Ki Master
Chapter 24
Author Notes: *Sees date* ...well...so this is long overdue lol. I had spent so much time prepping new chapters to upload that literally a year went by with no updates. So sorry about that. At least I got a good few uploads to post hehehe...I do not own Blue Exorcist.
3rd P.O.V
"Ohhhhh I'm so proud of you!" Yukio, despite the danger that they had just dealt with, couldn't stop himself from grinning from ear to ear. "M-ma...can't. Breathe!" Mainly due to the loving scene before him.
Ming Xia was grinning from ear to ear, nuzzling her adopted son with overwhelming pride and adoration. And though Rin was blushing, whining that she was embarrassing him...he didn't try wiggling out of her grasp.
Especially since both him and Yukio could see the slight shake in her frame. To anyone with a pair of working eyes it was clear that Yukio's poor twin though was currently suffocating from his mother's deadly embrace was-in the nicest words possible-a royal wreck from the exam.
His shirt was off(he had given it to Kamiki to protect what little modesty and pride she had) revealing a lot of cuts and deep, dark bruisings. And this wasn't the typical run of the mill type of injuries that would heal in a few hours. No, these wounds would take a few days.
In human terms, that wasn't too bad, people get scrapes and scuffs all the time. It's completely normal. For those of demonic heritage however it was an absolute nuisance. It was like a series of thorns or slivers stuck into your skin that you can't get out.
Overall Rin's body Ached. It didn't help that because the half demon had used so much of his Ki, he was exhausted...just standing was a struggle. Still despite dealing with all that, there was no destroying the joy that was coursing through his veins.
He finally managed to master some some of his Ki, surviving against low odds while protecting his classmates. Pain aside, it was a good day. "Ms. Ming...he's turning blue." Probably the best thing though in his opinion, was his mother praising him.
Just like when he told her he had a job and friended Yukio, she was all hugs and joy. Of course it would be really nice if the older twin could breathe...and breathe he did when she finally released him.
Her fingers vainly attempting to fix his messed up bangs. "Now with these injuries, I recommend resting Rin. When you've recovered, then we can continue training." He could sulk all he wanted. "But mom-" But she would not relent.
"Even demons have to recover, especially when they've pushed both their physical and magical limits. You'll be lucky if I let you make dinner." She kept her smile, even laughing as her adopted kin tried to change her mind...but something stirred deep within her.
Something was wrong...and she wasn't liking where her mind was trailing. "No ifs ands or buts Mr. Anymore protests and I'll be the one making dinner!" Even though Priest Fujimoto had told her about the exam, and there were teachers about, she took note that the demons' behavior was not right.
Out of all three students that were targeted, why...did they go after Rin? "Ok ok I'm off!" Izumo was in a fragile state of mind, Paku was injured and unconscious, either one of those would have been the perfect choices to target.
Yet they kept their attention on him, not even trying to maneuver around him to get to the girls even though at a glance it seemed like that. That wasn't normal demon behavior, test or not. Not to mention there was traces of holy water scattered about, specifically on her son.
It was interesting how on the parts of his body that was attacked by the demon horde had such traces. It was no wonder Rin was dealing with pains that would last for a few days. Why would they use holy water?
More so...the demons used in this exam have no natural ways of obtaining or producing it...let alone using it. "Hey Yukio do you mind doing me a favor? Actually make that two. First, can you get Shiro? And secondly, when you bring him, could you help Rin with making dinner?"
They were simple enough requests. However now something was nagging Yukio. "Uh, sure." There was a glint in her eyes that seemed off. They looked the same, but there was a coldness to it. It immediately reminded him of ice, like the cold winters back home at the Monastery.
"Thank you dear." He was relieved that she was on his side. Because if the little tidbits of the fight he saw between her and that tengu were any indication, she was a dangerous demon to piss off.

It didn't take long for her to connect the dots. Once she had gotten passed that relieved beyond belief sensation of seeing her son alive, she got to digging. Of course there was not much of it to do.
"Samael...mind explaining something to me?" Whenever something is happening, fingers are always pointed towards the most mischievous of demon pricks. "And what is that my dear?" And for good reason.
