Chapter 9 – Rescuing Draco

A second later, they were standing in the Flamel kitchen, just as they had been twenty years ago. Nicolas and Perenelle blinked and then looked at them with wide eyes. Harry winced momentarily as a flood of new thoughts overwhelmed him. He could hear Nicolas, Perenelle and Narcissa as always but there was someone else. Someone he was only peripherally aware of. It was as if the thoughts were attached to his own by a long endlessly winding string - Voldemort. As soon as Harry had realized that the Horcrux in his scar was the reason for his link with Voldemort he started learning how to control it, how to manipulate it to his advantage, the way Voldemort had done to him the day Sirius died. He wanted to ensure that he would be able to hear Voldemort's thoughts as if they were his own no matter how far apart they were. He could also talk to him, but he wasn't quite ready to play that card yet. Harry felt a mixed sense of relief and trepidation wash over him as he realized it had worked. He could hear Perenelle talking so focused on what she was saying and pushed aside the onslaught of thoughts for now.

"Oh my, what a handsome young man you have become," said Perenelle. "And you grew your hair out, I see?"

"Ah, yes, apparently Cissy has a thing for long hair." Said Harry. Narcissa blushed deeply.

"Does she?" said Perenelle with a knowing smirk as she turned her gaze to Narcissa.

"And you Narcissa, as young and beautiful as ever," said Perenelle with a wink. Then she conjured four cups of tea and sat down at the table eagerly. "So, tell us everything."

"Dobby, Winky why don't you go back to the cabin," said Harry.

"Yes, Harry, sir," they said in unison as they left with a pop. Harry and Narcissa sat down across from Nicolas and Perenelle at the table. Narcissa started to tell them all that had happened when a flash of angry fire swept over Harry's features.

'Voldemort is talking to Lucius'

'Go, you won't miss anything you don't already know.' Harry nodded and stood.

"Excuse me, I'm going to use the bathroom. I'll be back in a moment. I'm sure Narcissa will have only gotten through the first week by the time I return," said Harry with a cheeky smile. Narcissa slapped him playfully on the arm, but he could see the worry just behind her eyes. He went into the bathroom and sat down on the toilet, focusing all of his energy onto Voldemort's thoughts.

'Oh, Lucius what a disappointment he has ended up being. Apparently, I should have recruited Narcissa instead. She somehow managed to steal the Potter boy right out from under Dumbledore's nose. Lucius, on the other hand, doesn't seem to know his arse from his elbow.'

"My lord, I have not had any luck locating the boy or my wife..."

'Because you've spent more time in the pub than actually looking you stupid fool.' Voldemort sighed. 'Hopefully Draco will prove to be more useful.'

"We will gather tomorrow. I expect your son to be there to take his mark."

"Yes my lord, thank you, my lord."

Harry opened his eyes and sighed. 'And here I was hoping for a few days to get settled before we jumped in. You'd think I'd know better than that by now.' Harry chuckled as he walked back to the table and sat down next to Narcissa, gently taking her hand and interlacing their fingers under the table. Narcissa squeezed his hand while she continued to tell the Flamels about their time in Albion.

"You had a daughter?" said Perenelle in excitement.

"Yes, her name is Ella. She is nineteen now. She decided to stay in Albion as the village healer. She has had a happy life there and is now starting a family of her own. She did not wish to leave."

"Oh," said Perenelle sounding disappointed. "I would have very much liked to have met her."

"Don't worry Perenelle I took lots of pictures for you," said Narcissa with a smile. Perenelle squealed with delight as Narcissa conjured a large photo album and handed it over to Perenelle. As Perenelle and Nicolas looked through the pictures of Ella growing up, Narcissa looked over at Harry with one perfectly manicured eyebrow raised.

'Draco is meant to take his mark tomorrow, so I will drop you off at Grimmauld place so you can check up on Kreacher, and reset the wards and Fidelus charm and then I will go get him.'

'Thank you Harry.'

'I would do anything you asked of me Narcissa, you should know that by now.' Narcissa gave him a chaste, soft kiss and then turned back to her tea.

o – o – o – o – o

The next morning, Harry and Narcissa woke up before the sun and got ready for the day. They enjoyed breakfast with the Flamels, and then gave them each a big hug before leaving for Grimmauld Place. They apparated to an alleyway near where they had caught a cab that day so long ago and walked towards the house. As they got closer, they looked around for anyone still standing guard or trying to find it. The street seemed deserted, but it was hard to tell in the darkness, so they donned the invisibility cloak again just in case. As they walked, Harry thought back to the first time they had done this and how fast his heart had raced as her body rubbed against his. He was overjoyed that the sensation of her so close still made him feel the same way. Although his thoughts were significantly dirtier, then they had been then.

