Ki Master

Chapter 17

Author Notes: Alright my poor poor readers...it's time to torture Rin~ Time for school. Lucky we got Yukio there to keep him in place. Both literally and figuratively. Also before i forget i do wanna say thanks for waiting so long.

After my holiday one shot week i took a break from typing, which is something i most definitely needed. But in doing so i didn't really do any uploads so let's get this started my friends. I do not own Blue Exorcist.

3rd P.O.V

"I can't do this." All it would take is one second and he'd be out of there in a flash. "Now's not the time to chicken out Rin." However a certain someone's hand was preventing him from running away. "I-i'm not a chicken! I just don't want to stay here." Yukio could only sigh as his grip tightened.

Feeling that if he didn't his brother would slip away otherwise. Both of them were dressed for their first day of school. Well, Yukio was, his twin was barely following the dress code to the academy. And his appearance was screwing up with Yukio's perfectionist ocd big time as he gives a glance over.

Showing just what total opposites the two of them were when it came to their personalities. They were the perfect stereotypical statement of fraternal twins. As different as night and day. For a moment Yukio wondered what it would be like to have had a childhood with Rin.

Would their bond be any different? Or their personal traits and habits? He hoped they would still be close, but right now wasn't the time to be letting his mind wander. Especially since the lanky boy would more than happily run off if given the chance.

"I understand your nervousness Rin, but trying to ditch on your first day is just asking for trouble. Especially after what Ms. Ming said." All the blue eyed teen could do was growl quietly, remembering the conversation. He still hated the stupid excuse for a clown. This wasn't funny at all!

He refused to believe it. "What are you saying mom?!" The fox demon sighed as she sank into the mattress, looking so tired. "I'm saying that he got us. We're both going to his academy, you as his student and me as his new teacher for his exorcist cram program." Lies. That was all he could think.

It shouldn't have been possible. "I thought we agreed that it was a bad idea to go. What happened when you left with him?" If the bastard did anything to his mother there was going to be hell to pay. It didn't matter if this guy was his half brother or king of some kind.

Blood will be shed as he kicks the demon to kingdom come-screw Gehenna! "He did nothing to me Rin. I promise." Her son immediately looked at her bandage hand, finding it hard to trust in her words. She promised she wouldn't lie or hide things from him...

"I'm finding that hard to believe mom. You're still bleeding even though we've changed your bandages a million and one times!" He could smell the iron from her injury, if she were a normal human she would've been dead already.

Actually she was still trying to recover from her previous wounds since Rin was never able to expel the silver shreds from Yukio's bullets. Were it not for her powers to heal on top of the books him and Yukio grabbed from his busted down house, she probably wouldn't be doing as well as she is.

Still it didn't stop him from biting his lip from nerves. He hasn't felt so anxious since he was a little kid. When his powers first formed and he nearly burnt the house down along with her. Once again he was placed into a position where he couldn't understand what was happening.

"I realized after my little talk with him that...he essentially has our fate in his hands. There is nowhere safe for us to run, let alone live. He sent the tengu to our home and attacked me to prove a point. The way I am, I am in no condition to stand up against him. And neither are you."

It was a painful blow to both of their prides. They had been living a good life. Not necessarily an easy one, but good all the same despite the crazy, unpredictable moments in their lives. But Samael within a matter of weeks was able to destroy that.

Their livelihood was ruined and though Shiro offered them protection at his territory...it wasn't safe for either of them. Not permanently anyways. There was a reason demons never sought salvation in any sort of church...

Plus it wasn't theirs. If they were going to find a home, it was going to be one that was theirs. That couldn't be at risk of being taken away as easily as the one they lived in for the last fifteen years.

"He didn't threaten me, but well, it's only a matter of time before both realms realize that the inheritor of Satans' blue flames is in Assiah. And when that happens...it'll be a bloody battle." Who their opponents would be she couldn't say.

But considering the circumstance the shapeshifter wouldn't be surprised if they would be targeted from each side. "As much as I hate to admit it the asshole's shields and barrier magics surpass mine. They're far stronger and he has better resources should things fly south."

It was a naïve thought that Ming Xia believed she alone could protect her son from anything that came her way. Mephesto's meddling and her promise to her deceased lover proved that. She couldn't ignore the truth of it any longer.

"B-but you can teach me Ki manipulation right? Something I can learn and use far more then getting dragged to some stupid school." Desperation was in his eyes, hope filled as he pleaded with her. He never liked school to begin with.

Teachers hated him, kids were scared of him, classes were hard to understand and boring. Plus-the stakes were high that should anyone find out the truth about them, it was possible they could be backstabbed. And Rin was absolutely justified into having those concerns.

