CHAPTER 11
General POV/ with Team DRPN
With the assembly out of the way, Teams DRPN and RWBY exchanged Scroll numbers. When they finished, they walked up to the directory to find their room number and then followed Dusty. As they arrive at their dorm room and open its door, they see that it consists of a large window with red curtains, four nightstands, four beds and four dressers in each corner of the room along with a large desk on both the front left and right side of the room. Dusty inhales deeply before letting out a sigh, 'Let's hope that thing ends differently here. I wonder what's going to happen to Jaune.'
While this goes on he watches as Nora runs around the room and Ren trying to calm her down, he feels a tap on his shoulder as he turns to Pyrrha smiling at him. She says to him, "So leader, what do we do about this? It looks a bit crowded with everything the school provided and from what I've seen of Nora so far, we're going to need a lot more space."
Dusty nods and says, "Yeah, you're right. Give me a minute... Okay, I've got it. Pyrrha, do you think you could go meet up with Ozpin or one of the staff to see if they can replace some of the beds with bunk beds? If they can't or won't, I can alter them to make them into bunk beds myself."
Pyrrha nods as she agrees and leaves the room, "Nora, Ren. You two have been together for a long time, do you mind sharing a dresser?"
At that point, Ren had already calmed Nora down and nodded to Dusty saying that he was fine with it and that they'd actually prefer that. While Ren answered that, Nora was muttering about how they weren't together-together.
With Pyrrha
As Pyrrha was walking down the hall to find a staff member she saw Pitch making a turn around the corner and decided to follow him. As she follows him out of the building she loses sight of him, but as she is about to give up she feels a tap on her shoulder and as she turns around she sees the man leaning down and looking at her at eye level. When Pitch sees that Pyrrha noticed him, he whispers, "Boo."
Pyrrha shrieks as she falls on her bottom, Pitch kneels down to give him a hand, "Sorry about that, you left yourself so open I couldn't resist. Is there anything I can do for you?"
Pyrrha stares at her father's hand nervously as grabs on as he lifts her back to her feet and says, "No, you don't need to apologize. Besides, I think I can see the humor in it. But yes, there is something you can do."
Pitch smiles at her as crosses his arms behind his back, "Let me guess, the room feels a bit cramped."
Pyrrha raises a scarlet eyebrow and asks, "How did you know?"
Pitch tells her, "Well, I was a student here after all. In fact, your team is living in my old dorm room."
The girl widens her eyes a bit and asks, "Really? What was it like? I mean, I don't mean to intrude it's just-!"
Pitch waves her off and says, "Please, I don't mind at all. I'll lead you to Ozpin while we talk, it'll make the walk more enjoyable that way. What do you wish to know?"
Pyrrha smiles brightly and nods, "What were your teammates like?"
Pitch gives a faraway look and says, "Well, our team had consisted of a stoner -but back then, everyone was smoking something-, a singing clown, the one that kept everyone in line while still knowing when to cut loose, and the leader was a bit ditsy but was the most qualified. Can you guess which one I was?"
Pyrrha laughs hearing of the interesting character that made up her father's team and said, "Well, you don't look like the kind to do drugs, I can't imagine the Boogeyman singing, you don't seem to be 'ditsy' as you put it... So I'm going to guess that you were the one that kept everyone in line."
Pitch chuckles and tells her, "I'm surprised someone still remembers that name... But no, I was the singing clown."
She laughs lightly and says that there was no way, when he heard that he smirked as he took out a photo and handed it to her. When she grabbed and saw what was on it she widened her and couldn't even pretend that it wasn't funny. What she saw was most likely her teacher's former team. The first was a boy with long black hair that passed his shoulder and bushy black beard; he wore black jeans, cherry sunglasses, a blue denim jacket under a brown leather vest and leather boots. He had a pistol in his pocket while wearing a purple peace sign around his neck. He also had, what she assumed was, a cigarette filled with weed in his mouth as he was hugging the person next to him. The most hilarious detail was that he had a tan on half his body. 'There must be a story behind that.'
