Chapter 19

Chandler and Monica awoke when they heard the alarm go off. They slowly sat up and looked at each other before climbing out of bed and starting to get ready for the day ahead. They took turns using the shower and getting dressed and ready to go.

They made their way down the stairs a little while later and walked into the kitchen where they found the others. Minus Charles, who had already left for work. Joey and Phoebe were sitting at the table eating some breakfast as Terry was going through some papers at the counter.

"How'd you guys sleep?" Terry looked up at them when he heard them shuffling in.

"Fine," Monica sighed as she sat at the counter while Chandler put a couple slices of toast in the toaster. "Just nervous about school today."

"Nobody knows anything," Joey mumbled through a mouth full of food.

"Nothing's on Facebook," Chandler told them as he scrolled through his phone. "I'm sure that if anyone knew it'd be all over social media."

"I guess," Monica snagged one of his slices of toast from his plate as he sat down beside her and nibbled on the corner of it as Terry placed a couple glasses of orange juice in front of them.

"Besides, we got your back." Joey told her as he took his dishes to the sink and rinsed them off before putting them in the dishwasher.

"Definitely," Phoebe agreed as she also took her dishes to the sink.

Chandler and Monica finished their breakfast and loaded their dirty dishes in the dishwasher as well before they headed up to their room to gather their things for school. Monica quickly took her prenatal vitamin and walked out of the room.

Everyone met at the front door like they always did every school day morning and they all walked outside. The four of them climbed into Chandler's car since Terry decided the night before that he would take Monica's car to his mechanic friend so he could give them a run down of what all was wrong with her it. He would pick up Monica and Phoebe from school after they were done for the day since both Joey and Chandler had practice that afternoon and couldn't bring them home right away.

Chandler pulled into the school parking lot and shut off his car as he glanced over at Monica, as he noticed her shaking the entire car ride from her nerves. Joey and Phoebe silently climbed out of the car to give them a few minutes and waited at the back of the car for them.

"Are we ready?" Chandler asked her. "No one should know anything yet."

"Let's go," She said and they both climbed out of the car and started towards the school.

"Hey," Carol smiled at them as she and Ross greeted them as they waited at their lockers for them. "How was your weekend?"

"And don't give too much detail," Ross mumbled.

"We had to come back early," Chandler told them. "My boss wanted me to come and do training so I can start closing by myself."

"So you didn't get to enjoy anything?"

"We took a walk and saw some of the sights," Monica told her. "We'll have a proper one later on."

"I don't think anyone knows anything," Carol lowered her voice. "I've been trying to listen in on people's conversations since we got here. So far I haven't heard anyone say anything."

"They'll have a lot to say in a few weeks," Monica sighed.

"We'll worry about that when it comes," Chandler told her.

"We'd better get to class," Joey told them as the bell rang. "You'll be fine, Monica."

Monica nodded as Chandler took her hand and they started towards their Composition class. They walked in and sat in their seats like normal and Monica sighed in relief when no one said anything to them or even looked in their direction.

After school, Chandler and Joey headed off to their separate practices while Monica and Phoebe gathered their things and went outside to wait for Terry to come and pick them up.

"Today wasn't so bad, right?" Phoebe looked at her as they sat on one of the benches to wait for Terry.

"No, it was how it usually is." Monica sighed.

"So then what's the matter?"

"I don't know. Maybe I'm just stressing myself out for nothing."

"Remember, just a few more weeks." Phoebe told her and she nodded.

They heard a honk and looked up as Terry pulled up to the curb where they were sitting. They gathered their things up and climbed into his car.

"So?" Terry looked at them as he pulled away from the school.

"It was fine," Monica told him.

"I knew there was nothing to worry about," he told her.

"Any news on my car?" she asked him.

"He hasn't been able to look at it yet. He'll let me know as soon as he has."

They reached the house and they all started inside. Phoebe and Monica got their things set up at the kitchen table to get started on their homework while Terry tried to figure out what they were going to have for supper that night.

"Hey," Phoebe said suddenly, making Terry look over at her from heating up the pasta on the stove. "Can we like get a loan or something when it's time to shop for Homecoming dresses for the dance?"

"We were going to take all of you shopping for new things when it got closer. Our treat." Terry told them.

"Good luck getting Chandler dressed up for it," Phoebe looked at Monica. "Or does he not put up a fuss anymore when he has to get dressed up?"

"He's gotten better," Tery smiled.

"Although I did have to talk him into dressing up when we had our first date at the Spring Fling last school year," Monica told them.

"I remember that," Terry chuckled. "I think his dad had to convince him in the end."

Phoebe and Monica were starting to pack up their books having finished all their homework when Chandler and Joey came in followed by Charles.

"You're home early," Terry looked at Charles.

"I decided to take the rest of the night off," he told him. "One of the perks of being the boss. You can make your own schedule."

"Do we have ice?" Chandler set his stuff down. "A ball slammed me during practice."

"Again?" Terry went to fill a small ziploc bag with ice. "What happened?"

"It was Richardson. Coach didn't believe me when I said he did it on purpose. He knew I was there. He looked right at me."

