Olivia was able to keep Alex's mind off things for the morning. They still stopped by the rink like Alex wanted to do since the news. Trevor met the girls outside.
"Hey." Trevor pulled the blonde in for a hug. "I need you back here. This place sucks without you. How are you feeling?"
Alex released the hug, "I'm doing great." She cleared her throat.
Trevor looked past Alex to Olivia, "Is she?"
"You don't believe me?" she tapped her friend's arm.
Trevor looked at his dearest friend, "Absolutely not, you don't know how to take a day off. Three weeks you are probably going insane."
She locked arms with her tall companion, "Not that much." They walked towards the arena doors, "This one has a way to melt your mind of any thoughts." Alex smiled from ear to ear. She loved having people to brag about her relationship with Olivia.
"That's good to know. Thanks for taking good care of Cabot." He looked back. "So you're here because you heard."
"Yep." She shot an annoyed tone. "Why didn't you come over and tell me."
"Because I didn't know. Until the other day."
"Have you talked to him yet?"
"No and I rather not. But you two are sharing Donnelly."
"Yeah that's why, I'm here."
Nineteen year old Alex had a housewarming party at her penthouse. After she and the skaters got done with a stars on ice show in New York. A lot of the top ranked skaters of the United States were in the show and went to the party.
Peter Stone walked into the party with a bunch of alcohol.
"Hey," Trevor walked up to Peter. "Let me help you with that. You know Alex will probably kill you if she finds out you brought this in her place."
"He's right, throw that out. I'm not risking my career because you want to drink underage." Alex walked up to the boys who were placing the items on the kitchen counter.
"Are you always this tightly wind?" Peter asked.
"With Jessica Russo, a person who thrives off my mistakes. Absolutely."
"Yeah, we all need to chill out." He opened a bottle of vodka to pour a shot for him and Trevor. "Alex, this was our final performance. You can take a week to get it out of your system. And not worry about any tests."
Alex looked at Trevor's puppy dog face staring at Peter. She wasn't going to ruin Trevor's good time with a guy he liked, "How often do you do this."
"At least every other month. Got let off steam somehow." Peter smirked at Trevor.
"Whatever, your career not mine." Alex was not going to take a drink before Jessica.
Peter poured a bunch of shots, and walked to the group. "Hey hey guys. Let's make a toast." he and Trevor passed out cups. "We had an Amazing competition year. And we sold out every single show. Thanks to Cabot we can finalize our season with a bang. So what do you say? What happens tonight stays here tonight. And next season, get ready for another tough competition season." Everyone cheered while taking a cup. Everyone took their shot including Russo. "Well Cabot what do you say?"
"Everyone, have the time of your life and enjoy it." She took the cup out of Stone's hand.
Alex and Abbie were in the kitchen the following morning drinking coffee. "I really like this place. How does your mom feel about you owning your own place?"
"Well she really doesn't have a choice." Alex smiled. "How's this Serena chick?"
"She's really good, I really like her." Abbie smiled.
"I'm so happy for you." Alex was happy to see her former lover in a good spot.
Abbie looked around the quiet place, "You know I can stay here for another week. Sonny's sister is getting married and I don't have to get back to the rink until he gets back."
"Casey is supposed to be moving tomorrow." Alex smiled, "And what would Serena say?"
"She would be fine. And I want to meet this Casey to make sure you are living with someone safe. Who is she?"
"She's a softball player I met at Pride last year when I went by myself." She stated.
"You had sex with her?" Abbie blurted out.
"Oh my God why… how did you…"
"You don't just ever "Meet" someone at pride." Abbie used finger quotes. "How serious is she?"
"I wasn't looking for a relationship. I'm still not. You moved and I was by myself. I was also curious if I am really into women or if I was just in love with you."
"Alex you are gay. I don't know who you are trying to fool. And how was Casey?"
Alex nodded her head, "Not bad, but we are just friends." Alex saw Trevor and Peter walking into the kitchen. "Hey you two. How was your night and morning?"
"And Shower?" Abbie gave a look to Alex.
