Hey everyone,
One more chapter. Just one more chapter and then we are going back to all of our favorite characters. Then we are going to bring James, Lea and Angelina back to Jessica, Sora, Riku and Sirius and I also plan to take Lily along with them as she is long overdue to spend some girl time with her new niece. And more characters to come along later – which is a point where I will start to really add stuff to the chapter.
Get excited,

Chapter 42
Into The Wild
30th of January 1996
Destiny's Haven
Jessica's POV
"One more world. We are only one more world away from our break." Riku mutters and I perk up at this as I have been missing Lea quite a bit, especially now that we are learning about Sora's first adventure. Yet this also makes me realize something and I turn to Sora as I ask: "When is Lea going to show up in this?"
Sora looks shocked and then winces as he says: "Sorry, not until my Second adventure." Which really makes me pout at him as Riku says: "Well, there is a version of him in our next adventure, the one Sora doesn't remember, because of – the events that happened there, but – I'm not sure if you'll like him the way you like Lea."
This really confuses me and Riku says: "It kind of has to do with Heartless, but then different. I guess I can't explain it, seeing as how it will take a while before we get the explanation again and it's been a while since we last explained it." And this sparks my memory and I ask: "Wait, Lea – my Lea – was turned into a Heartless and a Nobody?"
And while dad snickers at how I call my beloved mine, does Riku cringe and nod and I growl: "Whoever did that is –.""Already dead. Sorry, little sis." Yet I shrug and ask: "Did he get send here, to Hades' realm?" But when Sora shakes his head, do I mutter: "Damn, I would've gone to haunt him there if he had."
The others look shocked, yet dad snickers again and says: "It's true what they say. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned." The others nod and while I can clearly hear a sense of experience come from the man's voice, do I ignore it and ask: "So, any warnings I should get before we get to this latest world?" To which Sora shrugs and says: "I don't meet any of the ones from the circle." Which instantly makes me feel better.
We lean back and the movie restarts itself, showing Sora taking a look at what Cloud gave him. "You know, you received an awful lot of items in this world, outside of your usual chests, I mean. The ability to use the thunder element, that pass to the Games and now this? What did Cloud give you anyway?" I can't help but ask and my brother answers:
"The instructions for a wicked new move." And the four of us watch as Sora practices this new move, that he apparently calls Sonic Blade, a few times, causing for him to actually speed from one side of the arena to the other with his Keyblade sticking out in front of him like a sword. Dad whistles as he sees this and we see the gang leave.
Yet instead of focusing on their journey to the next world, does the movie instead show Hercules, flexing his muscles and looking at every angle of the screen. All the while we hear a voice that I have grown to both hate, fear and feel impressed by. Fear for the power of the man whose voice it is, hate for the danger he put my brother in and feel impressed as it sounds as similar to that of his voice actor as the voices of Fred and George.
"He's strong, he's kind. He's always there for you, and he's handsome to boot. He's perfect. Perfect. Perfectly infuriating! He makes me crazy!" At this point the movie shows that we are actually watching Hades looking at an image of Hercules that he conjured in his hand and that he sets on fire as he rants, his hair also bursting into flames.
Dad looks at this shocked, yet I giggle. The others look at me and I whisper: "I'll tell you later. After this." The God of Death calms down, his red and gold skin and hair colors turning back to normal after he is done burning up and actual smoke coming off of his arms as he seems to try and calm himself down. "Wait a minute. What are you worried about? All the pieces are in place. Relax." This really worries me and I bite my lip in concern.
The camera then turns away from Hades only to slowly move back towards him as he says: "Here's what you do. Let Hercules train the kid. In the next games, I'll take care of them both." And the way that he makes a fist and flexes his arms makes me really hope that Phil is going to need a lot of time to clean up the last games.
Yet then Hades looks behind himself, where to my utter horror I see Maleficent standing and the God asks the evil fairy: "Who invited you to the party? Stay out of this. This is my show." At this I turn to my father, brother and Riku and ask: "Am I the only one wondering who would win in a match between those two?"
The others shake their heads and mutter their agreement as Maleficent replies: "As you wish. Fight to your heart's content." And something about that comment actually seems to anger Hades as he turns to her and glares in raging anger at her retreating back. The camera turns dark and then turns back to focus on the Gummi ship.
