Hey everyone,
Remember how I mentioned the length of last chapter in both of my top and bottom AN? What was I even thinking? This chapter is more than likely going to way longer, maybe even twice as long. Also, to make things easier to understand, did I decide that I am going to stop making these chapters in Sora's POV from now on.
Hope that helps,

Chapter 38
Friends And Bosses
30th of January 1996
Destiny's Haven
Jessica's POV
"Okay, I'm not going to lie, you are going to both love and hate this part – and probably hate a lot of the parts that follow after this." Sora tells us, even though we only just saw that he had somehow arrived in this new world safely and dad and I both look at him with a look that says: "You're not helping your case here."
"How?" Dad then asks and Sora shrugs, who is actually looking quite comfortable as he sits between Riku's legs, Riku's lower legs wrapped around his as he says: "I do get new friends that really know how to fight and that help me greatly on my journey – but I also encounter the first of what I have come to call World Bosses, which are like the strongest Heartless of that world. They are, well, they are like that huge one from before.
Though most of them aren't even half as large and they all have a weak spot." Sora quickly says at the end, yet dad is still heavily worried and I don't feel any different. "And you will meet these new friends, Donald and Goofy, before encountering this boss?" And Sora nodding in confirmation relieves us both greatly.
We then turn to the video, which had paused at the sight of Pluto slowly approaching Sora, who was leaning against the alley wall, hidden from most of the public view by a couple of crates. My brother gets woken by a lick from the dog, yet he still seems quite out of it and almost falls back asleep as he mumbles: "What a dream."
Yet Pluto jumps him and this fully wakes my brother up as he yelps: "This isn't a dream." He stands up and looks around, the camera turning away and showing how the end of the alleyway is blocked off by a wooden wall that has a few posters on it and how the night sky is lit up with stars above it as Sora asks: "Where am I?"
The camera then shows the entrance to the alleyway, alongside a crate that can help someone up to the higher part of the street as Sora mutters: "Oh boy." The camera then focuses back on Pluto as Sora bends down to his level and asks: "Do you know where we are?" Yet Pluto suddenly hears something and actually dashes off.
Sora gets startled by this, yet other than reaching out an arm and shouting: "Hey!" Does he not do much. He then moves out of the alleyway and this is followed by a panning shot showing the courtyard where we saw Donald and Goofy look up as the star of Destiny Island went out. And as Sora sees this, he says:
"This is totally weird. I'm in another world!" He then seems to explore the courtyard a bit and even talks with a small creature that reaches up to his knee, is completely made of white fur, has slitted eyes and has a large red ball sticking out of his forehead, held up by only a small and thin little string. The being says:
"The First District is the only safe place, Kupo." And this both worries and confuses me. Dad and I turn to Sora and he says: "Kupo is just what Moogles like him call – well, everyone. And he means that the other Districts have Heartless spawning in them. There is a hotel in the Second District, but that's only safe from time to time.
Though there is also Merlin and Leon's home in the Third District. Those are also safe from the Heartless. I think it has something to do with either the fact that Traverse Town is located in between Light and Darkness or it's more of Merlin's magic." And while I feel excited over seeing Merlin on screen, do I turn back.
Sora then moves into an open bar that has tables and chairs all covered by a house and balcony that is stationed above it like a roof and in the back there is a chest that is quite like the one we saw in Sora's Dive Into the Heart. Yet when Sora reaches it, does it just stay closed, even as Sora summons his Keyblade and taps it.
"Right, some chests required certain tasks to be fulfilled before they could open. I opened that one after visiting a few other worlds." My brother says and we watch as he leaves it and moves into the Accessory shop. There we see a Save point in the right of the store and the store owner standing behind a counter on the left.
The man is blond and has spikes standing up to the front of his head, wears a pair of goggles over his forehead and wears a white shirt with a thick brown belt and a pair of jeans that reach to just below his knees. Under this he wears thick grey socks and a pair of black boots. The man is looking at a cased gem but turns to Sora as he walks in.
Yet as the camera shows all this, can I not help but notice the strange green triangle mark that is on the floor in the middle of the store, just in front of a large case showing all kinds of small metal tools. Yet I ignore it for the sake of the conversation that plays out. "Hey there, how can I … Aw, it's only a kid." To this dad says:
"Wow, that man's just as rude as Donald. Do you know a lot of people like that?" And my brother answers: "I met so many, I'm pretty sure there were one or two more who were like that." And while I feel quite envious that my brother got to make so many friends, do I hear his movie version say: "I'm not a kid! And the name's Sora."
