuto said.

After her talk with Arisu, Yuri was standing on a bridge above a street as she was leaning on the railing. She was still in deep thought about Arisu's offer and her words to her.

She then thought back to her life at home and in school, she then thought if people in her own home were going to treat her like a stranger and if students of her school are using her as a plaything, then maybe it's best that she should just leave and start over again.

"Alright. I'm going to accept her offer." Yuri said as she was going to leave and head back home, but…

"Yuri…"

Yuri blinks as she turns around and sees her sister Mariko standing behind her.

"Mariko? What are you doing here? I thought you were hanging out with your friends." Yuri said but Mariko only said…

"Why?" Yuri blinks before she walks to her and grabs onto her shoulder as she glares at Yuri. "Why are you the one who has powers?!"

"Eh?! Wait, you've overheard?" Yuri asked.

"Why are you the one who has powers, and I don't?!" Mariko shouted as she tightened her hold on Yuri's shoulders which hurt her. "Why?! I'm the one who is better than you in everything! So why are you more special than me?!"

"Mariko...You know that's not true! Just because I have these powers doesn't make me special." Yuri told her half-sister.

"Don't give me that crap! You were hiding this power until now so you could show it to Mom and Dad to steal them from me!" Mariko stated.

"What? You know I would never…" Yuri mutters.

"Stop lying to me!" Mariko exclaimed as she began to shake her shoulders.

Mariko then begins to Yuri to the steps until she slips on the edge and falls down the stairs as Mariko let's go and watches in horror, until eventually Yuri has fallen to the ground.

As Mariko looks at her half-sister, she notices that she wasn't moving, not even a twitch from her finger, which most likely indicates she must have received a fatal injury from falling on the stairs.

Mariko was horrified by this as she placed a hand on her mouth to keep herself from screaming or vomiting as she quickly ran away before anyone could see.

Yuri's fingers begin to twitch as she slowly begins to open her eyes as they turn white, indicating both her revival and transformation as an Orphnoch.

Yuri slowly stood back up as she looked up the stairs and saw that Mariko was now gone. Yuri then looks at her hands as she wonders how she didn't receive any injuries, but she chooses not to question it as she was just grateful to still be alive.

Yuri then chooses to go home.

It was now night time. In the Shinkawa house, Mrs. Shinkawa was doing some housework while her husband and daughters were away, but her daughters were late coming home and were starting to worry about Mariko.

She heard the door opening and saw that it was her husband as he walked into the house.

"I'm home." He said.

"Welcome back. Did you see Mariko on the way back?" She asked.

"No, I didn't. Did something happen?" He asked.

"She hadn't come back home, and she wasn't answering her phone. This isn't the only time that this happens either. You should talk to her about this."

After hearing that, Mr. Shinkawa was also worried about Mariko before they heard the door opening, and they turned to it hoping it was Mariko, but it was Yuri as she walked into the house and closed the door behind her.

"I'm home." Yuri said.

But the father only sighed in disappointment.

"Oh it's only you?" He said as he left and Yuri wasn't bothered by that as she was planning on leaving anyway.

After overcoming the shock of accidentally killing her half-sister, she was seen walking back home. But then she heard a car horn honking behind her, and saw a car approaching her as she quickly jumped out of the way but ended up falling on the slope by the street.

"What was that for?" Mariko said as she attempted to stand up but stopped as she felt a sharp pain on her foot, she must have twisted her ankle from the fall.

After Yuri had changed to her casual clothes, she was washing the dishes before she could hear a voice.

"Help me...Someone help me…" It was her half-sister's voice.

"It's Mariko…" Yuri mutters before she turns to her parents. "Mariko's in trouble!"

"Huh? What are you talking about?" The father asked.

"I could hear her! Follow me!" Yuri said as she ran out of the house and her parents soon followed her.

Mariko was leaning on a tree as she continued to call out for help.

"Mariko!"

Mariko's eyes widened as she recognized that voice as she saw it was her half-sister as she and her parents ran to her.

The father pushes Yuri aside as she runs to Mariko to help her up.

"Thank goodness. Thank you, Yuri." The mother said as she grabbed hold of Yuri's shoulders.

"No! Kaa-san, don't touch her!" Mariko told her.

"But it was thanks to Yuri…"

"No! She's the one who pushed me! This was her fault!" Mariko told her parents which surprised them and even Yuri as she shook her head.

