Summary:

Nene falls for the same trick twice and Tsukasa gets a fish

After another evening of wasting away her youth cleaning the girl's bathroom, Yashiro is finally dismissed for the day by Hanako. Not even missing a beat she heads off for home, today her class was forced to do laps in their gym class, and it's exhausted her.

Not that Hanako cared, he had her stay on until everything was spic and span. Even his teasing seemed to have been amplified.

"Yashiro, with all that running I'm sure your daikon legs will grow to be all nice and juicy~"

"I don't have daikon legs!" She declared as she was walking towards the school's gate.

"Eh? Really?" Yashiro froze at the new voice; it was sickeningly familiar yet foreign all at the same time. She knows that voice.

The girl squeaked as she turned, instinctively jumping back in the process, before her was none other than Tsukasa. Hanako's twin brother who was murdered, who kidnapped her and tried to get rid of her. He stood there with his arms behind his back with an almost innocent look on his face, you could almost mistake him for an angel. But Yashiro will not be fooled twice!

"A-ah it's you!" She pointed at the boy, who only tilted his head and slowly blinked.

"Yes it's me." The boy began floating and headed towards Yashiro, he eyed her with curious eyes. "What are you doing?"

"Eh?" Yashiro stepped back, trying to reclaim some distance, but the boy only floated closer completely disregarding her personal space. "I-ah-um… I'm going home?"

"Oh?" He leaned his face even closer- if that was even possible- and gave a smug smirk. "Ne, do Amane's kisses taste like lemon?"

"Ah! W-w-what?!" Yashiro flustered, her face becoming as red as a tomato. Where had that come from? "We don't k-kiss! Is that what he's told you?!" Overtaken by her embarrassment, Yashiro crouched to the ground and over her face with her hands. She willed the image of Hanako kissing her to leave her mind. "He's not my type!" She wailed.

She was too distracted to see that in a blink of an eye, Tsukasa's entire demeanor changed. His eyes no longer showed the innocence of a curious young boy, but of a predator who had cornered its prey. He took the bucket of water that he was hiding behind his back and prepared his next move.

"You know Nene- "Yashiro barely had time to register the cold water being splashed on her- "you really are easy to trick." He cackled as he caught the fish which had previously been Yashiro. He watched in glee as the pink fish began flopping about in panic, completely helpless against him.

Yashiro can't believe she's done it again, and it was basically the same trick as before! Didn't she literally just tell herself she was not going to be fooled twice?!

Yashiro started finding it harder and harder to breathe, her gills were meant for water not pure air. But looking into those amber eyes, Yashiro knew that was the least of her worries. Unlike Hanako's warm but mischievous eyes, Tsukasa's were wild and unpredictable. Who knows what he's got in mind for her?

With her lungs burning from the lack of water in her gills, Yashiro couldn't find the strength to move any longer. Tsukasa frowned.

"Eh did you die?" He asks, lifting the fish by tail to above his head to inspect. He opens his mouth wide and slowly lowers Yashiro, anticipating a funny reaction. Seeing that the fish wasn't doing anything, he whined as he pulled her away before she touched his tongue. "How boring~"

Tsukasa held the fish to eye level, squinting hard, trying oh so desperately to see what the issue was. Was he forgetting something?

"Sakura will fix you." He declared. "Sakura is my amazing assistant you know~ She knows lots of stuff." Yashiro was barely registering at this point that she was being spoken to. All she could feel was the searing pain from her gills, begging to be filled with water.

Tsukasa teleported to the broadcasting club in a puff of black smoke, immediately he located his lovely assistant and pounced.

"Ne honey, fix my fishy?" He asked as he unceremoniously dropped Yashiro onto Sakura's lap. The boy didn't notice Sakura's sharp intake or how her eyes slightly narrowed in horror. Although he whined when she abruptly stood up and rushed to the nearest sink.