"Was that really the best thing to do?" I can't help but ask and Sora answers: "I was young, naïve, inexperienced and going off the notion that I was still in the First District." At which I nod as the man says: "Okay, okay, simmer down. So why the long face, Sora? You lost or somethin'?" And I can tell by his voice that he cares.
"No! Well, maybe. Where are we?" Sora asks and the man seems befuddled at this before suddenly the screen turns black for a second. When it returns, the camera is now behind the man and Sora is the one saying: "Traverse Town … So gramps, is this really another world?""Forget what I said before, you were as rude as he was."
Dad admonishes my brother and he looks down as the man in the video says: "Don't call me gramps! The name's Cid! Anyway … Not sure what you're talkin' about, but this sure ain't your island." Which turns Sora thoughtful as he says: "Hmm … Guess I'd better start looking for Riku and Kairi." And Cid replies:
"Well, good luck with whatever it is you're doing. If you ever run into trouble, you come to me. I'll look out for you." Sora thanks him for this, steps onto the safe point, obviously to get some health back and then leaves the store. He moves up the staircases that go around the building and heads over to a large pair of doors.
"The Second District?" I ask and my brother nods as he says: "I had the Keyblade and I needed to find Riku and Kairi." Which makes me feel a little better yet as Sora enters the District, does the camera suddenly focus on a man that seems to be running from something. Yet he trips and makes a turn, falling on his back.
A look of pure utter terror is on his face and suddenly, to the horrifying shock of my father and me, do we see a light erupt from his chest before a crystallized version of his heart floats up. The man himself vanishes in a strange purple light, while his heart seems to get sucked into a black orb that has dark purple swirling around it.
And this merging actually turns the heart into some kind of mechanical toy soldier that looks to have been hit with a badly cast Animation spell. The being also has a black heart with a cross struck through the center on his chest and jumps, rolling in on itself as it vanishes in the same black hole with rings that it came from.
Sora runs at where it happened, yet gets surrounded by five small Shadows at which he exclaims: "It's those creatures from the island!" And he fights them all of, some of them managing to evade his attacks by slinking into the ground and others hitting him in the back, but the green orbs they drop seem to restore Sora as he picks them up.
"I really don't know how I feel about this." Dad then suddenly says and he goes on: "On one hand I really don't like seeing you under attack by anything, on the other do I easily see that, thanks to those dropped orbs, you are staying in better shape and have a better chance against ambushes like this than if you were in a Wizard's duel."
"And don't forget that he'll be meeting Donald and Goofy soon, too. That'll give him some back-up against the Heartless and other creatures." I tell dad, who nods in relief and we go back to watching the movie. We watch as Sora moves across the District, taking the outer ring that is elevated a few feet from the inner courtyard.
He encounters two more clusters of Shadows and manages to beat both of them, yet when he enters a door at the end of the pathway, does the camera move over to a set of doors that he passed, from which Donald and Goofy come out, looking around as Donald asks: "Hmph. Where is he?" And Goofy calls out: "Leeeooon!"
Yet then the camera focuses back on Sora and the room that he is in makes me think: "If either Fred or George saw this place, they'd think they were in heaven." As there are all kinds of clocks and other weird contraptions at work all over the room, which has another elevated stage just slightly under the ceiling that is Sora's height.
Here too Sora encounters the Heartless, yet then it seems to happen in some kind of order. And to my dad's concern, does it seem that, for every Shadow Sora slashes down, another two take its place. Yet Sora seems to realize this as well and leaves the house from the other side, leaving the Heartless behind him.
He jumps down from the small side alley that is the only part of that bit of elevated height and then enters the courtyard. Here more Heartless appear, yet Sora dodges these and uses a bench to get back onto the elevated outer ring. He then enters another set of doors that he passed earlier and yet again the camera pans away as he does.
It focuses on the large doors leading to District one and shows Donald and Goofy still searching for Leon. "Doesn't look like he's here." Goofy says, looking around, yet Donald glares at him and crosses his arms as he says: "Keep looking." And while he taps his foot impatiently, does Goofy walk out of the view of the camera.
The scene focuses back on Sora, who moves through the entire hallway and tries several doors, each of them different colored, each of them with a number on them – a 3, a 2 and a 1 – and each of them locked. "That's the Hotel I mentioned. You'll see later why it's only safe to be there some of the time." My brother tells us.
Sora then leaves the hotel and actually ends up where we saw Donald and Goofy the first time the camera went from Sora to them. He again jumps down the elevated part, actually jumping over Heartless that appear there and moves into one of the two small alleyways that is located at right side of the courtyard.
