Charlie steps out the screen door of the house as her eyes took in the two figures walking in the distance.
It was Skylar and Quinn.
It has been like this for the last week. Ever since she, Rachel and Sam walked in on them in the kitchen hugging, things have been different.
Every morning since then Skylar and Quinn go running across the land to keep up their exercise routines. They're still cheerios after all.
Quinn had invited Charlie once but when she declined in her obvious jealousy, she didn't think it would become what it has.
Quinn and Skylar have become almost inseparable. After they're morning run, they eat lunch, talk, laugh and do each other's hair.
It's making Charlie crazy because she doesn't know what to make of it.
On one hand she's so happy her sister has branched out of her bubble with Rachel and is opening up to Skylar because honestly the two seem a lot happier. Like a weight has been lifted from their shoulders
But on the other hand, she can't seem to stop the jealousy that fills her because not only did she catch the end of a conversation Skylar was having with that Bianca chick on the phone a few days prior. She now worries that maybe her sister has caught Skylar's eye and Skylar now knows how much better her sister is than her.
Charlie knows she would feel a little more secure in the fact that they were just friends if Quinn wasn't currently in the doghouse with Rachel.
It seems Rachel did a 180 and is now giving Quinn the cold shoulder and no one knows why?
Speaking of the brunette, Charlie cast her eyes to the girl in surprise that she's actually sitting on the porch steps.
Charlie watched her sister and Skylar from a distance and sighed as she spoke.
"What do you think they talk about when they're alone?" Charlie asked rhetorically being surprised that Rachel actually replies.
"Who knows and who cares." The brunette griped.
To say Rachel is irritable would be putting it mildly.
Rachel can tell you why that day Quinn finally came up to the attic after having breakfast with Skylar and tried to talk to her only for the brunette to snap at her in aggravation.
Rachel can tell you why when Quinn tried to share her bed, she told the blonde to stop being a baby and sleep in her own damn bed.
Rachel can tell you why she has blatantly ignored Quinn's presence and stopped eating as well as stopped sleeping in the attic and now crashes on the couch even after Quinn begged her to come back up to the attic.
Rachel can also tell you why she refuses to answer Quinn's questions of what had she done wrong for Rachel to be mad at her?
It's simple...
Rachel is undeniably jealous!
Dangerously so.
Not only because Quinn told Skylar she loved her hair.
Not only because she twirled her fingers into it.
Not only because Skylar said she loved the glow of Quinn's skin but because...
Secretly Rachel always felt like Skylar was the more beautiful twin.
Even when they were kids Rachel criticized herself and compared herself to her little sister in secret.
She always mentally and emotionally fawned over her sister's beauty.
Now as teenagers it seemed the gods were in Skylar's favor in the looks department.
Not to mention the fact that Rachel felt like a fucking walrus that's stuck on a bolder because she's too fat to move back to sea.
She feels ugly, huge, and unattractive and the moment she saw Quinn hugging her sister her heart snapped in two because in that moment, she felt like she lost to her sister again.
Just like everything else in her life.
Like Skylar always comes out the victor.
Then Rachel got mad at herself because then she found herself crying when she snuck out after everyone went to sleep, because she felt like she was losing Quinn to her sister and THAT was a no fucking go!
It dawned on her then that Quinn did more than gain her trust.
She did more than corrupt her silence.
She embedded herself in Rachel's heart so strongly that the thought of Quinn not in her life brought Rachel to her knees beneath the tree she and Sam had first found.
She covered her mouth and sobbed and at first couldn't understand why.
Then she went and did the unforgivable to herself.
When she knew Quinn had gone on her run with Skylar while everyone else was still asleep, she went to the bathroom and stared at her reflection for the first time in years,
She looked into her own troubled eyes and thought the unimaginable.
'Why not me?... Why can't she want me?...'
Then her eyes cast down to her belly and slowly ever so, as if just the act itself would burn her, Rachel lifted the cloth of her hoody and for the first time looked at her swollen growing belly.
Her eyes welling with tears.
In that moment, her heart felt Quinn's betrayal so strongly because it told her she wasn't enough anymore, that they (meaning the baby as well) weren't enough and that stabbed her so deeply that she buckled and slammed her hand over her mouth as thoughts she refused to acknowledge came crashing into her like a tidal wave.