At this point, Sakura was use to the ghost's antics. When he first dropped the fish in her lap, she thought it was another dead animal that he's caught just for her. But looking closer, she quickly pieced together what was happening and rushed to put Yashiro into some water. Filling a glass bowl with water, she wasted no time gently placing the girl in it. Thankfully the girl was immediately back to life and was desperately inhaling to get her lungs filled.

Sakura took a moment to compose herself, relieved she had not been too late, and turned to Tsukasa, who had begun scribbling on her homework- again.

"Tsukasa…" Immediately the boy's full attention was on her, he tilted his head and placed a finger on his chin.

"Hmm? What is it?"

"Where… did you find that fish?" She worded carefully. There was a chance that Tsukasa did not know he'd picked up his brother's assistant, if he found out he could get too excited.

"Oh!" He grinned and floated over to the glass bowl which contained Yashiro. He exclaimed loudly in excitement, seeing that his assistant had indeed fixed his fishy. He grabbed the glass bowl and shoved it in Sakura's face, proudly presenting his catch.

"I caught Nene-chan outside!" He boasted, again not noticing how Sakura paled at his statement. "She was just asking to be caught, she totally let her guard down the moment I mentioned Amane. What a dumb daikon." Yashiro cried as she was once again reminded of her failure.

"I see…"

"So, so, so!" He chanted, clutching the bowl to his chest, not caring if water spilt. "I've decided to keep her!" Yashiro, who at this point was now recovered from her near-death experience (again), began freaking out at the younger twin's statement.

"Eh?! Keep me? I'm not a pet!"

"Hmm I had a pet fish when I was younger." Tsukasa reminisced, looking to the ceiling and holding a finger to his lips. "Amane won it at a festival, but I wanted it so bad that he gave it to me." Sakura blinked.

"What does that have to do with Yashiro-san?"

"Ehhh I was just getting to that part Sakura! Have some patience." He waved his hand, as if swatting away her question. "See I accidentally ate it the same day, so I never got to take care of it." Yashiro felt her heart drop to her stomach as she listened to Tsukasa's casual story about eating his pet fish.

"How do you accidentally eat your pet?!" She screeched, flailing about in her glass prison. Tsukasa leaned down to look directly at the small fish, eyes devoid of any empathy and humanity.

"By swallowing them whole."

The fear Yashiro felt in that moment was overwhelming, and she ended up blacking out. The boy cackled, loving her reactions to him, his big brother sure knows how to pick his assistants.

"Your brother is going to find out." Sakura informed the boy, trying desperately to mask any of the worry she was feeling. If he sensed any fear, he would exploit it to the fullest.

"Hmmm~" He hummed, childishly poking at Yashiro's fainted body. "Amane can find a new assistant." He smiles wildly. "He always gives me his things."

The next coming day was difficult for Sakura to watch, as Tsukasa continuously liked to tease fish Yashiro. Although sometimes he was content to just sit and watch her for hours on end, swimming in the small glass bowl, but other times his morbid curiosity surfaced.

"Hey Nene-chan, do you taste like tuna?"

"Eh?! No of course not!"

"Ooh what do you taste like then?"

"Tsukasa, isn't it time to change another rumour?"

"Oh yeah~ Coming Sakura!"

When things become dangerous the 3rd year will try to redirect Tsukasa's attention from the fish, anything just to keep the girl alive. It had not even occurred to the boy that Yashiro needed to eat, so Sakura has been giving the girl some fish food whenever the ghost wasn't around.

"Um Nanamine-senpai? Can't you just let me go? I thought you liked me." Sakura blinked.

"I do like you." She reaffirms, pouring herself a cup of tea and she prepares for this conversation.

"Then why won't you help me escape?! I wanna go home, o-or at least see Hanako-kun… I thought he would have come to save me by now. He always comes when I need him." If fishes could cry underwater, then Yashiro would have been bawling her eyes out at this point. But alas she couldn't cry, another reminder she was stuck in this cursed form.