(Think of a cross between Two Face and Leo from That 70's Show)
The person being hugged was a female tiger faunas that had an iris in her long dark hair. She had a dark complexion, yellow eyes filled with love for the one next to her, a red dot on her forehead and a pair of tiger ears with several gold hooped piercings in them. She wore a form-fitting dark gray sleeveless top with white trim, the top has a large diamond cut out of the back exposing most of her back accompanied by a smaller diamond-shaped cutout just above her breasts. A long gray skirt with white accents that shaped inwards towards her calves allowing her to partially reveal them and her over the knee black stockings with golden trim alongside two long splits on the side which revealed a pair of black shorts and carried a chain whip at her side. Though the detail that stuck out the most was her pregnant belly.
The third person in the photo was Pitch Black. Back then he wore a top hat with a red ribbon around it. He also wore a long red coat with two tails, it black interior that is shown by the collar and at the end of the sleeves with a golden trim that separated it from the red. Under it he had a black jumpsuit similar to what he currently wears beneath his robe, but in the past he had a silver scarf tucked into his shirt after it was wrapped around his neck and the black staff in his hand.
(Hugh Jackman's Greatest Showman suit)
And lastly was the member that had probably changed the least and had met most recently, it was Glynda Goodwitch. The professor was wearing the same thing she is now except for the ring she now wears and that she looks to be a year younger than Ruby.
Pyrrha bursts out laughing and couldn't stop repeating how sorry she is and that she couldn't help herself when she thinks about how much he changed since graduation while Pitch swipes the photo and blushes in embarrassment. Pitch then grabs her attention and says, "Ahem. Yes, well, you are forgiven. Ah, it looks like we're here."
Pyrrha calmed down as she noticed that they had arrived at Beacon tower and started to feel a little sad that her talk had to be cut short. She looks at him and says, "Well, thank you for your assistance."
Pitch sighs and says, "Anytime, just ask if you ever need anything. I look forward to seeing you in class."
With that, Pitch turns around and walks off towards his room before he hears Pyrrha call out to him once more, "Wait, out of curiosity, what were you doing in the dorms?"
Pitch pauses, he turns his head and tells her, "I was on the way to my room, the students aren't the only ones that are provided with housing. With the exception of Port, due to multiple sexual harassment claim filed over the years, all staff live here. That reminds me, the seventh and eight floors of the dorms are staff only. Also, there's a chance that the pot-head on my team may have left some of his stash behind, just thought you should know." 'The only reason Port is still here is due to tenure.'
Pyrrha nodded and said, "I'll be sure to keep that in mind and thank you." '...Father.'
Pitch waved as he went back to his room.
The Next Day
With Team RWBY
The next morning was surprisingly pleasant for Ruby as she had broken into the Team DRPN room the previous night and slept with her brother without anyone knowing she was gone. When she woke up she had a great idea on how to make sure everyone would be motivated to get to class. As Weiss slept soundly in her bed Ruby was grabbing a whistle while her Yang and Blake had already gotten dressed. Weiss' eyes fluttered open and she stretched her arms above herself, yawning. Ruby, dressed in her school uniform, still with her signature cape, creeps up on her side and suddenly blows a whistle, causing Weiss to fall off the bed.
"Good morning, team RWBY!" Ruby greets everyone enthusiastically.
"What in the world is wrong with you?" Weiss responds from the floor.
Ruby ignores the question. "Now that you're awake, we can officially begin our first order of business."
"Excuse me?" Weiss asks, brushing the dust off of her arms as she gets up.
"Decorating!" Yang is shown standing next to Blake, both in school uniforms and Yang holding an assortment of random items.
"What?!" Weiss responds.
Blake lifts up her suitcase. "We still have to unpack." The suitcase opens, spilling its contents. "And clean."
Weiss glares at them, clearly frustrated, but is then suddenly taken off her feet as Ruby blows her whistle in her face.