Why would Quinn even want her when she was a damaged, heavily pregnant, mentally and emotionally unstable, worthless no body?
After that night Rachel has been completely closed off and no one knows why.
Charlie's eyes cast down to the indifferent brunette. She still can't figure the girl out but something in her is begging her to try so with a breath she stepped forward and plopped down on the steps next to Rachel in show of silent support.
Skylar cast a glance over her shoulder and did a double take her steps faltering.
Quinn saw her then slowed and turned to see what the brunette was looking at in the distance.
Her eyes widened as her mouth pursed. Quinn felt her chest tightened and her nostrils flair as pain engulfed her.
She couldn't even sit with Rachel anymore but somehow Charlie can?!
Skylar felt herself tense not because of Rachel but because there Charlie was again talking to everyone else but her.
It pissed her off to no end.
One minute Charlie is cold then she's hot then cold again.
Skylar's no fool, she's seen Charlie's eyes on her when she thinks she isn't paying attention.
She's seen Charlie looking at her with 'I miss you' eyes but until the blonde stepped up and actually talk to her, she is not backing down because she deserves the truth.
She deserves more than the small bones Charlie's given her. She's earned them and if Charlie can't understand that then...
Then Skylar will let her go.
Because after hours of thinking about it. After days of confiding in Quinn about her past and everything that's happened to her.
After telling Quinn just what went down with Biance and hearing Quinn tell her she's justified in not trusting Charlie with her heart right now.
Quinn has given Skylar a new perspective. One that she needed, one that was coming from someone it shouldn't.
Will it hurt?
Hell fucking yes it would, but no one should be allowed to have that kind of hold on you.
Skylar then noticed Quinn's demeanor and turned her eyes to the blonde as she saw the beginning well of tears.
"Hey..." She said gently.
Quinn's eyes locked on hers.
"Don't do this to yourself. Whatever Rachel's going through right now is most likely temporary.
"You are going to be back in her good graces before you know it. We already combed through pages upon pages about pregnancy hormones and all that research told us is that this is just a part of pregnancy, it will pass Quinn." Skylar assured her with a rub to her back.
Quinn sniffled as she wiped a stray tear. "You're right, it'll pass but... it doesn't mean it doesn't hurt though. I mean, what did I even do?!"
"You can't say things like that, even if it isn't the pregnancy hormones Rachel still has no right to treat you that way."
Quinn's eyes shot to the brunette in surprise.
"It's like you told me Quinn, the same applies to you. You matter. You're feelings matter."
Quinn's lips trembled as she smiled in gratefulness.
"Yeah, you're right." The blonde sighed as both their eyes cast to the duo still on porch.
"What do you think they're talking about?" Quinn asked.
"I have no idea." Skylar replied.
The two watched a moment longer before turning on their heels and continuing their walk.
Shelby got in her car and shut the door with a heavy sigh. She just left Carmel after putting in her resignation and explaining she can't finish out her two weeks due to family obligations.
"Are you okay?" Sam asked from the passenger seat.
She turned her eyes to the boy beside her with tired eyes. Sam didn't feel like staying home today. He begged to come with her because he claimed he was going crazy being stuck in that house day in and day out. Especially with all the estrogen flying around in such a batch shit crazy way. Not that he used those words specifically but that's what Shelby's brain deciphered it as.
"I should be asking you that. How are you holding up?"
"The best I can I guess; everything just doesn't seem real right now."
"I get that, and it most likely will feel that way for a while but eventually it'll get better."
"How do you know for sure? When my dad gets out god knows what he'll do."
"True but we've already taken the necessary steps. I'm also setting up emergency contingencies so even when he does get out, he still won't get to any of you so long as I'm around."
Sam's eyes welled with tears as he nodded. "Thank you. For everything. I don't know what would have happened to us if you weren't here."
"And you'll never have to know because I'm not going anywhere. Now let's put the heavy stuff away for now and pick up dinner. Lord knows without your mothers cooking we'll starve."
Sam chuckled causing Shelby to as well. Things weren't alright and they might not be for a while but as long as they had each other everything was okay.