"It was great." Trevor smiled at the girls.
"Yeah." Peter nodded.
There was an awkward silence Peter set. "Coffee?"
"Yes, please." Trevor needed his caffeine.
"No thanks. Cabot, you threw a great party last night, but I do have to meet my father. He is meeting Donnelly and he wants me there."
"No problem."
"I'll call you later?" Trevor looked at the green eyed man. "Maybe we can meet up for dinner?"
"No."
"No?"
"Yeah," He cleared his throat. "I don't date. I only have time to focus on me. I don't have time for anyone else. And I especially don't date men, you know the stigma with the sport, you should know it better than the rest of us being in hockey."
"Okay." Trevor was confused that they've been talking for over three months since they met at nationals and he was there supporting Alex. "Of course I was just wondering about hanging out."
"I'm not friends with the people I've slept with. I have to have personal rules."
"Oh… Okay…"
"Are you fucking kidding me?" Alex snapped at the situation. She stepped in between Trevor and Peter. "You two have talked on the phone for hours at a time. I know I was there. You come into my home get everyone drunk fuck my best friend and then tell him you want nothing to do with him? How low do you have to get?"
Peter took a deep breath in and exhaled, and looked at Trevor. He looked back at Alex, "You know open skaters will never get the podium. That's why you two broke up." He pointed at Alex and Abbie not knowing the whole story. "I'm doing the hockey player a favor and I have rules. I have to stick with."
"Go to hell." Abbie sneered.
"You're a fucking asshole." Alex glared at him.
"Maybe so, but at least I'm the best in the world, not second best." Peter looked at Trevor, "If I'm in New York again. Maybe we can hook up."
"Get out!" They watched Peter walk on to the elevator. "Are you okay?"
Trevor cleared his throat to block his confusion on what just happened, "Yeah. It was just sex, good sex. But he's right, it was nothing personal."
"Fuck this." Abbie stated.
"We are not going to just sit here. Let's go shopping and get a real breakfast, not a liquid breakfast."
Alex pulled in Trevor for a hug. "I will always have a meal with you."
They walked inside the arena. Alex saw Peter Stone's banner hanging above hers.
"Home of the World Champion Peter Stone." The words on the banner next to Peter's face.
"WHAT THE HELL." Alex shouted out of rage and the feeling of being replaced. She walked to Liz.
"Honestly, how is she doing?" Trevor asked Olivia as they watched the interaction between Alex and Liz.
"I'm scared that she is on the verge of a breakdown. But she won't open up to me." Olivia confessed as she is worried about her girlfriend. "I don't know what to do."
"So it's true."
Liz turned to Alex. "Alexandra what are you doing here? The Doctor hasn't cleared you yet." Liz touched Alex's arm.
Alex pulled back her arm, "Why didn't you tell me. I deserved that from you,"
"It only happened last week. Ben is a friend and Peter and George needs a coach. This is only temporary... well trial basis."
"The banner? Is this really necessary?" Alex pointed at the banner.
"Branch wanted it up. He said if Stone is going to skate here." Liz calmly explained.
"Yeah, the banner." Peter stood next to them on the ice, "It will be nice that Donnelly to have a real champion this year."
"I am a champion." Alex looked at the egotistical man on her ice. She clenched her fist tightly.
"A broken champion."
"I know you are lashing out because you don't know the status of your father, but I'm this rink's champion. And you're a homeless champion." She was out for blood and ready to out sassy the newcomer.
"Okay the both of you. You are both my skaters at this moment. When the doctor clears you Alexandra you will be nice to Peter."
"There's the manners you need to have."
"And Peter. She's right I promise your father on a trial basis and if you can't be nice to Alexandra you will have to find a new coach. You could always train with Russo out in California."
"You know that sounds like a great idea. I mean he's already slept with her multiple times." Alex called out the past. "Maybe you are in the same rink with her. She can finally get you to go on a date with her." Alex smirked at the idea of Jessica chasing Peter.
Peter's smug look on his face went away as she made that comment. "Donnelly you're right. Alexandra, I'm sorry let's start fresh."