"Alright!" Ruby stands in front of the door. "Weiss, Blake, Yang, and their fearless leader Ruby have begun their first mission. Banzai!" She raises her fist in the air.
"Banzai!" Yang and Blake stand either side of Ruby, doing the same pose.
Once again on the floor, Weiss sighs at her teammates antics. Yang puts up a poster of a boy band. Weiss, now in uniform, positions the painting of the Forever Fall forest to perfection and walks away. Blake is putting her books on the shelves, including a copy of 'Ninjas of Love' which causes her to glance around to make sure no one sees it.
Ruby uses the end of Crescent Rose to hand up the curtains. But once finished, as she turns around she accidentally slashes the bottom section of the curtains.
The perspective pans around the room, showing the different things that have been put up. Including the curtains that are sewn back together.
However when the full view is shown several beds can be seen crammed together in the center of the room to make space. "This isn't going to work." Weiss comments on the state of the room.
"It is a bit cramped." Blake admits
"Maybe we should ditch some of our stuff..." Yang proposes.
"Oh I've got an idea..." Ruby's mood suddenly picks up. "-maybe we can get Dusty to store them!"
"Umm, who's Dusty and what is he going to be doing." Weiss looks at her partner with skepticism.
"Oh yeah, I remember now, he didn't tell you his real name. He's Ruby's twin, you know, the guy that chewed you out about leaving yourself open." Yang counters.
Weiss raised an eyebrow and said, "Then why did he say his name was Roy."
Ruby shrugs and explains, "I dunno, he said it made him sound like an old man. Well, before our uncle had a mid life crisis."
Weiss asks, "Okay, but that doesn't answer how he's going to be of help."
Yang cuts in, "Well to some things up, my little bro's semblance is a little like our dad's where it's great for storage."
Weiss gets curious, "How much can he store?"
Yang shrugs and tells her, "I don't know, all he said was "a lot". So, yeah. If you don't like it we could make bunk beds."
"It does seem efficient." Blake says.
"Well, I say we should put it to a vote!" Weiss looks for a way out.
"I think we just did." Ruby points out.
"Objective: Complete!" Ruby announces.
While Weiss' bed is simply on the ground next to her art and luggage, Blake's bed is next to her books, which are used to raise Yang's bed over it by placing the novels on the posts, and Ruby's is hanging from ropes on the ceiling with a blanket used as a tent over it.
"Alright!" Ruby yells "Our second order of business is...!" The room spins until she lands on her bed and a book lands in her lap "Classes..." She pulls out a pencil. "Now, we have a few classes together today. At 9, we've got to be…"
"What?! Did you say 9 o'clock?" Weiss interrupts.
"Umm." Ruby responds.
"It's 8:55, you dunce!" Weiss tells them all as she turns around to run out of the door.
Outside the corridor Weiss runs off as Ruby Blake and Yang peer out from the door. On the other side of the corridor the members of DRPN are doing the same.
"To class!" Ruby declares after a short mental stumble. She runs, following Weiss, as Blake and Yang follow her.
"So who wants another ride? If you do grab on and try not to puke." Dusty asks his team as he walks out of his room, just before the rest of his team follows him out of the room as Ren and Pyrrha grad a shoulder while Nora jumps on his back... Or at least tries to before going through him and landing on her face as her twitches in an upright position. When he sees this, he leans down and puts his hand on her head before warping away.
Pitch's Classroom
Meanwhile, Pitch was standing at the front of the class and waiting for the rest of the class and Jaune sitting at the back of the class looking like he did the day before. Team DRPN had appeared 4 minutes prior as Team RWBY got there just at the last second. As RWBY got in their seats, they noticed that Pitch was wearing something different. Pitch was wearing a pair of black wingtip shoes and (a slightly wrinkled) black two piece suit with a white button down shirt beneath his jacket as he left the top button undone.