Rachel and Charlie were still sat on the porch. It has now been thirty minutes of complete silence and Charlie's mind was a mess.
She had so many things she wanted/needed to know. What was going on between Bianca and Skylar? What was going on between Quinn and Skylar? What was up with Rachel and Quinn?
She had held her tongue all week but at the moment she was feeling brave which caused her to do the unthinkable.
"Why have you been distant from Quinn?"
Rachel's head snapped in her direction with fire in her eyes.
"Mind your own damn business!" The brunette hissed in warning.
"No, I want to know! What has Quinn done to you other than be there for you!" Charlie growled back. All her pent-up anger pulling to the surface now finally having an outlet to point it towards.
"Fuck off!" Rachel growled as she stood up to walk away only for Charlie to get in her path, halting her steps.
"No, you fuck off Rachel! You walk around like you're entitled to my sister's attention but really, you're just a selfish asshole!"
Rachel scoffed in disdain.
"You're one to fucking talk! With the way you treat my sister it's no wonder she doesn't want to have shit to do with you! You're a walking bag of fucking psycho! In fact, you should be lucky my sister even looked your way!"
"No! You're lucky my sister took pity on you! No one even noticed you until she did and now you want to throw her kindness back in her face?! You act like she doesn't even exist?! You're a hypocrite!"
"And you're a fucking liar!"
"I'm not-"
"Yes, the hell you are! You think Skylar's going to want to be around you after what happened?" Rachel asked deadly.
The brunette felt herself changing from the person Quinn was slowly nourishing to the unforgiving cold-hearted snake she had become.
Regressing to protect herself.
"What?" Charlie asked defensively.
"Oh, you don't know, you poor sad little girl... Here let me make things a little clearer for you... She's going to be disgusted by you."
"No, Skylar wouldn't t-"
"But she will because you're dirty now Charlie." Rachel smirked wolfishly.
Rachel's words burned and Charlie felt herself choking on them. She felt her skin crawl at the word dirty.
"You're lying she-"
"Am I?"
For just a second Charlie felt the words consuming her but then she thought about Skylar and all that Skylar spoke through her actions and in that moment, she just knew it wasn't true. Charlie's eyes hardened.
"And you're just a piece of shit who doesn't deserve my sister's attention! You may sit here and act like you don't care but I've seen the way you look at her Rachel! I've seen those puppy dog eyes watch her when she isn't aware, and you know what I think? I think you're just upset because she-"
Before Charlie could go any further her head snapped to the left so hard, she could have sworn her father is the one that hit her but before she could react, she was tackled to ground with a furious Rachel on top of her.
"Fuck you!" Rachel growled as she lifted her fist to hit her again only for arms to wrap around her and pull her off. She thrashed in the person arms wildly.
"I'LL FUCKING KILL YOU BITCH!" Rachel screamed in fury at Charlie.
"RACHEL STOP PLEASE!" Quinn yelled fighting Rachel's thrashing body.
Skylar ran to help Charlie up, but Charlie stumbled from her grasp in fury. Her eyes ablaze and set on Rachel as her lip bled.
"LET HER FUCKING GO I'M NOT AFRAID OF HER!" Charlie shouted.
"CHARLIE SHE'S PREGNANT!" Quinn said in anger.
"WELL MAYBE SHE SHOULD ACT LIKE IT!"
Rachel shoved Quinn off of her sending the blonde on her ass then went for Charlie only the hit never touched Charlie because Skylar jumped in front of her taking the blow and shocking everyone.
Charlie stood wide eyed as did everyone else. Quinn rushed to Skylar's side to help her up, the blow knocking her to the ground.
"Skylar are you okay!" Quinn asked in a panick as she helped the brunette to her feet.
Skylar stood up and there was a fire in her eyes like no one has ever seen.
"ARE YOU FUCKING HAPPY NOW?! SERIOUSLY WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU TWO?! NO WONDER THE BOTH OF YOU ARE FUCKING MISERABLE! ALL YOU DO IS CAUSE PEOPLE PAIN!" Skylar yelled completely over Charlie and Rachel's bullshit. Skylar scoffed then rushed pass her sister shoulder checking her as she went.
Quinn looked at Charlie then Rachel disapprovingly.
