Ki Master
Chapter 25
Author Notes: Well boys and girls it has been awhile~ So of course it is time for a long overdue update lol. Last time our...'wonderful' headmaster found himself in some hot water after Ming Xia chewed him out. Of course that means I do a new day and new perspective. I do not own Blue Exorcist.
3rd P.O.V
The exams were officially over. So with that and the sleepover at the abandon dorms over...things were back to normal. Except they totally weren't. "Seriously?" No one in class knew what to make of what they were seeing.
Or rather what students that were currently walking in were seeing. "What's the difference between offensive Ki and defensive Ki? How do you switch from the two types?" Suguro's mind specifically was short circuiting.
"Well...like M-ing Xia says, it's all about emotion. I did a shit ton of meditation exercises to get a feel of my Ki. Learning how it flows, and how I feel. When I fire ki balls I use my anger and focus on shooting it from my hand." Rin and Izumo were...talking.
There was no rude attitude or sarcastic tones that both were known to have. The two were genuinely talking about Ki, actually invested in the conversation. Though clearly Rin was wording things carefully, fearing of saying the wrong thing and facing her wrath. "Does emotion make it more powerful?"
But he wasn't sure what to say. This was the first time someone other than family turned to him to talk about something important. Honestly he thinks his stubborn classmate would be better off asking his mom these questions...but much to his surprise, she was running late.
"No matter what Ki manipulation is based on a matter of what you want to do. And how badly you want it to happen. Emotions basically fill it. I'm not that great with barriers...but essentially it comes from the desire to protect. You did that during the exam wanting to help me and Paku." Suguro had to rub his eyes.
What the hell? Since when has this been a thing? "So is it possible to do both offensive and defensive at the same time?" Izumo wasn't even sporting a scowl as she sat next to Rin. Her expression a combination of confusion and interest.
Watching the raven haired boy shrugs, unsure in his seat. "Yeah? Not that I'm able to do that. I've seen the teach mold her ki into a weapon and it staying shape even when no longer holding it. She's used Ki to heal injuries that aren't even hers. Anything seems possible." A hum escapes her.
Neither of them still aware of the audience. Crossing her arms, the summoner glances at the ceiling as a new question pops up. "And what about demons? Is it possible to enhance say-a summons' powers?" Suguro narrows his eyes as he notices the brash teen stiffen.
"What do you mean?" She moves her gaze back towards his. "Like say I had my summons Mike and Uke out and I'm injured. Could I use my Ki to strengthen them or have them use it?" Now that was a difficult question to answer.
For a lot of different reasons. "I'm...really not sure. I can get behind the idea of using ki to heal other people's injuries, but actually using it to strengthen someone or share abilities? If I had to guess, it's possible if the two's Kis' were compatible."
It was clear that Izumo was starting to get a little bit frustrated. She couldn't blame anyone but herself as she was too impatient to wait for the teacher to answer them...and even then she had expected these sorts of responses. Vague and unsure.
"Well, better than nothing I suppose." Still she couldn't stop herself from sighing as she slumps, resting most of her weight on her arms as she stretches back. "Sorry." She rolls her eyes. "There's nothing to apologize for you moron. At least you attempted to give me an answer instead of 'I don't know."
Ok, Suguro couldn't take it anymore. "Since when have you been interested in learning Ki?" Her expression immediately sours as Suguro and his posse of friends approach, though Koneko and Shima were sporting more thoughtful, curious expressions.
Looking at Rin in a new light even when the inevitable argument was quickly approaching. "What does it matter to you? At least I'm interested. All you and your buddies do is slack off and not take this seriously. If you don't care about learning then don't bother coming to class."
Sparks began to fly from the two, with Rin smiling in amusement. Considering that his female classmate here wasn't Truly invested up until now, it was kinda funny. "Chill out eyebrows. I'm sure he'll understand...eventually." Both turn to Rin with a glare.
Her for the terrible-embarrassing nickname. "My name is NOT eyebrows!" And him for that pandering, irritating tone used. "I don't want to hear it from someone who flunks eighty percent of his classes." He couldn't help chuckling, feeling lighter than he's been the last couple months.