"I'm glad to see that you've finally decided to join us. Now today is going to be rather lax. So... to start this off, I'm going to be asking each of you to write down the names of every type of Grimm that you have either seen or heard of. Think of it as a pop quiz." Pitch begins the lecture. Ruby is shown half asleep until woken by the word "Pop Quiz".
"Do not worry yourselves, you won't be graded on them." Pitch hears a sigh of relief from the entire class as he continues while pacing in front of the class. "To be fully honest, this is meant as a way for me to tell how I should teach you and to know how much you don't know! Now, as you can see: The sketches behind me show some of the most common Grimm in Vale. This set up to show some of our students from outside of Vale what they'll most likely deal with during their stay here. Be sure to remember; that while the kingdoms may be the safest places on the planet, that they will not protect you from everything. Humanity and Faunas kind have been dealing with the Creatures of Grimm since the beginning and while they present the most notable threat to us. Mankind has made an enemy out of itself throughout the ages so you must be sure to adapt to what the world may throw at you no matter who or what it is." hearing what he said causes Yang to groan as she has heard it from her dad and the man in front of her the first time she saw him.
Pitch smirked, "You have five minute t write the names down, starting now."
5 minutes later
"Now that you've written them down, please stick them in the drop in box by my desk. I will be examining them after class." They each walk up to the desk and place their sheets in the box, Pitch continues. "Now, I shall be telling you all stories of how I have handled missions outside of the kingdom. I think I'll start with the one where I had to go on the first mission I had after I graduated. I had to tag along with team STRQ where we...-"
Pitch's voice fades into the background and all that can be heard is him repetitively spouting incomprehensible nonsense.
Weiss looks over her shoulder to notice Ruby's putting pencil to paper in erratic ways.
"...-syndicate, and that's where we had to improvise." Pitch grimaces at the memory, he can be heard by Weiss for a moment before looking back at her Leader. "And that's when Qrow grabbed a pair of coconuts, a wig, and a grass skirt as he...-"
Pitch's speech fades again as Ruby chuckles at her creation and shows it to her teammates: it-was-a-stick-man-with-an-angry-look-and-a-big-mouth drawing of the teacher with stink lines coming from him and "Professor Bitch" written underneath. Ruby blows a quick raspberry. Blake and Yang laugh, but Weiss looks annoyed.
"I worked hard on remembering all the details, the least you can do is listen." Pitch said in an annoyed tone, trying to get everyone's attention. "After that it was a matter of escaping. With Raven out of aura and hating just about everyone but me. So we had no other choice but to coat ourselves in iron Dust, hook up the explosives to their remaining supply and blast our way out...-"
The teacher drags a hand down his face as Weiss slowly gets more and more frustrated with Ruby's antics.
"In the end, we destroyed their cargo and escaped but unfortunately we all suffered symptoms of the narcotics and were high as a kite. There were some mixed results where I wound up with my partner and Tia wound up with the sister and we never spoke of it again... Things are still a little fuzzy after that and for some reason we all woke up in Argus a week later when they finally wore off. But in the end we forgave each other!"
"Anyway, the point of this story is that you must always know the risks involved in a plan and that plans A through F rarely go perfectly. Remember children; a good Huntsman must be adaptable." Pitch concludes. Ruby is balancing an apple on a book with her pencil held only by her finger while making a silly face.
"A great Huntsman must set aside their personal ambitions." Pitch continues. Ruby has fallen asleep again in the first class of the year.
"But a leader must be charismatic, level headed, and focused on the task at hand. But they must still be able to make others want to follow you." Pitch finishes while looking directly at Weiss as she grits her teeth and ignores him. Ruby is not-so-subtly picking her nose, making Weiss start shaking in anger.
"So, who here among you believes that they possess these traits?" Pitch asks the students as he sighs in exhaustion and walks over to his desk to lay his head down. 'I need a drink.'
Weiss still looks angry as she raises her hand "I do, sir!"