This one turns back to the direction of the large set of doors, but then on the other side of the houses on that side of the courtyard. And while one set of doors there is locked, is another set – this one with a large sign indicating it to lead to District 3 – unlocked and Sora passes through, leaving more Heartless behind.
Yet District Three is as safe as District Two as Sora instantly gets attacked by a small horde of Shadows, yet he seems to have their pattern down by now and manages to beat them all without being hit once. This district also has two sections with one being elevated and above the other and another also being elevated behind a fountain.
Sora moves over to the fountain that is in the North-west corner of the courtyard and encounters more Heartless there. He beats them all and as he does, can I tell that he again got stronger. He moves through the entire District and yet again, I notice a weird triangle on the ground on the elevated platform behind the fountain.
Yet while I also notice the difference between this one and the other one – this one being blue where the other was green – does Sora seem uninterested and does he just seem focused on searching the entire District. Yet when it's obvious that there is nothing in the district but a closed door with a flame on it and Heartless, does he leave.
He returns to the Second District and this time moves over to the other side alley that is in the far back on the right of the District. And as he opens the large, glass-stained doors, does the camera again move over to focus on Donald and Goofy, who seem to have just left the crazy store that Sora was in the first time this happened.
"Not here, either." Donald groans, taking the same stance as when he told Goofy to keep looking and Goofy mumbles: "This could take a while.""I really hope not." Dad moans and Sora says: "Don't worry, I am actually the first to meet Leon and I do that quite soon after this." Dad sighs in relief at hearing this and we watch on.
The scene focuses back on Sora, but it also shows two sad-looking Dalmatians that are in front of the window next to the door that Sora is in front of. "Those are Pongo and Perdita. They're the parents of 99 puppies. Well, they were the parents of only 15, but then they adopted 84 others that were kidnapped by someone."
I say in shock and Sora seems to find a letter that explains this, alongside something shocking. "The 99 puppies were lost amid the chaos of their world's destruction. Find them in various worlds." This shocks and horrifies me as I wonder: "Could Cruella's need to have those puppies skinned for their coat have caused the world's destruction?" Yet then my brother lies a comforting hand on my own and I sigh in relief before I continue watching.
The movie shows Sora looking around the room before he leaves and while he traverses through the Second District, does he obviously train on the Heartless that appear there, getting stronger and looking to gain some extra buff that I can only imagine will help keep him safe from minor attacks and the like, dad smiling in relieved pride as he probably realizes the same.
Yet when he passes into the First District, do dad and I gasp as the place actually has a small horde of Shadows waiting for him. "That was the only time that happened, I promise." My brother quickly tells me and we sigh in relief as he deals with them quite well before entering another store that is on the right of Cid's.
There we see three younger duckies that have a red, green and blue hat and shirt on respectively. "Huey, Dewie and Louie. Those are Donald's younger nephews. In Disney's version they're always up to mischief, are part of the scouting organization called the Junior Woodchucks – at least in the comics, can never sit still and always try to have fun, even if it is sometimes at Donald's expense – or to unleash his temper."
I smile as I watch one of them, the blue-wearing one welcoming Sora and then asking if he wants to buy something. This worries me, but then my brother says: "Remember how some of those Shadows dropped yellow orbs instead of green ones? Those are called Munny – don't ask. It's what all the worlds use to pay for stuff and objects."
"One currency for all worlds? That's pretty neat." I mutter and dad smiles slightly as he sees how Sora can only afford one Potion, because he only gathered 107 Munny. "It's better than nothing. And you still had those other few Potions and Hi-Potions left, so I'm not too worried." He mutters, showing a slightly fake sense of calm.
Sora then moves from this store to the Accessory shop where he meets up with Cid. "Still haven't found 'em? Keep your chin up. Take another look around town.""He just went through the entire world. Why is he saying that?" Dad asks in agitation, yet as Sora leaves, do we get to see first hand why that was.
"They'll come at you out of nowhere." A deep masculine voice of someone clearly in his twenties says and Sora, who seems to draw out the Keyblade out of the instinct now, turns to the stairs leading up as he asks: "Who are you?" And a man with a leather jacket that has a red symbol on the back blocks the camera as he says:
"And they'll keep on coming at you, as long as you continue to wield the Keyblade." Yet while the camera turns to show that the man wears a white shirt and grey leather jeans under his jacket, does it only stay at chin height, not showing his eyes even as he aims a finger straight at Sora, the camera focusing on him as the man does.
The camera then focuses back on the man, proving the previous shot was just to emphasize his words and he asks: "But why? Why would it chose a kid like you?" And at this dad and I turn to my brother as he says: "It gets explained over the course of – most of my journeys. Partly at the end of this one too, I believe."