She shook her. "You two deserve each other's company. Cause if you're not happy than no one can be it seems."
"Quinn, I didn't mea-"
"What Charlie? Didn't mean for this to happen? Cause guess what it just did, and you know what? I'm sick and tired of it. We already have so much going on and all the two of you have done is act like nothing but children ever since Skylar and I have become friends. It's like you want us to be unhappy because you are!"
Quinn's eyes cast Rachel's with fury. "And you... I get that you fly off the handle from time to time but the way you're acting for no reason is deplorable-"
"Fuck you, you d-" Rachel began but Quinn cut Rachel off getting in her face in a way she has never done before.
Rachel could see a difference in Quinn's eyes, they were flaming in warning for the brunette to watch her next words and actions 'cause it wouldn't end well for her. Rachel felt herself internally submit but her face never lost its fire. God she's never hated anyone so much for having so much power over her, just Quinn's presence alone was shutting her down, keeping her rooted where she stood, and it only made her angrier.
"No Rachel fuck you! I may not know what has happened to you but that's because of you and though I can try and try I may never know but that doesn't give you a right to hurt people! That doesn't give you a right to walk around like what you do doesn't affect the people around you because guess what?! It does! Yes, you had gone through a lot of shit that we may never understand but we are here, and we try, and we stay and for you to act the way that you are and do what you're doing is fucking disgusting! I'm sick of all of us having to walk on eggshells just because we're terrified, you'll leave! Grow up Rachel! Same for you Charlie! I don't know what secret you're hiding or why it's caused such a change in you, but you know what? You also need to grow up and actually talk to someone! Then maybe you both can heal from it! Until then the both of you stay the fuck away from my friend!"
With that Quinn stormed off leaving a pissed off Rachel and hurt Charlie in her wake.
Rachel turned her eyes to Charlie and Charlie locked eyes with her.
"This isn't over bitch." The brunette growled.
"I never said it was, just be happy you're pregnant but the second that baby pops out it's over."
"Why wait."
"Because unlike you, I have a heart."
Rachel's jaw clenched as Charlie stormed off.
Quinn stepped into the kitchen where Skylar was using a paper towel to wipe the blood from her lip.
"Here let me." Quinn said softly.
Quinn felt her heart break for her friend as tears streamed down Skylar's face. The blonde sat the brunette down and began helping her. Skylar hissed as it stung.
"Sorry." Quinn said softly.
Skylar huffed. "It's been a while, I forgot she hits like a damn Mack truck."
"Tell me about it."
The two chuckled at the truth of that statement. Rachel was unnaturally strong for such a tiny person.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah, it's nothing new unfortunately." Skylar sighed.
"Doesn't make it okay."
"And I'm not saying it is. Hell, I don't even know what to think at this point. I mean, why were they even fighting? They were just sitting together when we left."
Quinn shook her head. "I honestly have no idea what's up with those two. One minute they're okay with each other than the next it's World War three with them."
"The crazy part is I actually believe they could be good friends if they stop acting so..." Skylar trailed off searching for a word to describe their siblings.
"Hostile? Aggressive? Angry at the world? Yeah, that might not happen any time soon. As for how they began fighting, my guess is-only by observation of course- Charlie may have provoked it because Rachel only reacts. She never truly starts anything."
"Yeah, but what could Charlie have possibly said to make Rachel want to beat her to a pulp?"
"You're guess is as good as mine."
"I wish they'd just... I don't know-stop! Stop with all the crazy."
"I do too. I'm honestly over all of this. It's ridiculous because I know Rachel's keeping Charlie's secret."
Skylar raised an eyebrow in confused surprise. "What secret? Since when?"
"I don't know, hence it being a secret, but I was having dinner with Biff and Charlie called me in hysterics and told me to come home. Then when I got there Rachel's hand was bleeding. There was glass embedded in her knuckles and she claimed she punched a wall, but I could tell by Charlie's reaction and obviously from the glass stuck to her hand that she was lying."
"Wait hold on, you knew about her hand."
Quinn sighed in sad shame. "Yes, because I'm the one that stitched it."
"That was you?!"
"Yes, and I know it was wrong of me to keep my mouth shut-"
"Quinn, she caught an infection!" Skylar said disapprovingly.