"Why would Richardson do it purposely?" Charles asked him. "You guys are friends."

"We're teammates," Chandler corrected. "And he's still mad that I got picked to be captain over him."

"Yikes," Phoebe made a face as Chandler lifted up the back of his shirt to show his dad. "That is really red."

"I'd be surprised if you don't wake up with a bruise in the morning," Terry told him. "Go lay down in the den until we call all of you for supper."

"I'll make sure he listens," Monica gently pushed him out of the kitchen and towards the den where Joey had already collapsed on the couch.

"I was going to lay down there," Chandler glared at him.

"You snooze, you lose." Joey told him, making Phoebe smack his arm. "Hey!"

"He got hurt at practice," Phoebe told him.

"I'm sore too," he defended.

"It would be better for you to lay on the floor anyway," Monica told Chandler.

"Shouldn't it be me taking care of you and not the other way around?" Chandler looked at her as he grabbed a pillow from the couch and put it on the floor before laying down. "I mean, you are the one that's pregnant."

"Pregnant not invalid," Monica stated as she lifted his shirt and placed the ice pack on his back. "You're the one that's hurt right now."

"Fine," he sighed. "But I get to choose what we watch."

"Deal," Phoebe snatched the remote from Joey's hand and tossed it to Monica, who handed it to Chandler.

"Hey!" Joey glared at them.

"You should've moved," Phoebe told him.

Chandler turned on Netflix and scrolled through the list of programs and movies he had recently watched. He selected The Flash TV series and settled in more as the opening sequence started up.

"Ok, this isn't so bad." Joey mumbled.

Terry chuckled at the scene he had just witnessed as Charles just shook his head at the teenagers' interactions. Terry turned back to making supper as Charles placed some things down on the table.

"That girl has him wrapped around her finger," Charles commented. "It would take us twice as long to get him to lie down."

"At least there's no yelling," Terry told him.

"No that's later when he tries to tell her to take it easy,"

After everyone finished up supper and cleaned everything up afterwards, Phoebe and Joey started back into the den as Chandler and Monica followed Charles and Terry into the kitchen. The four of them sat around the table as both Terry and Charles set out some papers before them.

"Alright," Terry started. "This is only one meeting of several that we will be having in the near future."

"We figured," Chandler told them.

"This is just preliminary. What our expectations are from you at this point."

"First, we will not be charging you any rent at this point." Charles stated. "So long as you do your share around here."

"Which is where this comes in," Terry placed a piece of paper in front of each of them. "This is a contract that I typed up today."

Monica and Chandler picked up the papers before them and started reading through the contracts:

We the parents agree to provide food and shelter for the newlyweds and soon-to-be parents so long as the following is agreed upon by all parties and regularly met:

1. Attend school on a regular basis

2. Enroll baby in daycare

3. Drop off/pick up baby from daycare

4. Keep room/baby's room clean

5. Pick up after ourselves/baby

6. Vacuum rooms twice a week

7. Tend to baby when home

8. Do own laundry

9. Do baby's laundry

10. Take baby to doctor appointments

11. Help with dinner and clean up when home

12. Tend to baby at night

"I have a question," Chandler looked up. "Baby's room? Do we have a room picked out for the baby?"

"That's one of your surprises," Charles told them. "Joey and Phoebe decided that the room next to yours will be made into a nursery for the baby."

"Surprise," Phoebe and Joey called from the den.

"Thank you!" Monica smiled as she called back to them.

"I did an internet search and found a list of local OB-GYN's in the area. You can do your own research on them and figure out which one is the best for you, together."

"I would figure that out soon because Monica needs to have her first prenatal visit soon."

"What about insurance?" Chandler asked. "Neither of our jobs provide it."

"We changed our policy so that both of you will remain on it as long as you are in school."

"And daycares?"

"That is a tricky issue," Terry told them. "There are several around that have rave reviews. However, if our calculations are correct, Monica will be giving birth after you guys graduate. Whichever school you decide to go to may very well have daycare that is included with the tuition as long as you're enrolled."

"Which you guys needs to talk about college plans too," Charles told them. "It may seem like far away, but graduation will be here before you know it."

"We can talk to the school counselor after everything is out in the open," Chandler looked at Monica and she nodded slowly.

"That is all we have so far," Terry told them. "But we do want to see progress being made in the next week or so."

"Got it," Both Monica and Chandler signed their contracts and handed them back to Terry. "Are we dismissed?"

"You're dismissed,"

"Come on," Chandler looked at Monica. "I guess we have some things to do."

"It doesn't all have to be taken care of in one night," Charles called after them as they started up the stairs.

"We want to get the process started," Monica called back.

Chandler walked into his bedroom followed by Monica and grabbed his laptop off the desk. He sat beside her on the bed as he opened up Google Search.

"What are we doing first?" Monica asked.

"Looking for a good ob-gyn," he told her. "Terry's right. We should've had a follow up visit by now. To make sure that everything is normal and on track."

"You're right," Monica smiled as Chandler took charge and started researching all the names on Terry's list.
