"What is that?" Alastor pointed at the white article of clothing I was holding.
"It's just a jacket. Mom says we're going out for dinner tonight." I shrugged it on, smoothing it out in the mirror. When I decided that it looked suitable, I started hunting for my hat.
"Are you going to fine here for awhile?" I asked the deer, who was sitting in his chair again.
"Who said I was staying here?"
"What!?" I dropped my hat from surprise, "You can't exactly walk around Alastor, look at yourself!"
"That's an easy fix." Alastor tapped his cane against the ground, and his appearance started to change.
His skin changed from the unnatural grey to a shade of someone from a mixed parentage, and his eyes shifted to a rather attractive shade of chocolaty brown. The red hair with black ends shortened, the ear tuffs disappearing into the rest of his hair, taking on a more natural looking brunette shade. His smile went from jagged, yellow teeth, to a pristine white. His suit even changed a bit, the ends of his jacket mending it's tears, and the protruding shoulders disappearing, giving him a more natural, human look.
"How do I look?" Alastor asked, not seeming to realize he'd taken my breath away, "Anthony, are you alright?" I snapped back to reality and rubbed my eyes.
"Y-Yes, I'm fine! You just look so different."
"Well I can't go out in public while I look like a demon."
"True, but what exactly are you planning to do?" Alastor chuckled at my question, like it should be obvious.
"I plan to watch your father tonight and try to collect information. If I can see how he behaves, it may help in the plot to end his life." Alastor let go of his cane, and it disappeared in a crack of radio static. He snapped and there was suddenly a monocle on his right eye, the lens tinted red.
"Okay, I guess that makes sense. You might attract attention though, not a lot of people just wear straight red suits."
"Oh..." Alastor looked down at his clothes, "I suppose that makes sense. Perhaps..." He trailed off and snapped again, his suit changing into a red dress shirt with a black vest, with a matching tie and pants. He suddenly had on a black pair of dress shoes that looked like they were made of some sort of leather. The whole piece only made Alastor look even more attractive.
"Uh- yeah, I guess that works-" I quickly turned my face away. I was still trying to get used to the fact that I was homosexual. I hadn't even come out to anyone except my sister, and I sure wasn't planning on the demon I had summoned to find out in such an embarrassing way.
"Are you sure you're alright?" Alastor asked again, placing a hand on my shoulder.
"Yes!" I quickly bent down and picked up my hat, turning to the mirror again to make sure it was sitting on my head right, "So you're just gonna sit in the restaurant and watch me and my family?"
"Your father mostly, and I'll try to sit close enough to hear any conversation."
"Good luck with that. You'll have to get past my dad's lackeys."
"That won't be a problem." Alastor spoke with a creepy smile playing across his face, thankfully helping to tone down his handsome features.
"Are you going to kill them, or something?" I asked quickly, preferring to know in advanced if any of the mafia henchmen were about to end up dead.
"I'll try to avoid it, but they might end up dead if worse comes to worse." Alastor shrugged, like he hadn't just admitted to there being possible murder. The action made me shiver a bit in fear. I really had summoned an insane, homicidal demon, or were all demons homicidal and crazy? I hoped to never find out.
"Okay then...we'll be leaving in soon, we're just waiting for Dad to get home." I started to walk to the door, but then a thought occurred to me, "Um...how are you going to get to the restaurant?"
"Don't you worry about that. Go on ahead now." Alastor turned away, waving me off. I shook off the feeling that he was holding something back from me and turned the handle, stepping out of the room and closing the door behind me. I walked down the stairs, still feeling like there was something the demon had refused to tell me, but I quickly put all thoughts of Alastor aside when I made it into the living room. Mama was sitting with Arthur and Molly, all three dressed up and ready to go.
"Oh Anthony hun, you look so handsome~" Mama cooed as she laid eyes on me.
"Thanks Mama, you look good too." It was the truth. Mama wore a blue dress with a low cut collar, and sleeves that went to her biceps. She was in her late forties, but her age only gave her a sort of timeless beauty that so few people can have. Her hair was a greying blonde, but the parts that were turning grey looked more like silver, and glittered in the bun Mama had put her hair up in. Mama's light blue eyes sparked with good humor and kindness. There was no point in denying it, Mama was absolutely breath taking.
