Spin with Nine
By: Empire of the Words
Crossover with Angel
Disclaimer: If I owned it, Cangel would never had been a thing. I mean, the entire show starts because Angel. Can't. Date!
Timeline: During Angel Spin the Bottle. Takes place after Buffy Him.
Inspiration: The spell Lorne used in that episode just doesn't make sense! Well, the people that need to be there, anyway. I mean, you could say it was people she came in contact with before she lost her memory, but then why isn't Connor there! Besides, this way I can have a great Angel episode with some Bangel goodness!
Fair Warning: This is a Cordelia friendly fic. I do like her, just not her romance with Angel.
Chapter 1
Angel stared at Lorne as he set up the spell that would get Cordelia's memories back. Their last conversation played in his mind.
"Were we in love?" Angel still wasn't sure the answer to that question. He'd thought so, but…
"So," Cordy asked Lorne, "Who are these 'nine' you mentioned?" Angel straightened up. Lorne had mentioned they needed to "gather the nine", but he didn't know what that meant.
"Well, sweet cheeks," Lorne answered, "To perform the spell, the people that most informed who you are need to be present." He got out a piece of paper. "Now, according to a quick little spell I did, the people needed are: you, of course, Angel-cakes over there, Gunn, Fred, myself, Wesley," Lorne scattered by the last name, not completely sure how high the tension was with him. "Then some people from Sunnydale,"
Cordy interrupted, "That's where I grew up, right?"
"Yep. And from there we've got a 'Alexander Harris', 'Willow Rosenberg', and Buffy Summers."
"Wait," Angel said. "Buffy's coming?"
"Sent the call a few minutes ago. She said they would be here in two hours or so."
"Wait," Cordelia said. "Who's Buffy?"

"I don't see why I have to come!"
"Dawn, I told you, Xander and Willow need to come too, and the only other people available and willing to watch you are recently evil."
Dawn huffed. "What about Spike?"
Buffy sighed. Her sister could be a real pain sometimes. "He's still getting over being, you know, crazy."
Dawn stared at her.
"And afterwards, I was thinking about going to Wonderland Creamery, but if you don't feel like going…"
"Never mind! It'll be fine, " Dawn quickly said. Buffy smirked. She had known a promise to go to their favorite ice cream place in LA would work.
"Well, we're leaving as soon as Xander and Willow get here," she was interrupted by the sound of knocking on the door. "Which would be right now."

Cordelia looked around at the six people standing around the lobby of the hotel. Fred and Gunn were quietly talking to each other talking to each other, Wesley and Angel were each reading a book (and dutifully ignoring each other) and Lorne was going over the spell quietly. Cordy thought about the people coming from Sunnydale. More people who knew more about her than she did. Well, if the spell worked, then it would all be fine, so it was worth it to wait for them.
Lorne came over to her. "You okay, princess?"
"I guess."
"But…" the green demon prompted.
Cordelia was about to respond when she saw four people enter the hotel. Everyone looked up.
"Well, based on the fact there's already a symbol on the floor, I'm guessing we're the last ones to arrive," Buffy quipped, trying to hide her nerves at coming here, seeing Angel again. They hadn't talked since their meeting after her resurrection, and that had been... well, pretty normal by their relationship standards, extra angst with a side of emotional pain.
Angel stood up. "Buffy."
Buffy gave a small smile. "Hi." She went over and after a few seconds hesitation gave him a hug. She had missed the way he made her feel.
Lorne went over to the group. "I'm guessing some introductions are in order. I'm Lorne." He pointed in order to the people around the room. "That's Fred, Gunn, you guys know Wesley, Angel, and, of course, Cordy."
Xander gave a goofy grin as the Sunnydale natives joined the group in the lobby. "Well, it's nice to meet you guys. For the half of you who don't know, I'm Xander. This is Willow, Buffy's the one over there, and Dawn's here."
Fred walked over. "Hi there."
"Don't wanna be rude or anything, but who are you?" Gunn asked the youngest (though not shortest) of the bunch.
Dawn sighed, knowing he was talking to her. "Dawn. Buffy's sister who she doesn't seem to trust being alone for one night." She said the last part pointedly at her sister, who had just finished her hug with Angel. The group was saved from a sister argument by the arrival of Connor.
He looked around and saw the symbol on the floor and the four people he didn't know. He opened his mouth to speak, but Dawn beat him to it, speaking for all the Scoobies there. "You've got to be Connor."
"Who are you?" he asked suspiciously. The symbol automatically made him think magic, which was almost always a bad thing and seeing four people he didn't know did nothing to make him relax.
"Dawn. My sister and company are here to help with a spell to get Cordelia's memory back."
He looked over at Cordy to confirm the story. She shrugged. Angel felt a twinge of sadness that his son hadn't looked at him. He didn't know how he could make his relationship with Connor better.
"It's a good thing you're here, actually," Lorne said to Connor. "People not participating in the spell can't be in the building, or it'll go all wonky. So you and Dawn here need to find somewhere else to be."
"It would have been easier if I stayed home," Dawn said to her sister, re-enforcing her point she had been saying for the last two hours.
Buffy glared at Dawn. "Just go with Connor to a movie or something."
Dawn half-heartedly glared and started walking towards the door. "You coming?" she asked Connor. He was still absorbing what was happening and looked at Cordy. She smiled encouragingly.
"Okay…"
"Be back by dawn, Dawn!" Buffy yelled after them.
Fred giggled at the pun.
"So," Lorne stated after the teenagers had left. "Since we're all here with sisters and sons out of the way, we can begin the spell as soon as I'm done." The Scoobies and Fang Gang (plus Wesley) went back, or started, their conversations
Xander walked up to Cordy. "How much of your memory have you lost, 'cause you haven't insulted me once yet."
"Do I normally?"
"All the time."
Cordy paused for a second. "Why would you, Willow, and Buffy be important to who I am?"
"Well, you've known Willow and me since kindergarten, but after Buffy moved to Sunnydale, you were introduced to the supernatural. You and I dated for a while…''
"We did?" Cordy interrupted. She couldn't see herself dating the man standing in front of her.
"Yeah, but it didn't end well." Cordy sensed he didn't want to talk about it, so she just nodded her head.
"Okie-dokie artichokies," Lorne suddenly exclaimed. "Sit down in one of those sections, and we can begin."
Buffy looked over at Willow. "Are you going to be okay?"
She nodded. "I called Giles, and he said it was fine. I mean, I'm not even casting the spell."
Buffy nodded. "Good."
I hope you enjoyed the first chapter! If you like it or if you notice something wrong, please review. This first chapter is mostly set-up, but we've got some big hints of Bangel. I'm down-playing Connor's attraction to Cordy (and vise-versa), but I don't think anyone will miss that (Yuck! Gross! That's... Blah!). I really like this fic and I'm happy to share it. Surprisingly, I haven't seen a fic like this before. Once again, hope you enjoy.