"Well, good for you. Now come up here and kill the little monster in the cage." Pitch pushes a button that silently raises a cage out of the floor. Weiss turns to the side and sees a pair of glowing red eyes surrounded by shadow shaking the cage that traps it. "Well, are you going to stand there or get your weapon?"
30 minutes later
Weiss gets flustered and marches out to grab her things and comes back half an hour later as she stands in her combat attire, readying her Myrtenaster at the growling creature in the cage. Her teammates cheer for her.
Dusty looks at the scene with a bored expression with a hand propping his head up and says, "You know, you could've come back without taking so long. What did you do, take a shower?" And receives a lite smack to the back of his head thanks to Pyrrha.
Pyrrha gives him a light smack upside the head and turns to Weiss to apologize for his earlier statement until the white girl said...
"...Yes.", Weiss has the courtesy to look embarrassed at the statement.
Pyrrha paused and closed her mouth. She turned to Dusty, who was giving them both a flat look and said, "Huh, looks like you're the first student to put a teacher to sleep."
Pitch mumbles, "I wish I was asleep."
Pyrrha whispers to her partner, "Sorry."
"Go Weiss!" Yang yells.
"Fight well." Blake waves a flag with RWBY written on it.
"Yeah, represent Team RWBY!" Ruby cheers.
Weiss lowered her sword and looked over to Ruby. "Ruby! I'm trying to focus!"
"Oh, um... Sorry..." Ruby sheepishly replies.
"Alright!" Professor Pitch announces, "Let's get this over with." He pulls out a console and uses it to unlock the cage and free the Grimm.
The cage opens revealing a Boarbatusk that charges straight at Weiss. She uses Myrtenaster to deflect its attack and roll to the side, readying herself for its next move. The Grimm stands a distance away from its enemy, studying her.
"Hang in there Weiss." Ruby yells to her teammate.
Weiss is now speeding towards the oncoming Boarbatusk, sticking her blade straight at its skull until they meet, and the boar knocks its tusks to the side causing Myrtenaster to be trapped in them. Weiss is still hanging on to the hilt, and is tossed around as she struggles to get the rapier back.
"Come on, Weiss, show it who's boss!" Ruby cheers again.
Weiss turns to glare at Ruby, only for the Boarbatusk to turn its head and rip the sword from her grip. Myrtenaster lands far away from its master, who is knocked back by the creature's tusks.
Weiss looks up just in time to see the Boarbatusk charge again, rolling out of the way just in time to avoid getting trampled and making it crash into a desk. Weiss rushes at her sword and slides to get it back in her hand.
"Weiss! Go for its belly!" Ruby advises from the side-lines "There's no armor underneath…"
"Stop telling me what to do!" Weiss interrupts, causing Ruby to frown dejectedly and gains a disappointed look from Pitch.
Meanwhile, the Boarbatusk leaps into the air and rolls into a ball, spinning rapidly in the air and landing on the ground, consistently gaining speed until it launches itself at Weiss.
It comes closer and closer, but Weiss activates one of her glyphs and blocks the roll, leaping up into the now-black snowflake symbol and turning it blue again so she can drive the blade into the Boarbatusk's stomach. It squeals and falls silent while Weiss gasps in relief.
"Oh my, it appears we are indeed in the presence of a true Huntress in the making." Pitch frown and gives her a sarcastic slow clap. Weiss stands up at attention from her exhausted position and Ruby continues to glance down to her lap, looking hurt.
Dusty watches this play out and decides no to disturb them, 'Hm... I'll leave this to Pitch and Ozpin.' He looks down and sees that Yang fell asleep, 'Well Yang, it looks like you just missed a chance to learn more about your mom. A shame too, this might be the my favorite class if this what I have to look forward to. Ehehehe... It was definitely the most entertaining.'