"No...It wasn't!" Yuri told them.

"Then how did you know that she was here?" The father said as she walked to her with Mariko's arm on his shoulders. "There's no way you could've heard it."

"I heard it! I did!" Yuri told him.

But he just slaps on her face.

"Get out! I can't have you living in our house anymore! Get out!" He demanded.

Having been kicked out of her own home, Yuri was walking in the streets alone as it began to rain on her as lighting appeared and flashes of her Orphnoch form had appeared over her.

Next day, Yuri had gone to school as she was walking up the stairs but stopped as the members of the basketball team appeared in her way.

"Hey, Yuri!" One of them said as they walked to her. "We've heard from Mariko. How you were kicked out of your house."

"Oh you poor thing."

"Just make sure you keep coming to practice though. It would be boring without you."

"A-Alright…" Yuri mutters.

Then one of them signals the others and they push Yuri to the ground and restrain her.

"W-What are you doing?! Stop it!" Yuri pleaded but was ignored as her bullies began to take off her socks and shoes and left her barefoot as they walked away and laughed.

"That is...That is just horrible." Haruhiko said.

"Yeah, it was. But as you know, one could only bottle up their emotions for so long until eventually...That bottle will break."

Despite what they did to her, Yuri soon arrived at the gym to practice with the basketball team.

But the moment she opened the door and saw them practicing, she spotted her socks and shoes lying on the ground as they were torn into pieces.

After seeing that, something finally breaks in Yuri as she opens the door and walks inside as she closes the door. One of the members of the team spotted her.

"What are you doing, Yuri? Come on!"

Yuri soon transforms into the Crane Orphnoch…

Mariko was inside of the locker room with a knife in her hand and the other hand on her mouth as she was seated on the ground as she could hear the screams of her teammates on the other side of the door.

She secretly sneaked inside of the locker room with the knife in her bag with the intent to kill Yuri herself to make sure she stays dead.

When she heard her sister's name, Mariko was ready for her as she waits for Yuri to come in to change, but to her shock she heard screams of horror on the other side as she slightly opens the door to see her sister had transform into an Orphnoch and slaughtered the girls of the basketball team.

She quickly closes the door to hide in the room as she covers her mouth to prevent herself from screaming.

The screaming lasted for a few minutes until it finally stopped. Mariko then heard footsteps, and it sounded like it was heading towards her which frightens her as she begins to sweat, and they get closer and closer...until it finally stops.

Mariko thought it must have been her imagination, but then the door broke off from the wall and thrown to the ground. Mariko soon saw the Crane Orphnoch was standing in front of her as she looked at her.

"Mariko…" The Crane Orphnoch mutters as she glares at her.

Mariko stood up as she pointed her knife at the Crane Orphnoch despite her hands shaking in fear.

"S-Stay back you monster!" Mariko shouted but the Crane Orphnoch walked to her. "I said stay back!"

Mariko attempts to stab the Crane Orphnoch but she easily catches it in her hand.

The Crane Orphnoch soon pulls the knife out of Mariko's hand and throws it to the ground. Mariko then attempts to run past the Orphnoch to run away, but the Crane Orphnoch catches her as she grabs onto her shoulder and pulls her in front of her as she grabs hold of Mariko's neck and slowly lifts her up and off her feet as she struggles to break her.

The Crane Orphnoch glares at her half-sister as tears of fear begin to form on her eyes as she gives the Orphnoch a pleading face.

"Please...Yuri...Forgive me...I'm sorry...Please, I'm your sister, spare me…" Mariko pleaded.

But her pleas were ignored as the Crane Orphnoch aimed her other hand at Mariko's chest and her eyes widened in horror.

"Yuri...No! Please, forgive me!" Mariko pleaded before she grunted as the Crane Orphnoch thrust her hand into her chest as it pierces her heart before it disintegrated.

The Crane Orphnoch pulled her hand out of Mariko's chest before she turned to ash while still holding her by the neck.

The Crane Orphnoch breathes in and out as she looks around and sees that the members of the basketball team were now reduced to nothing but piles of ashes.

She then looks at her hand as she was in horror at what she had done.

"S-She really did all of that?" Mai asked in shock.

