Ok here it is, my reboot of my previous story Steven Universe: Dawn of the Dragon.

I'm sad to see it end, but it wasn't picking up as much ground as I had hoped. But fear not for those that have read it, Meldar will return. For anyone new, you'll meet him soon enough.

I've also gave the reboot a different title in order to fit the new story.

This was made possible thanks to collaboration with Gabeherndon308.

Anyways, let's get to the story where Gems and Dragons collide! WOO!

I don't own anything except for the oc and the oc dragon.

...

Let me tell you a tale. A tale of when man lived in ancient times. The times of ancient civilization.

It was during these times where some cultures had never met yet. It was during these times where mankind told stories of creatures straight out many myths and legends in the modern world. From the Loch Ness monster, to ghosts that haunt abandoned ruins. From the fearsome Minotaur, to the deadly hydra.

But there is one creature in particular that resides in many cultures across the globe. A creature that they knew was very real. This is the time when man encountered a creature considered to be figment of our imagination. This was when mankind coexisted with an impossible creature only told in folklore, myths, legends, and fairytales.

But I can assure you, these creatures were no myth. But they were indeed legendary.

This is the tale of when man lived side by side with creatures that ruled the land, air, and sea. Creatures known to many as... the Dragons.

Yes. Dragons once existed alongside man during ancient times. For it was the dragons that taught them how to forge with metal for its many purposes. For it was the dragons that taught mankind wisdom. For it was the dragons that gave man inspiration to explore the world. For it was the dragons that taught humans how to wield magic!

It was also the dragons that fought alongside mankind when they raged war with beings... from beyond the stars.

...

Earth, thousands of years ago...

Alien beings from the stars, called Gems, had discovered the planet known as earth. But these beings weren't exactly here for peaceful purposes.

Their empire is ruled by gems called diamonds. They're known as the diamond authority. One way to describe their leadership is that... they're a bunch of strict intergalactic tyrants. Enough said.

Well, that's the case with three of the diamonds at least.

You're probably wondering as to why they're here. Remember when it was mentioned that they're not here for peaceful purposes? Well, that's because they're here to drain the earth of its resources to expand their empire.

You see, each diamond rules over a certain number of planets, or colonies as they call them once said planet was claimed. They use the organic life and natural resources of the planet they're colonizing to create more Gems and materials for the Gem empire.

The reason why is anyone's guess.

Anyways, only three of the diamonds have multiple colonies while the fourth diamond, the smallest diamond, has none. Which is why the Gem empire is here today. To claim this planet for the one known as Pink diamond.

But just as soon as Pink diamond began to colonize, a complication arose...

...

Sometime later (not sure exactly how long)...

Running through an unexplored canyon was a group of gems known as a rebel group called the crystal gems. The leader of the group, known as Rose Quartz, led her team down this canyon in order to evade their enemy, dubbed as homeworld gems. Basically gens that fought for their empire and not the rebellion.

What's the rebellion you may ask? The rebellion was first started a quartz gem saw the beauty of the organic life on planet, and sought to protect it. She even shattered her own diamond order to do so.

The rebellion first started out with just her and an ownerless pearl to drive away homeworld gems from the planet. But that changed when they met a fusion of two completely different gems, named Garnet. The pink and blue cotton candied Gem inspired Rose to not only protect the life on this planet, but to also make it a place where gems could be themselves without the diamonds ruling over them.

The three were spying on a homeworld base camp when they overheard the gens talking about organic creatures destroying Gem injectors, their machines, and crushing their gemstones to shards. One of the odd descriptions was that some of them could breathe fire.

But unfortunately, they couldn't stay to listen longer, because they were spotted by soldiers, and had to flee the scene.

Rose, Garnet, and Pearl had managed to gain distance between them and the homeworld soldiers, but they could hear them still chasing after them. Slowly but surely, they were gaining on them.

"They're still coming!" Pearl exclaimed out of fear as she ran.

"We gotta lose them somewhere!" Garnet stated.

Rose quickly looked around the canyon walls for anywhere to lose the soldiers. She then spotted what looked like a cave of some kind.

"There! We can try that cave!" Rose pointed out.

The trio ran towards the cave at the base of the canyon wall. Fortunately, luck was on their side, and the cave went further down. Rose and Garnet grabbed a large boulder, and pulled it over the mouth of the cave. It didn't cover the whole mouth, but at least three fourths of it. Meaning it left a narrow opening on the side for them to see and hear.

They could hear the soldiers quickly approach their location.

"I think they went over- huh?"

"Where did they go?!"

"They couldn't have jumped up the walls. We'd see them trying to escape that way."

