Chapter 18

Monica shifted on the bed and realized that she was alone. She slowly sat up and saw Chandler's side a rumpled mess. She climbed out of bed and went in search of him, finding him in the kitchen. She smiled at him as he looked up from the stove.

"Hey," he smiled at her. "How'd you sleep?"

"Good, I think." She sat at the counter and watched him take a couple plates from the overhead cabinet. "What are you doing?"

"Well I thought I'd make you breakfast," he told her. "I know your stomach has been jumpy, so you don't have to eat if you're not up to it."

"I'm fine right now," she told him. "I'll probably regret it later, but right now I'm starving."

"Then here we are," he brought their plates over. "Nothing fancy, just eggs, bacon, and toast."

"It looks good," she smiled at him.

"So what do you want to do today?" Chandler asked. "All the tourist spots are still open."

"I'm not sure,"

"We'll do something fun before we leave."

After they were done eating, they cleaned up the kitchen and got ready for a day in town. They started walking along the shore as Chandler's phone started ringing.

"Is it your dads?" she asked him.

"No, it's my boss." He clicked it on. "Hello? Yeah. Ok. I'm out of town right now, but I'm sure I can be back by tonight. All right. See you tonight."

"So we're leaving early?" she asked him as he hung up his phone.

"He wants to train me on closings tonight." he looked at her. "I'll call my dad so he can change the flight plans. I guess this isn't going to be much of a honeymoon."

"It's fine," she told him. "Maybe we can have one later on."

They decided to spend a couple hours at one of the theme parks and head back to the house to pack up and head to the airport.

Joey and Phoebe were in Monica's temporary bedroom, trying to make it look like her and Chandler's permanent bedroom. They were going to rearrange Chandler's bedroom, but there were too many gadgets. So they just decided to leave it as is and turn the guest room that Monica had been staying in into their bedroom. It worked out because there was a smaller guest room right next to it that Charles and Terry said they would use for the baby when it was born.

"How's it going in here?" Terry came in.

"Slowly," Joey told him. "We need something to hang on the walls."

"I know!" Phoebe went to the laptop on the desk and opened it to Monica's social media page. "This picture of them at the Spring Fling last year. Their first official date."

"That's still on my memory card," Terry told them. "I'll print it off and find a frame for it."

"I just got a call from Chandler," Charles came in. "His boss called him. He wants him to go in tonight at close so that he can show him the closing procedures before he does it on his own."

"So when will they be back?"

"Late this afternoon. I already changed their flight plans."

"We need to hurry up and finish this," Joey told them and they all went back to working.

Chandler looked over at Monica as the pilot announced that they would be landing soon. She sleepily looked over at him as he smiled at her.

"Hey sleepyhead,"

"Did I sleep the whole time?"

"Pretty much," the plane landed and they gathered their carry-ons and followed everyone off the plane.

They stopped to grab the rest of their things from baggage claim before heading out to the parking lot and locating Chandler's car.

"You know that you're going to have to get a different car before the baby comes." She told him.

"I know. I just want to hang onto this a little longer."

"Just get a new one by the time we bring the baby home from the hospital."

"Got it," he pulled into their driveway and shut off the car. "Question, where are we sleeping? My room or yours?"

"I'm not sure," they grabbed their things from the back of the car and headed inside.

"We're home!" Chandler announced and they smiled when they saw Joey coming downstairs.

"How was the honeymoon?" he smirked at them.

"Wasn't much of a honeymoon," Monica told him. "But we were able to make it into town for a couple hours."

"We have a surprise for you guys upstairs, come on."

"Ok," they slowly followed him up the stairs, past all their rooms and into the room where Monica had been staying.

"Welcome to your guys' new room," Joey opened the door before them and led them in.

"You guys did this in less than a day?" Monica asked.

"Pretty much," Phoebe told them. "We didn't unpack any of your wedding gifts or anything. We figured you would rearrange it anyway."

"All your things are still in your old room son," Charles told him. "It's been turned into a game room now, by the way. There are too many gadgets to move in here."

"Thanks," Chandler smiled at all of them.

"We'll let you get settled in and rest up from the flight."

The others left the newlyweds alone as they set their things down and looked around.

"I can't believe they did this for us," Chandler stated.

"We have a great family," Monica smiled at him.

"That we do," he lay back on the bed and she did the same. "So are you going to rearrange it now?"

"Only if you help me."

"How about after we take a nap?" he asked.

"Agreed," they both got comfortable and drifted off to sleep.

Ten o'clock that night found Monica still rearranging the room as Chandler got ready to go into work for a couple of hours. He had tried to help her, but everytime he attempted to move anything or made a suggestion, she dismissed him so he just left her alone to arrange it how she wanted to.

Chandler came out of the bathroom and saw Phoebe laying on the bed as Monica organized all their clothes in both the dresser and the closet.

"You don't have to do all that in one night," Chandler told her.

"I need it to be organized," she told him.

"They say you don't truly know a person until you take a peek in their underwear drawer." Phoebe called from the bed. "So what's in your underwear drawer, Bing?"

"Underwear," he told her as he pulled on his work shirt.

"I think we'll find out each others' secrets soon enough," Monica sat on the bed beside Phoebe as Chandler grabbed his keys.

"I'll be back," he told them.

"Good luck!" Phoebe called as he walked out of the room and downstairs. "Ok, so how was the honeymoon really?"

"It wasn't much of a honeymoon with less than a day to celebrate," Monica told her. "But he made us breakfast this morning and we walked along the beach."

"It's going to be weird thinking of you two as married."

"Imagine being the one married," she looked at her.

"So how do you think school will be tomorrow?"

"I think it will be fine. I mean, no one knows anything yet." Monica looked at her. "We need to make an appointment with the ob-gyn soon."

"It is so weird that there's a baby growing inside of you. This sort of thing doesn't happen to anyone our age."

"I know," Monica sighed. "It's all a little overwhelming."

"Let's not think about it right now then," Phoebe stood up. "Let's go watch some movies with Joey."

"You got it," Monica followed her downstairs and they joined Joey who was watching TV with Charles and Terry.

Chandler walked out of his work at eleven and made his way back home. He was so exhausted from the plane trip, unpacking and trying to organize his new bedroom, and having to go into work at closing time to get trained up.

He pulled up the driveway and saw that almost all the lights were out; except for the one, meaning that his dad and Terry had waited up for him. He slowly walked into the house and saw movement coming from the den couch.

"I'm home now, you guys can go to bed now."

"How was it?" Terry asked as he and Charles got up from the couch.

"It was fine," he mumbled. "I'll tell you about it later. I'm tired and I'm assuming that I still have school tomorrow."

"See you in the morning," Charles called as he and Terry started back towards their bedroom.

Chandler walked into his new room and spotted Monica fast asleep on one side of the bed. The bedside lamp was on as one of her text books was resting on her chest. He went into the bathroom and came back out in a pair of sweats and a t-shirt. He silently climbed onto the other side of the bed, carefully removing the book from Monica as he did so.

"Hey," she mumbled as her eyes slowly opened.

"Sorry, I didn't want to wake you." He told her.

"How was your manager training?"

"There is so much to know, it's a little overwhelming."

"I'm sure you'll be fine by the time you have to do it on your own," she told him. "You always manage."

"I hope you're right." He sighed.

"We're supposed to sit down with your dads tomorrow after we get home," she told him. "We need to talk through some things with them."

"I expected as much," he sighed as he turned out the light. "But first we need to get through school."

"I don't think anyone suspects yet," she told him. "Just a few more weeks left before everything explodes."

"We go through it together," he told her as they both slowly drifted off to sleep, both dreading the weeks to come.
