When Magnus woke up he had a feeling this day might be a little bit more wrecked then the other days. It was the way his hair was buzzing with energy. Normally this meant trouble was coming. But he could be wrong. Maybe it was his new bed linen. Then he was hearing a loud thud in the hallway. He sighed. Why was he always right?

Before he could even get out of bed, he heard a familiar voice shouting.

„Magnus! Get down here! I need your help. Quick!"

It was Jace – and he sounded desperate. Magnus knew Jace Lightwood meant trouble, but he knew as well that there must be something serious happening to make Jace sound like this. As he was out of his bedroom and descending the steps to the living room, Alec came out of the bathroom. He had a puzzled look on his face that matched his own.

„Come, sweetheart. I think it's your brother. He needs my help – again."

A small smile crept on his face but was soon vanished as he saw who Jace brought with him. He stopped dead in his movements and looked from Jace to the woman in his arms.

„Where shall I put her? You need to help her quick. She got stung by a Ravener.", he said fully out of breath.

Magnus clicked back in place and gestured towards to living room table. With a snap of his fingers, the decoration on the table vanished and Jace put her down gently.

As soon as Jace was finished, Magnus pushed him out of the way and kneeled before the unconscious woman. He ran his fingers over her body urgently. Blue sparkles came out of his fingertips.

„The poison has run deeply into her system already. Alec? Fetch me some of the dragon oil from under the sink, if you please."

When Alec didn't move, he looked over his shoulder. Alec stared at Jace. He knew the look. He was angry.

„Wait... is this the girl from the club?", he said accusingly. Before the fight could get serious, Magnus interrupted.

„Alec! Now!", he demanded and Alec sighed. He threw another stare at Jace, which said 'This is not over!' and Jace just lifted his shoulders in resign. Alec rummaged in the kitchen and quickly found what he was looking for. Magnus already held out his hand to him. He needed to concentrate. Dragon oil should work. Not too much magic. This wouldn't damage her fragile system. He kept his mouth shut while Alec and Jace started arguing.

„You're right, it's her. Her name is Sue. I just couldn't believe that an actual mundane could see us. I needed to investigate. It's our job, Alec!"

„But what happened? You got the mundane almost killed?"

Jace, who had been pacing the living room, sat down and buried his face in his hands.

"It's all my fault. After our shift, I went back to the area she supposedly lived. There were demons in this alley, and she was there all of sudden. Three Raveners. I killed two of them, but she had to deal with the third one by herself. If I had been quicker..."

"She was attacked by a Ravener and has only a scratch at the leg?", Alec asked surprised.

"She can fight like she was trained by shadowhunters. She killed the demon, Alec. On her own.", Jace stated as if to say: I was right in following her.

Both men went quiet and Magnus just sighed.

"She can fight like a shadowhunter, because she really was trained by them, you fools."

Alec got his stele out of his pocket.

"She can see demons and us. She can fight like us. Have you ever thought about that she is one of us? Why not giving her an Iratze? It worked the last time a strange girl appeared in our life."

Alec started heading to where Magnus kneeled.

"NO!", Magnus and Jace yelled simultaneously. Surprised they looked at each other.

"Magnus? What do you know about her? You need to tell us everything.", Jace demanded.

"What I know? Almost everything! What I'll tell you? Nothing more. She does not want to be known about. So, I do not tell. Period."

Now it was Alec's turn to look surprised. Jace just folded his arms in front of him. He seemed to not like what Magnus was implying.

"You are not seriously thinking we will let this go?", he stated.

"Without any information?", Alec added.

Magnus just shook his head. He needed to concentrate. There were more blue sparks emerging from his hands. He had soaked a bandage with the dragon oil and carefully placed it on the wound. There was absolute silence in the room. You could hear the soft buzzing of Magnus' magic for a moment more and then he discharged his magic. He sighed heavily.

"She needs rest, but she will be alright."

Jace let out an audible breath and came to his side. He kneeled down and brushed a strand of hair out of her face.

"I am sorry.", he mumbled.

Magnus and Alec looked at each other.

"What about her, Magnus? You need to tell us.", Jace now said with determination in his face.

"I am sorry Jace, but I am not breaking my promise. Either you let go of this whole topic and go back to the institute or you wait until you can ask her yourself. Nothing more from this side."

"I will stay.", Jace said right away and got up from his knees. He lifted her body into his arms again. Her head rested on his shoulder and for a moment he looked down on her.

"Second door to the right, Jace. There is a free bedroom.", Magnus interrupted the moment. Jace went away and left Alec and Magnus alone. Magnus looked at Alec now.

"What about you?"

Alec just put his hands up.

"I am living here, remember? I am not going anywhere."