"I'm afraid that's all the time we have for today." Pitch continues "Be sure to read pages 56-69, and Jaune... training ground in 1 hour. Class dismissed!" Suddenly, Pitch feels a vibration coming from his scroll and checks the caller ID to which Pitch calls out to Jaune. "Never mind, you have today off, I've got to take this." And with that he scampers off to take the call.
Weiss glares and turns away, walking hurriedly to the exit past her teammates.
"Sheesh, what's with her?" Jaune comments as Weiss leaves.
The remaining members of Team RWBY look at each other with the same question.
Later in one of the corridors Weiss is still storming off, but Ruby turns a corner and manages to catch up with her. "Weiss." She calls after her partner.
"What?" The heiress replies as she turns to face Ruby.
"What's wrong with you?" Ruby asks. "Why are you being…?"
"What's wrong with me? What's wrong with you?" Weiss retorts. "You're supposed to be a leader, and all you've been so far is a nuisance!"
Ruby scoffs. "What did I do?"
"That's just it… you've done nothing to earn your position! Back in the forest, you acted like a child, and you've only continued to do so!" Weiss complains.
"Hey! It's only been one day, I thought you said you were gonna act nicer... Where is this coming from? What happened to all the talk about 'working together'? I thought you believed in acting as a team." Ruby reminds Weiss.
"Not a team led by you." Weiss says. "I've studied and trained. And quite frankly, I deserve better."
Weiss turns her back to Ruby, who tries to reach out but drops her hand with the following words.
"Ozpin made a mistake." Weiss walks away, leaving Ruby alone.
Ruby turns around to come face to face with the headmaster, holding a cup of coffee in one hand and his cane in the other. "Hmm... Now that didn't seem to go very well." Ozpin comments.
Ruby was surprised and attacked on reflex, kicking Ozpin in the balls. "Aah!"
Ozpin drops his mug as it shatters on the ground and holds his manhood while taking slow deep breathes. "Okay, I might have deserved that."
"I am SO sorry...Is she right? Did you make a mistake?" Ruby asks, on the verge of tears.
Ozpin recovers only a bit as he tries to reclaim some essence of dignity, "That... remains to be seen."
"What do you mean?"
"It's like you said before, 'It's only been one day'." Ozpin explains "Ruby... I've made more mistakes than any man, woman, and child on this planet. But at this moment, I would not consider your appointment to leader to be one of them." He leans in, so he can look more directly at Ruby. "Do you? ...Being a team leader isn't just a title you carry into battle, but a badge you wear constantly. If you're not always performing at your absolute best, then what reason do you give others to follow you?"
Ruby looks thoughtful with Ozpin's words, then smiles at him.
Ozpin turns his back on Ruby, still talking to her "You've been burdened with a daunting responsibility, Ruby. I advise you take some time, to think about how you will uphold it."
With Pitch
Pitch can be seen staring at the darkening sky as he talks on his scroll. "Hello, it's me. I'm sorry I couldn't pick up sooner, classes and all. Is there anything you wrong?"
"The cops are getting to be a nuisance."
"Has there been any risk of getting caught?"
"No, aside from those kids and the Headmaster's lapdog, nobody has gotten close to capturing us."
"Watch it. She was my partner after all. Do you need me to send you some help? It'll work better than the goons you hired."
"Yes, it would be very much appreciated."
"Good, then I'll tell Mardy and-"
"NO! NO! DO NOT SEND HIM!"
"Why not? He always gets the job done and he's a powerhouse."
"The last time you sent him to help half the town got covered in thorns."
"Point taken."
"Yeah, so what can you do?"
"I can lend a Nightmare or two and send some Imps out to keep them busy. I'd rather not reveal myself so soon."
"*sigh* That'll have to do."
"Do you like the birthday gift I sent you? I hope it's comfortable, I've been working on those things for years now."
"Surprisingly, yes, and it's by far the best one yet."
"I can't wait to use mine, I've been dreaming of this day."
"You made more?"
"It takes more than one person to play a card game, plus it would be terribly dull if only one of us could use one."
"Okay, fair point."
