Adrian glanced over to his father, waiting to find out why he was sent to his office so late when he was the one who wanted him to get some rest in the first place. "Natalie, you may go now," he ordered as Natalie left the room. It was deathly silent for about a minute. Still, Adrian didn't say a thing. He wasn't going to get in his way, 'that's the mission spy on Hawkmoth, don't converse, be the model, hide your true self, just wait.'
"I have asked Natalie to bring you here because... I wish to show you around our home. I want you to see why it is the way it is." Gabriel explains as he was guiding Adrian out of the office, down to the garden where he had planned on explaining everything to Adrian before it all went wrong.
Adrian glanced around at the life striving outside the building surrounding his mother's statue. A life that he wished could be found again. Adrian thought about how 'if I just knew where she was. Then she could come back.' But he knew if he were to wish for that, somebody else could lose their mother, and that can't happen.
"Your mother would be so proud of you for staying so strong while she's been gone. I had this statue made for her the day you were born. You would play here, laugh here, don't you wish for that to happen again. I know I do." Gabriel reminisced.
'Of course, I do. But that can't happen. Not now. Not ever.' Adrien thought to himself as he remembered those times with his mother, the flower crowns they would make for each other, how they danced, and the joy he would have. The memories they would make together. Silent tears cascaded down his face as Gabriel walked him back inside, walking him to the dining room.
It was the same room as always, a long room with a table too large for their tiny family with so many chairs that never get used and on so many occasions would only ever have one person eating at it and only on a blue moon would there be more.
"When your mother and I got married. There were so many people here. They had come to see who could ever win the heart of the elusive actress Emile." Gabriel started. "Then when you were born, they were all there again, possibly even more, so many pictures were taken. I decided, from that moment, you would be a model for my franchise." he declared. "How your mother enjoyed having those days with you. How joyful she was about dressing you up in the clothes I had designed for you." Adrian felt like he wasn't even there like his father had just made up a reason for him to be there, so he could drag him around the mansion to reminisce about moments he wished could happen but know can never come to pass without devastating results.
"When we went to Tibet and found the miraculous, I was inspired to redesign all the patterns in the house. I wanted the whole place to represent our trip together. I didn't realise that it would be the last happy trip we would take together. I soon realised that that was not to be." Adrian was in a daze. 'Why was he explaining all of this? Why does it even matter now? mum's not coming back, and he can't make her.'
They began to loop back around to the office now. Adrian's head was starting to feel dizzy from making the trip to and from his father's office more times than he usually does on the same day.