"I know okay! But she refused to go to the hospital and by the way she acted it seemed like..."
"Like what?"
"Like she was scared!"
Skylar stood silent. She's known her sister to be a lot of things but scared isn't one of them. Scared and Rachel don't belong in the same sentence, like, ever. It didn't make sense.
"So, what did she say other than punching a wall?"
"Nothing but I said I knew if for whatever reason her hand was injured because of my sister she'd tell me but then it hit me clear as day with her silence that she wouldn't. It was then that I knew for sure that whatever happened had to do with Charlie."
"Wait so when was this?"
"Just when Charlie started acting weird with you. I could tell that whatever happened with Rachel had to be the cause because after that I noticed how she and Rachel would make eye contact. It was like they were communicating."
"What do you think it is?"
"I don't know but lately ever since then Charlie's been different and not just with you."
"This is ridiculous! Why won't she say anything?!"
"I don't know but it's not like her to keep secrets from me. Whatever it is has to be serious if she's even acting off with me because we don't keep secrets from each other."
"And you think Rachel knows for sure?"
"I'm more than positive she knows but for whatever reason she's keeping it under lock and key."
"But they just fought each other, if we hadn't come who knows what would have happened."
"Trust me, their behavior doesn't make sense to me either."
The two went silent for a moment.
"What if we tried to figure it out?" Skylar spoke in thought.
"How? There isn't a clue as to what happened, and I don't know if you've noticed but I'm pretty much on Rachel's shit list."
"Maybe we don't need to necessarily go to Rachel. Think about it. Charlie may be on and off with her mood swings but she's a lot easier to be calmed."
"True but how would we get her to open up. I mean, you said it yourself she hot and cold what else can we do?"
"Honestly, at this point I'm willing to do anything if it helps her get through it. I mean, look how it's affecting her. She's completely different."
Quinn nodded in thought. The blonde's mind thinking about her sister's mentality and what usually worked to get her to talk but none of those things could break the shield she has around herself. Her eyes cast to Skylar and slowly a plan began to come to fruition.
"You said you're willing to do anything?"
Skylar looked at Quinn and her eyes became serious. Was she willing to do anything? For Charlie? Hell yes! Because Skylar's not going to lie staying away from Charlie is pure torture. She wants the girl that she first met back not this shell of a person. She's also tired of the blonde's bullshit and she was ready to throw in towel but being divulged the information that Charlie and Rachel are sharing a secret that caused the shift in Charlie changed the game because that meant something's wrong. Especially since Rachel was injured because of it.
"Quinn when I say anything... I mean anything."
"You're sure?"
"I am."
"It would require you to be nice and pretend she hasn't hurt you."
"Trust me, it hurts more that she's acting like me touching her burns her skin. If I can get her pass this, then we can really work on our friendship and if things do progress from then then we could work on us but for now my best friend is hurting. I don't hate her. Honestly, the real problem between us is because she's acted the way she has ever since this started. Whatever secret this is, is the reason I'm even responding the way I am with her. Quinn..."
Skylar's eyes took on one of heartache in its truest form. She took a deep breath and spoke with an invisible weight on her chest.
"Quinn, you don't understand what she means to me. I thought that your dad would be the reason we could never be together but it's not. It's this secret. it's only came about when I touched her that day. Then when we went to take a nap, she..." Skylar's eyes slammed shut as she shook her head to rid her mind of the look in Charlie's eyes that day.
"What is it? What happened?"
"When she's asleep Quinn, she talks..." Skylar began her eyes watering causing Quinn's stomach to drop.
"About what exactly?"
"S-She says things like 'No! Please stop!' or 'I'm not ready!' then she cries! She tosses and turns before she bolts up then covers her mouth to stop herself from crying. She thinks I'm asleep, but I hear it and it makes me cry because I don't know what to do to help her. I know if I try to take care of her or ask her what's wrong, she'll only get upset just like Rachel does and I just-God Quinn I don't know what to do!" Skylar cries and Quinn immediately pulls her into a hug.
"Oh my god, what if?" Quinn trails off her eyes take on a faraway look as the cogs begin to turn in her brain and her stomach bottoms out at the implication those particular words may mean. Skylar pulls back.