"How is your sister holding up?"
"Sis is doing fine, but she's been grouchy lately."
"Well, if you stopped smoking you would give her one less thing to complain about."
"What are you, my mom? When are you gonna get off me on that?"
Pitch laughs, "No, no, I'm just concerned. Cancer is such a terrible way to die."
"*groan* Fine, I'll try. Are you happy?"
"Good and be sure give Neo my regards."
"Well, I'll be sure to tell her... Gotta go, I'll tell Neo you said 'Hi'."
"Same here, I'll call you when I can."
Pitch puts his Scroll away just as he sensed Weiss coming his was. Without turning around, he calls out, "You know it's awfully rude to sneak up on someone, !" Pitch turns his head and gives her a sideways glance, "And to what do I owe this fine visit?"
"I... I enjoyed your lecture!" Weiss compliments.
"Oh~, of course, sure you did; why else would you be glaring at your leader the whole time. But that aside you do have potential." Pitch tells her in a sarcastic tone for the first half.
Weiss blushed when she was called out. "Oh, sorry. But you really think so?" Weiss brightens up at the compliment.
"There isn't a doubt in my mind, but you aren't here to trade complements with me..." He looks down at her and says with a discomforting smile. "So what do you want?"
"Well..." Weiss pauses for a moment, trying to work up the courage. "I think I should have been the leader of Team RWBY."
Pitch is silent for a moment as he frowns and drags his finger through his hair, he tells, "Weiss, you have talent as a warrior and I can tell that you will go far, but you would make a terrible leader."
Her hopeful look shattered as shouted at him, "Excuse me?!"
Pitch sighs as he needs to explain further. "I'm going to honest, I HATE Ozpin. He's been a constant pain in my neck since we met and has made the world's most and biggest mistakes ever, but making Ruby the leader of your team was not one of them."
"So you would just blindly accept his decision even after seeing how exceptional I am?" Weiss has a clear tone of arrogance in her voice.
Pitch scowls at the brat in front of him, "Who ever said I believe him to begin with? Your team would implode a week after it would be formed, AT MOST, if you were put in charge. If you listened to anything I said in class, you would've known that."
"How dare you!" Weiss is seething now.
Pitch began to exert a pressure which made Weiss sweat, "Then tell me, what makes you more qualified that her."
Weiss tries to shake off the pressure but continues to sweat while hiding behind false confidence, "I have trained for years, I would make them work just as hard as I do every day. Ruby would rather act like a dolt and a fool that become better."
Pitch chuckles and says, "And yet... Ozpin chose her. Why?" Weiss was stumped as she couldn't find a reason that she shouldn't be in charge, "Since you can't figure it out I'll tell you, you are a spoiled brat that would rather complain about your own petty misfortune and come crawling to me like you've done everything you could. Ruby has a unique form of charisma that makes one want to follow her. You on the other hand would rant at them all day and make them miserable, the fact she's here two years early says a lot. Last time I check you were only tutored by your sister and didn't attend a combat school, you got here via money and recommendations."
Weiss crosses her arms defiantly. "That's not even remotely true!" Pitch narrowed his eyes and increased at this. "Well... not entirely true." he then released the pressure and softened his face.
"So here you are coming to me because you didn't get what you want. Are you really so blind as to think that acting in such a manner would make others see you as a better candidate?" Weiss finally calms down and looks the teacher in the eyes "There was a reason she was chosen and no one else.
"Her sister is too reckless and temperamental so she would only lead you towards an easily avoidable death."
"Blake isolates herself and is far too secretive so she wouldn't be able hand out orders or cooperate unless forced to."
"and you... Your attitude is so poor that they would avoid you like the plague, if they can't tolerate or trust you as a person then; how can you expect them to follow you or trust you with their lives. So instead of trying to change the end result, try to support your leader the best you can. Sharpen your skills, master every technique, and become the best you and support them... It's like you said, she's not the best, so you should try to make her the best and cover her weaknesses while she covers yours."
