Notes:

This is the last chapter I'm updating today. I really, really, really like this chapter. If I didn't say it enough earlier. I really like the part where Stiles is in his mind or what he thinks is his mind at first. I'm going to play on that element more in the later chapters to come. I'm definitely going to talk about it more and about what exactly happened at this moment. But since I switched perspectives, Lydia wouldn't know what Stiles is thinking, obviously, so I have to touch upon that later. In another chapter.

This note is not going to make sense until after you read the chapters, so just ignore it for now. LOL

Stiles POV:

I woke up all alone, still in the basement, though. Or at least I thought I was alone. Next to me was my wolf that I normally see that's in my mind and my fox on my other side.

At this point, I rationalized that I was not awake and that this was all happening in my head again. Because I only ever see them in my head, they don't really exist. They exist within me, but they don't exist where they could materialize outside of my body. So I reached The conclusion that I was still unconscious, and whatever was happening now was happening in my head.

The moment I woke up, in my head, I noticed that the wolf and the fox which were previously staring at me started growling and looking into the darkness ahead of me.

From what I remember briefly about the basement was it was a small room that I could see both ends of. Whatever I was seeing right now, it looked like I was staring into a black abyss where the other edge of the room should be.

After a few moments, something started to walk out of the darkness.

At first, I saw my father, and I quickly jumped up, and I was about to run over to him. He was standing at the edge of the darkness, still half-covered by it, but I could clearly see his face. Except when I went to go run, I felt a tugging on my pants leg, and the fox was preventing me from running. I was confused because my father was right there.

I tried to get the fox to let go, but he wouldn't let go. And by the time I looked back at my father, his face had changed.

I've never seen a creature like it.

But his face changed where his skin became similar to the texture of bark and where his eyes in his mouth used to be; they were just black holes.

I've never seen a creature like it.

And it scared me for a moment.

Because if this was all in my head, where the hell did that thing come from?

Unless if I wasn't in my own head.

If I had never seen that thing before then, there's no way I could've imagined it in my head.

But what if I wasn't in my own head.

Whenever I'm in my own head, I am in my room from my dad's house in Beacon Hills.

But I'm not in my room.

I'm in the basement.

So who's head am I in?

Damon POV:

I woke up in the basement, but I was alone this time.

Stiles was nowhere to be seen. Neither was the girl Lydia.

The man who Stiles said was his teacher is also not here. But he disappeared before we even came into the basement, so I'm not surprised that he's not here.

I was alone as far as I could tell; I couldn't hear any heartbeats, nor see anyone, nor even smell anyone.

I was standing alone in the basement that, for some reason, didn't have any stairs anymore.

I walked all around the basement, and I even tried to break the window off on the far corner of the wall, but it wouldn't budge even after I put all of my strength into it. And then I remembered what that man had said earlier about illusions, and I stopped struggling.

I must be in some kind of illusion right now because that flimsy window would've broken in a second if it was real life and not an illusion.

I walked around some more, but I was just trapped.

I kept getting these nasty headaches, but nothing more happened to me. Except every now and then, I smelt a smell that I haven't smelt in years. It was a nostalgic smell that reminded me of happier times when I was a child, but nothing happened besides that and the headache.

Maybe whatever illusion that was supposed to happen wasn't working because I was a vampire.

But otherwise, I have no idea.

Lydia POV:

I woke up with a massive headache. I looked to my left, and I saw Stiles unconscious on the floor as well as Damon.

I called both of their names many times, but neither of them woke up. Lenore was there looking shocked the young boy was next to her,

"How are you not affected? This can't be?" Lenore screeched.

"Well, hate to break it to you, lady, you're not the only banshee in the world. Your little mind games don't work on me." I sassed.

I was scared, but seeing as her powers don't work on me as it affected Stiles and Damon, I wasn't as worried. Especially since there was backup, in the form of Rei, who knew we were here. At the moment, I have the upper hand, and I wasn't scared.

I think my confidence in the situation angered and terrified Lenore because after grabbing her head and pulling her hair and mumbling to herself for a few minutes, she turned her head up and looked directly at my eyes. Then, her mouth opened wide as she started to scream.

And she screamed soooooooo loud.

But something odd happened, and the moment she started screaming, my body just reacted.

I definitely didn't expect to scream back at her, but it just happened.

I couldn't tell you who was more shocked. Lenore, who, after hearing my scream fell to the floor clutching her head in pain or myself. The child by her side slowly disappeared out of existence end it caused Lenora to scream even louder. But not a banshee scream. It was a different kind of scream, a very sad and mourning scream.

After I stopped screaming, I noticed that Stiles and Damon were slowly waking up. They both had blood running down their ears. And they were both clutching their heads and trying to block their ears.

It probably hurt and sucked a lot, but at least they were waking up.

At least the illusion broke.

Slowly Lenore fell to the floor crying and muttering to herself about how everyone was gone, and she was really all alone now. But I had no idea what she was talking about.

Slowly but surely, Damon and Stiles woke up. They were both grabbing their heads and moaning in pain because their eardrums burst. But as a vampire and a werewolf, respectively, their healing capabilities slowly fixed the ear issue, and they were back to normal with little wear and tear.

Stiles was about to walk forward to ask her where the book was again because this was the whole point of coming here; even though we did learn a lot of information, we still needed the book. But surprisingly, Stiles's teacher walks down the stairs holding a leather-bound book, the same book that Stiles saw on the Internet.

"While you guys were distracted, I found the book upstairs in a bedroom." That was all that Rei said before turned around and walked back upstairs.

But he wasn't completely unscathed either. Even though he looked fine, I could see some blood on his shirt near his ear. He obviously didn't escape the screams.

And with that, Stiles just left the shaking broken down Lenore on the ground, and we left.

She was pitiful, and I felt bad for her because she was completely left alone. But she did try to attack my friends, and she was planning something nefarious from the start. So I wasn't that pitiful of her. And it's not like we killed her. If she wants to spend the rest of her days in an abandoned town all by herself, then that's on her.

It has nothing to do with us anymore.

We got what we came for, and so we will leave.

One hour and forty minutes later...

And in no time at all, we made it back to Beacon Hills with the new book in hand. On the car ride here, styles got through half of it as I read it over his shoulder. But I was pretty tired, and I fell asleep halfway through the car ride as well.

The scream really took a lot out of me. It seems I have to practice a bit more.

I wasn't too well-versed in my banshee powers.

I knew close to nothing about them, but I'll learn.

After we got back into the house and Stiles went back to researching.

I decided to take my old car out of the garage and do some investigating of my own. As unreliable as the library is, Beacon Hills had a lot of old books that may or may not have belonged to supernatural creatures at one point, and I might as well go through the library in town and see if I can find anything on the wild hunt or a ghost rider if possible. It's not gonna hurt to do some research.

I can't leave everything to Stiles.

Anyway, I'm a certified genius; I'm bound to find something.

Notes:

That's all for today. I hope you guys like the 3 new chapters and tell me what you think about it. And like I said previously in the other chapter, I will switch perspectives to the characters that are not currently in Beacon Hills. I definitely already have an idea of what Peter is doing at the moment. Well, not at this very moment but in a few days or so. Peter is going to meet some interesting people, and he will find out some interesting things, and I can't wait to write about it.

That's the little teaser that you get. Peace out, guys; thanks for reading my story, and I'm glad you all are sticking to it even though I took a little bit of a break. I had a lot of classes and a lot of final papers, so forgive me. I had a total of five final papers to write, all due in one week. I don't know how I fucking did that, but I did, and I got through it, and classes are starting again next week, so wish me luck.
