Team Natsu and the One Ring: The Two Towers
Hi, FairySinGirl here again with another chapter! Yes indeed, we are finally getting into The Two Towers now! Yay! *throws confetti to celebrate* Ok, so this is how I plan to have it work. I'm gonna be splitting it so Frodo's group will be in one chapter, and the rest of Team Natsu and the Fellowship will be in the following chapter according to the order each scene is shown in the movie (unless I get to an Isengard scene in the movie then it will be Levy, Gajeel, and Pantherlily who get a turn). Just so it will like be easier for me to get everything that way, instead of overcrowding a chapter. So like for instance this chapter will be solely focused on Frodo, Sam, Lucy, Juvia, and Happy as they're heading to Mordor.
Anyway, yeah you get it. Hope you enjoy this chapter.
Disclaimer: Nope, still don't own Fairy Tail or Lord of the Rings.
Team Natsu and the One Ring: The Two Towers
Chapter 13 Meeting Gollum
Still en route on their way to Mordor, Frodo, Sam, Lucy, Juvia, and Happy could now be seen using Sam's elven rope from Galadriel as they began slowly and carefully making their way down the side of a steep cliff, since it would end up taking forever if Happy had to fly everybody down one at a time and not to mention the blue Exceed would have been exhausted by then had they thought of that option. So instead they went with using the rope as they continued making their way down to the bottom. First Lucy and then Juvia, then Frodo, followed by Sam. And lastly, Happy was seen flying above them as their lookout and also to lower the rope to them once they reached the bottom.
"Can you see the bottom!" Sam called down to the other three directly below him as they continued to make their way down.
"No! Don't look down Sam, just keep going!" Frodo called back.
"I just hope it's not too much farther though," Lucy pointed out hopefully from her position just below Frodo but right above Juvia.
"I agree," Juvia agreed also hopefully.
"We'd actually be able to see the bottom if there wasn't so much fog though," Happy pointed out as he continued to watch them from the air above them to make sure they were doing ok. Just then Sam's foot suddenly slipped on the rocky cliffside, causing him to end up losing his footing for a moment.
"Careful, Sam!" Lucy called up to him worriedly, just as she ended up noticing a small box end up falling out of Sam's bag which he reached out and fumbled to try to grab onto only for it to end up continuing to fall down out of his reach and down towards Frodo, Lucy, and Juvia.
"Mr. Frodo, Lucy, Juvia! Somebody, catch it!" Sam called down to them, just as Frodo suddenly managed to reach out and catch it. Unfortunately, though, it caused him to end up losing his grip on the rope as he soon found himself suddenly falling towards the ground.
"I got ya!" Lucy called out as she managed to reach out and grab onto the falling hobbit just in time, right at the same time Happy had been about to fly down and grab him though he was still relieved at seeing Lucy manage to reach out and catch him in time. Unfortunately... "Kyaa!" Lucy suddenly shrieked in surprise as she had ended up losing her own grip on the rope right after she had reached out to catch Frodo and the two of them would have continued to fall were it not for Happy reacting in time and managing to catch both of them in midair, or rather he grabbed onto Lucy who was still holding onto Frodo, though unfortunately the blue Exceed's arms were unable to hold onto both of them at once due to the weight limit of not being able to carry more than one person at a time. Fortunately, though, he glanced down to see that they actually weren't as far away from the bottom as they thought they were.
"Hey guys, I'm gonna drop you," the blue Exceed suddenly told them bluntly.
"What?! Don't you dare drop us, Happy! Do you want us to fall to our deaths?!" Lucy shrieked frantically.
"No, he's right Lucy. Look," Frodo pointed out while motioning for her to look down.
Lucy blinked. "Huh?" She looked down as well and sweatdropped. "Oh. Hehe...," she chuckled sheepishly.
"Go ahead and set us down now, Happy," Frodo then said as Happy then set both him and Lucy down on the ground.