"Great, does this mean there are going to be more of these? More scenes that show things we don't know happened between the baddies of the world?" Dad asks and I notice Riku grimacing before he says: "Probably, though I don't feel it will take long before we stop wondering what they are doing." Which makes me worry for him.
"So, what was so funny?" My brother asks and I say: "I remember one of the final scenes of the movie. It was during Hercules' battle against the Titans and Hades kept insulting Herc and ordering the Titans. Then suddenly Pegasus, Herc's horse and friend, flies over from behind Hades and blows out his hair. I giggled because of his reaction to that.
Wow, is my hair out? Just that shocked, confused tone of his was so brilliant. And of course I laughed alongside Pegasus, who was laughing on screen at the time." I giggle loudly at the end and the others laugh as well before my brother says: "Yeah, that does sound like how most of Hades' plans go. Like his hair." Making me feel better, especially about the fact that my brother is going to meet this horrible god several more times.
We watch as the Gummi ship flies to the last world that is covered in mist and has a set of stars on the radar screen, but for some reason, when they arrive there, does the movie not show them landing. Instead it focuses back on the radar screen and shows an image of Goofy, who says: "Hey Donald, maybe King Mickey's down there."
But Donald replaces him and quacks: "In a backwater place like that? No way! Let's move on." At this an image of Sora appears and he argues: "Hold on. Riku and Kairi might be down there. Let's just check it out." To which Donald retorts: "Forget it! We're on an important mission!" This angers me and I snap:
"I thought these two were told to find the Key and use it to save the light. Your Keyblade is obviously what they believe to be that key, so why do they think themselves better than you like that?" My brother rolls his eyes and says: "Donald sometimes has ego issues." At this I think back to all the short videos I saw of him on tv at school and mutter:
"Yeah, that sounds about right." Making my brother and dad laugh as the movie goes on. "Just land." Sora orders and Donald snaps back: "No!" Sora tries again: "Come on!" But Donald blows him off: "Aw, phooey!""We're landing!" Sora snaps angrily and the movie actually shows something happening to the Gummi ship.
"Don't touch that! Nooo!" Donald yells, but it seems too late and to my shock, do I see the Gummi ship crash landing on the world that looks like a huge jungle with some kind of broken down tree house to the side and a waterfall at the left bottom cascading water into the universe below it. The three also fall out of the ship itself.
I grip my heart in fear as I notice that Sora is launched away from the other two and actually lands in the tree house shown on the radar screen, falling through a ceiling that already looked a little cracked and ending up in a rundown room with lot of broken furniture and cracked windows against both of the two side walls.
Sora lands on his head and then rolls onto his backside, rubbing the back of his head and moaning: "Oww… My head …." Yet dad just looks at my little brother and says: "Sorry to say this, kiddo, but you got this one on yourself." Sora nods at this and says: "I did, but I did learn an important lesson out of coming here."
Dad looks slightly intrigued with this and we turn back to the movie. Instantly my heart gets logged into my throat as the next scene shows the clawed paw of a, to me, very familiar feline predator, all the while Sora calling out: "Donald? Goofy?" And I think: "Please let him be here. Please let him be here. Please let him be here."
Sora turns just in time to see the jaguar, which I know is named Sabor, try to jump at him and he tries to summon his Keyblade as a means of defense, yet has to jump away from Sabor swiping at him and lands with his back against the wall. Sabor roars loudly and Sora takes up another fighting stance, ready to attack this time.
And to my utter relief does Sora make excellent use of his new ability, using it to both dodge Sabor's attacks and attack the jaguar from the side before dodge rolling out of the way again. He manages to beat the jaguar and make him fall, yet he himself is obviously exhausted from the many times he had to get out of the way from an attack.
Yet when he wants to carefully approach the beast, does this prove to be a mistake as Sabor jumps up and roars verociously. Yet then salvation arrives as, from the broken roof, a man in nothing but a loincloth appears, a large spear in hand. Sora falls back in fright from shock, but the man jumps between him and the attacking beast.