We nod as Sora angrily asks the man: "Hey, what's that supposed to mean?" Yet the man seems careless as he walks towards Sora and says: "Never mind. Now, let's see that Keyblade." And Sora instantly turns defensive as he grips his weapon with both hands and says: "What? There's no way you're getting this!"
And the man himself, the camera finally showing his greyish colored eyes, draws a weapon that is shaped like a longsword, but that actually has a gun handle and pin for a handle, which really worries me. "He only used the sword part. Leon's tough, but he's not a killer. The gun part is only for the Heartless." My brother comforts me.
I sigh in relief at this and watch the fight as Leon starts by saying : "All right, then have it your way." Yet it's proven within a few minutes that, even with his bit of training on the Islands and in the other Districts, Sora is just no match for Leon. He gets knocked out and falls out cold on the lowest courtyard of the District.
Then, as Leon watches over my fallen brother, do we hear a voice that really reminds me of Tonks as it says: "Hey, you found it. Nice going, Leon." And Leon turns around to see a girl just a few years older than me standing behind him. The girl wears brown shoes, white thigh-length socks, brown shorts and a very small green top.
She has black fishnet gloves on her arms and wears a pair of brown gloves over this. Her top is held up by a pair of leather straps with a belt and buckle each and she wears a yellow scarf and grey headband over her forehead. The girl has almost the same eye-color as Leon and has her hands set into her hips as she looks at her friend.
"Still … It looks like things are worse than we thought. A lot worse.""Should I be worried he said that?" Dad asks in worry as the camera focuses on an unconscious Sora before turning dark and my brother sighs as he grumbles: "He just meant how inexperienced I am. He didn't like the fact that I had a Keyblade of all weapons."
Dad frowns at this and yet he doesn't get much chance to focus on this as suddenly the camera refocuses, showing us a brick road made of square, dark grey bricks and as it moves over these, does it suddenly show a familiar black glove before showing Riku waking up. And this actually shocks Riku, but relieves my dad.
The scene goes one step further by showing us Riku waking up from his own eyes and to my amazement, does he see waterfalls of which the water is moving upwards instead of down. The camera then goes back to focusing on Riku in Third Person as he gets up and seems really confused as he asks: "Where … am I?"
He looks around, the camera moving alongside his movement and showing us that he is in a large area that is surrounded by waterfalls, all of them having the same strange effect of the water going up instead of down and also shows us several platforms with large thorns sticking out the bottom that are floating at various heights.
The camera then goes back to focusing on Riku as he calls for my brother and his best friend before it pans away from him, going past all the platforms until it reaches the one highest above the others. And there I see someone with a very familiar black robe that is torn at the edges, a pale hand and sharp purple nails moving closer.
I turn to Riku in shock and he sighs as he says: "I was lost, desired the outside world and – was at my stupidest yet." But to this Sora turns around and pulls his legs up, making himself as small as possible and cuddling his whole form against his mate as he says: "But in the end, you became stronger than you could have ever been if we had done this together. Not to mention – well, you know how I feel about that outfit of yours."
And while I worry for what Maleficent could have planned for my brother's mate, does Riku seem comforted and reassured, wrapping one arm around my brother's legs that are pulled up to his chest and using his other to caress my brother's hair as we turn back to the video. The scene seems to return to Traverse Town, but then to a side alley that Sora hasn't been to yet. And it seems to believe that it's time for another reunion with Donald and Goofy.
The two are walking through this alleyway, part of the road blocked off by two small creaks and a shed and Goofy says: "Garwsh, there's nobody here. Sure is spooky!" And then Donald behaves like I have always known him to as he bravely says: "Aw phooey, I'm not scared." Only to jump and yelp as he gets tapped on the shoulder.
And while I laugh at hearing his famous signature yell, does he jump on Goofy's back, just as a calm, sweet voice curiously asks: "Excuse me. Did the king send you?" And the two turn to a nice looking young woman with pointed ears, brown hair that is partially in braids and partially tied up and green eyes that are almost like my old ones.
The woman is wearing a leather pink dress that has buttons all the way down and has a few at the bottom loose, along with a soft purple belt that hangs off her left hip and black boots with brown accents. Yet it's the woman's sweet, almost motherly kind of smile that the camera focuses on as the scene turns dark once more. "I like her. Turn her hair red and she could pose as Lily's twin sister." Dad says and I tilt my head before realizing that the man's right.
Yet while the screen is dark, does a voice still speak and say: "Come on, lazy bum. Wake up." And we focus on Sora waking up on a bed in a room that I can only imagine is inside the hotel my brother spoke of earlier, shaking his head before, to my own and my dad's relief, we see Kairi standing next to him as she gently asks: "You okay?" And Sora, who still seems a little out of it, says: "I guess." Nodding as he does.
