Tan was driving back from the hospital. He was fighting the urge to flick the siren on just to get back to HQ a couple of minute earlier. He'd spent ages trying to track down the security guard who had gone on a break and by the time he had found him and they had put two and two together he had wasted a lot of time.
Street had gone too far this time. Going after Chris by himself; he didn't know whether to be furious or terrified. He kept flipping between the two. He had most likely got himself killed, if not Chris as well. Chris didn't know who he was, she wasn't going to protect him. What was he thinking? Tan knew he wasn't, he never did when it came to Chris. They were too close. In the past he had wondered, more than once, whether there was more between the pair; but the one thing he was sure about was that Chris would never have been with Ty and Kira if there was something going on between the pair. He hadn't really thought about it since the thruple had dissolved, but he had never been given a reason why it ended, and never brought up the subject with Chris.
Tan arrived at HQ. He had been so desperate to get here, now found himself unable to get out of the car. He was about to end street's career, cause all sorts of problems for him, the team would never be the same again. He had to be the barer of bad news. But he just had to think of Chris and Street's lives not Street's career.
'He went after her,' he jumped straight into the bad news the second he crossed the threshold to the OPs room. All work stopped as they turned to face him. 'He got a plate number of a van.'
'God dam it,' Hondo brought his fist down on the table.
'What's the plate?' Luca was ready. Tan presented him with a USB stick.
'The security guard at the hospital searched the CCTV and found them leaving in a white van. Street chased down the plate. He has at least a four hour head start on us.' Tan ran them through the situation.
'What's he thinking?' Deacon ran his hand through his hair.
'He wasn't. He hasn't learnt anything,' Hondo vented. So much had changed since he woke up this morning. It had been hard enough holding this team together yesterday when Chris was gone. Now he had two of them out there to worry about, and to try and round up. Her behaviour earlier was troubling. He had seen the fear on her face when he pointed the gun at her. She had no idea who he was, and it hurt him to see her so afraid of him. He doubted whether the Chris he knew was capable of that level of fear. She had never shown it before. It was a strange expression to see across her features.
As if Chris's resurrection wasn't enough to deal with the kid had just added to that ten fold. The most frustrating thing was that he thought he had gotten through to him. That he had grown up, but this stunt; he sighed, this was probably the end of his career and there was very little Hondo would be able to do about it.
'Plate's stollen, but it's had lots of hits over the last week. Mostly in this area,' Luca pulled up the map to show the areas where the van had been caught on CCTV. There was a hot spot, where the van had hit multiple cameras on multiple occasions.
'Lets roll out,' Hondo instructed and they quickly found themselves in black betty cruising the hot spot. Hondo was in the front seat with Luca. He never sat in the front, but today wasn't a usual day. It was his job to hype up the team. Today he couldn't manage that. Too many emotions were in play here. He loved his SWAT family and with two of them in the lions den, one of them probably a lion, it was too much, even for Hondo.
It was dark now, the street lights and head lights making their search more difficult.
'Thats's Street's bike,' Luca pointed to the bike parked neatly between two cars.
'Vans got to be around here somewhere,' Hondo felt the tension in him rise. He needed to get his family home safely, but it could already be too late for that. Street had been here at least four hours. The chance of finding him alive and well was slim.
'White van two o'clock. Too dark to see the plate,' Tan had barely finished talking before Luca had pulled black betty to a stop.
'We have no idea what we are walking into. Chris may not come quietly,' Hondo was reminded of her making a dash for Benz in the hospital. They would be luck if she wasn't actively working against them. 'Fill the gaps, stay liquid.' The others joined in, but with two voices missing it didn't pack the same punch.
The nights air was cool on the busy streets. They headed back towards the van in single file. They stopped at the entrance to the alley. All was quiet. Hondo hand signalled the instructions before peeking around the wall to get a look into the alley. The van was pulled to the end and was seemingly alone in the alley with some rubbish over flowing the bins.
'Plate matches,' Hondo informed his team quietly before leading them forwards. They stepped over the trash and brushed past the van arriving at the rusty metal door. 'Tan,' Tan stepped forwards immediately pulling the door open. Hondo and Deac stepped through guns raised, ready for anything.