"Fuck you."
"Alexandra. Language." Liz snapped at her student.
"Sorry," She told Liz. "We will only have a fresh start when he says he has forgiven you." She pointed at Trevor. Peter saw Trevor for the first time since the party, "Don't worry you have about three weeks to figure yourself out, and I'll be back on this ice."
"Alexandra Cabot." George Huang stood next to Peter.
"Hey." She gave George a hug.
"I knew it wasn't the flu." He patted her back. "How much longer until I get to skate with you?"
"Three weeks."
"You must be going insane."
"Yeah, how did you survive eight weeks on the foot fracture last year?"
George looked at Donnelly, "Five minutes?"
"To get this one away from my ice, yes." She looked at her stressed out skater. "Peter, five laps and then we are going to work on your spins." She turned to Alexandra. "I will see you for Thanksgiving. Come here." She pulled her in for a hug. "Just relax you will be here in no time and we will get the technical score higher than Russo's again I promise,"
George walked with Alex back up to Olivia. "I was fine and ready to skate."
"But?" Alex needed to know everything.
"The long program was just hard to do. My foot was tired after about three minutes." He looked at the worried Alex, "But I actually broke the bone. You'll be fine, our muscles are quite resilient."
"What if it's not?" She sighed out. "Russo's going to be national champion in an Olympic year. Again." She held Olivia's hand.
"Of course she's not. You are going to win and you are going to bring home a ladies Olympic medal. You are the better skater." Huang explained. "Take this time and relax and enjoy the down time. I wish I did that." He looked at Olivia, "And I don't believe we met."
"Oh I'm Olivia Benson. It's nice to meet you. I'm a big fan. Your Gaga routines are always a crowd pleaser. The article in People Magazine on the talk about you coming out to the sport is completely inspiring." She smiled kind of nerding out at a skater.
"Are you a skater?" He smiled at a fan of his.
"No, I've put on a pair of skates in my life?" She blurted out.
Alex was confused by what she just heard Olivia say, granted Olivia really only has watched Alex skate. She's never seen her girlfriend skate, "Seriously?"
"Alexandra! You make your woman watch you all the time and you haven't skated with her. I'm ashamed of you."
"Oh we're not…" Olivia let go of Alex's hand.
"Yes we are," Alex retrieved the hand, "He knows."
"Yeah I want her to join the open side. Maybe after the Olympics." He sighed out. "Olivia, It was a pleasure. I will certainly see you around." George walked back to the ice.
"That was awesome." Olivia smiled.
Alex smiled at how Olivia was happy with the interaction. "Let's go home."
They walked towards Olivia's car. "Are you okay?" Olivia asked the quiet Alex.
"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?"
"So you are going to pretend that what he just said in there doesn't bother you?" Olivia directly asked.
"That he's ashamed of me for not getting you out on the ice. Yeah, I agree with him." Alex stated.
"I'm not talking about me and I could care less about me too." Olivia grabbed Alex's right hand. Olivia looked at the dried blood from her nail digging into her hand. "You're telling me that what just happened didn't bother you at all. Why did you do that?"
"Olivia, I'm fine. Peter just pissed me off." Alex brushed a side.
"Stop. Can you just talk to me!" Olivia snapped at Alex.
Alex looked at Olivia, "Why do you have to be so damn observant."
"Because you're hurting and I can't help. Just tell me what is going on in your head." Olivia's heart sank for Alex's heart.
"I can't." She sighed out with water in her eyes.
"What do you mean you can't?"
"Just drop it Olivia." She softly commanded. She doesn't know how to talk about her wrong feelings or express her honesty in her fears. She's used to being perfect. She can hear her mother telling her to hide her flaws and only show her strength. "Please… can we just go home?"
Olivia watched the blonde fighting tears. "Yeah." She stepped closer to Alex to move in for a hug.
Alex stepped back, "No." She didn't want to get emotional in public. She got into the front seat of the car.
Olivia shook her head not knowing what to do, as she got into the driver's seat.