"Phew, thank goodness. I thought my arms were gonna fall off. This is why I'm usually only able to carry one person at a time," Happy said exhaustedly from trying to hold onto both of them at once.
"You still did your best to catch us though. Thanks, Happy," Frodo told him.
"Aye, no problem," Happy replied.
"Mr. Frodo, Lucy, are you alright down there?" Sam suddenly called down to them worriedly.
"We're fine, Sam! And I think we found the bottom!" Frodo called back to him.
"It looks like it wasn't that much farther after all then," Juvia pointed out as she had soon made her way safely down to stand beside them.
Lucy nodded in agreement before looking back up at seeing that Sam had also made it safely down as well. "Bogs and rope, and goodness knows what. It's not natural, none of it," Sam could be heard muttering as he made it safely down to stand beside them.
"Let's just be thankful we all made it down safely," Lucy pointed out, before suddenly noticing Frodo looking at the small box in his hand that Sam had accidently dropped as she ended up looking over his shoulder to see what it was as well.
"What's in this?" Frodo asked curiously while turning towards his friend.
"Nothin', just a bit of seasoning. I thought maybe if we was havin' a roast chicken one night or somethin'," Sam replied.
Lucy and Juvia both sweatdropped at that, knowing that the roast chicken probably wouldn't be possible out here, though they did have to give Sam credit for just wanting to be prepared for anything kind of food they might have to cook, while Frodo just looked at Sam in surprise. "Roast chicken?"
"I usually prefer fish, but roast chicken sounds good too," Happy commented as he was suddenly seen practically drooling at the thought of it.
"Well you never know," Sam protested at their reactions. "And it's very special that. It's the best salt in all the Shire," he explained after Frodo had opened it up to look inside. "And I suppose it could be used to make a roast fish too for Happy," he also added in reply to Happy's statement much to the still drooling blue Exceed's delight at that.
"It is special," Frodo replied with a small smile before closing it once more and handing it back to Sam. "It's a little bit of home."
"Yeah, but maybe next time let's not risk our lives trying to catch it as it's falling though," Lucy pointed out.
"Right, sorry, Lucy," Frodo apologized sheepishly.
"Hey, no worries though. As long as we all still made it down safely," Lucy assured him as she just smiled and waved it off.
They then went back over to the rope, knowing that they couldn't just leave it there for someone to follow them down. "No worries, I got it," Happy said as he flew back up and untied the rope from around the rock they had tied it around, before then letting it drop to the ground where Sam then gathered it up after thanking Happy while stating that it would have been a shame if they'd have had to leave the rope that Galadriel had given him behind.
As soon as Happy had flown back down afterwards to join them once more, they then continued walking on towards Mordor, though it felt like they weren't getting any closer as Sam had ended up pointing out that they were lost and didn't think that Gandalf had meant for them to come this way to which Frodo replied that he didn't mean for a lot of things to happen even though they did.
"Come on, let's all take a break for a moment," Lucy suddenly suggested after noticing that Frodo could probably use it, after he had continued to gaze ahead towards Mordor and end up catching a glimpse of the Eye on him which had caused him to suddenly gasp heavily and sit down, which Sam had also noticed as well knowing it was the ring to which Frodo admitted that it was getting to him.
As they all sat down for a moment, Sam then removed the bag from his shoulders and opened it up and pulling out some of the lembas bread they had with them as he broke off half a piece from one and tossed it to Frodo before then tossing a half a piece each to Lucy, Happy, and Juvia as well before also breaking off a piece for himself as well.
They then continued on again once their break was over, though only stopping for a while to take shelter when it started to rain which Juvia jokingly protested just for a bit of humor that it wasn't her causing the rain despite the others already knowing that. Meanwhile, unknown to them, they were being followed close behind by a certain creature that would soon end up crossing their path, as they continued on once more after the rain soon let up as it was now very foggy which made it hard to tell where they even were.