He uses his spear to ward off the jaguar and the beast seems to understand that it's outnumbered as it actually jumps out a window that still has glass panes in it, breaking the glass as it flees. The man turns to Sora and says: "Sabor, danger." Sora still seems a little befuddled and just mumbles a soft: "Um … thank you."
"Thank you." The man replies and I mutter: "This must be just when or just before he met Jane and the Professor." But my brother turns to me and asks: "Jane and who?" Shocking me as I say: "Jane and her father, Professor Porter." But my brother shrugs as says: "Sorry, I only met Jane. Never met her father while I was there."
This really befuddles me, but then I shrug and say: "Oh well, the last world had almost nothing to do with the Hercules movie and seemed to take place after it. I guess it was just Disney's idea of making the Tarzan story a little more his own if he added a character. And let's face it, who lets a young woman traverse the jungle on her own?"
My father nods at this, but then my brother says: "Oh, Jane wasn't alone. Her company was just –." And because I already know who must have accompanied Jane, can I only groan and mutter: "Right out unpleasant." My brother nods, a grimace on his own face and I sigh as I mutter: "Well, Hades was worse, anyway." Making my dad, who had been looking at us in concern, relax.
And we watch as Sora turns really confused and asks: "Huh? Uh, what is this place?" Yet the man only replies by copying him. "This place, this place.""Okaaay … where did the others go? Look, I got separated from my friends. Have you seen them?" But the man doesn't seem to understand a word he's saying, so Sora repeats:
"Friends …." Drawing out the way he says it. This seems to connect with the man and he repeats Sora, even going so far as to put his hands on his heart the same way Sora's doing as he says: "Friends!" Sora gets excited over this and says: "Right, my friends! There's two of 'em. The loud one is Dona –." But here he falters.
My brother also looks at Riku in guilt, but the silver-haired boy shakes his head and says: "What I said to you back then, on that ship, was totally uncalled for. I was jealous and angry and you were right with the warning you gave me. I just didn't want to admit to it, because I felt it would be prove of me being too weak to be there for you."
This makes me share a worried look with my father, who says: "The one thing all Dominant mates hate; to admit that they might not be strong enough to be there for their mates." And we watch as Sora seems to rethink his earlier thoughts and says: "You know what? Never mind. I'm looking for my friends. Riku and Kairi." At this the man replies in question: "Look for Riku, friends?" At which I can't help but ask: "Did he know you had a crush on Riku?"
"I can't say I gave him any indication for that." My brother mutters, but I can tell that he feels a little uncomfortable. I giggle at him and Riku happily pulls him closer as Sora nods, but then suddenly seems to see something behind the man. The camera turns to look over the man's shoulders and all our eyes widen.
"Wait, how was Kairi there?" Riku asks as we see the girl standing behind the jungle man, but my brother shakes his head and says: "She wasn't there. Not really. This has to do with what happened on the island." Instantly Riku seems to get it, but dad and I share a confused look and we just focus on the movie itself.
"Kairi, friends?" The man asks as the camera turns away from him and focuses on Kairi herself. "Uhh … right …" Sora mutters, clearly not paying attention to the man as he notices Kairi, who then turns and walks from one side of the jungle man to the other, yet seems to disappear before she reaches his other side and the man says:
"Friends here." Yet the fact that we just saw Kairi vanish makes me know that the man doesn't mean it in the literal way and so I refrain from asking: "You already found each other?" Instead I just focus on Sora as he turns back to the man and asks: "Really?" Only to get an answer that sounds like nothing short of gibberish.
"X&&X%" Sora utters a sound of confusion and the same gibberish leaves the man's mouth. "X&&X%." But this time he goes on and says: "Friends here.""He's talking gorilla." I mutter and dad looks at me as I say: "Tarzan is the legendary tale of a young baby boy who survived a jaguar attack and was raised by a gorilla family.
It was actually a tale that I could pretty much relate to, because Tarzan himself was only a year old when he lost his folks and he never truly felt like he fit in anywhere, not the jungle life or the human world that he met when Jane and the Professor came to study the Gorillas and tried to get him to come back to England with them.
In the end he decided to stay and he had fallen in love with Jane, who had fallen in love with the beauty that was the jungle world, so she and her father left England and joined Tarzan in his life amongst the gorillas. The story was always really gripping as it proved that you don't have to be the same specie to be family."