When they got into Grimmauld Place Harry immediately pushed Narcissa against the door and kissed her passionately as he took a breast in his hand.

'Do you remember the first time we used that cloak together?' Narcissa moaned as she thrust her body into him.

'Yes, I do. It was very enduring how careful you were not to touch me inappropriately. I noticed you didn't have any such reservations this time.' Harry chuckled into her neck. Just as he was about to remove her dress, he was forced to pull away at the sound of Walburga clearing her throat.

"Welcome home, dears." Said Mrs. Black. It took a moment for Narcissa to compose herself but then she thanked her aunt and called for Kreacher while she straightened her dress.

"We will be moving back in for the foreseeable future Kreacher. I would like to inspect your work before I decide if we will keep you," said Narcissa sternly. Harry chuckled at Kreacher's anxious look. He knew Narcissa had every intention of keeping him.

"Of course, Lady Black. Kreacher has returned Grimmauld Place to its former glory, you will see," said Kreacher. Narcissa nodded and gave Harry a chaste but meaningful kiss.

"I'll be here waiting for your safe return," she said as she followed Kreacher to inspect the rest of the house.

Harry put the invisibility cloak back on and walked out of the house. When he was past the wards, he apparated to Malfoy Manor. He looked up at the imposing building with a sigh as he whispered the charms to ensure he wouldn't be seen, heard, or smelt by Nagini or anyone else for that matter. The sun was just beginning to peak over the horizon as he walked to the entrance of Malfoy Manor, he pulled on Voldemort's magic enough to mask his own magical signature as he snuck inside. He searched the house until he found a previously unused lounge that had been turned into a makeshift throne room. He assumed this is where the action would be, so he cast a cushioning charm and sat on the floor and waited. He watched as a few hours later the death eaters began to file into the room. When it was filled, except a small circle around the throne, Voldemort apparated directly in front of the seat and then sat down. Harry rolled his eyes as everyone bowed and then took a step back, clearly hoping to avoid being in his line of sight.

"Malfoy!" Voldemort bellowed. Harry watched Lucius limp towards the throne, his left eye twitching slightly from the nerve damage of being tortured one too many times. A pale, but determined looking Draco followed behind him. Harry could hear him thinking about not letting his hands shake.

"We are here for young Malfoy to take his mark," said Voldemort to the gathered crowd as they reached him. The death eaters cheered. Harry assumed this was probably his best opportunity, so he removed the cloak, stored it in the pocket of his robes, and apparated directly behind Draco.

"Is this like a wedding?" asked Harry loudly, his voice carrying easily across the room and gaining everyone's attention. "Will there a part in your speech where you ask if there are any objections?" The death eaters gasped in unison and began to draw their wands, but Harry flicked his hand and they all clattered to the stone floor and stuck there. Voldemort looked at him in surprise for a moment a brief flash of recognition moving through his eyes before he schooled his features.

"So you have not disappeared after all?" He said with a sneer.

"Well I suppose it depends on your definition of disappeared. I have certainly been on quite the adventure. Do I not look different from the last we met Tom?" asked Harry. Then he let his magic flare and swirl around the room. It took only seconds for the room to fill with agonized screams as the majority of the death eaters fell to the floor in excruciating pain. Harry threw Lucius and Voldemort against the wall and then hit them with an extra strong sticking charm for good measure. Draco and about twenty others were still standing. Draco looked a bit green like he was trying to keep himself from throwing up, but that was it.

'I can work with that.'

"Potter?" Said Draco in disbelief, still trying to get his wand off the floor.

"Draco," Harry responded not taking his eyes off Voldemort.

"But how- why are you so- why are you are here?" said Draco.

"Your mother sent me," said Harry with a shrug.

"My mother? So, she did kidnap you?" Harry raised his eyebrows at this but didn't respond. 'They think Narcissa kidnapped me? Well that should be an entertaining story.'

Harry looked around at the other death eaters that were standing. Some of them looked a little ill like Draco, but most of them had neutral but shocked expressions on their faces. Harry blinked and then sent his thoughts into the minds of those standing.

