Desmond looked down from the top of a rocky cliff, he sat in a dirt patch holding binoculars close to his eyes. Lynx looked over at him, noticing the color of his head. It was bright blue, reminded him of much of his ship's color. Right above his eyelid was a big divot, the size of his thumb. Desmond looked over to him, passing the binoculars over "I saw a swarm of fallen out in between those trees" he pointed in the direction as Lynx lifted the binoculars to his eyes and saw what he was talking about, a swarm of fallen bunching up by what appears to bee a crashed fallen ship. Desmond leaned into Lynx as he looked out to the fallen, "What was the language they speak again? Lynx lowered the binoculars and turned to him, "Elinski." Desmond leaned back, struck. "You sure answered that question quickly." Desmond chuckled, "How'd you learn that so quickly?" Lynx shrugged as he put the binoculars away and stood up, "I found a book on them a few days ago." Lynx started to walk then turned around after realizing Desmond hadn't followed him "You coming?" Lynx spoke. Desmond looked out at that fallen swarm then back at Lynx, "Yeah."
They arrived back at the rendezvous point, Lynx had a satchel strapped around his back holding everything they needed. 4 other people were sitting around the campfire, two a titan, a warlock, and hunter. And of course, Lynx and Desmond. So that in total making 2 of each class, all being Exo's. Although Lynx has gotten to know these people for a few weeks they feel like his family already, he was glad he took Luna's advice. He dropped the bag onto the table, drawing everyone's attention to him, "We've found the location of where these fallen congregate" He pointed at the map and slammed a knife on where he and Desmond saw the swarm. One of the titans spoke up, Jess. "Time to hit them where it hurts" she slammed her fist into the other hand and twisted, implying what she'd do to them. Lynx smirked and put his helmet on, "We leave at nightfall." Lynx seated himself next to Desmond, who looked over to him "Why are you so serious. All the time?" Lynx looked over to his right, where Desmond sat. "Oh, you want me to be like you and not give a fuck?" they both chuckled. Desmond nodded, "Fair."
Tre, the other warlock looked over to Marjolein, a hunter. "Since when did we let Lynx become the leader?" Marjolein shrugged "I mean, you don't see anyone else fighting for the top spot" Tre leaned into his hand which he places under his chin and looked over to Lynx, watching the way his dark blue head shined in the light, he observed it for the intricate details that were on it, such as dirt and gravel on some spots of his head, showing that he had not been able to get a proper wash. Marjolein looked over to Tre, "You seem... Jealous." Tre refocused his gaze back to her and he chuckled, "Me? Nah, I'm fine. I don't care too much about it" he stood up and grabbed his shotgun and rested it on his back that was held together with rope and leather. Marjolein grabbed Tre by his sides and looked up at him, eyes wide "Let's go somewhere... Private~" Tre tried to stay calm on the outside but the inside, he was fist-bumping himself. "Hey guys, we're gonna go on a little walk, we'll be back before night time." Mae felt like a much better and easier nickname to use than Marj, everyone believed. Lynx rested his elbows on his thighs, "Don't have too much fun." Desmond said as everybody else besides Lynx chuckled to themselves, "Oh, hardy-har-har!" Tre said mockingly as both Mae and Tre turned and walked away from the camp.
"I can't believe they're going to get laid in a forest." a titan said, her name is Wilhelmina. Her accent was Australian and she had the meanest punch, she wore pure opulence gear, she had an austringer slung across her holster. Another fact, she never takes her helmet off, for personal reasons. Although nobody's bothered to ask her, or at least survived to ask her. "Laid? What's that?" Lynx asked in a confused tone, and shortly after. Desmond broke out into full-blown laughter, Wilhelmina looked at him, "Jesus Christ Lynx, You need me to tell you about the birds and the bees too?" she jokingly yelled out, Lynx puts his hands up in defense and yelled out in response "No, it's just I've never heard that expression before!" Desmond still, caught up in a whirlwind of laughter started to put himself together, "Listen, it's just another word for this" Desmond said in increments of laughter, he stuck his two hands out and made one in the shape of a hole, and the other penetrating that hole. Lynx looked away in embarrassment, feeling overwhelmed with emotions. He put his hands up over his face and Desmond went back into laughing, Wilhelmina and Jess too.
Tre and Marjolein walked through the calm forest, the only things they could hear were their breaths and the leaves crunching under their boots, inside Tre was bursting with excitement looking around everywhere but not directly at Marjolein, because he was afraid it would reveal his emotions, and he needed to be cool. She looked up at him and he smiled, keeping his emotions in check. Even though it felt like his legs were going to buckle at any minute, she didn't notice, or so he thought. He looked up past the endless rows of trees and saw a perfect spot, the right amount of shade in this lukewarm fall day. They sat down, in the perfect spot as they could slowly watch as the sun was going down. They still had time though, she kissed him on the cheek, and they embraced.