"This looks strangely familiar," Sam pointed out as they continued walking.
"Because we've been here before. We're going in circles," Frodo replied.
"Calm down you guys. Happy, I need you to fly up and find which direction Mordor is so we know if we're going the right way or not," Lucy suddenly said rationally.
Happy suddenly paled. "Uh, no thanks. I don't wanna get lost in the fog coming back."
"I think Happy has a point, we just need to come up with a plan to help us out here," Juvia pointed out.
"What is that horrid stink? I warrant there's a nasty bog nearby," Sam suddenly pointed out in disgust, before turning back towards the others, "Can you smell it?"
"Yes, I can smell it," Frodo replied.
"It's so strong even a Dragon Slayer's sense of smell could probably pick up the smell from a mile away," Happy exaggerated in agreement.
Juvia sweatdropped. "Actually I doubt Natsu or Wendy would be able to pick it up from wherever they are now," she pointed out.
Lucy nodded, eyes narrowed. "We're being followed...," she spoke up quietly, with Frodo nodding in agreement with her while also having that same feeling as well.
Later, the group decided to stop for the night, though they only pretended to be asleep courtesy of Lucy coming up with a plan to capture their uninvited follower.
Meanwhile
Their 'stalker', who just so happened to be none other than Gollum, could be seen climbing his way down the rocky cliffside while muttering to himself, "The thieves, the thieves The filthy little thieves. Where is it? They stole it from us. My precious. Curse them, we hates them! It's ours it is, and we wants it!" Gollum continued muttering to himself as he continued inching his way down closer towards the group.
"Now!" Lucy suddenly shouted as the signal.
Frodo and Sam both jumped up and grabbed ahold of Gollum and attempted to wrestle him to the ground, though he fought back and shoved the two hobbits away to break free before he ended up noticing the ring hanging down from the chain around Frodo's neck and lunged for it as Frodo wrestled with him on the ground while trying to keep him from trying to take it. Sam was back up by that point as he went over and grabbed Gollum's leg to yank him away from Frodo. Lucy and Juvia both jumped in at that point to help out as well, with Lucy using her Fleuve d'etoiles whip which she whipped out to wrap around Gollum to try to restrain him, while Juvia attempted to trap the struggling creature in a Water Lock. Unfortunately, he managed to throw them all away from him and go for Frodo again as he continued trying to take the ring.
"Lucy Kick!" Lucy shouted and kicked Gollum away before then turning to offer her hand out to Frodo to help him back up, while Sam was now seen attempting to wrestle with Gollum to keep him away from Frodo though Gollum was still having most of the upper hand as he continued to fight back.
"Now what? He's still fighting back no matter what we do," Happy suddenly pointed out fearfully.
"Well we should at least still try to keep him away from Frodo right?" Juvia pointed out as she was prepared to trap the twisted creature in another Water Lock.
But before she could, however, Frodo soon had Sting out as he went over to Gollum and pointed the blade tip at his throat. "This is Sting, you've seen it before. Haven't you, Gollum? Release him, or I'll cut your throat," he threatened which ended up succeeding as Gollum reluctantly released Sam who was then helped back up onto his feet by Lucy, while Gollum just suddenly began to wail pathetically.
Lucy sweatdropped. "Well, that worked at least…"
The next day, they had Sam's elven rope tied around Gollum's neck as Sam could be seen yanking on the rope and practically dragging him along forcefully as they continued their journey, while Gollum was still crying and wailing loudly along the way about how the rope burns.
"It burns! It burns us! It freezes!" he was wailing while being dragged along forcefully as Sam continued to yank on the rope. "Nasty elves twisted it! Take it off us!"
"Quiet you!" Sam shouted to him, as Gollum just continued to wail pathetically. "Oh it's hopeless, every orc in Mordor's going to hear this racket."
"This might be a long shot, but do you think he might quiet down if we asked nicely?" Juvia suggested as she, Lucy and Happy all cringed at Gollum's pathetic wailing and began to feel sorry for him.