"What is it? Quinn?"
"Skylar... I..." Quinn's mind begins to race. "Oh god!" Quinn bolts immediately with Skylar hot on her heels.
Shelby's driving toward the farmhouse when her eyes widen, and fear engulfs her.
"What the hell?" The brunette whispers.
Shelby pulls over and parks on the side of the road with her hazard lights on before hopping out and rushing across the street toward a very pissed off Rachel.
Now under normal circumstances she would have thought before acting. She would have considered the position she's about to put herself in.
However, due to the crippling fear of Rachel running away she didn't think. Especially with the look on Rachel's face.
"Rachel, sweetie what's wron-"
"AHHH!"
The moment Shelby reached out and grasp Rachel's arm. Rachel whipped around in fury and landed a solid right hook to her face causing the older woman cry out in pain by the power of it.
"Oh shit!" Sam yelp in surprise as he fought to get his seat belt off before bolting from the car.
"DON'T TOUCH ME BITCH!" Rachel screamed at her.
Normally Shelby wouldn't go down so easily. Normally Shelby would fight back till the death but not this time. Not against her own daughter.
Sam got to Rachel and immediately grabbed her pulling her away from Shelby as she continued to try to attack her mother. Shelby stood up, her face throbbing and nose bleeding with hurt filled tears in her eyes as she breathes heavily.
"RACHEL CALM DOWN!" Sam shouted as he held her strong before almost losing his grip after she elbowed his ribs, but he never let go.
"GET THE FUCK OFF ME YOU PIECE OF SHIT!"
"NO! NOT UNTIL YOU CALM DOWN!"
"I'M GOING TO BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF YOU!"
"I'M NOT LETTING YOU GO!"
"I HATE YOU SHELBY! I FUCKING HATE YOOOU!"
Shelby began crying more as she felt the hate pouring from her daughter in waves.
"Sam... Let her go." Shelby said softly. Just saying those words burned her.
"No! She'll hit you again!" Sam grunted.
"Oh look at that Shelby, you manage to get yourself a guard dog! Or better yet another child you won't actually be there for!"
Shelby's breath hitched at those words as they cut her deep like they were meant to.
"You shouldn't trust her Sammy-boy, she'll only disappear on your ass as soon as something better comes along!" Rachel said not struggling as much, becoming too tired to but didn't want to show it.
"Stop it, Rachel!" Sam said.
"It's the truth, she's just another piece of shit phony trying but fucking failing at life!"
Rachel saw her opportunity and stomped on Sam's foot causing him to loosen his grip good enough to shove him off before storming away.
Sam looked at Shelby and how broken she looked. The woman was rooted to her spot. Sam then looked at Rachel's retreating form and just knew if he didn't follow her. This time she wouldn't come back.
"Go home Shelby."
"Sam don't-"
"Just go, I'll text you soon." Sam jogged after the brunette, Shelby watching them go.
"SAM!" Shelby called out to the boy it was no use he wouldn't listen. "DAMMIT IT!"
"I've searched the house. Everything indicates what I've already said. Their gone Russ."
"No! This is bullshit! They must be at that bitches' house!"
"I already went to the Corcoran home. No one answered. I've been watching the place all week no one has come or left. The house is empty."
"You better find them Ken! Because so help me God when I get out of here-"
"Russell, I've already told you to stop talking like that in here. People-"
"I don't give a shit about these people! Find my wife and kids dammit or I'll have your fucking badge!"
With that Russell slammed the phone down in anger. Wherever Shelby's hiding he's going to find her and when he does no one will be able to stop him then.
"Get lost asshole!" Rachel growled as she continued to walk the long stretch of road.
"No. I'm not going anywhere."
"Fuck you."
"You can keep up the trash talk but I'm still following you."
"Go fuck yourself!"
"Why are you even so angry?!"
Rachel ignored him. Sam knew he was pissing her off, but he also knew that Shelby, Skylar and now Quinn wouldn't be able to get this close to her without her exploding. He had to follow her because lord knows where'd she go if he didn't.
"This is about Quinn and Skylar, isn't it?"
Sam knew before opening his mouth what a nerve he would strike. After watching what Rachel had done to Shelby, he was prepared. So, when Rachel whipped around in anger to hit him, he caught her fist mid swing and then caught her other before it could land it's hit.