"Those creatures that attacked you are after the Keyblade. But it's your heart they really want, because you wield the Keyblade." Yet while I can't help but notice something weird with the strength of the video screen, does Sora say: "I'm so glad that you're okay, Kairi." Only for the answer to fall in my lap as Kairi says:
"Kairi? Who are you talking about? I'm the great ninja, Yuffie." And while this confuses Sora, does the screen light up for a short second before we see the girl from before standing in Kairi's place, bowed over with her hands on her knees and her head tilted slightly as she turns away and says: "I think you might have overdone it, Squall."
And while I can now tell that the screen is a lot sharper, does Leon walk into the view of the camera and say: "That's Leon." Which intrigues me and my brother says: "He and the others aren't originally from Traverse Town. Leon feels bad because he wasn't able to defend his homeworld from the darkness, so he abandoned his old name."
"I know how that feels." Dad mutters, respect clear in his voice as the camera turns from Leon's back to the Keyblade, which seems to somehow be able to lean against a door frame, but still look pretty powerful. And Sora seems just as in awe about this as he mutters the weapon's name before the camera focuses back on Yuffie.
"Yeah, we had to get it away from you to shake off those creatures. It turns out that's how they were tracking you." And instantly dad turns to my brother and Riku in alarm, but Riku says: "Don't worry, Sirius. I'm pretty sure Lady Destiny warded this place against that before she brought us here. She even evicted Maleficent, remember?"
Dad nods in relief and we focus back on the video as Leon says: "It was the only way to conceal your heart from them. But it won't work for long. Still hard to believe that you of all people are the chosen one." And as Leon says this does he grab and swing the Keyblade, actually causing it to vanish from his hand in a bright light.
And the blade then returns to Sora, startling him as he instinctively grabs the hilt yet again, lying it on his lap. "Well, I suppose beggars can't be choosers.""And I suppose you need to give my son an actual chance before you start judging him." Dad growls, but my brother smirks and says: "Don't worry, I proved myself just fine a little bit later."
Yet this only worries dad instead of reassuring him and we turn to the video as Sora asks: "Why don't you start making sense! What's going on here?" Yet it's neither Leon nor Yuffie who answer him as the camera instead focuses on the girl Donald and Goofy met, who seems to be in another room not far from Sora's and asks:
"Okay, you know there are many other worlds out there besides your castle and this town, right?" And Donald confirms this before Goofy wraps his hands around his muzzle as he says: "But they're supposed to be a secret." And to this the girl answers: "They've been secret, because they've never been connected. Until now.
When the Heartless came, everything changed." And at this the scene returns to Sora, who asks: "The Heartless?""Wait, are both groups having the same conversation?" Dad asks and my brother nods at him as Yuffie answers: "The ones who attacked you, you remember?" And Leon goes on: "Those without hearts."
The darkness in people's hearts – that's what attracts them." And Leon darkly finishes: "And there is darkness in every heart." Which makes my brother cuddle closer to Riku, who had grimaced at this. Yet then Yuffie suddenly changes the topic and asks: "Hey, have you heard of someone named Ansem?" Startling us.
The scene changes to Goofy, who curiously asks: "Ansem?" Actually emphasizing both parts of the name as the elven girl says: "He was studying the Heartless. He recorded all of his findings in a very detailed report." At which Goofy happily asks her: "Garwsh, uh, can we see it?" But the girl shakes her head and says:
"Its pages are scattered everywhere.""Scattered?" Donald asks in shock and she answers: "To many worlds." To this Goofy makes a fist that he slams into his other hand as he says: "Oh, then maybe the king went to find 'em." And Donald nods as the young woman confirms this and says: "Yes, those were my thoughts exactly."
"We've gotta find him quick!" Goofy says, yet then we get a huge shock as the camera focuses on the bit of space between him and Donald at his height, but Donald says: "Wait." And then actually grabs the screen and pulls it so that the camera focuses on him as he says: "First, we need that "key." And we all shake our heads at this. "Well, I guess that's what people meant when they say some characters break the fourth wall or something." I think to myself.
"Well, that happened." Dad mumbles at the same time that the young woman on the bed says: "That's right. The Keyblade." And at this the scene turns back to Sora's conversation as he holds up the Keyblade and asks: "So … this is the key?" And Yuffie nods as she says: "Exactly." Before Leon goes on and tells my brother:
"The Heartless have great fear of the Keyblade. That's why they'll keep coming after you, no matter what." And Sora proves his inexperience as he says: "Well, I didn't ask for this." To which I think: "Welcome to my life." As Yuffie retorts: "The Keyblade choses its master. And it chose you." And Leon leans against the door as he ends it all: "So, tough luck."