'My name is Lord Harry Potter-Black-Emrys.' It took everything Harry had to not wince, he hated using his title. 'I know that the dark mark but must be taken willingly, but I also know that my friend Tom here likes to use fear and intimidation to get what he wants, so I would not be surprised if he threatened your family and loved ones or killed them if that was easier. If you wish freedom from Voldemort, I will give you one chance to walk away. If you don't take this chance, know that I will not spare you when we meet again. I can offer you and your family sanctuary and protection and can remove your dark mark. If you want to take my offer simply step forward and shake my hand.' Harry smiled and stuck his hand out into the empty space in front of him. He was surprised when no one hesitated, each man stepping forward and shaking his hand. As they did so, Harry scanned their minds. Satisfied with what he saw he called for Winky and Dobby. Every once in a while, he flared his magic to keep the other death eaters on the floor.

"Can you take my new friends to Grimmauld Place and set up appropriate accommodations among the spare rooms. Oh, and please and apologize to Narcissa for the unexpected visitors," requested Harry. Both house elves nodded and began taking the men two at a time. When they were all gone, Harry turned his attention to Voldemort. He walked towards him, looking very much like a predator stalking his prey.

"Don't worry Tom, I won't kill you, at least not today," said Harry as he drew closer. When he reached him, he touched the center of his forehead with his finger, the way Voldemort had done to him that night in the graveyard. Harry pushed his magic into him just enough to put him on the brink of passing out. "I don't really want to have to deal with killing you more than once, so I'll just have to keep an eye on you for now, and come back for you once I've destroyed all the other pieces of your soul." Voldemort's eyes widened in a look that very much appeared to be fear.

"Yes Tom, I know about your soul containers and luckily for you I need your mind intact to find them all. How many did you make? … Ah six, how ambitious of you Tom. Want to save me time and tell me where they all are? …..No? Well, you will, all you have to do is think about them and I will know. At some point you won't be able to resist," said Harry. He could hear the panic in Voldemort's thoughts and shifted to speaking through their link. 'You thought you were the only one aware of the link between us? I'm not surprised, you always did underestimate me. I would start getting your affairs in order Tom, your time is coming. STUPEFY.'

"As for you," he said as he turned to Lucius, who was in so much pain he wasn't even fighting against the sticking charm. "I have no qualms with killing you, but first we need to have a little chat," said Harry. He looked into Lucius' eyes and watched all of his memories since the day he married Narcissa, every insult, every hit, every affair, every task for Voldemort. When the memories stopped, Harry was filled with so much rage that he released a burst of magic strong enough to make the walls of the manor shake as they absorbed the energy. Harry waved his hand and threw Lucius into the opposite wall where he crumbled to the floor in a heap.

"I can't let you kill him, Potter." He heard Draco snarl behind him. He turned around to see Draco on his knees staring up at him, his hands shaking slightly as he kept trying to pick his wand up off the floor. Harry twitched a finger and the sticking charm released allowing Draco to pick up his wand.

"Did you know Draco? All these years, did you know what he did to your mother?" asked Harry in a dangerous whisper. Draco at least had the decency to pale at Harry's question.

"Why do you care so much about my mother?" You've never even talked to her," responded Draco.

"Your mother is the most important thing in this world to me. She is the only reason I am allowing you to stand there with a wand pointed at me," said Harry calmly. He listened to Draco's thoughts for a moment and then sighed when he realized talking would get them nowhere. There was too much distrust there.

"Very well, you don't trust me, we'll let your mother decide his fate then," said Harry casually as he stared at Draco.

'Narcissa.'

'Harry? How are you speaking to me from so far away?'

'A perk of our link love, I've been waiting to surprise you with it.'

'I'm not sure how you still have so many surprises after all these years.'

'You love my surprises.'

'I do… what's going on Harry?'

'Can you apparate to me? Draco and I are having another one of our misunderstandings.' A second late Narcissa was standing there with an amused smirk on her face, her eyes going comically wide as she looked around at the carnage at Harry's feet, Lucius in a heap on the floor at the other side of the room and Voldemort stuck to the wall behind Harry.

"Thanks for the house guests, dear," said Narcissa.

"I know you love to entertain," said Harry with a smirk.

"Mother? What is going on here?" asked Draco in a panicked whisper.

"Draco!" said Narcissa as she ran to her son's side and hugged him tightly.

"My lovely wife is here to repay Lucius for his thoughtful care of her all those years," said Harry.

