Ki Master
Chapter 26
Author Notes: Whyyyy must school and work drain my energy away! I have things to do-things I wanna do yet my body keeps telling me to rest. So...sorry that the uploads have been slow.
But this is why I make a crap ton of stories throughout the summer. Especially now that classes are starting to get tougher. And holiday hell is going to be a pain in the butt this season. With that in mind, I do not own Blue Exorcist.
last time on Ki Master
"Now each of you can take something out of the box, it doesn't matter." Though confused they reached in...and a single moment is all it took for Rin to figure out what today's activity is.
And he was grinning from ear to ear. His item of choice was a wooden sword. His brother had a wooden spear, Shima chose a staff that looked as similar as it could to his actual one. Shiemi went with surprisingly enough a mace, Kamiki grabbed claws, Koneko picked an ax, and finally Suguro decided on tonfas.
All interesting choices. "What lovely choices of weapons wouldn't you say children?" Ming Xia was still smiling, causing a chill to run up all their spines. "Professor?" The only one who was ready for her was Rin who was getting into battle stance.
3rd P.O.V
His sword held tightly in his grip, his eyes flashing for an instant. So of course she struck, summoning a quick aura ball sending it his way. "Ahh!" Before anyone could even so much as flinch, let alone try and block, her son slashed at the aura ball. Vanishing as it split into two.
"What the hell professor?" Suguro looked furious, she could hear the strain the tonfas were undergoing. "Well it looked to me like some of you were getting bored with meditation...so I figured I'd get your blood pumping and do Ki Manipulation in a more productive way." She twirls a finger in the air.
Summoning her Ki for them to see. "Ki isn't like a magical spell a demon uses. It's life essence, and when used can be a physical force. Imagine if I say...shrunk it and change the shape." She does just that. And the group find their eyes widen at the familiar form.
She specifically shaped it into a bullet. "If I fired it off, it'd be a like I fired an actual bullet. And if you don't properly block or counter it, it will do massive damage. Shima. Up front and center." The pink haired flirt gulped, sweat dropping down his brow.
"Uh-um, can I not?" Poor thing, he actually thought he had a choice in the matter. "No. This is punishment for giving me a bullshit paper the other day. Get your ass up here." Suguro...gave him a helping hand and pushed him forward.
Tough luck kid, should've taken her more seriously when she assigned homework. If she has to pull hairs out in frustration trying to read his shitty fantasies of girls with poor penmanship then he can be her guinea pig.
There shall be no mercy today. Well maybe a little as she turns her little bullet into a more reasonable tennis ball size. "I'm going to toss this at your head Shima. You need to block or hit it with your weapon. Ready?" Her calm, quiet tone did not settle his nerves at all.
But in the end he had no choice as he braced himself. He was training to be a knight afterall. He needed to get some actual combat experience. Yet much to his and nearly everyone else's surprise despite actually having good aim and hitting it, her Ki ball went right through. "Ow!"
Clonking him right in the head. "What? How!?" He fell back on his ass. "How come that went through! It didn't for Okumura." And now it was time for teaching. "You're right. Why did it not go through? Rin. Your turn. Up." He obeys, still smiling.
And his mother doesn't even bother holding back. With no warning she throws it, it speeding right for his head. And like Shima, Rin was able to strike it, though it didn't go through, no. Just like before it's split in half before disappearing.
"Hope you were paying attention just now. What did Rin do that Shima didn't? Why was there two different reactions to my aura ball?" The fox tamer knew the answer with wide eyes, her hand immediately shooting up.
Causing Ming Xia to smirk. "Kamiki." All eyes were on her. "Rin was transferring his Ki into the sword. There was a blue outline on his sword when he struck your attack." That smirk grew tenfold. "Correct."
Again she manipulates her aura, constantly shifting it around her fingers. It acting like moving smoke. "Ki is a natural energy, it's automatically drawn to vessels in order to be absorbed. People, animals, plants, like a magnet it travels through air to reach it." She snaps her fingers.
Reabsorbing her Ki. "You could wear all the armor you want but in the end if you get hit and you don't summon your own to protect yourself well...you'd better hope it is on a similar wavelength to yours." To prove her point she forms four black Ki throwing knives in between each finger
In a matter of seconds of forming them she sends them flying at a nearby tree. Her students watch in mesmerized horror as the weapons disappear into the tree...and it quickly wilting. Before their eyes the lushes leaves fall, crumbling away as if it were late fall or early winter.
Immediately she rushes to the damaged bark. Placing her hand onto it. Revitalizing the tree as if it were never struck to begin with. "Ki clashes against Ki. It's not always equal in strength. Emotion, will, time and intent all play factors to how powerful it can be."
She turns then. Facing her students. "Shields, shooting a Ki blast, covering your body or weapon in your own Ki...all of those could counter an attack, but you better be ready to feel absolutely drained because the more you use, the more dangerous it becomes." It was an easy concept to grasp.
"You're gambling your life as it is your very essence that's being used as a weapon. Being surrounded in nature, Ki transfer, and just resting can restore it. But just like everything else in this world, each decision made can have consequences. Be wise with what you do with your life." They had to understand this.
Honestly it was that risk that made her originally start with meditation. Meditation and focus exercises outside actually helps with Ki flow in the body, making it grow stronger and more easier to manipulate. Due to his heritage, the only one actually capable of using his Ki for a long period of time was her son.