Sakura only sighed. "If you suddenly disappear right now, Tsukasa may hunt you down and bring you back." Yashiro gasped in fear, imagining a bloodthirsty Tsukasa haunting the halls looking for her. She did not want that. "Or he may just whine to me and forget about you." She took a sip of her tea. "The thing about Tsukasa is that you don't know what he's thinking or how he'll react."

"S-so what do I do?" Yashiro cried.

"Make him lose interest."

"Huh?"

"Think of him as a child, right now he's got a new pet and that's exciting for a child." Sakura explains the best way she can. "But if you don't do anything, just sit there and don't react, then he's going to lose interest in you." Hope shone in Yashiro's eyes. "Probably anyway."

"Ehh but he wants to eat me!" She cried. "How can I not react to that?!"

"Good luck. I'm cheering for you." Sakura takes another sip of her tea.

Yashiro did not feel positive about her chances on not reacting to Tsukasa's advances, even when he's just watching her it makes her feel incredibly uncomfortable. Honestly Hanako should have rescued her by now! Doesn't he care? Has he even noticed she's gone?!

"Hanako-kun…"

On the contrary to what Yashiro thinks, Hanako has indeed noticed that his assistant has gone missing.

"I'm not asking anymore, tell me where my assistant is Tsuchigomori." Hanako glowered at his former teacher, pointing his knife straight at him. The supernatural only sighed, tired of the constant questioning.

"I've been telling you since the first time you asked, I don't know where Yashiro-san is. She's probably at home sick." Of course, like the first time he answered, Hanako wasn't taking that as an answer.

"She was fine last time I saw her, and I can feel it, something's seriously wrong." Hanako's expression darkened. "You have her book in that library of yours, it probably tells you exactly where she is. Go get it." Tsuchigomori pinched the bridge of his nose, the brat was being so unreasonable.

"Can't you just use your Hakujoudai to find her?" Hanako's amber eyes softened as he looked to the side.

"I've tried, but they always come back empty handed. Like they get lost." His expression grows more worried. "Please Tsuchigomori-sensei, I don't know what I'll do if she's hurt." He pleads.

"Fine." He drawls, he can't say no to that face. "Give me an hour, I'll look through her book for you." As he spoke the words the ghost wanted to hear, Hanako finally puts away that god-forsaken knife and relaxes from his battle stance.

"Thank you." He smiles, relieved that something is finally being done about the disappearance of his lovely assistant.

Hello everyone! It's your favorite heroine Yashiro Nene here.

"Does she mean favorite daikon?" A voice distantly asks.

Today I have decided to put my foot down and stop reacting to Tsukasa-kun's torments, for a lady should not need to stoop so low! I am an angel who is above the teasing's of a 13-year-old boy-

"Ne Nene-chan, do you have blue blood? I wanna cut you open and see."

Yashiro, who up until this point had done a grand job of ignoring the ghost's prodding fingers and morbid questions, broke her silence streak as she narrowly missed a steak knife slamming down into her glass bowl. Tsukasa's face brightened at her movement.

"Wow want an interesting reaction~" Yashiro felt her blood run cold; things just got way more dangerous. The fish barely had time to register the blade rising before it was hurled back down, again Yashiro barely dodged the knife with a screech. Tsukasa cackled at her desperation to get away from the knife, in a way it reminded him of his brother.

"Tsukasa." At the voice of his honey, the boy momentarily stopped his actions and turned towards his assistant. "Did you want some donuts?"

Any other time Tsukasa would have delightfully said yes and dropped everything he was doing. But he sensed it, he could sense Sakura's fear. It was barely there, but he could see it in her eyes. She was afraid for his fishy. He gave a wide grin.

This was killing so many birds with one stone. He could watch his fishy's desperate attempts to live, he will have the pleasure of knowing he's getting rid of something his honey cares about, he can see what the inside of a human/fish thing looks like and best of all, it will probably piss Amane off.