"I am?" said Narcissa as she pulled away from Draco.

"Wife? What are you saying Potter?" asked Draco, but Harry ignored him and sent an innervate at Lucius causing him to gasp. The three of them watched as Lucius stumbled to his feet and glared at Harry menacingly while he wiped blood from his nose.

"I will kill you Potter," spat Lucius, but Harry ignored him and gestured to Narcissa to draw her wand.

"Stay out of this Draco. You have been taught how to duel I presume Lucius," Harry yelled across the room. First, you must bow to your opponent…. Come, the niceties must be observed, Voldemort would want you to show manners." Lucius still refused to move.

"I said bow, Lucius," said Harry firmly and then he pointed his finger at Lucius and forced him into a bow.

"That's better. My dear?" He said gesturing to Lucius and moving out of the way. "Don't you think it is time to repay him for all he has done." Narcissa's eyes burned with fire as she pulled on Harry's magic.

"CRUCIO," yelled Lucius pointing his wand at Harry. Harry waved his hand and a stone wall appeared. Narcissa let out an enraged scream and began to fire curses at Lucius that he was barely able to dodge or shield. It wasn't a long fight as Lucius was already so weak, and with Harry's magical help, Narcissa was three times more powerful. It didn't matter that it was over in a matter of minutes, seeing the fear in his eyes as they dueled was all Narcissa needed. She could finally feel the last of the scars he'd left on her mind heal. She had won, more than he could ever imagine, she had won. When she had him backed into a corner she stopped and then she walked over and kneed him in the balls with a satisfied smirk before she walked over to Draco.

"Come Draco, we have much to discuss," she said as she reached out her hand. Draco was staring at his mother in shock. Harry was a bit concerned for him, he looked like he was moments away from an aneurysm.

"You're just going to let Potter do what ever he wants to him?" seethed Draco.

"I trust him," Narcissa said simply.

"Mother- how could you –," but he was interrupted by another wave of nausea as Harry flared his magic. Narcissa shivered in delight.

"Draco," said Harry in a dangerous whisper. "I suggest you go with Narcissa unless you want to see what happens when Voldemort wakes up and you are the only one left standing." Draco gulped but didn't move.

"Draco, please," pleaded Narcissa. "I promise I will explain everything. You will be safe, trust me." After a moment, Draco seemed to make up his mind and took his mother's hand. Narcissa sighed in relief and gave Harry a gentle smile before they were gone. Harry walked over to Lucius who was still moaning on the floor with his hands between his legs.

"I can never forgive you for the suffering and despair you caused her. The Druid spent twenty years teaching me diplomacy and how to cool my temper. They instilled in me the importance of staying calm, being patient and biding my time, and using every method of persuasion available to me before I resort to violence. Luckily for you, I refuse to be like your master, to kill simply because I can. The darkness can be overwhelming sometimes, but Narcissa is my light, she gives me a reason to fight it so I must thank you for giving me such a precious gift," said Harry as he stood over Lucius. Harry closed his eyes and reached out for Lucius' magic. He drew out the long red tendrils and then put them into a large vial he had conjured before putting just enough back in to keep Lucius alive. Harry had read that squibs were not non-magical beings, rather they simply had too little magic to use, but the magic was still there. It was why they could have magical children or grandchildren, or what appear to be muggle born witches and wizards popping up generations later. In the moment, Harry thought this would be a fitting end for Lucius, he would spend the rest of his life as a squib.

"Come Lucy, we should get you to a hospital. You look in bad shape," said Harry as he picked him up off the floor. Then Harry blinked and apparated away. After dropping Lucius off at a muggle hospital in Spain, Harry returned to Grimmauld Place. When he walked through the front door, he saw Draco and Narcissa embracing in a room filled with confused onlookers. Narcissa looked up at Harry with tears in her eyes and then she surprised everyone by walking over and pulling Harry in for a deep, passionate kiss. Draco was stunned, he had never seen his mother act like this before.

"Thank you love," said Narcissa as she pulled away.

"We've already had this conversation Narcissa, you don't need to thank me. Although the kiss is always appreciated," responded Harry. She smiled at him and then gave him one more chaste kiss before she went back to Draco. 'Lucius?'

'Will never bother anyone again I imagine.' Narcissa raised her eyebrows in astonishment.

'You didn't kill him?'

'We'll talk about it later.' Narcissa nodded.