At this my own family smiles at me and dad says: "I can see why you liked that movie so much.""Yeah, makes it a shame I didn't get to experience that while I was in here." My brother mutters in annoyance and I laugh: "Doesn't matter. That world just has to be like one giant playpark. I can only imagine the fun you had."
My brother laughs at this and says: "I definitely got a lot of exercise, that's for sure." And with that we watch as Sora says: "Not sure I understand, but show me! Take me to Riku and Kairi!" And finally the man says: "Tarzan. Tarzan go." And while part of me thinks: "That took long enough." Does Sora happily comply:
"And I'm … Sora. Tarzan go, Sora go go!" At this I can't help but chortle and ask: "Really?" But my brother just shrugs and we watch as Sora leaves the tree house and enters the jungle. But as the camera leaves the two standing on the balcony, does it then turn black before focusing on a large meadow with Donald and Goofy in the center.
"Gawrsh, where are we?" Goofy asks, sitting on a large rock that has a slab of moss covering it and having Donald behind him, the duck actually lying down and leaning his head on one arm as if he doesn't have a care in the world, his magic staff resting against the rock at his feet. "I sure hope Sora's okay." Goofy mutters.
"Aw, who needs him? We can find the king without him." Donald exclaims, jumping up from where he was lying down and reaching for his staff. Yet there is something next to the staff and when Donald looks down, he comes face to face with a young gorilla that has a large tuft of purple hair on top of her head, both of them screaming in fright.
The gorilla runs off, yet seems to stop halfway and drop something before running further away. Donald spots this and the camera focuses on it as well. The item dropped looks like a small red cube that has one corner covered in purple and has a few orange bits spread all over it. Yet then rustling is heard in the trees.
Donald and Goofy gulp at this and I think: "Yeah, you don't need my brother, you bunch of wimps." Yet when the camera shows an adult man with a small mustache and a long shotgun in his hands coming out of the forest, do I feel beyond glad that Sora is currently with Tarzan and not these two as I think: "Yep, there he is."
The camera then returns to Sora and Tarzan and Tarzan actually jumps down from the balcony, onto the many nets that are surrounding the air below the entire structure and then actually jumps off of that as well, disappearing into the foliage. Yet the fact that Sora is with him makes me not even worry as the boy follows his new jungle friend.
And as the two travel can I not help but laugh as the world looks exactly like I thought; one big playground park for boys. There are tree tops to climb and run over, large bits of foliage that cover entire areas, empty tree hollows to jump into and even one huge tree that seems to travel through most if not the entire forest.
The tree itself is supported by many other trees growing upward on each side, which have branches both below and above it, making the sliding trip across it into a real par-course journey that make Tarzan and Sora have to jump, slide to each side from time to time and crouch down to avoid most of them, but still get hit by a few.
And when they reach the end and jump down the base of the trunk, do they land in a large campsite that is mostly consistent of trunks and tents, most of them open and showing all kinds of furniture that makes me think: "Did Jane already move in by this point? It almost looks as if she's trying to build a home in the jungle or something."
Sora explores the campsite and actually finds various small cards that hold instructions, allowing him to make up two recipes. He also finds various slides that obviously belong in an old-fashioned camera, meant to show large pictures on an empty canvas and I wonder if this will tie parts of this journey in with the movie after all.
Sora manages to get himself an Ether from a small set of lab equipment set up on a table nearby from where he fell down and manages to get himself a Hi-Potion from lighting a potion on a nearby stove. The two then enter the tent that is in the center back of the campsite and here we meet another new person, who seems to be working.
The person is a woman who looks to be in her early to mid twenties and who Tarzan calls out to. "Jane." He says and the woman responds, turning around and replying with his own name before she spots Sora and asks: "Oh, and who is this?""Uh, hi there. I'm –." Sora wants to answer, but Jane interrupts him and says:
"Oh, you speak English! So then, obviously, you're not related to Tarzan … Are you here to study the gorillas?" And again Sora is kept from replying, this time by the man that was met by Donald and Goofy earlier as he and the other two enter and the man says: "Highly doubtful." Instantly Goofy spots Sora and shouts:
"Sora!" And Sora replies in the same happy shout: "Goofy! Donald!" And while Donald and Sora almost happily embrace each other, do they then seem to remember their earlier conflict and they turn away, both huffing in annoyance. "A circus of clowns. Not much use for hunting gorillas." The man says, indicating the trio.