"Look! Their tracks!"

"They lead right over to-"

Just like that, they knew they had been caught. The trio walked back deeper into the cave, only to hit the cave wall.

But the wall felt... odd.

Instead of a hard rocky surface, it felt hard yet smooth. Much like the skin of those organic creatures with the four legs and tail, or the ones with no limbs and a flickering tongue.

When they listened closely, they could hear a low grumbling sound with a rhythm. Like slow paced breathing. Something that organic creatures do when they're...

...

... Uh oh...

The soldiers shattered the Boulder with ease, and entered the cave. The trio drew out their weapons immediately to defend themselves.

"Nowhere to run now, traitors!" One of the quartz soldiers spoke in a gruff feminine voice.

"You can either surrender right here and now, or we can just SHATTER you all on the spot! So what's it going to- what the?"

The quartz soldier ceased her malevolent ranting once she saw something move behind the crystal gems.

Behind them, something moved in the darkness of the cave. It only confirmed what the trio were thinking...

... Something is in the cave with them.

A large glowing green eye with a slit pupil opened up within the dark, and focused on the cave's new occupants. It stared down upon the trio in front of it. Whatever the eye belonged to, it could sense no malice from them. But when it focused on the group of homeworld soldiers, it could sense a lot of malice within them.

The eye narrowed, and all of the gems could hear a growling sound almost vibrate the cave.

The eye moved to the side to reveal the second eye of whatever creature was in the cave with them.

The pair of glowing eyes were narrowed in what appeared to be anger, and that anger was directed at the homeworld soldiers.

The creature suddenly let out a loud bellowing roar that shook the cave like a tremor. All the gems in the cave were startled out of their bodies when the creature unleashed that roar within the cave.

But then, more pairs of glowing eyes appeared in the darkness, followed by animal groans and growls.

"Who dares to disturb us?" The owner of the green eyes demanded, his voice boomed within the cave.

"Uh-"

Rose was about to speak, but got interrupted.

"Not you three. THEM!" The voice boomed.

The leading quartz soldier, the one threatening to shatter the trio, glanced back, then back at the creature with the green eyes.

"Us?" She asked.

"Yes, you. Who are you, and where did you come from?" The creature demanded.

"We don't take orders from the likes of you." The quartz spat.

"I'm not asking." The creature warned.

"We only answer to our superiors, beast, and the way I see it, you're in the presence of superior beings." The quartz smirked maliciously, the other quartz soldiers chuckling.

But that ceased the moment the creature began to chuckle. Then it slowly began to turn into a full on maniacal laughing fit, which was followed by several sets of laughter. The creature ceased his laughter, which was followed by the rest ceasing their laughter.

"Superior beings? You? HA! How high is your head up your ass, fool? Because the way I see it..." five green claws glowed in the dark, and snapped in the air.

Suddenly, the whole cave lit up with crystals within the cave, and... the cave was much bigger than any of the gems thought.

The bright crystals gave enough illumination to reveal the creature, and the other beings with it. What stood before them, shocked them to their very cores.

Dragons. Dragons of all kinds.

The one that was talking to them, and the owner of the green eyes, is a large black dragon with an elongated serpentine eastern dragon body. The dragon has four legs with five talon-like claws on each limb, two pairs of springbok horns adorned the back of his head, a single row of spikes went down from his neck to his tail, and at the end of his tail were spikes, making it appear as a spiked whip. His underside is a silver grey, his claws, spikes, horns, and eyes are an emerald green, while the tiger stripes on his body are a lighter shade of green.

Unlike the black and green dragon, the others appeared to be the western dragon type. Some had a pair of wings with two legs, some had a pair of wings with four legs, and some had four legs and no wings.

"... You're in the dragon's den, and you. Are. TRESPASSING." The black dragon boomed.

"Who... who are you?" Rose asked the dragon, taking a chance by speaking to him.

The dragon turned his attention onto Rose Quartz, and answered her in a tone that sounded like addressing someone you consider an ally.

"Meldar, the mighty. King of the Dragons."

...

From that day onward, a new alliance formed, and history has been written upon the stone.

But it was only just the beginning...

Steven Universe: Dragonborn Rising.

...

And done! Ok, that only took me two days to make. That's honestly a record for me. My updates are pretty random and inconsistent.

For the next chapter, it takes place in the first episode "Gem Glow," where I'll be introducing you to a new oc and a new dragon.

It's also worth mentioning that since this is Steven Universe, expect some musical numbers. Some from the show, and some will be songs I like.

Anyways, I'll see you guys next time, and if you'll excuse me, I have a Raging Ralph chapter to write.