"Potter, what is going on here? Why are you making out with my mother? You keep saying wife? Are you really married? How is that possible? I thought you were still married to father?..." started Draco, asking questions in rapid succession. Harry lost track of his questions after the first couple.

"Draco, calm down," said Narcissa as she put her hand on his arm gently. "I promise I will answer all your questions, but it will be easier if you ask them one at a time, perhaps over tea?" Draco looked back and forth between his mother and Harry hesitantly, but then he let out a deep exhale and nodded.

"You should explain things to him Narcissa. I will get our guests sorted for the evening, and then I will need to go to Gringotts, it can't wait. When I return, I will join you," said Harry.

"Very well, dear," said Narcissa with a smile as she led Draco out of the room. Harry looked around at the gathered misfits of ex-death eaters. They were all looking at him in a mix of fear and awe, anxiety clear on their faces.

"You will stay here tonight. Tomorrow I will remove your marks and make preparations to bring your families here as well. After that you will have a chance to gather your possessions and then I will get you and your families somewhere secure to remain until it is safe for you to return to your homes. I need to go make the arrangements with Gringotts so for now, please eat and relax. Winky and Dobby will show you to the spare rooms they have set up when you are ready. It will be a tight fit, but it is only for tonight," explained Harry. Everyone nodded and then after a quick look to Dobby and Winky Harry was gone.

o – o – o – o – o

When Harry walked into Gringotts, he quickly went to the closest available teller.

"What do you want wizard?" sneered the goblin, not even bothering to look up from the gems he was weighing.

"I am Lord Emrys. I require a meeting with King Ragnuk immediately," said Harry firmly. The teller smirked down his long nose at Harry.

"No wizard requests a meeting with King Ragnuk," he responded with a snicker.

"I do. Will you tell him I am here or shall I go speak with another teller," replied Harry. The goblin tapped his finger and a small basin appeared.

"Do you have the house ring?" asked the goblin. Harry showed his hand. The goblin seemed disappointed to see he actually did.

"Three drops of blood please," said the goblin. Harry cut his finger with a thought and placed the drops into the basin as requested. The drops of blood swirled into the liquid and then the whole bowl briefly flashed a bright gold colour. The goblin looked at Harry in shock. Just then an ornate set of double doors opened, and a small army of goblins walked in.

"Lord Emrys, it is a pleasure to have you among us again. I am Scarclaw, the Emrys account manager. King Ragnuk will see you now," said the lead goblin. All the patrons stopped what they were doing and looked around at the declaration that Lord Emrys was there. A hush filled the bank as all eyes fell on him, goblin and wizard alike wanting a good look at the handsome Lord.

"Thank you, Master Scarclaw," said Harry with a slight bow. "May our business today be profitable for us both and may gold continue to flow to you freely." Scarclaw returned the bow while the others looked on in shock, no one believing that most powerful wizard in the world would bow to a goblin.

Harry followed the goblin army to King Ragnuk's personal office. Harry was not surprised to see it looked exactly the same as it had in Merlin's time. 'We really are stuck in our ways, all of us.'

Harry stood near the door and waited for Ragnuk to enter the room, knowing it would be rude to sit down before being invited to do so. When the door opened and a large goblin in full warrior regalia entered Harry bent into a deep bow.

"King Ragnuk. It is an honour to be in your presence. Thank you for seeing me," said Harry.

"Lord Emrys," he said returning the bow. "My predecessor signed an alliance with Merlin to support his heir when you were revealed. We will acknowledge that alliance. The goblin nation is at your service, honoured friend."

"I appreciate that King Ragnuk, head of the goblin nation. Shall you require it, I offer you my magic and my blade. May gold continue to flow for you and may your nation flourish," responded Harry.

"Have a seat Lord Emrys, what is it I can do for you?" said Ragnuk as he took the other seat behind the desk. Harry waved his hand and a stack of papers appeared on the desk as he sat down.

"I need to purchase these three properties," he said as he handed Ragnuk three sheets of parchment from the stack.

"Okay and when do you need them purchased?" asked Ragnuk.

"Now would be great," said Harry nonchalantly. "I will have people moving into them as soon as I receive word from you that they are ready." Ragnuk laughed and it was not a very pleasant sound, but Harry kept his face neutral.

"Very well, it will be done today. Anything else Lord Emrys?"

