Chapter 12

Monica gripped Chandler's hand as they waited with bated breath for the doctor to tell them the results. Terry and Adalee sat behind them and held their breaths as well as the doctor seemed to take forever to tell them the results.

"The results were what I expected after I heard all your symptoms," the doctor started. "Monica, you are in fact pregnant."

They didn't listen to much else after that. Monica broke down and Chandler tried to comfort her as best he could while Terry accepted all the information that the doctor had given them.

After they left the clinic, Adalee went back to her house while Terry drove Monica and Chandler back to their house. As soon as they walked inside, they retreated to the den couch as Terry sat at the kitchen counter and went through all the information that the doctor had given them.

"I can't believe this," Monica mumbled as she sat with her knees pulled up to her chest with her arms wrapped around them.

"I meant what I said," Chandler held her. "I won't leave. I'll help you as much as I can. We'll do all of this together."

"I know," she looked at him. "It's just-so much is going to change."

"You're right, it will." Terry came into them. "But we can talk about that later. Your friends just got home from school."

"Monica? Chandler?" Joey and Phoebe rushed through the front door and spotted them all in the den. "What happened? Are you?"

"Go ahead and tell them." Terry told them.

"She's pregnant," Chandler told them. "How'd you get home?"

"Carol dropped us off," Joey told him. "She went back to the school with Ross to get Monica's car for her."

"Oh god, we have to tell Ross today don't we?" Chandler looked at Monica and she nodded.

"He'd know if we tried to lie to him," she said softly.

"They're back," Phoebe saw two cars pull up and Ross and Carol approached the front door.

"Here we go," Monica mumbled as they both came inside.

"Are you guys ok?" Ross came into them followed by Carol. "I heard the nurse on the phone with Terry when he called Chandler off as well."

"I took them to the clinic a while ago," Terry told him.

"Why?"

"You need to sit down," Terry looked at Ross. "We have some big news."

"What's going on?" Ross saw everyone sharing knowing looks. "There's something else going on. And you all know about it."

"Do you want me to tell him?" Terry looked at Monica and Chandler.

"No," Monica said softly. "He should hear it from us."

"Hear what?" Ross demanded.

"Just calm down and let them talk." Carol told him.

"Ross, I know you're going to be really mad when you hear this," Chandler looked at him. "But-"

"I'm pregnant," Monica blurted out and waited for the explosion.

"What?!" Ross jumped up and looked at everyone. "That's why you were sick this morning? It wasn't a stomach bug?"

"No, it was morning sickness." Monica mumbled.

"So you guys have slept together then?"

"That's usually how it works,"

"I can't believe this," Ross mumbled.

"Look you can kill me if you want to," Chandler looked at him. "But I just want you to know that I will stand by her. She won't be alone with this. I promise."

"I'm glad," Ross started. "But what are you going to do?"

"That is for them to figure out together," Terry told them all. "Once everything has fully sunk into them."

"So what happens now?" Monica asked softly.

"We need to let your parents know," he sighed. "And tell Charles."

"How am I even going to tell mom and dad?" Monica spoke up. "They already don't like you. Once they find this out-"

"I'll be there when you tell them," Chandler told her.

"They'll never let you through the door." Ross told him. "But I'll be there for you. I promise."

"I'll be there too." Carol told her.

"So then we have to tell dad." Chandler sighed.

"He will be upset for sure," Terry told him. "But I think I know how we can tell him. We'll need Pastor Dan's help though."

"I don't have practice tomorrow," Chandler said. "The coach has an out-of-town engagement. We can meet at the church after school?"

"You two go after school. I'll meet you there with your dad later. I'll tell him we have a meeting."

"So we're telling them tomorrow," Monica sighed.

"How will I be able to act normally around dad?" Chandler collapsed back against the couch.

"The good news is you probably won't see him until tomorrow afternoon. He has inventory to do at the club all night, so he'll most likely get home after you're all in bed and he'll probably sleep late tomorrow."

"I guess that's good." Chandler sighed

"I wish I was as lucky," Monica sighed. "Mom and dad will probably be waiting for us when we get home tonight."

"I'll cover you," Ross told her.

"Thank you," she said softly.

"That's what brothers are for," he looked at her and she smiled at him.

Monica and Ross stayed for supper at Chandler's; although Monica barely ate anything since her stomach was still acting up. Terry made her up some clear broth so she had some food in her stomach and she seemed to keep it down.

They both left after they helped clean up and walked into their house to find their parents waiting for them.

"There you are," Jack stood up and looked at Monica. "We got a message from the school nurse that you were sick. Are you ok?"

"Yeah," she said softly. "It was just food poisoning. Terry took care of me all day."

"They tried calling your cells, but you didn't answer." Ross told them.