"She did." Kazuto sighed. "It's not often that a newborn Orphnoch would often go on a rampage after being born. Thankfully for Yuri, the cause of the deaths was deemed too abnormal, and the inspectors reported it was caused by a Phantom. But it didn't exactly help. After what she did, she was scared and confused, and she had nowhere to go because she thought of herself as being too dangerous. Smart Brain was able to locate her, and they sent someone to bring her to them."

Yuri in human form was sitting on the stairs that leads to an underground tunnel as she was crying.

That is when she noticed someone had sat down next to her. She looked and saw it was a 13-year-old Kazuto.

"W-Who are you?" Yuri asked.

"I'm Inui Kazuto. I'm a friend." Kazuto introduced himself.

"No way...You were the one who brought her to Smart Brain?!" Ruru said in shock.

"It's a standard Smart Brain protocol. They send an Orphnoch who is around the same age as newly born ones, so that they'll be more at ease to follow them." Kazuto said.

Yuri quickly stands up and backs away from Kazuto as she stops on the wall.

"No...You need to stay away...I'm dangerous." Yuri told him.

Kazuto soon stood up and faced her.

"It's alright. I heard what happened, and I understand what you're going through. Because I'm like you." Kazuto said as he showed his Orphnoch markings on his face.

Yuri was a little surprised to hear that.

"I know that you're confused and scared after going through all of this. But I want to help you, only if you let me." Kazuto said as he offered his hand to the scared Yuri.

Yuri looks down at his hand before she looks up at his face as Kazuto shows her a kind smile. Yuri blinks before she slowly but surely grabs hold of his hand.

(End of flashback)

"And after that, I brought her back to Smart Brain and it has become her new home ever since." Kazuto said as he finished the story.

The others were silent to hear that before Ruru spoke to Minato.

"But Mina-chi, how did you meet this Yuri-san?" Ruru asked.

"I told you not to call me that. And to answer your question, Kazuto introduced me to her. The three of us became the best of friends, they used to call us the three musketeers." Minato said.

"More like a trio of trouble markers." Kazuto said as he gave Minato a narrow look as he blinked in confusion. "You always tend to drag us into trouble and we usually get yelled at because of it."

"Hey! That's not true and you know it!" Minato exclaimed and Reina chuckled to hear that which made him flinch.

"But anyway, what are you two going to do now?" Mai asked and Kazuto and Minato turned to her.

"What do you mean?" Kazuto asked.

"What are you going to do about Yuri after what happened?" Mai asked once again. Kazuto flinches as he lowered his head.

"I...I don't know." Kazuto said.

"What do you mean you don't know? She's your friend, don't you want to bring her back?" Mai asked.

"Of course I do!" Kazuto said. "But...She said so herself, she told me that Smart Brain is the only home she has. I highly doubt she wants to leave it behind."

"But...She must be aware of the horrible things they've done. Why would she stay with them after all this time?" Haruhiko asked.

"I really don't know. Dammit...If only I took her with me when I escaped." Kazuto said as he tightly held his hand before Minato placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Hey man, don't beat yourself up over this." Minato told him. "It's not like you're the only one who's left her behind."

"Minato…" Kazuto mutters as he could tell that Minato was also wasn't sure what to do for Yuri.

Kazuto then looked out the window and saw a flock of birds flying in the sky which reminded him of Yuri in Orphnoch form.

'Yuri...Just what are you going to do now?' Kazuto thought.

(Later at night)

Yuki was seated on the edge of a building as she was looking at a picture on her phone, the picture had herself, Minato, and Kazuto as Yuri was wearing a birthday hat as she blushed in embarrassment while Kazuto blew on a party whistle and Minato fired confetti.

It was on the day of her fourteen birthday, she didn't celebrate her birthday often back in her old home, so Kazuto and Minato decided to make it a big one to make up for all the birthday parties she missed. Kazuto had invited his parents along with Professor Midorikawa.

She then remembers meeting Kazuto's parents, she was nervous at first but she slowly warmed up to them as they had treated her kindly and warmly during her time in Smart Brain, they even treated her like family despite the fact she wasn't human anymore.

Yuri sighed as she put away her phone and looked behind her.

"How long are you going to hide there?"

"Well done. I was hiding my presence quite well, but you were still able to notice me." Said Saeko as she walks out of the darkness to greet Yuri.

"Honestly...If Murakami-san was going to send you to spy on me, he should've at least let me know." Yuri said as Saeko stopped beside her.

"I'll have you know that he didn't send me to spy on you. I was watching over you by my own choice." Saeko told her.