"I would also like to buy these properties," he said as he pushed the rest of the stack towards Ragnuk. "But they do not need to be purchased today. A week or so is fine. I would also like to set up a meeting with you for two days' time to claim my titles for House Potter and House Black and complete a blood adoption for the person I plan to name as my heir. I will also need to visit all three vaults at that time as there are some things I need to collect."

"We will be prepared for you to come back. Anytime is fine," said Ragnuk. Harry nodded.

"Then that is all for now," responded Harry.

"I will send an owl when the properties have been purchased Lord Emrys." After another bow to Ragnuk, Harry took his leave and was escorted back to the atrium. Once outside the bank, he apparated back to Grimmauld Place.

He found the lounge empty, so he went to search for Narcissa and Draco. He found them in the kitchen, deep in conversation. Draco had an incredulous look on his face while he listened to Narcissa's explanation. Harry walked over and leaned down to kiss Narcissa gently on the forehead before he sat down next to her.

"Has your mother explained everything to you Draco?" asked Harry.

"You married my mother twenty years ago, but it's only been a month for me because you've been training in an alternate universe," summarized Draco. Harry laughed.

"Yes, that about sums it up?" responded Harry as he took Narcissa's hand.

"And I have a half-sister that is three years older than me?" said Draco in disbelief.

"Yes," replied Harry.

"Her story sounds crazy, but mother has never lied to me," said Draco. He narrowed his eyes and looked at Harry closely. "You do look about twenty years older, and you are much more powerful than you were before. Did you kill my father?"

"I did not," answered Harry.

"Why not?" Harry sighed.

"I may put little value in the things Dumbledore has told me over the years, now that I know more about who he really is, but he once said to me, "it is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities," said Harry. "I could have killed him, but that is not the person I want to become." Narcissa squeezed his hand.

"What happens now?" asked Draco.

"That depends on you I suppose," responded Harry. Draco glared at him.

"You have two options Draco. You let your mother convince you to be adopted into the Potter-Black family or you take what is left of your father's fortune and you venture off on your own. Personally, I think you should choose the second option," said Harry.

"Harry," warned Narcissa. Harry sighed heavily. He was still angry that Draco never stood up his for mother.

"I think before this goes any further Draco and I need to have a little chat. Narcissa please give us a moment," said Harry. Narcissa hesitated. Harry leaned over and gave her a soft kiss.

'I won't hurt him. There are just some things I need to understand.' Narcissa nodded and left the room.

"Why didn't you protect her Draco?" asked Harry, not wasting any time.

"What's it to you Potter?" sneered Draco. Harry glanced over at him with a dangerous look and Draco paled. Harry searched his mind, watching as a young Draco hid in the closet while Lucius yelled at his mother, as an older Draco listened to her screams and cries upstairs but was too scared to do anything. He watched as a boy grew up, longing for his father's approval, to be enough. He watched as Narcissa begged a teenage Draco to not intervene as he cleaned blood from Narcissa's lip after Lucius left the house in a drunk stupor. Harry pulled out of Draco's mind and sighed.

"You may not understand it Draco, but I would give my life for your mother if it ensured her happiness. I only want to know that you will protect her just as fiercely as I will if you are going to join the family," replied Harry.

"You really love her?"

"I do." It was silent for a moment while Draco thought about his answer.

"I was scared when I was younger. As I got older the risk became too high. If I intervened, he would see me as weak, and it was worse for us both," Draco whispered, refusing to meet Harry's eyes.

"I know," said Harry.

"So what is it mother wants me to do?" asked Draco, changing the subject.

"She wants me to blood adopt you. If you accept you will become my heir. You will inherit the fortune of both House Potter and House Black," explained Harry.

"What about Emrys?" asked Draco.

"The Emrys name is not passed down the traditional way and will remain with your mother and I for – well at least way past your lifetime," answered Harry. Draco nodded but Harry could tell he was a little disappointed.

'Being Lord Emrys would make me a god, but I could do a lot with both the Potter and Black titles.' Harry laughed.

"With great power comes great sacrifice Draco, being Lord Emrys is not all it is cracked up to be," responded Harry. Draco's eyes widened as he realized what just happened.

"You can read my thoughts," stated Draco.

"Yes, and so can your mother so be careful," replied Harry. Draco paled at the idea of his mother being able to read his thoughts.

'You can come back in love.' Seconds later Narcissa walked in looking back and forth between the two of them nervously.

"What happens to the name of Malfoy if I agree to the adoption?" asked Draco as Narcissa came to sit back down.