Lynx sat there for a few minutes bathing in the humiliation, covering his hands with his face, "Ah come on man, we're joking" Desmond said leaning over to him, Lynx took a deep breath and removed his hands, "Yeah..." Lynx got up and turned around, "I'm gonna go uh... Scout ahead a little more" he turned around and headed off towards a small ravine that had a small lake running through it. He arrived at it and decided that he would follow it, out of curiosity. He walked across rocks, dead trees. His feet would sometimes slip on a rock and he would stumble as he tried hard to regain balance. His boots were drenched, so was his cloak but he didn't mind it too much. He stopped at the end of the lake when the cliff ended and the lake flowed into the river. He sat on a big rock and looked out towards the skyline, he smirked. Then he realized something, he held his hand out and twisted it so his palm was facing upwards and Luna popped out, "You've been quiet through this entire thing" he sarcastically pointed out, she looked up at Lynx and floated around him, "I was calculating the chance that this works successfully." Lynx's eyes locked on to hers "I haven't even told you yet, how'd you..." she interrupted him by disappearing into dust, he turned around and saw a fallen captain turning the corner and quickly ducked behind the rock, slowly pulling out his knife as he cursed himself for not bringing any weapons, he held the knife at the tip ready to throw it. He leaped up from the rock and was about to throw it when he stopped. He was frozen in place, he had such a wide arrange of emotions. The fallen captain was a female. A beautiful one at that he thought as he stood there, starstruck. The captain had not seen him as she was looking at the tall trees, and he ducked back into cover confused, and if Exo's could turn red from embarrassment, he would be as red as a tomato. He quieted himself and heard the distant cracks of branches being stepped on, he waited what felt like forever until he heard the cracks get farther away until they were non-existent. He got up from behind the rocks, shaking the dirt off himself. He still had no idea what overcame him, he's done it so many times before. But why not this one? He walked back to camp, while he and his ghost didn't speak a word.
By the time Tre and Marjolein got back, it was almost nightfall and no sign of Lynx. "Oh that's great" Tre responded when he was told this, "Anybody has a clue on where he went?" Desmond pointed down the ravine, Tre sighed, "I'll go find him." just as Tre started to walk down the hill he bumped into Lynx, he looked at him and yelled "Oh! Look who's here! And you all thought we'd be the ones late." Lynx tried to brush it off and put his thoughts beside him as he chuckled lightly, "Haha yeah, sorry about that" Lynx was pretty good at hiding his emotions, as most Exo's he knew was.
He pulled the map out and dusted it off, it was old but still pretty current with the area around here. He pointed at the big "x" on the map, "The idea is to flank them so all six of us will separate to the exit, and the front, the only two ways they can escape. Then we'll send a team in to flush them out, and we'll be able to take out any escaping." They all seemed to enjoy the idea, even Tre who generally has a distaste for his ideas could get behind it. "What if they go deeper?" Marjolein pointed out, Lynx shrugged "They don't really have any place to go but if they do, everyone will head inside and clear them out." They all agreed and headed out, loading their weapons with ammo. Lynx loaded his better devils and held it with his right hand, they all got their things together and headed down the cliff.
When they arrived they saw that there were multiple captains at the entrance, Lynx was about to leap up and fire but Desmond grabbed him by his shoulder, "Don't worry, I got this." he lept up high into the sky and shined bright blue, he pulled out a staff that shined with him and brought it to the ground, creating a ripple effect, knocking the captains over, he took the end of the staff and lodged it into another captain's abdomen stunning it and knocking them over and then Desmond finished him by stabbing into them with the arc energy. Then, in an instant. It was over as Desmond looked at the dead body's and what arc energy was left in his hand, he clapped and watched as the energy dissipated. He then looked up to where everyone else was and pulled his gun out "C'mon!" he yelled as he ran into the abandoned building, flying down the stairs. Lynx sighed, as he ran down the hill "We didn't even get to say who was going in." he grumbled, Tre, Jess, and Marjolein ran down the stairs joining in the ongoing war. Lynx could hear the distant shots and the hollering, he looked to his right where Wilhelmina stood next to him, "I'll cover the back entrance. Watch your back." he spoke as he turned and ran around the building, she sighed. "I always get stuck with the most boring job."
Inside the building all you could see were flashes of colors, Tre pulled out his Dawnblade and wreaked havoc on the fallen that were scattered. Marjolein saw this and used her Nightstalker to trap them all together in one big group making it easier to pick them off. Jess, on the other hand, took a more direct approach to it by shoulder charging a vandal through a wall, breaking it, and exposing more. Jess cracked her knuckles and stretched her neck before leaping at them with her fist of havoc leaving seismic holes in the ground, causing the building to shake and vibrate. Lynx was at the exit standing, waiting. He felt the ground vibrate under his boots, he looked down and heard a loud crash, causing him to look back at the building right as he saw it collapse on itself. He jumped out of the way right as he saw a large piece of debris fall in the position he once stood, "Holy shit..." he saw the remnants of what was a building most likely used by many reduced to rubble in mere seconds. He then realized that 4 people were still down there, he yelled out their names and panicked. Minutes later of walking around in a panicked manner, he heard the sound of someone digging through the debris, all four of them popped out, laughing, acting like they haven't just knocked down a building. Lynx helped them get out of the debris. They all high-fived each other. Lynx stood by and watched, Desmond looked over "So how was guarding out here?" Lynx smiled "Ah you know, it was pretty exciting, had to fight through a few captains-" "It was so fucking boring" Wilhelmina walked over to them, looking at Desmond. All three of them laughed, Desmond grabbed Lynx by his shoulder and turned him around, he whispered "So... I see you were with Wilhelmina." he smirked, Lynx looked confused for a second then he realized what he had said and got defensive, "No, nothing happened between us." Desmond smacked him on the back, almost knocking him over "I see the way you look at her." Lynx looked at Wilhelmina who was talking with Tre and Jess, and then back to Desmond. "In what ways am I looking at her?" he asked in a confused tone, Desmond chuckled, "C'mon man... The way you look at her when she walks by, I can tell... Anyway, I'm going to go back to the tower, I'll let that stir in your head for a while." he gave Lynx one last pat before bringing his ship in and flying away. He looked at Desmond confusedly, having no idea what he meant. Lynx watched as everyone said their goodbyes and flew off. He watched as the last ship struck orbit.
Lynx stood straight, gun strapped to his holster. He turned around and pulled out his ghost to tell Commander Zavala the good news, he couldn't see the expression Zavala made but he knew he was happy, "Good work Guardian, when you return to the tower I will have a new operation." he then disconnected and it returned to silence, left in his thoughts.
