Olivia and Alex walked into her apartment, after a quiet cab ride there. Olivia handed Alex a bottle of water. "Do you want to talk about it?" Alex quietly asked.
"Is that what you think of me?" Olivia shot a question after dinner with her parents.
"No! Of course not. Why would you think that?" Alex was shocked that Olivia would think she thought like her parents.
"I don't know Alex, maybe because this is the first time you entered this apartment since we've been together." Olivia observed. "You'd rather be at your penthouse and sleep on your king size mattress than be here."
"What are you saying?" Alex's heart started to break listening to Olivia.
"This is my life and this is where I live. I don't want to get used to your luxurious life." Olivia snapped at Alex.
"I can't believe you just said that. You're upset with me because I grew up privileged." Alex took Olivia's hand. She made sure Olivia looked at her, "Yes my father may have paid for my skating until I became a teenager and I was able to pay for it myself. But I worked my ass off to get where I am today. I have been at that rink for ten hours a day, six days a week. I broke bones as a kid. Girls got to go to school and prom, and I stayed focused with no social life. That penthouse and everything in it is MINE because I earned it." She looked at the guarded Olivia. "But if you want to be here angry at me that's fine." Alex walked to the door.
Olivia was watching the blonde leave, "Alex wait." Olivia wouldn't let go of her hand. Alex turned around and crossed her arms to look at the brunette. "I'm sorry. What your parents said got to me. I don't want your money. I just want to be with you."
"Olivia." Alex sighed, "I told you to kiss me." She stepped closer to her, "I told you I wanted you to come to Skate America and upgraded Rafael's ticket. I DID IT. You have yet to let me buy you dinner." Alex locked eyes with Olivia, "I want to be your sugar momma," Alex smiled at the joke, "But you are too proud and humble to let me." She pointed out the facts about their relationship "Fuck my mother. She doesn't know us. You have to believe I didn't know she did a background check on you." Olivia nodded, "So what, you look bad on paper. I know you, and I trust you."
"Do you?" Olivia questioned, "Did you tell your father I needed a job?"
Alex rubbed her forehead, "No I didn't. He was just trying to be nice I guess. Photography is a hard thing to get into professionally." Alex explained, "I swear I did not tell him to get you a job. You know I would never want to make you uncomfortable."
"Yeah. I know."
Alex finally stepped into a tight hug, "I love you."
"I'm sorry, I don't know… how to accept people's generosity."
"I know." Alex smiled, "Because you have had to take care of everyone else. And no one has ever taken care of you."
"You do." Olivia released the hug to look at Alex.
Alex played with Olivia's hair, "Because you let me." Olivia rested her forehead on Alex's. "I'm sorry if today made you uncomfortable. I told Mom I don't want to see her again."
"Not because of me?" Olivia questioned. She pulled them into her room.
The room Alex hasn't been inside of, "No, I have been doing so much better seeing her less and less, and today was just the final straw."
Olivia sat down on her bed. "So can you tell me something?"
"Yeah?" Alex sat down on the rolling chair next to her bed.
"How in the world did your Dad end up with someone like your Mom?" Olivia asked.
Alex sighed out a smile out of frustration, "I don't know all the details. All I know is that they dated, mom got pregnant with me during her skating career, and she has reminded me all the time that I'm the reason for not having a successful skating career." Alex shrugged.
"She was a skater?"
"Yeah, according to Liz, she was a rising star before me." Alex informed Olivia.
Twenty-one year old Elizabeth Donnelly walked into a locker room to hear eighteen year old Jane throwing up her breakfast in a locker room. Jane walked out of the stall to wash her face.
"Jane, are you okay?" Liz asked.
"Yeah, I just had too much to eat this morning. Michael insisted on taking me out for breakfast." Jane rolled her eyes as she sat down to put on her boot.
"How's that going? How long have you two been going out now?" Donnelly was curious about Jane's relationship so she threw her jacket in her locker.
"Four but…"
"But what he seems like a great guy?" Liz questioned Jane's expression.
Jane shrugged her shoulders, "Yeah, he's too… I don't nice… Something's off about him…" Jane couldn't put her finger on why he didn't like him.
"Or maybe he is one in a million." She sat down to put her skates on as well. "He bought your long program costume, and he doesn't care about skating, that says a lot."
"I could get used to the gifts, but he isn't worth it." She expressed her feelings.
"I'm so glad I'm not dating anymore." Elizabeth sighed out. She stood up and put her hand out. "Let's go."
They went out on the ice to practice. Jane was having a hard time on this particular day. She felt dizzy the whole time. She went for a triple and barely landed it. She was trying to shake off the sight of a spinning room. She went into a simple lay back. She tried to find a spot on the ceiling to prevent the room from moving around. Her drunken head fell to the ice. Liz heard the thud on the ice. She skated over to check on the unconscious Jane.
Liz waited for the twenty two year old Michael to arrive at the hospital. "Hey, what happened?"
"She passed out. I'm sorry I didn't know who else to call. Her parents have to find a flight out." Liz explained as Jane has been living away from her family to train with her coach.
"That's okay. I would like to be here." Michael smiled tapping Liz on the shoulder. "I need to tell my mother what's going on with the skater she's invested in."
"Does she know about you two yet?" Liz questioned her friend's relationship. Michael shook his head. "Do you think it's getting serious?" Donnelly wanted to make her friend, was on the same page with his girlfriend.
He shrugged his shoulders, "No, she's not into me. Oh well, I'll wait til after law school to find someone like my parents want." He laughed off. "How's it going with Lena?"
Liz smiled, "It's going very well. She might be the one."
The Doctor walked over to the two, "Are you here for Jane?"
"Yes, can you tell us what happened?" Liz asked.