"Sure you did." Yuri said as she wasn't convinced by that. "So care to tell me why you're here?"

"Was it truly wrong for a senior to watch over her kohai? I mean, I was the one who invited you into Lucky Clover." Saeko told her.

"And I'm grateful for it. But can you get to the point already." Yuri said.

"My point is that your future as an Orphnoch and with Smart Brain is looking bright. Which is all the more reason I should warn you, don't throw it away over sentimentality. Your friends made their decision just as you did." Saeko told her.

"I know!" Yuri shouted before she sighed. "I know. You don't have to tell me."

"Good." Saeko said as she left. "The CEO wanted me to give you a gift. It's in a car in the back of this building. You'll know it when you see it."

Saeko soon disappeared in the darkness of the shadows.

Now that she was gone, Yuri took a moment to hug her legs as she buried her face on her knees.

"Just...what am I doing?"

(Next day)

School now resumes for Hosea academy, Kazuto and his friends decide to walk there as a group. Kazuto and Minato were walking ahead of the others as they were silent right now. Their friends noticed that as they had a worried look on their faces.

"Geez...They've been like that for a while." Ruru said as she was flying in a folded sitting position.

"Can you blame them?" Mai asked. "A good friend of theirs just suddenly attacked them, and it seems like they'll be seeing her again."

"I can understand how they're feeling." Kiba said. "But still, they shouldn't let it get to them. She made her decision by staying with Smart Brain, just like they made their decision to fight against it. They should just accept it and move on."

"Kiba, you don't have to put it like that." Mai said as she gave him a narrow look.

Kiba sighed.

"I know. But it's still the truth." Kiba said as he secretly thought. 'But it's not like I'm one to talk.'

They were about a few feet away from the school's gate, but then suddenly…

*SHRIEKING, RINGING*

A high pitch sound was heard as Kazuto, Minato, and Kiba covered their ears as they fell on their knees. But for some reason their friends weren't affected by it.

"Kazuto-kun?!" Mai said in worry as she knelt down to Kazuto and Reina knelt down to Minato.

"Minato, what's wrong?" Reina asks as Minato turns to her as he grits his teeth.

"What?! You mean you can't hear it! That ringing!" Minato growled at the noise.

"What's ringing? I don't hear anything." Haruhiko said as he was completely clueless.

Kiba looks around and notices that the other students weren't affected by it.

"It seems like...we're the only ones who could hear it…" Kiba mutters.

"It...must be a high pitch sound that's only effective on Orphnochs." Kazuto theorized.

"The hell…? Then who's making that sound?" Minato wonders before they could hear a familiar voice with the noise.

"Kazuto, Minato." Both Kazuto and Minato's eyes widened as they recognized it as Yuri's voice.

"Yuri…?" Kazuto said.

"If you can hear this noise then listen closely. I'm at a scrapyard in the outskirts of the city, northwest. Don't keep me waiting." Yuri told them and with that the noise had stopped which made the three Riders sighed in relief.

"Damn...How could Yuri stand that noise?" Minato mutters as he and the others stand up.

"What do you mean by that?" Ruru asked.

After the ringing had cleared up from the Riders' ears, they told the others Yuri's message to Kazuto and Minato.

"The scrapyard from outside of the city?" Reina said.

"Yeah." Minato nodded. "That's what Yuri said anyway."

"But I wonder why she didn't call out to Kiba." Kazuto said.

"But you two can't be serious about going are you? It's obviously a trap." Haruhiko pointed out.

"No, I highly doubt that." Kazuto said. "Yuri isn't the kind of person who would send a message like that just to set up an obvious trap."

"But still, what are you two going to do?" Kiba asked.

Kazuto and Minato thought about it before they nodded at each other.

"Think it should be obvious. We're going to confront her." Minato said which surprised the others. "I don't why she should send that message, but she made it clear she won't stay there for long. Best to see what she wants."

"No, you're staying behind Minato." Kazuto said, which surprised Minato as he turned to him. "I'll confront Yuri by myself."

"What? Kazuto, you can't be serious?" Minato asked.

"Yeah. There's no reason for you to go alone." Mai said.

"That's where you're wrong. I'm the reason why Yuri is in Smart Brain in the first place. So I need to do this." Kazuto told them.

After leaving his friends, Kazuto, now riding on Auto Vajin in its bike form, had soon arrived at the scrapyard where Yuri had told him to meet her as he stopped.

