"Anthony sweety, you've hardly touched your breakfast." Mama noted as I pushed scrambled eggs around my plate. Molly, Arthur, and Dad were all out today. Dad and Arthur were out doing something for business, Molly had went to spend the day with her friends. Mom had a book club with the neighborhood ladies today, which would mean I'd be alone in the house...well not entirely alone. The truth was I'd intentionally wanted to have everyone gone today so Alastor and I could work on our plan...unfortunately murder can make you not want to eat very much.
"Just not very hungry, Mama."
"Are you feeling sick? I can stay home and take care of you." Though I knew my mother was just trying to look after me, I couldn't stop myself from feeling a bit annoyed.
"I'm alright Mama, go have fun with your book club." I did my best to put on a smile she'd take as reassuring. How did that demon keep a smile on his face all the time?
"Well...if you're sure..." Mama smiled back and grabbed her purse, "I'll be back later, hun. Behave you're self now."
"I will, Mama!" I kept that smile and waved her out the door, feeling a pang of guilt over how I'd just lied to my mother. No soon than the door was shut did I find Alastor sitting next to me at the table, casually sitting with his chin propped up on his hands.
"Finally, I don't have to stay in locked up." Alastor sighed in annoyance, casually looking around, "Not a bad home you have here, Anthony. Your mother has quite the eye for decorating."
"Uh- Thanks I guess..." I wasn't quite sure why the demon I summoned felt the need to compliment my house.
"So," Alastor got up and stretched his legs, walking into the living room and looking at the photos Mama kept on the mantelpiece, "You said you had an opportunity for us to kill your father."
I quickly dumped my food in the trash, my dishes in the sink, and joined him in the room, "Yeah uh- once in awhile, my dad hosts a party with all the big crime bosses in the city. Its supposed to be a way of showing that we're all on good terms, but it's really just his way of reminding everyone which crime family is on top of the others.
"A show of power...your father does seem the type to do so..." Alastor stopped to study one photo that was a family portrait, "Why is the only one smiling in this photo your mother?"
"Because Mama is the only one of us who actually tries to make up feel like we're in an actual family." I said a bit quietly as I sat on an armchair with my legs dangling over the side. Alastor seemed to here ne though, since he nodded along to what I was saying.
"I see, so she wants to make things feel normal in a sense."
"Yeah, but it's hard to feel normal when you're dad runs the Italian Mafia."
"I can understand why you felt that way." Alastor turned to look at me, "Now, about this party. When is the next your father plans to host?"
"It'll be in a few days, so not long."
"Plenty of time to figure out how to get him alone." Alastor said with a smile, before he sat in the chair opposite of mine, "Although...I have to wonder...how will your family react to his death?"
"Huh?" I sat up, the demon's statement catching me off guard.
"You hate your father, but what about the rest of your family? Your mother and sister seem to love him, and your brother adores him."
"They want to love him, but they all know deep down that he's a bastard who only gives a shit about himself and his business. Arthur's being trained to take over when he steps down, yeah, but he's only training Arthur because he knows he can brainwash Arthur into a version of himself. Arthur doesn't see it because he's so eager to please him." I could feel anger starting to grow in the pit of my stomach as I thought about how Arthur had been taken from me and my sister, how he hardly ever spoke to us like he was our brother anymore. The three of us used to be incredibly close, and a part of me believe that my father knew this, and that's why he kept Arthur so busy with learning how to take over when he was dead.
"Don't you think it will hurt them when he's dead?"
"We're all better off without him. Besides, why do you care?"
"I don't." Alastor stated simply, "I'm only curious about your intentions. It's quite entertaining to see the lengths people go to to snuff out the life of someone they hate."
I didn't respond to that, feeling like if I tried to say anything, I'd only piss him off, considering how my blood felt like it was boiling, "So..." I tried desperately to switch the conversation, "Are ya gonna pull your little disguise trick to get into the party?"
"Perhaps." Alastor shrugged, "I have many ways I could enter the party. Honestly Anthony, I could kill your father at any time, but you wanted to make his death...special so to speak." Alastor's eyes glimmered with amused mischief, "Though I do admire the work you're putting into this."
I rolled my eyes, "So I don't gotta worry about you getting into the party?"
"No, all you have to do is get your father alone." Alastor crossed his legs and looked at me with a look that could kill if he wanted it to.
"Alright- good." I gulped and looked away from him, "As long as we know what we're doing."
"Have you figured out how you'll pay me for all this work?" Alastor suddenly asked, and this time I was left with a cold feeling in my chest. I had to get a soul for this guy after he killed my dad...I may have to kill someone...I hadn't actually thought about it until now.
"That's for me to know and you to find out." I blurted out before I could stop myself, earning a chuckle from Alastor.
"Fair enough my dear Anthony, fair enough. Just keep something in mind." Alastor was suddenly right in front of me in the blink of an eye, leaning over me with those red eyes starring into mine. He titled my chin up with one finger, his other hand resting on the arm rest of the chair. The demon was intimidating as those glowing eyes pierced into my very soul...but damn I'd be lying if I didn't say having a kinda hot guy standing over me like this wasn't attractive.
"I don't like waiting, so you better make sure your payment is on time," The finger on my chin moved, and his hand gently grabbed my throat, and I had a flash of fear thinking that he'd kill me right then and there, "Otherwise...I'll make sure I get to have more of that blood of yours before I claim that tainted soul that lies within you.
And before I could respond with even a dumbass remark, the asshole disappeared into the shadows of the room.