At this Jane gets angry and snaps: "Mr. Clayton, we're studying them, not hunting them. This is research." Yet then she calms down and turns back to Sora and the others as she says: "Well, the more the merrier." And this sentiment reminds me that we're only a little more of this movie away from getting our own party multiplied in numbers.
I try to contain my excitement over this as I really want to enjoy the adventure Sora is going through and watch as Jane says: "Do make yourselves at home." Yet Sora and Donald still seem at odds with each other and Sora mutters: "Well, anyway … I'm staying." Only to get shocked when Donald actually choruses those same words.
"Sora, look what we found. Look at this." And he shows the group the little red and purple block that the gorilla from before dropped as she ran away. "What's that?" Sora asks and Goofy answers: "A gummi block. It's the same stuff our ship is made from." This really shocks me and I ask: "That ship is made of bits like that?"
My brother nods and while I want to wonder if that doesn't make the thing a little unstable or unsafe, do I take comfort out of the fact that it flew through several roads that had Heartless in them as well without too much damage or trouble and without parts breaking of. I take a strong sense of relief out of this and watch the rest of the movie.
"So that means …" Sora mumbles and Donald exclaims: "The king could be here. So we've gotta work together to look for him." Yet this actually annoys me and I ask: "Oh, so when Sora wants you to help him find his friends, you refuse, but when it comes to finding your king, you expect Sora to help you no questions asked?"
At this my brother rubs the back of his head and he says: "You're probably not going to like it, but – Donald has more episodes like that this journey, all the way to the semi-last world we visited." This shocks me and I think: "That duck better not show up anytime soon once I find out what he did in that world." And so I just focus on this one.
"For now!" Donald actually ends his little tirade, yet Sora seems not willing to just listen to him as he retorts: "Fine. I'll let you tag along for now!" He says, putting the same force behind the last two words that Donald did earlier and I give my brother a proud smirk, happy that he is not going to let Donald just order him around.
And then things get even better as Goofy suddenly says: "You know, I – I think one of us should stay here. And seeing how Tarzan over there seems to know the jungle so well, I think it should be either Donald or I." Donald squaks at this and Sora instantly says: "Alright. Goofy, you're defensive and Tarzan is great with attack.
You and him come with me and then Donald can stay here. Hey, you want me to help you find the king, you do it by my rules. It's because you didn't want to land here that we got separated anyway." And the duck angrily goes over to the bed in the corner of the tent, sitting down and muttering under his breath as he quacks.
"Never piss off a Black, they always get back at you." Dad says, his voice filled with enjoyment and pride and my brother smirks as he says: "This actually isn't the only time I did that. The worlds that came after this all came with an extra guide, but sometimes, they made me feel that replacing Goofy with them was just better."
This really makes me curious for the other worlds, but I just focus on how the movie shows off this one as it focuses on Sora opening a chest that is set in the right of the tent, next to another Safe Circle. From the chest, Sora receives a Mythril Shard, that he puts in his bag before he turns to Jane, who bends down a little and says:
"Apparently Tarzan was raised in the jungle by the gorillas. Communicating with him still isn't easy, but he's learning." At this Sora obviously thinks back to the tree house as he says: "So he was speaking in "gorilla" back there ….""Ah, that's right. You're looking for your friends?" Jane asks and Sora answers:
"He said Riku and Kairi are here. And one word I couldn't understand …." At this the camera focuses on the old fashioned camera, just as Jane suggests: "Why don't we try this? We'll show Tarzan some slides and see if any of them match that word. Oh, what happened to the slides?" She asks, only for Sora to give them to her.
They turn on the projector and show off several slides. One showing a man proposing to a woman with a bouquet of flowers. Another showing a woman wearing a really old-fashioned dress that reminds me of Ron's dress robes. And another showing off a gorilla. Yet the next seems to get a response out of Sora.
It shows off a gorgeous castle covered in clouds that are closing in from both sides. Sora seems to respond to this somehow, as if he recognizes the place and even hums softly. At this Donald asks: "What's wrong, Sora?" But the boy replies: "What? Um … nothing." And by the look shared between my brother and my brother-by-bond, do I know he's lying or at least that he understands this now, even if he didn't back then.