Yet to this Sora asks: "How did all this happen? I remember being in my room …" Yet here he jumps up and asks: "Wait a minute! What happened to my home? My island? Riku! Kairi!" And he sounds more depressed as he finishes his questions. And Leon doesn't make things any better for him as he carelessly mutters:
"You know what? I really don't know." Making Sora look down and making dad glare at the screen. Sora then seems to pull himself together as he moves over to the fancy looking chest that is on top of the table in the middle of the room and as he opens it, does he get something that is round, golden and has small hills on top.
"That's an elixir. It heals both my health and restores my magic. I was always very spare with those as they were much rarer than hi-potions or anything else." My brother explains and dad mutters: "Good. You can use all the help you can get." To which my brother says: "Oh yeah, it's right after this that I meet Donald and Goofy."
Making us both sigh in relief as the camera focuses on Leon, who says: "Yuffie, let's go join Aerith. She should be there by now with the other visitors." Only for Yuffie to gasp in shock and aim for the door as she exclaims his name.
And the animated soldier that we saw vanish earlier actually appears at the point that Yuffie is aiming at. "Yuffie, go!" Leon shouts, at which Yuffie runs for the door that he was previously leaning against. And to my actual amusement – and amazement that these two conversations were going on at the same time with only a door apart – does it seem as if Donald just wanted to open the door from the other side, getting smacked by it instead.
Yuffie runs past the woman who I now know is Aerith, who exclaims her friend's name in shocked confusion and runs after her. "Sora, let's go!" Leon says, swinging his own weapon while Sora has both hands on the Keyblade and is standing behind him. And the next shot is of the soldier being shot through the window.
Leon jumps out after it and Sora actually follows. Yet as he does, do we see this happen from the doorway leading to the other room and the camera then focuses on the room that Donald and Goofy were in, Goofy walking over to the slammed door as it closes and shows Donald, plastered against the wall, beak wide open. "He has that kind of bad luck a lot, doesn't he?" I ask and my brother nods, me giggling and muttering: "Typical Donald."
The scene then focuses on Sora and Leon, who are actually surrounded by four of the Soldiers, yet Leon says: "Don't bother with the small fry. Find the leader. Let's go!" Yet as he says this and runs off, does Sora actually disobey him, fighting off all four of the Soldiers, who seem more nimble and are jumping a lot more.
"I felt scared. I was worried the leader would be on Leon's level and didn't want to lose another fight. I had recognized by then that I was getting stronger the more I defeated the Heartless, so I tried making sure I was better prepared first." My brother tells us and I mutter: "Moody would be proud to hear you say that."
At which dad, who has sighed in relief at hearing this, nods in agreement and we watch as Sora fights off Shadow and Soldier Heartless, for some reason heading from the Second District to the Third. And as he beats down some of the Soldier Heartless, do they actually drop four more potions, which Sora instantly snatches up himself. He also lights up again as he beats the last one and I think: "He's must be quite the level by this point."
Yet as he takes the staircase down to the courtyard of the Third District, does the camera instead focus on how, somehow, Donald and Goofy managed to find a balcony above all this. Goofy almost falls over the edge as he runs and then turns around as two soldiers appear, one in each of the corners of the balcony that is shaped like an L.
Goofy pulls out a shield that is made of rings of grey metal with Mickey's head symbolized on the front and asks: "Garwsh, are these the Heartless guys?" And Donald holds a staff that has a witch's hat at the top end and a red gem at the bottom and swishes it as he says: "Let's go get 'em, Goofy." Yet I already know what'll happen next.
"Don't cast – I knew it." I mutter as an explosion of magic blows the two off of the balcony and – somehow – right on top of Sora, who looks up shocked and tries to run, but gets landed on all the same. And while all three groan at this, do the two actually not notice where they are as they instead yell: "The key!" Looking at the Keyblade that's in Sora's hand.
"Yeah, you found it. Now get off of my son, please!" Dad snaps angrily and I notice my brother wince as he asks: "Remember what I said about who I would meet in here?" To which I groan and ask: "Boss time?" And my brother nods, making all four of us worriedly look at the screen. And it seems the world knows it's Boss Time as well.
To my great concern do I notice the screen shaking like crazy, as if an earthquake is striking District Three before several large pillars of concrete actually block all exits, even the one to the locked door and the one leading to the elevated platform that has the strange blue mark on the ground. And on top of each pillar, one Soldier appears.