Kazuto then took off his helmet as he looked around to see that the coast was clear. He then stood off his bike before he spoke to it.

"Auto, remain in stand by here until I call for you."

"You got it Kazuto." Auto told him.

After putting on his Faiz Gear, Kazuto soon walks into the scrapyard as he looks around for Yuri before he calls out to her.

"Yuri! I'm here!"

"Took you long enough."

Kazuto stops as he looks up and sees that Yuri was sitting on the railing of a nearby large machine. Yuri then jumps down and lands on her feet as she faces Kazuto.

"Where's Minato? I called out to both of you?" Yuri said.

"Oh trust me, we heard it clearly. I just wanted to face you alone. And I want to ask, how did you make that...noise and how come you weren't affected by it?" Kazuto asked.

"It was thanks to this." Yuri answered as she brought out a device that resembles a microphone. "A little gift from the CEO. It was made from the development division, it sends high frequency soundwaves that are only effective towards Orphnoch, but harmless to humans. And these block out the noise." She said as she removed and showed two high tech ear plugs.

"Have to say, that's some impressive tech. Smart Brain really do come up with some sick and twisted inventions." Kazuto said.

"Well, I guess I can't deny that." Yuri said as she put the devices away. "But it did call you here, so I'm not complaining."

"So why did you call me here?" Kazuto asked.

"I think it should be simple, Kazuto. I'm here to bring you back to Smart Brain." Yuri said, which surprised Kazuto.

"Nani?"

"Just like you brought me to Smart Brain when we met, I'm here to bring you back with me. What you did was unforgivable to the CEO's eyes, so I highly doubt he'll forgive you so easily. But as a member of Lucky Clover, I can put in a good word for you and if you hand over that belt to him then I'm sure he'll welcome you back with open arms. All you have to do is to come back with me." Yuri told him as she reached out her hand to him. "Please, Kazuto, it's not too late for you."

"Yuri…" Kazuto mutters as he slightly bit his lip before he asks her a question. "Before I agree on anything, there's something I need to ask you."

"What is it?" Yuri asked as she lowered her hand.

"Yuri, if you're a member of Lucky Clover, then that means you must have killed a lot of people to have a position with them, did you?" Kazuto asked.

Yuri lowered her head.

"I'll admit, I did dirty my hands a bit. But the people that I've targeted are all scumbags, just like any other human." Yuri said.

"Then what about my parents?!" Kazuto shouted and Yuri flinched. "I'll admit, there are a lot of scum like your parents in the world. But my parents were humans, they treated you like family, would scum really do something like that."

Yuri averted her eyes from Kazuto.

"I guess I can't deny that. But it's not like you're one to talk." Yuri said and Kazuto blinked to hear that.

"What do you…?" Kazuto said…

"How could you and Minato leave me?" Yuri asked and Kazuto flinched. "I know that you both have your reasons, but it still doesn't change the fact that you left me behind. How could you do that?"

"Yuri...I'm sorry. You're right, I should've come back for you. I know that's no excuse, but…" Kazuto said.

"Even if you did, I highly doubt I would've left with you." Yuri told him.

"What?" Kazuto said.

"You and Minato may have found and made new friends that accepted you, but I had no one. I had no one to turn to and had no place to call home. All except Smart Brain. It's the only place I belong, where people can accept me and will never abandon me." Yuri said as she held her arm.

"Yuri…" Kazuto mutters in pity as Yuri looks up at him.

"Kazuto, I'll ask one more time. Come back with me." Yuri told him.

Kazuto tightly clenches his hand before he shows Yuri a strong resolve in his face.

"You know I can't do that. Especially what Smart Brain has been doing." Kazuto told her.

Yuri was both saddened and disappointed to hear that as she sheds a tear and wipes it away.

"I see...Then you leave me no choice." Yuri said as she transforms into her Orphnoch form.

Kazuto was also saddened by this as he brought out his Phone and entered the code to activate it.

[STANDING BY]

"Henshin…" Kazuto mutters as he inserted his Phone into his belt.

[COMPLETE]

Kazuto soon transforms into Faiz.

Both Faiz and the Crane Orphnoch stare at each other for a while before they charge at each other.

Then the two engage in hand to hand combat as they attack each other while blocking and dodging at the same time.

Then the screen freezes as the Crane Orphnoch blocks a back handed punch from Faiz.