The next slide then shows an old-fashioned sail boat, followed by one showing two fencers getting ready to fight each other in a match. The slide show ends and Jane asks: "Well, Tarzan?" Tarzan turn to Sora, who asks: "Where are my friends? Riku and Kairi?" But Tarzan remains silent and just shakes his head at which Sora mutters:
"Hey, I thought …." But he doesn't get to finish his sentence as Clayton, again, interrupts him and says: "That leaves just one place." The man enters the tent again and while I wonder why he was eavesdropping on them in the first place does he go on: "Young man, we've been in this jungle for some time now.
But we have yet to encounter these friends of yours. I'd wager they're with the gorilas. But Tarzan refuses to take us to them." At this I roll my eyes and think: "That is so like him. It's just like in the movie when Jane was leaving the Jungle and he convinced Tarzan she would stay if she just got to see the gorillas. Honestly."
And Jane obviously shares my sense of disbelief as she says: "Really, Mr. Clayton. Tarzan wouldn't hide –." But Clayton obviously thinks himself above her as he interrupts her and approaches Tarzan as he says: "Then take us there! Take us to the gorillas. Go-ri-llas." He emphasizes the last bit as Tarzan turns from him to Sora.
The two share a look that obviously makes the bond they already have even stronger and Tarzan nods, at which Jane tentatively asks: "Tarzan … are you sure?" And Tarzan replies: "Tarzan go see Kerchak.""Kerchak?""He must be the leader. Perfect. I'll go along as an escort. After all the jungle is a dangerous place."
Clayton smirks as he says this and dad grumbles: "He says this in the presence of a man raised in the jungle? I already had my doubts about him, but now I just know he's bad news." I nod, not wanting to reveal what the bastard did in the movie as I no longer feel sure it will happen in this world as well and just watch the movie go on.
The group of five, Donald actually tagging along as well as he argues that he should be able to go too if Clayton is coming along, head back to where Sora and Tarzan landed and then exit the campsite there. They enter the jungle and reach a lagoon that has several small ponds, one filled with a single hippo, one with two.
Tarzan turns to the group and says: "Follow. Tarzan go." Sora nods and to my shock does the jungle man actually leap onto the hippo, the huge beast only dipping into the water slightly, but not responding otherwise. Sora seems hesitant at this, but Donald, Goofy and Clayton just follow Tarzan's lead and so he follows theirs.
Yet the group can't seem to reach both hippos in the other pond and so Tarzan helps them up two small bits of foliage, the second from which they jump down and manage to reach the second hippo. From there they jump to another small bit of land and there Tarzan points them to a long vine that goes all the way up.
The group climbs the vine, Clayton putting his shotgun onto his back as he climbs and Donald sliding down and landing on Goofy's face a few times before they reach the top. And to my shock, do they actually arrive at the gorilla nest. But while Tarzan goes to stand in front of the group, do I then notice something highly disturbing.
"Where'd Clayton go?" I mutter to myself as Tarzan approaches a huge gorilla standing on top of a branch a little higher up from where Tarzan and the others are and he says: "Kerchak, please listen to me. I know the nesting grounds are secret, but I trust them. You see, I want to help them, because … because … well, they need us."
And suddenly my brother says: "Oh, so that's what he was saying." We turn to him, but then the movie answers for us as Goofy asks Donald: "Did you get that?" And Donald answers: "No." And I think: "Wow, the movie translated gorilla to English to make us understand what Tarzan was asking of Kerchak at the time. That makes sense, the Disney movie did the same, seeing as how it also showed Tarzan growing up within this family."
But the huge gorilla seems to ignore how Tarzan again calls out to him as he first turns his head to the foliage above him and then turns away, the female gorilla that was beside him looking shocked and turning to look at Tarzan in regret before she follows him. "Kerchak." Tarzan mumbles defeated as the two leave and Goofy mumbles:
"He seemed sorta distracted by something.""Was he looking towards the tree house?" Sora asks and Tarzan himself looks there as well before indicating another vine that actually goes even further up. The group of now four climb this vine that leads them to even more foliage to run and jump through and from which they reach the tree house.