He had been worrying about so much. And with passing the test, and becoming an official exorcist following his mom's beliefs he found himself loosening up around his classmates. And it brightened up the room. "How come you're so knowledgeable Okumura?"
His fellow students couldn't help but notice the difference, especially now when he's talking with the tsundere summoner...just what happened between them? "What do you mean Koneko?" Rin tips his head to the side, pursing his lips while ignoring the looks he was STILL getting from Izumo and Suguro.
"It's just...this is the first time we've heard you talk about Ki. And most of this is stuff we've never even heard of. I-I was just wondering how you knew so much?" As he continued talking the short boy started getting nervous.
Feeling incredibly rude even though it was a pure, honest question. "Oh! Uh...well after the first day of class I talked to M-ing Xia. I wanted to know about Ki more, asking her if she could give me training exorcises that could help me with my swordsmanship...guess some of that stuck."
He rubbed the back of his neck, looking incredibly nervous as eyes were all on him. But he was spared from further questions when the door opened. Revealing his mother, brother and surprisingly Shiemi.
"Well aren't you all getting along. Splendid." This was the first time since the exam that an official Ki class is taking place. "Professor Ming?" And it seem Rin wasn't the only one shaking up the norm. Each of the three newcomers had boxes in their possession.
Ming Xia took a quick scan, it seemed two of their classmates decided not to join on time. If at all...well then, fine by her. Izumo raised an eyebrow, eyeing them wearily. "What's all that for?"
Never has the Ki teacher brought props or items. "Well, a pair of somebodies have shown me the light-ergo I figured we were due for a change in pace. Outside everyone." Confused, everyone(who was sitting at least) rose to their feet.
Following behind a rather happy teacher...making Rin VERY nervous. Something his classmates took notice of. "Hey man, what's wrong?" Only Shima was brave(foolish) enough to ask him.
Rin tried to smile at the pink haired male. His scrunched up face made it look like a pained grimace as he scratched the side of his head. "I don't know what she's planning, but it's not going to be good." His mother was never this happy.
And if she is...it usually means whoever she has on her radar is going to be in a world of pain. "R-really?" Immediately Rin gets a smack across the head. The movement so swift that only the sound could be heard as Ming purposely slowed her pace.
"Don't be cheeky. Unless you want to be a demonstrator." No matter what he was going to be a demonstrator since Izumo wasn't yet in tuned with her Ki, but her gaze promised a lot more trouble than planned if he didn't shut his mouth.
So he took his mother's warning seriously and stopped talking. Even making a gesture with his hand, pretending to physically zip his mouth, much to her amusement. The rest of the walk continued in anticipated silence. "Drop it here." Yukio and Shiemi follow their teachers lead.
Gently placing the boxes on the ground in the middle of the field. "Now each of you can take something out of the box, it doesn't matter." Though confused they reached in...and a single moment is all it took for Rin to figure out what today's activity is.
And he was grinning from ear to ear. His item of choice was a wooden sword. His brother had a wooden spear, Shima chose a staff that looked as similar as it could to his actual one. Shiemi went with surprisingly enough a mace, Kamiki grabbed claws, Koneko picked an ax, and finally Suguro decided on tonfas.
All interesting choices. "What lovely choices of weapons wouldn't you say children?" Ming Xia was still smiling, causing a chill to run up all their spines. "Professor?" The only one who was ready for her was Rin who was getting into battle stance.
to be continued
Author Notes: Honestly this chapter was a treat to write~ So on the know-me and Sen ship Izumo and Rin. Neither of us really liked Shiemi. She's nice, and it was kinda cool watching her develop but not that interesting.
But then again we didn't like how some of the manga was turning out. Neither of us have gotten far enough into it but we do know Shiemi went from liking Yukio to Rin which did Not sit well for us lol.
Add to the fact that despite my typical dislike for tsundere's but really liking Izumo's character and development...ahem- So yeah, if there is to be a pairing its going to be with fox chick. But uh, i'm rambling again.
Shutting up on that minefield of shipping wars-everyone thank you all so much for reading this story. If you like it please feel free to fav/follow/review as it would mean a ton to me. And I'll see you next time. Tchao for now.