Lucy nodded. "But being forceful with him isn't gonna help though, Sam," she said firmly while looking over at Sam.
"Oh I suppose you're right, let's just tie him up and leave him then," Sam replied.
"No! That would kill us! Kill us!" Gollum suddenly said in protest to that.
"It's no more than you deserve!" Sam shouted to him.
Lucy whacked him on the head with her Stardust Staff. "Stop it, we need to be rational about this," she scolded before looking over at Frodo, while Sam was now seen wincing and rubbing his now sore head where she whacked him. She then appeared deep in thought over their situation regarding what to do about Gollum, before she then looked over at Frodo. "Well Frodo?"
Frodo was glancing down at the pitiful creature on the ground. "Maybe he does deserve to die," he suddenly spoke. "But now that I see him, I do pity him."
Lucy nodded as she had a feeling that would end up being his answer. "Just remember not to let your guard down as you approach him though," she cautioned him, since Gollum still had to earn their trust.
Gollum suddenly looked up at him and pleaded that he would be nice to them if they were nice to him while begging to have the rope taken off him. "We swears to do what you wants. We swears."
"There's no promise you can make that I can trust," Frodo told him warily while stepping forward towards him a bit.
Sam just continued to eye Gollum warily, while Happy and Juvia both just stayed quiet and decided to just trust in whatever decision was made regarding Gollum.
"Swear it on the bonds of friendship, then that way we'll know we can trust you," Lucy then spoke.
"Yes, we swears to serve the master of the precious and the blond elf-witch," Gollum agreed while making Lucy sweatdrop at being called an 'elf-witch' when she was clearly neither an elf nor a witch. "We will swear on Blondie's bonds of friendship, and we also swears on the precious. Gollum! Gollum!"
"Teehee! Lucy's an elf-witch!" Happy suddenly snickered teasingly with his paws over his mouth to try to stifle his laughter much to Lucy's annoyance though she just ignored him at the moment as she glanced over at Frodo to see what he would do now regarding Gollum.
"The ring is treacherous, it will hold you to your word. And I hope it will hold the same for Lucy's bonds of friendship as well," Frodo told him.
Lucy sweatdropped. "Yeah, I'm not really sure how I feel about having a master/servant relationship though. So how about just settling for being friends instead?" she told Gollum.
Gollum nodded. "Yes, on the precious. On the precious, and Blondie's bonds of friendship," he replied while moving closer towards Frodo, prompting Lucy to remain on guard just incase.
"I don't believe you!" Sam suddenly shouted while stepping in front of Frodo and shooing Gollum away from him. "Get down, I said down!" he continued to yell while yanking on the rope to pull Gollum back down onto the ground.
"Sam!" Frodo said while pulling Sam back from trying to hurt Gollum.
"He's trying to trick us! If we let him go, he'll throttle us in our sleep!" Sam protested.
Lucy sighed. "Well so much for trying to keep things civil," she muttered dryly, before she ended up whacking Sam on the head to get his attention. "That's enough. What did I say about needing to be rational?" Lucy scolded.
Gollum was just managing to recover from that when Frodo and Lucy cautiously began to approach him. "You know the way to Mordor?" Frodo asked him, followed by the reply of "Yes," from Gollum.
"And you've been there before?" Lucy asked as well, followed once again by Gollum replying with, "Yes."
Sam, meanwhile, was still eyeing Gollum warily before turning to look over at Happy and Juvia who were still just watching silently. "Why aren't you two saying anything against this too? You should be trying to talk Lucy out of it as well," he suddenly told them.
Juvia blinked in surprise. "Huh? Well to be honest, I guess I am a little uneasy about trusting him. But even though Lucy's my rival for Gray's affections, she's still my friend. I just hope she and Frodo know what they're doing is all. Besides, even if the worst thing he could do is kill us in our sleep, maybe giving him a chance is the best way to avoid that. So in other words, I plan on siding with the majority," she pointed out, "I'm not sure about Happy's opinion though," she added as the blue Exceed was still too busy giggling over Lucy being called an elf-witch to pay attention to what Juvia was saying.