"Well, at least you're getting some time to practice fighting alongside others." Dad moans and then sighs in relief when he notices that, just as Sora slays the last Heartless, Goofy actually throws him a potion, helping him regain the little bit of health that he lost. Yet just when Sora seems to want to examine the pillars, does it happen.
Several loose bits of armor, two arms two feet and a piece that covers the chest to hip area, that is all white with black, yellow, blue and red accents and that has the same symbol as the Soldiers on its chest appears before a helmet lands on top. And without any strings, flesh or anything else does the whole thing seem to remain connected.
Yet each piece also seems most in tune with a similar piece, the legs working best together even without the body above it and the arms able to spin around like crazy and reach quite far in order to punch all three that try to fight it. And while Sora first tries to attack the middle, do the other parts constantly push him to defense.
Then Goofy breaks the first leg and to my shock does this cause for a cascade of green orbs to flow from where the leg was destroyed. Instantly all three soak up as many of these as they can, yet while Donald still doesn't look full health, do they then start to focus on one part each, defending each other when the body attacks.
This strategy really seems to work and while I do, from time to time, worry about Donald's obvious lack of defensive skill, do I then get a new reason to grip the couch I share with dad in worried concern. As the arms and legs, both having dropped enough orbs to heal Sora and Goofy back to full health and Donald up a bit as well, are beaten, does the body start to spin on its axis even crazier than the arms did previous and does it body slam the three.
They try to evade this by rolling and jumping, but I can tell they lose a lot of health every time they get hit. And just when dad and I are at the end of our nerves as I think: "Soldiers and Shadows are fine, but this is ridiculous. This is Voldemort's levels of a fight." Does Sora strike the body one last time and does the body seem to shake for a completely new reason, Sora, Donald and Goofy standing together like a team in front of it.
The helmet falls off and a bright light starts to shine from the top of the armor before a heart, similar to that of the man from before, erupts from the body. And apparently the body itself can't exist without the heart as it just vanishes in purple light and white stars. Yet it also seems to leave some kind of weird ring behind as well that falls on the ground below it.
"The Brave Warrior. It raises my health level as well as my strength. I wore it for the better part of that journey, though I did have to give it to Donald from time to time." My brother tells us and I silently think: "I really hope that duck does something about his defensive weakness." Yet I feel relieved and calmed down all the same.
"You're siblings, alright. Neither of you knows what it means to make friends the normal way." Dad then tells us, his voice a mix of humor and exasperation, yet also with an undertone of relief and concern and we both turn red and mumble an apology before we all focus back on the movie as the screen focuses back on Sora.
"So, you were looking for me?" Sora asks, the camera showing that the pillars have receded back into the ground and Donald and Goofy both nod. Leon and Yuffie then appear behind Sora and Leon says: "They too have been seeking the wielder of the Keyblade." And Yuffie nods at this before Goofy happily tells Sora:
"Hey, why don't you come with us? We can go to other world on our vessel." Yet Sora seems hesitant, which slightly confuses me as that is the whole reason he wanted to leave the islands in the first place as he says: "I wonder if I could find Riku and Kairi …" To which Donald happily says: "Of course." Startling Sora before Goofy asks: "Are you sure?" And even my brother seems shocked as Donald actually turns derisive and says:
"Who knows? But we need him to come with us to help us find the king.""Thanks a lot, Donald. I'll be sure to remember that next time we meet." My brother angrily snaps and then the voice of Lady Destiny says: "I will allow a meeting between friends, once you have reached the first half of your journey, Sora dear."
"How much longer is that?" I ask, wanting to see both my mother and Lea again with great need and wanting to see if I can do some more girly discussions with perhaps some of the Chaser girls or even Hermione and Sora thinks as he says: "I'm pretty sure – it's only three more worlds. And one of them is only a tournament, not much."
This makes me turn to the screen in anxious excitement, my inner Kitsune kirring with excitement over being with its mate again sometime soon and I listen as Leon steps up and says: "Sora, go with them. Especially if you want to find your friends." And yet Sora still seems quite unsure as he looks down and mumbles: "Yeah, I guess." Yet to this Donald says: "But you can't come along looking like that, understand?
No frowning. No sad face. Okay?" To which Goofy laughs and says: "Yeah, you gotta look funny, like us!" And Donald pushes him away as he says: "This boat runs on happy faces." And the way my brother cringes at this makes me look at him strangely as he says: "Just watch." And groans again, hiding his face in Riku's chest as Sora mumbles: "Happy?"
