When they are beamed up to the station, Kira is unsurprised to discover that Lwaxana is what's been happening.

Focused on her imminent reunion with Odo, Kira hadn't paid too much attention to the station as she'd passed through on her way to the planet, but it had struck her as being fairly unremarkable. Now, however, it is probably the most distinctive space station anyone has ever seen.

As Kira looks round in growing dismay, a Vorta she doesn't recognise steps forward and bows obsequiously to Odo.

"Founder, we are honoured by your presence. Your wife informed me that you wished to have the station repainted. I trust that our work meets with your approval?"

"It's certainly… bright," Odo acknowledges, his tone of voice decidedly uncertain.

Lwaxana beams at him. "It is, isn't it? This charming young man," she indicates the Vorta, "organised a whole squadron of Jem'Hadar to get all this decorating done before you arrived."

While Lwaxana seems entirely satisfied with the results, the rather less enthusiastic nature of Odo's response has not been lost upon the anxious Vorta.

"Founder, if the Jem'Hadar have made an error—"

"No, no, not at all," Odo hastens to say. "It's very… nice. Colourful."

The Vorta seems overjoyed to receive even this hesitant praise, and Odo looks helplessly at Kira, who shrugs.

"I'll get used to it," she murmurs to him, squeezing his hand in reassurance. "Probably."