"Well I hope you're right then, but I'll still be keeping a close eye on him though," Sam replied, just as Frodo could suddenly be heard telling Gollum, "You will lead us to the Black Gate," followed by Lucy removing the rope from him, though Sam just still continued to eye Gollum warily.
Lucy then looked over at Sam. "Ok, now I think I need to have a word with both you and Frodo for a moment," she said while pulling both hobbits aside for a moment to talk with them, "I'm just letting you know that I won't be fully taking sides between you two regarding different opinions of Gollum, so that way I can stay as neutral as possible incase either one of you needs to be whacked. In other words, I won't allow this decision to turn us all against each other. Ok?" she told them rationally.
Sam thought about it a moment. "Well, alright then. I suppose I can try," he reluctantly agreed. Even though he didn't like the idea of trusting having Gollum as their guide, Lucy's calm and rational judgment was still enough for him to just go with it for now.
Frodo nodded in agreement as well.
Lucy nodded, smiling slightly. "Good. Anyway, let's get going now. We still got a long way ahead of us."
With that said, the group could now be seen following Gollum as he led the way. Gollum could be heard talking to himself about not wanting to go back there as he continued to run ahead of them. He suddenly stopped on top of a rock for a moment as he continued muttering to himself before suddenly noticing the group suddenly stop and watch him before he suddenly ended up taking off ahead of them again.
"Hey, come back now! Come back!" Sam called out as they continued to chase after.
"Hey, wait for us! You're going too fast!" Happy also called out, though Gollum suddenly appeared to be too far ahead and out of sight now even for the blue Exceed to be able to keep up with him by flying.
"There, what did I tell you? He's run off, the old villain. So much for his promises," Sam continued to say, just as Gollum suddenly popped back up in front of them from behind a rock.
"This way hobbits, and Blondie, Water-witch, and flying kitty. Follow me!" he said before hurrying off again.
"You were saying?" Lucy told Sam dryly as they continued to follow him.
Juvia suddenly sweatdropped. "Did he just call me a 'water-witch'?" she mumbled as she followed right behind Happy and Sam.
Meanwhile
Unknown to them a group of four Dark Guild members from Doryu Ghost Attack Squad who joined forces with Saruman had just been sent out from Isengard in order to capture them. These Dark Mages were Gunya, a bulky being made of rocks known as a Golem able to disintegrate into rocks to attack and bind his opponents and hilariously his face falls off at a comedic moment; Kiriko, a female vampire with the magic called Evil Cross that she fires from her palm. The lips tattoo at her throat is able to extend, becoming a fanged mouth to attack and suck blood; Blank, an agile skeletal fighter, able to shoot dynamite sticks from the two holes on his head. He tends to use the word "Explosive!" frequently in his speech and is a battle maniac who spams lots and lots of guns and explosives; and lastly was Mummy, a corrupt scientist with an affinity for werewolves as he created a breed of bipedal wolves with three eyes and machine guns imbued into their right arms. He possesses Bone Knight Magic that transforms him into a powerful skeletal warrior in knight armor and wields a huge sword and shield.
And that's it for this chapter. Credit for the members of Doryu Ghost Attack Squad being sent out to try to capture the group as they continue heading to Mordor at the end there goes to Warmachine375 for suggesting that. It's just to make things more interesting so it won't be just all canon LOTR all the way through to the end, because yeah that would just be boring and dull for you readers. Don't worry though, you'll see more of the Doryu Ghost Attack Squad members make their move to attack them next time. So stay tuned. Hehehe...
In the meantime, I hope you enjoyed this chapter.
Next chapter will switch to focus on the rest of Team Natsu and the Fellowship.