The camera zooms in on everyone looking at Sora, who then looks up and the crazy large smile that is on his face, his eyes tilted upwards startles me before it makes me chortle down, trying to hold back on how ridiculous it looks. The same doesn't count for Donald and Goofy who both laugh hard as the latter of the two says:
"That's one funny face!" And this seems to both cheer Sora up and convince him as he says: "Okay, why not? I'll go with you guys." And Donald reaches out his hand as he says: "Donald Duck." Goofy then does the same, his just above Donald's as he says: "Name's Goofy." And Sora reaches out his own as he says: "I'm Sora."
And as the three slap their hands together, does Goofy say: "All for one, one for all." And this time the screen turns black while showing the symbol of a keyhole that shrinks down on itself. Yet while this makes me believe that this part of the video is over, do I get proven wrong as instead it focuses on the three yet again.
Yet the way they are shown makes me frown as it proves someone is using magic to spy on them. A pentagram of one circle in the middle, surrounded by two others and with four similar but smaller circles at each point that indicates in which direction the wind can blow is shown on top of a large slab of concrete.
And as the camera pans out, does another eerily familiar voice say: "That little squirt took down that Heartless! Who'd have thought it?" And while the camera focuses on this person, who is clouded in shadows, do I not need to see his face to recognize him, thanks to the way that the shadows show both his form as well as his hair actually being on fire. Yet the camera then turns to the right and proves he is not alone.
Next to him another person I know and loathe from a Disney movie I once watches is standing, this one too clouded in shadows, yet just by the staff he holds in his hand if not the sound of his voice, do I know who it is as he says: "Such is the power of the Keyblade. The child's strength is not his own." And the camera goes on, passing him.
Yet while the next person is female, one who seems to have tentacles for legs, do I still grimace at the sound of her voice, especially her laughter halfway through her own statement of saying: "Why don't we turn him into a Heartless? That'll settle things quick enough." And the camera goes on to another familiar bastard, this one having a hook where his hand should be.
"And the brat's friends are the king's lackey." At this the camera focuses back on Sora, Donald and Goofy as the bastard says: "Swoggle me eyes, they're all bilge rats by the look of them." Yet while I don't actually recognize the next voice, do I by now just really worry for why on earth this group is together in one place.
"You're no prize yourself." The next person laughs, yet even his silhouette doesn't ring a bell with me or the fact that he actually seems scared as the man he insulted threatens him with his personal weapon. Yet then the voice of the horrid woman I saw twice before now speaks and they all turn to her as she says: "Enough."
And while she speaks, does the camera turn to her, her visage clear in sight instead of covered in shadows like the other ones. She speaks and says: "The Keyblade has chosen him. Will it be he who conquers the Darkness? Or will the darkness swallow him? Either way he could be quite useful." And that is the last straw for me.
"You and your bastards leave my brother alone, you blasted witch!" I snarl, furious at this woman for thinking she can use my brother, but also terrified at the idea that my brother is going to be facing all these horrible people, as I know only too well what they are capable of and what they accomplished in their own respective worlds and movies.
I then turn to my brother and Sora says: "I did face them all, but only one at a time and only at the end of each world. I also only faced the second one first and that was only after I traversed through the three worlds that I mentioned earlier. I did meet the first one in one of those three, but didn't face him, at least not yet."
And this is what I need to hear above all others as dad asks: "Are they really that serious?" To which I answer: "The first kidnapped and tried to kill an infant god, the second stole a genie and enslaved an entire country, the third tricked a mermaid into selling her soul for a deal that was rigged from the word go.
The fourth is a crazy ass pirate with a lust for a teenage boy's head and the last one – the fact that I don't know who he is just scares me in and of itself." Dad also looks really worried at this, but then he lies a hand on my shoulder and says: "He has friends and they have experience in fighting. And he himself is obviously growing stronger with every Heartless he slays and every world he visits." Making me smile at him in relieved gratitude.
Poor Jessica.
She worries for her brother ever so much and her knowledge of Disney movies is now coming to bite her in the behind. Good thing she has such caring family members. Also, I'm sure you all noticed, but I made Sora the character in the movie and my brother the person sitting with Riku, Sirius and Jessica.
I'll probably do something similar if I change to either Riku or Sirius, but for now, I think I'm going to stick with Jessica, just for a few more chapters. And HOORAY, this chapter didn't take as long as the last one did. It was still quite the chore to write, but with some YT LP help, I think I got this all nice and down pat.
Should I have let Sora faint? Maybe, but I'm still trying to go with HP standards here, not KH. I might do it in a later chapter, but I need to think of one vital thing: "What happens to Sora when he faints? Do his friends pull him out of danger? And what if they faint before he does?" Once I have those answers, I'll implement this.
Care to help,