They were eye to eye now.
"Just admit it Rachel you're jealous because you want Quinn but are too scared to say it."
"Fuck you, you're crazy!" Rachel growled.
"No, I'm honest, something you clearly struggle with!"
"Nobody wants your sorry ass pathetic sister!"
Sam smirked. "I'd believe that if you weren't walking around with heart every time she's near you!"
Rachel seethe in anger. "You and you're fucking psycho family can burn in hell for all care, now let fucking go of me!"
Rachel said as she kicked him in the shin causing him to yelp in pain as his hands lost their grip.
Rachel spun around to run but she only made it a few feet before the mother of all pain shot through her belly.
"AAAAHHHH!" The brunette screamed as she fell to her knees.
Sam's eyes widen as he rushed to her as fast as he could.
"Rachel?! Rachel what's wrong?!" Sam spoke in worry.
But Rachel continued to scream. Her eyes burning with tears, her face beet red as her body folded in on itself and she curled into a ball clenching her belly.
Sam stood up to grab his phone from his pocket but before he could go any further Rachel's hand grabbed his forearm in a death grip.
"P-Pleeeaaassseee m-make it stoo-ooo-ppp!" The brunette cried brokenly.
"Where could she be?" Skylar thought out loud as she and Quinn entered the house.
"I don't know but I'm getting extremely worried." Quinn said.
They had walked the 7-acre land but still hadn't found Charlie nor had they seen Rachel. Just then they heard crying and rushed toward the sound. There standing with dried blood on her face was Shelby.
"Mom?!" Skylar said in alarm rushing to her mother. "Mom, what happened?!"
"Shelby are you okay?"
Shelby looked at the girls and it was the first time Quinn has ever seen the woman so broken.
Skylar knew by the look in her mother's eyes that it had to do with Rachel.
"Where is she?" She asked in anger.
"Skylar, it was my fault."
"How is this your fault?!"
"I grabbed her and-"
"No! This is ridiculous! It's getting out of hand!"
"Rachel did this to you?" Quinn asked in subtle shock.
She knew they had explained to her how violent Rachel had been but hearing and seeing the proof of it in person are two very different things.
"I saw her walking on the main road and she looked so angry. I panicked, I thought she was running away so I went after her. I shouldn't have touched her, but I wasn't thinking."
"Where is Rachel now?!" Skylar asked.
"Sam went after her. I told him not to, but he went anyway and now I'm waiting here for him to call and I... God, I don't know what to do anymore! I don't know how to fix this! I-I can't change the past if I could I would okay?! I know it's my fault that you both suffered because I wasn't there, but I couldn't-"
"Shh-Shh! I know mom-"
"I'm sorry! God I'm so sooorrryyy!" Shelby cried.
"Mom, it's not your fault you didn't know. You couldn't have known. There was no way for you to be there." Skylar tried but Shelby kept crying.
Quinn didn't know the story so there was nothing she could say or do but she was definitely not happy with Rachel. Just then Shelby's phone rang. The brunette scrambled to answer it.
"Sam?!"
"SHELBY?!" Sam yelled over Rachel's scream as the sounds of an ambulance approaching could be heard in the background.
"Oh god, Sam what's wrong?! What's happening?!"
"I-I-I don't know she just collapsed and started screaming that it hurts!"
"I'm on my way!"
Shelby hung up and bolted through the house to her car with Quinn and Skylar hot on her heels.
"Mom?! What's wrong?!"(Skylar)
"What happened?!"(Quinn)
"Girls stay here-"
"No, we're coming with you!" Skylar fired back.
"No, you aren't you two stay with Judy, I'll call you in a few!" Shelby said as she shut the car door and started the engine leaving behind two terrified/angry girls.
"Sa-Saaam!" Rachel cried as the ambulance jostled.
Sam immediately took her hand again. The two locked eyes one full of immense pain and the other full of worry for the girl before him.
"I'm right here with you Rachel, you hear me? I'm not going anywhere just stay with me. Please stay with me."
Sam's eyes were pouring with tears as Rachel's eyes began to lose focus.
"RACHEL STAY WITH ME!"