"High blood, malnutrition" She explained. "I would recommend she not do any extreme exercising in her condition."
"She's a skater." Michael said.
"You should talk to her."
Michael nodded. He and Liz walked into Jane's room. They saw the young blonde laying on the bed. "Jane, are you okay?" Michael asked.
"Go away." She demanded.
"What happened?" He sat down on a chair next to her bed.
Jane looked at Michael with such hurt, "I don't want to talk about it."
"Well maybe we can help make it better. The Doctor said you have high blood pressure."
"Yeah I have high blood pressure because of you." She snapped. She looked at the kind eyes that looked confused, "I'm apparently twelve weeks pregnant."
Michael's heart began to race as his stomach knotted up. "You… are?"
She saw a nervous look on Michael's face, "I'm not keeping it."
His heart dropped, "Why."
"I don't want one and you have school why on earth would I keep it."
Liz saw the hurt on Michael's face, "Why don't you think about it before you make any rash decisions."
"Why, so you can continue to skate and I can be a has-been." She looked directly at her competition.
"You're young. We can have the baby and you can get back to skating after." Michael pleaded.
"What two years from now? My jumps will be off. Not going to happen." Jane scoffed, not wanting to take a break from skating. "You know this is the right thing to do."
Michael wanted to do right by his accident knowing it couldn't be all bad. "We can get married, you will want for nothing." He held her hand.
"Married you haven't even told your parents about me. And we are going to get married?" She pulled back her hand.
Michael looked at the woman laying in bed, "You're right. This is your choice, but if you get rid of it I will tell my parents and do you think they will sponsor you being here?" Michael explained as he left the room.
Michael's words were very persuasive. Michael's parents bought them the brownstone. They made Jane sign a prenup as they got married.
Michael was in the room with Jane after the delivery. There was a very awkward silence in the room, they knew this was how their life was going to be now. The nurse rolled the baby into the room. The nurse offered to have Jane hold her. Jane rejected as she tried to sleep.
Michael accepted the offer and the nurse helped him bottle feed the baby. Michael sat down with her. He felt right with the thing in his arms. He knew she was worth the headache with Jane.
"Hey, little girl." He whispered, "It's going to be different out here than in there, but it will be worth it."
"Does baby girl have a name?" The nurse asked.
"Alexandra." He smiled, "Alexandra the Great. What do you think?"
Olivia and Alex manage to pack a bag of things to bring over to Alex's place like Olivia promised. Olivia made sure she packed a couple jeans and a variety of shirts. Alex looked around the empty walls of her girlfriend's room. She looked at her nightstand to see a damaged piece of paper. She sat on Olivia's bed to pick up paper to look at it.
"Hey why is this ripped up?" She asked, looking at the picture.
Olivia sat down next to Alex. She held the picture. "That's me and my mom on the beach when I was like ten. It was a nice day, but after the last time I saw mom. It's not worth harping on something, that nothing will happen again." Olivia tossed it in the drawer.
"But it has to be nice to have good memories," Alex tried to cheer up Olivia.
"You don't know Serena Benson." Olivia pointed.
"But I know you. And It's good for you to have good memories." Alex opened the drawer to retrieve the picture. She smirked as she found an interesting amount of things. "Olivia." She pulled the basket out of the drawer. She crossed her legs as she was ready to go through Olivia's things. Olivia watched Alex's playing detective. "You have a strap." She held Olivia's toy, "Why purple doesn't seem like your color?"
"Kathy picked it out." Olivia tried to take it out of her hand.
Alex quickly pulled her hand away, "Do you like using it?"
"It's fun. Why do you want me to use it on you?" Olivia cocked her brow.
"You want to use your ex's toy on me? I don't think so. We can go get a new one. Pick it out together." Alex tossed it back in the basket.
"I like the sound of that." Olivia smiled. She leaned in closer to Alex.
"I'm glad," Alex inched closer to Olivia, "And you can throw that one out." Olivia nodded at Alex's response. She grabbed the envelope of pictures Olivia had kept away. "Now these are what I want to see. Did you take these?" Alex asked as she started to go through the photos.
"I did." Olivia was nervous as she was letting Alex see her pictures she actually cared enough to develop.
"Alright then." Alex saw many sunsets. There were alot from the beach and different parks, landscapes, and families. She loved the eye Olivia had in her photos she captured the purity of a scene. She came across Kathy photos. Kathy was sleeping in bed and the sunlight was perfect against her skin. Also Kathy posing naked for Olivia. "Do you still have feelings for her?"
"No."
"Then why do you still have these?"
"I don't know. It's not like I can drop them off at her place." Olivia pulled out a photo out of the stack, "But I do still have feelings for her." She placed the photo she took of Alex at the softball field.
Alex smiled that Olivia kept that photo, "Would you take pictures like this of me?"
"What would your mother say?" Olivia smiled, "If we do it at your place, and you keep them." Olivia wouldn't want explicit photos of Alex being out in the open.
"But you will." She put the stuff back in the basket and back in the drawer. Olivia watched Alex lay down. Alex was curious about the smile she was getting from her girlfriend. "What?"
"You know, I had dinner with your parents?" Olivia observed.
"Yes, I'm aware. What's your point?"
"You're still here." Olivia found a step up that was needed after meeting Kathy's parents and the break up.
Alex's finger motioned Olivia to come to her. Olivia hovered over Alex, "I am." She pulled Olivia down to rest her head on her chest. "How are you feeling about this?"
Olivia felt amazing listening to Alex's heart beat. "It feels great. We can just lay here in your arms."
"We can lay here as long as you would like." Alex kissed the top of Olivia's head.
I hope you enjoyed the update share your thoughts?
