The rangers landed in the Command Center and were shocked by the sight that met them. Kimberly was frantically tending to a gash that covered all of Tommy's back and he was soundly knocked out. How had she gotten him down here?
"I need you to move him," Kim called over her shoulder and none of them moved. They were too stunned to move. They had had a few injuries, but had never seen anything like this. "Guys, get a move on."
Cameron and Patrick broke out of their shock first and quickly moved Tommy over to a gurney that had magically appeared. They were surprised at how steady Kimberly's hands were as she started an IV and then began stitching up the wound. Tommy's coloring did not look good, but that was not something she could focus on.
"How can we help?" Julia asked and Kimberly took in a deep breath. Her mind raced as she tried to figure out what needed to be done first. While she believed she could take care of Tommy, if they were here- something more was still going on.
"I need him to be okay," Kim forced out and Shelby quietly took the needle from her. She started to snatch it back, but noticed the look in the girl's eyes.
"I'm a nursing student, I've been doing stitches for a while. Let me do this while you figure out where you need us," Shelby stated and Kim barely nodded. She looked over at the console and closed her eyes. She did not want to use it, but as she walked towards it- she knew that this was where she must go.
"Let him live," Kim whispered as she stared at the ceiling and then she began punching in codes. She felt her hands shaking and the keys were blurred from Tommy's blood and the tears that welled in her eyes. She had no idea how she got the monitors for their home pulled up, but she did and she felt the anger rise. "No."
"Just teleport us there, we'll take care of it," Cameron said over her shoulder and she closed her eyes as she nodded. This being was ransacking their home and there was nothing she could do to stop it. She just hoped that the rangers could stop it. As the streaks of light landed in her home, she settled into the chair and watched. She heard the female ranger working behind her, but she kept her eyes on the screen.
"Eyes," Brandon called out and Kimberly looked around the console and snatched up the headphones she had seen Tommy wear.
"Clear ahead. Third room on the right," Kim stated and her heart jumped into her throat. That was the nursery. She risked a glance back at Tommy and did not like what she was seeing. "How is he?"
"Blood pressure is steady. The cut wasn't too deep and I've gotten it mostly cleaned. I think the pain knocked him out," Shelby supplied and Kim barely nodded. She placed her hands over her protruding stomach and looked down at it. Their babies needed their daddy, but she was still not completely sure that this ranger knew what she was talking about.
She turned her attention back to the screen and watched as the rangers destroyed the being that had been invading their house. She let out a sigh as the rangers teleported themselves back to their Command Center and she slumped down in the chair. She was not paying attention to the blood that she had settled in, she was only able to get through the fact that she had just mentored rangers through a battle. She had never intended to do this.
"Kimberly…" Julia started as she squatted down in front of her. The male rangers were petrified about what to do and had silently shoved her at the older woman. "Why don't we get you cleaned up?"
She glanced down at her hands and saw how blood covered they were. She felt herself barely nod and she followed the young ranger back to the living quarters. She had not seen much more than the main bay and was shocked at how expansive the living quarters were.
"Do you live here?" Kim whispered and Julia barely nodded her head yes. She did not flinch as she was helped out of her blood soaked shirt and pants. "I can handle it from here."
She heard the ranger leave the room and the tears started to fall. While she feared losing Tommy, she also did not like the idea of this being part of her daily life. This worry. This constant back and forth about if a noise was just the city or a monster coming after them. She stood under the shower head and let the water wash over her. She wondered if she stood there long enough if this would all become a dream. She looked down at her shaking hands and knew that she needed to get out of the shower and get herself some food. As she wrapped the towel around her, she realized she had no clean clothes and this Command Center did not seem to be in tune enough with her to provide them.
"Can you order pizza? And someone run back upstairs and grab me some clothes?" Kim asked as she stepped back into the main bay and saw Tommy sitting up, but in obvious pain. Their eyes met and she forced a small smile.
"Cam, move your ass," Tommy gritted out and she watched the shortest of the male rangers jog over to the stairs and disappear. "Jules- Hawaiian pizza for her and get another couple for the rest of us. My card is on file if you order from Tony's."
The ranger that had helped her shower moved past her and went to place the order. She clutched the towel to her and wished the other rangers would clear out for a couple of minutes. She needed to just be alone with him.
"Shel- you almost done?" Tommy asked as he looked over his shoulder and saw her barely nod. "Give us a minute."
The other rangers quickly left the main bay and she moved to him as quickly as she could. The tears started well before she was wrapped in his arms and once she had found his chest she let herself go.
"Baby, I'm so sorry," Tommy whispered and she just shook her head. He had not done anything. He had just been coming home to her. He had been walking in his own home and he had been attacked. How had he lived with this uncertainty for so long? "How are they?"
"We're okay. I just need food," Kim whispered and she heard footsteps near them and saw clothes set next to Tommy before the footsteps faded. She pulled away from him enough to see what the ranger had brought and just shook her head. The top was definitely a pre-pregnancy top, but the pants would fit. She also noticed that he had grabbed Tommy a new set of clothes as well. She went to reach for the clothes and let the towel fall. She felt Tommy's eyes following her, but it took all her focus to get dressed.
"Jules- grab some orange juice, peanut butter, and crackers!" Tommy yelled and she closed her eyes. The sugar crash had hit her fast and as he jerked her shirt down, she settled her head on his shoulder. "Jules!"
She felt him force her mouth open and she swallowed the drink. She could tell he was panicking, but she just felt like she could go to sleep against him. The next thing that hit her mouth was peanut butter crackers and she forced the food down.
"Kim…what else do you need?" Tommy asked placing a hand on each side of her face and she felt him staring into her eyes, waiting for something.
"It's going to take a few minutes," Shelby said as she felt her finger be pricked, but didn't really register what was going on. "Is it normal for the both of you to have near death experiences within an hour of each other?"
"Yes, don't remind me," Tommy whispered and she felt him holding her as close as he could and she just settled against him. She would be safe here. She was always safe here.