"I'm just going to get some sleep," Monica started upstairs. "I should be better by morning."

Monica went upstairs and turned on her radio as she rushed into the bathroom to cover up the sound. She just hoped that she could get through tonight and tomorrow until she planned to tell her parents her big news. There was a knock on the door and she sighed.

"Monica, it's me." She heard Ross and reached up to open the door.

"Do you think they heard me just now?" she looked at him.

"Well I didn't." he told her. "Are you ok?"

"Apparently this is normal." She informed him. "Thank you for not killing Chandler earlier."

"It wasn't easy."

"It's not only his fault. And before you even go there, he didn't pressure me into it. We both agreed that we were ready. At least, we thought we were."

"I'm not sure what's going to happen tomorrow, but I will always have your back. I promise you."

"Thank you," she rinsed her mouth out and they walked out of her bathroom. "I'm going to try to sleep now."

"I'll see you in the morning," Ross walked out of her room and she climbed into bed.

Tomorrow would be a stressful day for sure; she just hoped that they would be able to handle it all together.

Chandler sat at his desk after he finished getting ready to turn in for the night. He was skimming through the lists of websites on the computer screen when there was a knock at his door and Terry peeked his head into the room.

"It's almost time for lights out," he told him.

"I know," he mumbled as he clicked on a link then exited out of it.

"What are you doing?" he came into the room.

"Normally my answer would be that I'm looking up music videos on YouTube," he looked back at him.

"What are you looking up now?"

"Any kind of services that I can find to help me and Monica."

"Ok. Turning this off." Terry reached around and pushed the power button on the desktop. "You need to try to put his out of your head for the night."

"How am I supposed to do that?"

"I'm not sure," Terry sighed as Chandler got off the desk chair and collapsed onto his bed. "But no matter what everyone's reactions are tomorrow, I will always be on your side no matter what."

"Even if it means going against my dad?" Chandler looked over at him.

"Especially then."

"Thank you," Chandler sighed.

"You should try to get some sleep."

"You're right." Chandler told him as Terry walked out and he turned out the light and tried to get some sleep.

Monica managed to make it through the next day at school without anyone getting suspicious. The others always covered for her whenever she was seen fleeing from the group. She just needed to get through that day and hopefully things would get better.

After school, Monica and Chandler drove to the church to meet with Pastor Dan to talk to him about their situation. He didn't judge them; just listened while they expressed their fears about what their futures held now. They finally stopped talking as it got closer to the time that Terry was meeting them there with Charles.

"This is not the end of the world for you guys," Pastor Dan told them.

"But what are we supposed to do?"

"It's not going to be easy no matter what you decide to do," he handed them some pamphlets. "We have a group that meets on Wednesdays. I think you two should check it out. It's a support group meeting for kids going through the same things that you are, and they help each other."

Chandler took the information from him as there was a light knock on the door. Chandler and Monica started shaking when he saw that it was Terry with his dad. Pastor Dan invited them in and Monica clutched Chandler's hand tightly.

"Chandler? Monica?" Charles spotted them. "What are you doing here?"

"Terry called this meeting," Pastor Dan explained. "Chandler has some news to tell you, and they thought it'd be better if they told you here."

"What's this about?" Charles asked as he and Terry sat across from Chandler and Monica.

"Let the kids talk," Terry told him. "Go ahead, you guys."

"Dad, remember when we talked about what happened on vacation?" Chandler started. "What me and Monica did while everyone was on their date night?"

"Yes," Charles said slowly.

"Well, there's been a repercussion-"

"I'm pregnant." Monica spoke up.

"What?" Charles looked at them. "This is a joke right?"

"I wish," Monica mumbled.

"I have been talking with them for the last hour or so," Pastor Dan spoke up. "This church offers many services that can help them…."

Chandler arrived home after the meeting at the church. His dads stayed behind to talk some more with Pastor Dan as he left to drop Monica at home. He immediately walked past Joey and Phoebe in the den and went straight up to his room. A few minutes later, there was a soft knock on the door.

"Chandler?" Phoebe slowly opened the door as she and Joey came in.

"How'd it go?" Joey asked as they sat at the end of the bed.

"Not good," Chandler sighed. "My dad couldn't even look at me towards the end of the meeting."

"So what's going to happen?"

"With me and my dad, I'm not sure." Chandler told them. "But Pastor Dan told us about some services that might be willing to help me and Monica."

"So where's Monica?" Phoebe asked.

"I dropped her off at her house," he looked at them. "She plans on telling her parents after dinner."

"How do you think that will go?"

"It's hard to say," Chandler took his phone out. "But I think we better keep our phones on all night just in case."

"I hope it goes better than what you guys think it will."

"I wouldn't count on it," Chandler mumbled.