And even then it was risky since he was still half human. He could get tired just like anyone else. And there were some days it showed as he would take even longer than usual to slug out of bed after an intense training session. So Ming took all of that into account.
"Now...I had each of you pick a wooden weapon so that we could start safely trying to release your Ki into something without it exploding in your face." Wood was not only lighter and blunter than metal, but it was also much better for Ki to pass through and move.
Wood did originally come from trees, who soaked Ki like sponges. "Explode?" Konekomaru squeaked as his complexion began to pale. "Yes. Rin's face here is a wonderful example of what happens when you're too eager to transfer Ki without a proper vessel or control."
It was funny watching him deflate at the comment. "I can do it now!" His mother snorts at his defensive statement. Honestly it was too much fun riling him up. Nodding with her arms crossed, the both of them could easily hear some light snickers.
"Yes yes, I know. You can summon it, but your actual shaping needs work, which is what you're going to be doing after your meditation exercise." Despite a few very careful grumbles under his breath he sits down to cross his legs.
His sword placed next to him, he closes his eyes and starts focusing on his breathing. "Meanwhile the rest of you are going to try feeling your Ki and get a nice colorful outline on your weapon. Suguro, Kamiki drop one of your weapons, when you can fully outline one, then you can try doing both."
Shiemi looked at her mace before tentatively raising her hand into the air. "Yes?" She nibbles her lip, avoiding Ming Xia's eyes as she asks her question. "H-how do we transfer our Ki?" It was a good question that was a bit tricky to answer.
"It's hard to explain. But...do you ever get that strange sensation of feeling off balance or feeling something stir within you when meditating?" The blond girl's eyes grow just a fraction bigger before nodding. Like Rin, Shiemi was one that actually took her words to heart and genuinely tried.
And now it would pay off for her. "That's actually your Ki. It's not a sentient thing, it has no voice or emotions, but it's a part of you. If you focus on what you want it to do after getting a feel of it, it will obey. Close your eyes Shiemi." It felt good getting a willing volunteer that wasn't Rin.
It made the research her and her husband did all those years ago all worth it as she guides the girl into unlocking her potential. "Breathe deeply Shiemi, in and out." Ming Xia counts silently to twenty, by then the girl is relaxed, in the perfect position to manipulate.
"Now that swirling feeling we mentioned before? Or that off balance feeling? I want you to imagine yourself pushing against it. Want it to move to your weapon. Empower the weapon and make it stronger, make it a part of you."
She watches as her student furrows her brows. Still deeply breathing in and out as she tries to set herself on accomplishing the task at hand. "Holy shit!" And unlike Kamiki...Shiemi had no problems delving into her feelings and imagination.
Honestly the fox fairy couldn't be prouder as she quietly tells the girl to open her eyes and look. "H-huh? Whoa!" There it was. A pink outline. "Pink represents comfort and innocence. You're a kind girl Shiemi...and your Ki confirms it." Just as soon as she said that, the girl's Ki disappears.
"Aww! Where'd it go?" Ming Xia chuckles, temporarily forgetting about her audience of students. Placing a hand on the girl's head. "You lost focus and aren't used to freely commanding it. Keep trying. Get used to to feeling it." That's three students now.
With two officially able to summon it at will without needing to be in actual danger. "Now then...Shiemi's got this down. It's time to get the rest of you to follow suit." Now the real challenge begins as the others weren't as open minded or...in tuned with themselves.
Kamiki despite her efforts of learning and wanting to know more is a prime example of struggling to connect with it. So different methods were needed. "Now I know meditation isn't for everyone, so we're going to try something new. Kamiki, it's your turn my dear."
Despite looking nervous, she still steps boldly forth with both of her claws. "What are we doing?" Her answer came in the form of a swift strike of her teacher's palm. One the purple haired girl was miraculously able to block.
"We're going to spar. You've got a good pair of eyes, able to actually see Ki when it's being used. You're going to fight and try to summon your Ki to defend against me. If you're able to properly able to summon it, hell I'll even let you counter." This was more so for her.
Izumo was able to use her Ki during the exam, in a desperate attempt to protect Paku and help Rin, but since then it's been uncooperative. She can see it, can feel it, but using it has been a completely different story.
So, Ming Xia was going to provoke a response from her with more aggression. "A-are you serious?" Force the younger girl to act and feel, not think and rationalize. That can come after her body has become in tuned with letting it move at her will.
"Yep. And don't worry. I'll be doing it with everyone else. Even if i'm just with you for the rest of class, I'll be sure the guys get their turn tomorrow." Even though she still looked nervous of the prospect of fighting a teacher, there was no denying the glint of excitement coursing through her gaze.
Whether it was at the idea of finally being able to manipulate Ki the way she wants to or to see Ming Xia mop the floor with the guys in her class the older woman couldn't be too sure. But regardless, no matter what Ming Xia was greatly amused and content. Humans were such a joy to be around.

Author Notes: I think this is going to be so much fun. Ming Xia is going to kick ass, and everyone is actually start taking her classes seriously. Nothing screams therapy like giving characters in my story a hard time.
But that is it for now my good friends. Thank you all for reading my story! If you like how it's going so far please feel free to fav/follow/review as it would mean a crap ton to me. I'll see you all next time, tchao for now!