"No." Tsukasa did not miss the horror that was slowly dawning on Sakura's face, to the untrained eye like Yashiro she seems unaffected, but Tsukasa knows his assistant. "I want to play with Nene-chan."

Yashiro stared into Sakura's eyes, silently begging the girl to do something- anything- to help her. Yet the girl simply sighed, defeated, and turned back to what she was doing beforehand.

"Okay." And with that single word, Yashiro felt her heart rip in two. She's lost her only ally in this situation.

The girl dodged another knife attack, and another, and another. Her body was moving before her mind even caught up with her environment, she was reacting purely on instinct.

Tsukasa's attacks became slower but had more force behind them. He was becoming bored with the cat and mouse game, all fishy was doing was dodging. Fed up he flung away the knife and grabbed Yashiro by her tail fin, lifting her to above his head. He watched her desperately squirm him his grasp.

Just as Tsukasa was thinking of what else he wanted to do to his fishy, the doors to the broadcasting room slammed open. All eyes turned towards the figure at the doorway.

It was none other than Hanako with his cape flowing behind him, and knife was at the ready. His eyes immediately locked in on Yashiro.

"Amane!" Tsukasa exclaimed, already heading full speed into his brother's arms.

"Don't." Shocked at the lethal tone his brother used against him, Tsukasa came to a halt. He tilted his head.

"Eh? Amane you look scary~" Yashiro, still hanging by her tailfin, took a good look at Hanako. To say he looked upset would perhaps be an understatement- he looked positively livid. Usually he had an aura of mystery and mischief around him, often it was easy to forget that he was the ghost of a murderer. But right now you couldn't make that mistake. He had a dark expression on his face, with his eyes narrowed, and his knife was pointed directly at Tsukasa. He looked ready to kill.

But… even if he looked scary, he had still come for her.

"Give her back to me Tsukasa." His calm voice did not match the intense look on his face. It confused Tsukasa. Amane should be shaking in his boots at the mere sight of him. Amane would never hold that knife against him like that.

"But this is my fishy." Tsukasa blinked and innocently pointed to Yashiro, who was beginning to grasp for breaths.

"She is my assistant."

"ehhh~ But I like her. You'll give her to me rig-?"

"No." His words cut through Tsukasa's question, leaving no room for debate. Tsukasa scowled; he didn't like the way Amane was acting at all. He looked to the fish dangling from his fingers, was she really worth all this trouble with his brother?

Why was he even thinking of this? Nothing is worth more than Amane.

Making his decision, he unceremoniously flung Yashiro towards Amane. Hanako barely had any time to react as he caught the girl with his free hand. The moment they touched Yashiro was finally returned to her human form.

Finally able to breathe again, Yashiro flung herself wholly onto Hanako and latched her arms around his neck.

"Hanako-kun!" She wailed, finally feeling safe for the first time in what felt like forever. His only response was to secure an arm round her waist, his gaze never leaving Tsukasa's.

"See you soon Amane." Tsukasa waved and watched as the pair left his boundary with Hanako's Hakujoudai.

"Hanako-kun, I was tricked again!" Yashiro cried into the crook of his neck. The boy was sure if he didn't have a need to breathe, he would have died from Yashiro's insane grip around his neck. She must've been really scared…

"I'm sorry Yashiro for not coming sooner." He whispered, wholly returning the embrace. She was safe now, back by his side where she belongs. He knows the type of horrors his brother is capable of, and he can only thank the powers above that Yashiro was not seriously hurt.

"I thought you forgot about me." She whined. "I was there for a whole day and you never came." Hanako's grip tightened.

"I could never forget about you." He admitted, fighting a small blush that wanted to take over his cheeks. He pulled back just enough to see Yashiro's face and cup her cheeks. "How on earth could I forget about such a handful assistant?" His joke was rewarded by a laugh from the girl.

He smiled, things would be just fine.