"I think it would be best if the name of Malfoy die with Lucius," said Narcissa softly. Draco nodded sadly.

"What happens in a blood adoption exactly?" asked Draco.

"Well, since Narcissa is already your biological mother, magic will just remove any physical traits you gained from Lucius and replace them with my own," explained Harry.

"So I'll look like you?" said Draco in concern. Harry laughed.

"Your mother doesn't seem to mind the way I look too much, so it can't be that bad, but honestly? Maybe. It's hard to know for sure. You have Narcissa's eyes and basic facial features so those things won't change, but your hair might darken, or you may get my cheekbones, or bony knees, things like that," said Harry.

"If I agree, how much control will you have over me?" asked Draco.

"Legally and financially, entire control, at least for the next year until you come of age. But honestly Draco, I have no desire to control your life. I have many of my own matters to attend to, I don't have the time to worry about what you are doing. I plan on leaving your care in Narcissa's capable hands. You will have access to a very generous trust fund, until you take over the titles. When you marry, you will get your choice of Potter or Black properties and the amount put into the trust fund each month will double.

"And when will I take over the titles?"

"When your first heir is born. Narcissa assures me that you will be prepared for the responsibility when the time comes. I may not have that much faith in you, but I trust her."

"Will my marriage be arranged then? That is the customary way, is it not?" asked Draco dejectedly.

"That will be up to your mother. We are in need of some alliances in the Wizengamot and marriage contracts can be a great way to get them," said Harry. "If you have someone you are particularly fond of, I'm sure your mother will try her best to accommodate you." Draco blushed.

"Astoria? Really? Why didn't you tell me, Draco?" asked Narcissa affronted.

"Erm, it's sort of new?" replied Draco.

"Um-Hmm."

"If you decide to do the adoption, you can talk to your mother about it then. If you want a betrothal agreement to be put in place with House Greengrass, then I also strongly suggest you have a conversation with Astoria. If you become my heir, you will be responsible for continuing both the Potter and the Black lines. It will be expected for you to take two wives. She will need to be comfortable with that." Draco nodded then he turned to his mother.

"Are you happy mother? Does he - you know - take care of you?" asked Draco with a blush.

"I'm happier than I have ever been," Narcissa responded. Draco nodded again.

"Can I think about it?" Draco asked.

"Of course. It is a big decision. We have an appointment with Gringotts in two days, so if you've reached a decision by then we will do the adoption then, if not we will simply do it another time, if that is what you decide of course," said Harry. They sat in silence for a time until Narcissa stood up.

"I'll show you to your room Draco, you can get settled in and then join everyone for dinner," said Narcissa. Draco nodded. Narcissa quickly showed him to the room she had decorated to look exactly like his room at Malfoy Manor and then returned to the kitchen. She wasted no time, in pulling Harry into a deep, passionate kiss as she pushed him out the doorway and led him up the stairs to their own room.

A few hours later, Draco was standing in the hallway looking slightly nauseous as he listened to sound of his mother's giggles and moans of pleasure coming from the master bedroom. When the noises stopped, he squared his shoulders and walked towards the door. He knocked loudly and waited for someone to answer. To his shock his mother opened the door covered in nothing but a sheet. Her hair was mused, her cheeks flushed, and lips bruised red from kissing. Draco was extremely embarrassed, but he noticed that she had the biggest smile he had ever seen and for the first time ever she looked entirely content.

"I'll do it," he said. Narcissa's smile widened.

"That's great, dear. Let me get dressed and I'll meet you downstairs. We can talk about Astoria," she replied with a wink. She delicately shut the door and then Draco heard a soft yelp from the other side and then more moans. He quickly went downstairs, not wanting to hear any more. A half an hour later, his mother joined him.

"I never saw you like that with father," said Draco as she walked into the kitchen. Narcissa blushed deeply as she took a seat.

"Draco, I stopped sharing a bed with your father the day you were born," replied Narcissa as she summoned Kreacher for tea.

"This is crazy? You know that?" said Draco.

"Yes, I am aware," responded Narcissa, but she couldn't hide her smile.

"I'm glad you are happy mother, you deserve better than the way father treated you," said Draco shyly.

"Thank you, Draco. Now tell me about Astoria," pressed Narcissa.

After a late and rowdy dinner, Harry and Narcissa fell into bed in exhaustion and quickly drifted off to sleep both subconsciously moving towards each other until they were tightly wrapped up in each other's embrace.