He made a gentle smile and pats her head as he walked off he said, "After all, that's what a team is all about."
Weiss smiles a little at the words of wisdom before one of confusion, "Wait, how did he know about my training?"
Team RWBY's Room
Weiss lifts the blanket of Ruby's tent as she finds the occupant with her head resting on notes, a pencil in her hand, and open books all around her.
Weiss, looking amazed at Ruby's determination, clears her throat and gently shakes the other girl awake, who takes a second to regain consciousness and start flailing in surprise.
"Weiss!" Ruby tries to explain herself. "I-I was studying, and then I fell asleep. I'm sorry..."
Weiss places a hand over Ruby's mouth and puts a finger to her own so Ruby understands the need for lowering her voice. Weiss looks near Ruby's pillow and spots an empty Beacon coffee mug.
"How do you take your coffee?" Weiss lowers her hand from Ruby's face.
Team DRPN's Room
While Weiss was making up with her leader, the members of team DRPN found themselves in an unusual situation. In front of them was a strange bunk bed, nothing too strange except for one small thing, it was made of a pair of queen sized beds. Apparently Ren lost sight of Nora at some point and she told Ozpin that the team wanted bunk beds and queen sized beds. Ren looked over to his leader apologetically as Dusty dragged both hands down his face and groaned. A minute later he spoke, "Well, it's too late to go and change this so we'll have to compromise. Ren, since you are partly responsible for this and Nora won't get down from the top bunk-"
Nora shouts from the top bunk, "I'm the Queen of the bunks! I WILL DEFEND MY THRONE!"
Dusty continues as he stares at her with a flat expression, "You will join Nora on the top bunk."
Ren and Nora turn bright red and exclaim, "WHAT!?"
Dusty looks at Ren and tells him, "Look, you've told me you two have spent nearly your entire lives together and shared the same beds on more than one occasion. Nora is a complete stranger to me and any sleep habits she may have, you would've gotten used to by now, right?" Ren nods reluctantly as he gets ready for bed.
Dusty moves on as he turns to his blushing partner, "Now that that's settled... Pyrrha, what are your thoughts? Just know that I'm willing to sleep on the floor if it's needed." 'Inside of a pocket dimension, but she doesn't need to know that. Ugh, I just know that if I sleep on this floor that Nora is gonna either fall on me or step on my balls, probably both.'
Pyrrha looks between him and the bed and stutters, "W-well, I don't want to feel like I'm getting special treatment or anything and I don't want them to be the only ones to suffer. OH, not that there's anything wrong with-."
Her partner raises his hands as he blushes lightly and says, "Nope, I know what you meant and I think know where you're going with this. I'm sorry, but I can't let you sleep on the floor either so let's just get this out of the way." He looks over at the clock on the wall and sees that it's 12:15 am. 'Huh, no wonder I'm not freaking out on them. Too tired to care enough, but not enough to snap on them.'
He walks over to his-their bed and gets under the covers, "... So, are you coming?"
Pyrrha's face turns darker than her hair as Dusty sits up, looks at her and says, "If it makes this any less awkward, you can think of this as um team bonding... Honestly that's the best I can come up with at the moment."
Pyrrha takes a deep breath as walks over to the bed and joins him and tries to fall asleep as fast as possible. Dusty looks at her nonchalantly as he lays on his stomach, 'It's a good thing sleeping next to Ruby and living with Yang lowered my libido, otherwise I'd be in as bad a shape as the rest of them.' Unfortunately for him, the morning would more than make up for it as he woke up to see that he was holding her close like a teddy bear and that his twin had somehow broken in as she was holding onto his back. This would become a normal occurrence for the elder Rose.

Chapter 11 is done, I think that was my longest one yet. There are a lot of things happening behind the scenes; Who's Mardy? What is Pitch's semblance? What is Pitch smoking? Leave your guesses and opinions in the reviews, I read them all as they are what really motivate me.