She of course had them as well. "Right now we're not in the position to where we could defy him. He is currently our best shot at survival. That doesn't mean I plan on letting him continue manipulating our actions Rin. Far from it actually." Her eyes glow for a minute, glancing down at her injured hand.

Watching her blood coat the tightly wrapped gauze. "I know this is going to be hard. I'm not looking forward to this either, however, this will give us the chance to rest, recover and learn new skills to help us in the future. Just like with your powers we need to be patient and see what comes our way."

His lips pursed in frustration. He wanted to open his mouth to argue with her. To tell her that this was a stupid idea! But he couldn't. She was right as per usual. He certainly couldn't come up with any grand plans to shove into the stupid demons' face.

"Ok fine-but your hand?" A small smile formed on the fatigued mother's face as she raises it. Her fingers separating slightly to cast shadows upon her face. "A small price to pay for making sure Samael doesn't cause any sort of trouble or mischief at your expense." His brows furrowed in thought.

Not understanding her vague answer. Making her smile twist in amusement as she imagines the look of frustration on the eccentric fool's face. "Remind me when we get settled to explain blood oath contracts. Just know that this wound is proof that I've already started my revenge for him putting us through this."

Rin's head bobbed back and forth along with the rest of his body as he returned to reality. Making him blink as he finds himself still in the middle of the courtyard leading to the school. "Don't think you're alone in this Rin...I'm actually pretty worried too." Immediately the elder twin looked up, seeing Yukio's words true.

His fingers were twitching, in a position similar to that of holding one of his guns. It was his nervous tick. "What's got your panties in a bunch? Should we reach worst case scenario we agreed you had no idea about me." Yukio frowned at that statement.

That was the decision their two guardians came to a conclusion should the worst case scenario came to be though he didn't agree with it at all. Sure Rin got their biological father's powers, but the same blood still ran through his veins.

Why should one twin be considered a monster and not the other? Why should ones' blood determine the goodness or wickedness of someone's heart? "Don't count on me abandoning you and Ming Xia just like that. No matter what I'm sticking through this to the end."

It's what their birth mother would've wanted. Especially with how kind and well...human the mother-son pair were. They didn't deserve to undergo any such suffering. "Ok, so if your not scared of my cover being blown then what's the problem?" Yukio grimaces as he places a hand over his heart.

He could feel it pulsating through his chest as the crowds of students came in swarms. His other hand gripping harder on Rin's bony shoulder. Making the other wince in response. "It's about the opening ceremony we have to attend." The taller teen was struggling to breathe as his other half tilted his head in confusion.

Not understanding why some stupid, formal introduction to the school was so bad. All you have to do is sit and listen to some teacher drone on and on right? At least that's how it was in his old middle school.

Sure it's annoying as all hell, but not dangerous or terrifying. "Sooo...why is that a bad thing?" His answer came nearly fifteen minutes later, when he and his brother entered the auditorium. "Freshman representative Yukio Egin!" Rin's eyes bugged out wide as the mentioned student rose.

"Here!" To nearly all of the individuals there watching him go down the stairs he seemed calm, confident even. "Wow, representative means he's the one who has the highest scores in the entire grade!" However with his demon eyes, Yukio's brother could clearly see him tremble.

Offering a fake smile as he takes the stage to grasp the hand of one of the teachers. "The guy must be super smart. Not too bad looking either." Rin didn't envy him in the slightest. That was a lot of pressure to put on his shoulders.

Rin knew when they officially first met that Yukio was an academic workaholic that always flawlessly passed his classes. But this seemed too much to the raven haired boy. Still, despite his concerns he was amazed.

He respected his twin for his smarts, so seeing him get the attention and praise made him stand amongst other students and clap made him so proud. "You go Yukio!" The demon spawn couldn't help cheering right alongside everyone with a grin even though his sibling was no doubt dying from embarrassment.

There was a time he recalled Yukio telling him shortly after talking to Shiro that though he had the license to be a quote on quote 'doctor' or expert in healing demon wounds or identifying demon caused illnesses. He wanted to pursue his knowledge further into medicine, becoming a doctor in all senses of the word.

It was ambitious, no doubts about that. In general being a doctor wasn't easy. A lot of work, money and schooling that always had a risk of things going wrong. Of failure. However there was also no doubt in Rin's mind that his little brother had what it takes to achieve it.

He...only hoped he would live long enough to see it happen.

to be continued

Author Notes: Not too long or short, but is nearly identical to what we see in the manga, something i didn't think would happen when i first wrote this story. But i gotta say I like how it goes. At the very least we get a better understanding of Yukio's feelings.

Next chapter it'll be Ming Xia's turn lol. Oh yeah, it's going to be good and i can't wait to make her suffer~ But that's it for now guys. If you like this series please feel free to fav/follow/review as it would mean a crap ton to me. Tchao for now.