A growl emanates through as she slams a clawed hand on his desk, both of them hearing the splinters within the wood crack. "One of your teachers is out to get my son. And you allowed him to try and take claim without consequence. Why?"
There was no doubt she was an anxious wreck watching her son fight, if her frazzled demeanor was anything to go by. It killed her just standing there, having Shiro holding her, constantly talking her down from doing anything reckless.
It was especially a struggle when she saw how Rin was surrounded, dealing with burns destroying his skin. It was reminding her too much of the past, and how she was too late to fix things. But regardless of her instincts kicking into overdrive she stayed in place, watching her child adapt and fight back.
Taking into account all the lessons and skills he had been honing. Begrudgingly she had to admit this was what he had been enrolled into school for. And what she had desperately been trying to prepare him for. And it bared its fruit in one of the most wonderful ways possible.
He and his companions worked together, and pushed their enemy back. They lived. They won. They passed. And the best part was he did it without her help. Her little boy was no longer a little boy. For demons, time flew by slowly.
Ming Xia hasn't aged a day since she hit maturity hundreds of years ago. Yet it was different for humans and half breeds. Though she made each day meaningful for her son, time flew. The infant she held and protected all these years has grown up.
He may be her precious hellspawn, but he didn't need her to fight his battles anymore. To an extent, it saddens her, however she had to take a step to the sides and let him continue to grow. But that didn't mean she couldn't get involved when her irritating ex tries pulling bullshit.
"What ever do you mean?! If there is someone out to get my dear little brother I would know!" Honestly they were both too old for these pathetic mind games. But in the end she didn't even need to argue his statement.
Why should she? "Ahhh! Ohhh that stings." Her blood oath simply did the job for her. "Nice try, but don't tell me after all these months you've forgotten my little gift." Blood oaths were tricky, painful bastards.
But they were well worth it for situations like this. Watching the king of time, the trickster collapse to his knees, hissing as a harsh pain bursts through his frame was not a sight most demons ever got to see...let alone live to tell the tale.
And Ming Xia took pleasure for every moment of it. "We had a deal. I would teach your students my methods of Ki Manipulation should I find them worthy and remain here with Rin...so long as you swore he would be safe under your protection."
The demon male knew his way around magic, the barriers made all over the school were top notch, practically indestructible. Her investigation led her to one of the teachers that was overlooking the exam, which narrows things down quite a bit.
There weren't too many individuals involved in the exorcist side of school. And an even less number of them having summons. At any point she could unleash her claws on the perpetrator...but right now she had her eyes on the one that allowed it.
She knew she couldn't trust the bastard to keep his word...hence why she enacted the blood oath. "And I have my dear. Ohhhh it hurts!" If that was the case then he wouldn't be on the ground whining. He thought he could be sneaky.
"I know all about the night Satan attacked the human realm. Don't think I don't know how you managed to orchestrate things." The one behind the attack was a survivor of that night of chaos. And he desired revenge...
And Samael let him. "You can't protect him from everything you know. Regardless of my involvement there's always a way for a bad guy to slip between the cracks." Ming Xia stared down at him, unamused.
Her eyes began to glow. "Then as a member of the order and headmaster of this school it's your priority that there are no cracks for anyone to slip through." It may be true that power wise she was no match for him. But she didn't need to take him down in a battle of magic.
She was well known for her adaptive and fast paced mind. It was why Mephesto had been so invested in testing her patience all those years ago. "Don't insult me with such underestimations you irritating clown." He watches as claws form on her hand, glowing an unholy white.
"Many past encounters I've proved it to be a deadly mistake to try playing with me...if you truly wish for it, I will happily add you to my list of casualties." And that radiating danger only made him smile. "I can't wait to see you try my love." The game continues on.
to be continued
Author Notes: Honestly I'm really liking this game of advance chess between Mephesto and my oc. It's actually entertaining as I would have the same reactions if dealing with this crap.
Be prepared for a lot of chaos in the future guys. But that is currently it for now. Thanks for reading my story everyone. If you like what you see, please feel free to fav/follow/review as it would mean a lot to me! I'll see you next time. Tchao for now~