"You're so sweet." Mama said, making sure her purse was at hand.
"He's right Mom." Molly spoke from her spot by Mama's side, wearing a pink, strapless dress with a low cut back. Her hair, the same shade of blonde as my own, was braided and fell down to the middle of her back.
I took a seat next to Arthur, who was in a plain grey suit with a yellow undershirt. Arthur wasn't much for dressing up, but would when Mama wanted him too. Although my brother's taste in fashion was just so...bland. It was so much like my father's that the only difference was how much bigger Dad was than Arthur. I on the other hand like to dress to stick out as much as Dad would allow. I was in mostly white, but my undershirt was pink. I knew Dad would be pissed to see one of his sons in pink, but I also knew that my asshole of a father wouldn't do anything when Mama was right there. He'd want her to have a good time tonight.
"So where's Pops?" Arthur asked, sitting up straight in his seat. Daddy's little lap dog was always loyal.
"He should be here any minute with the car." Mama said, checking the clock that hung over the front door. There was a a bit of doubt in her voice, and it made my chest hurt. There had been times when Dad let Mama down after promising that we'd all go out for the night. She didn't deserve that sort of treatment.
"He'll come, right?" Molly asked, trying to sound hopeful.
"Of course!" Mama insisted, a pained smile crossing her face. Seeing it made me grip the arm of my chair tightly. I hated seeing that look on my mother's face. She deserved so much more than that scum bag that was my father. What she saw in him was anyone's guess, but it didn't change how much he had let her down, how many special occasions he had missed, how many times she had needed him, and he hadn't been there for her.
It looked like this time Dad was going to pull through, because the sound of the car pulling up soon echoed through the room. There was a brief period of footsteps walking around outside, before one of my Dad's lackeys opened the door, and my father stepped inside. He looked around the room, smiling when he met my mother's eyes.
My father was a large man, and he had dark hair that was slicked back, revealing his dark eyes that seemed to only notice my mother. His skin was an olive shade, and his eyes were a dark black. He wore a grey suit damn near identical to Arthur's, but with a white undershirt instead of a yellow one. Mama embraced him, making her way across the room faster than my eyes could pick up, and he hugged her back, but he glared at me from over her shoulder, already noticing my pink undershirt.
"How was work today, my love?" Mama asked, stepping back and holding my father's hands.
"Just fine, nothing important happened today." That was the response he always gave her when she asked about work, and she always pretended to be satisfied with the answer.
"We're all ready to go when you are." Mama said, keeping her smile.
"Alright." My dad turned, looping my mother's arm into his own, "Come on kids, lets go." My siblings and I quickly followed behind our parents, passing the few henchmen my father had brought with him for protection while we were out on the town. Apparently anyone could attack while we were out, even though no one ever did. I had seen a police man literally turn around and walk away from us once while were entering a theater. I honestly didn't believe anyone would ever attack us.
As we got into the car, which was a sleek limo, Mama got in first, Dad right behind her. Arthur quickly followed behind him, like always. Molly turned to me, smiling, and I did my best to smile back. She was always so hopeful that our family outings would turn out amazing and fun, and I couldn't even try to convince her that the only reasons we did this was because Dad wanted to keep Mama happy. Molly climbed into the limo, and I followed in last. Upon sitting down, I felt my jaw drop, there was someone else in the limo with us, and there never had been before.
"Harry, who is this?" My mother asked, looking at my father with slight concern.
"Oh, we made a new business partner today. Lora, Kids, I want you to meet Alastor Evans. He's going to be having dinner with us tonight."
Alastor Evans stuck out his hand to my mother, grinning wide. Mama took his hand and he kissed it gently, rousing a chuckle from her. He repeated the action with my sister, than shook my brother's hand. He finally held his hand out to me, and it took me a moment to actually take it. Alastor shook it, grinning at me with the eyes of someone who had never seen me before.
"It's a pleasure to meet you all." Alastor said, giving me a quick wink that my father didn't seem to catch as he took his hand back, "I can't wait to share a lovely dinner with such kindly folk."