There they spot another gorilla, the same one Donald and Goofy encountered earlier, apparently playing with a globe that is located inside the tree house. And while I had been wondering where he went, do I feel a raging fury enter my system when the camera shows Clayton aiming his shotgun right at the poor unsuspecting creature.
Donald rushes over to him and lets out a loud, angry yell that startles the man into firing, but because he throws up his arms as he shoots, does his shot miss the gorilla that rushes away and up to a higher floor up in the tree house. Here the huge gorilla named Kerchak approaches the younger one just as Donald angrily asks Clayton:
"What's the big idea!" And Tarzan walks deeper into the tree house, turning to Kerchak and begging him once again. "Wait, Kerchak. Please!" But the huge silverback turns his back on the group and after Donald and the younger one share a look of regret and understanding, does the purple animal follow her tribe leader.
Tarzan turns to Clayton in anger and like the snake he is, the bastard starts to come up with nonsense and excuses. "You don't understand. I was only trying to … Ah, a snake slithered by, you see. I saved that poor gorilla's life." But Tarzan shows exactly what my father and I are thinking as he shakes his head in clear disbelief.
And under the watchful and angry eyes of Donald, Sora and Tarzan, does the group return to the campsite where Goofy tells the whole story to Jane, Clayton trying to interrupt and tell her his own made-up version. The woman turns furious and turns on Clayton as she yells at him: "How could you do such a thing!"
The man seems adamant to stay with his side the story as he says: "Now, Miss Porter, as I told you, I was not aiming at the gorilla." But Jane proves that she wasn't born yesterday as she snarls at him: "You are not to go near the gorillas again.""All because of one mishap? Come, now …." But then the man finally sees it.
The angry way that everyone in the group is glaring at him, daring him to defy them or argue with them further. The man snickers in discomfort at them and turns around and leaves. And while I wonder how it's possible, does it seem as if he starts up his own spiel that the others can't hear once he closes the tent curtain behind him.
"What am I doing with these imbeciles? Blasted gorillas! I'll hunt down every last one of them! I'll track them down somehow. I'll stake my life on it." And as he says this does he want to put a pipe up in his mouth, only to suddenly hear a rustle in the thick branches and bamboo trees that makes him falter, put the pipe away and grab his shotgun with both hands.
A shot is heard, but the camera doesn't show if he hit anything. Instead it focuses on Sora and the others hearing the shot. They rush out, Donald again being left behind as Jane suddenly says that he should give his throat some rest after all that shouting at Clayton and they head into the campsite and spot something horrible.
A whole group of monkeys that don't look like regular monkeys, but have regular furred lower parts and some kind of ninja costume covering their tops and heads. They are all surrounding a single gorilla, that looks terrified with fear. "Heartless!" Sora yells and the group goes to attack and drive off the huge group.
The gorilla approaches Sora, but doesn't say anything, only gives him another object that looks like a gummi block. Sora thanks her and the gorilla leaves as Sora, Goofy and Tarzan head to the right, entering a familiar meadow. The same happens here. A group of Heartless try to attack a gorilla, Sora defeats them and gets a Gummi block.
This same scenario happens three times more and then the group reconvenes at the campsite and inside the tent where Jane worriedly says: "I do hope Mr. Clayton's safe." And after the group recovers through the safe circle, do they head back outside, where they hear another shot, this one coming from the meadow they had gone to.
They head in there and actually spot Clayton's pipe lying on the same slab of rock Donald and Goofy were on when Clayton found them. Sora tries to approach it, but to all of our shock, does Sabor the jaguar jump out of the thicket, ready for another round. Yet Sora, Goofy and Tarzan proof too much and the beast is defeated.
It falls down and a single tooth drops from his slack jaw, which Sora picks up and puts on a bit of string that he puts in his pocket. "Clever bro. Turning a bit of a trophy into a useful item." I mutter and my brother says: "Yeah, Donald even enchanted it a bit later so it would slightly raise my attack and my defense."
Yet what I also noticed was that, as Sora battled he seemed to have taught himself a new technique just by suddenly learning how to strike back just after Sabor lands a strike at him. The strikes had worried me, but Sora had obviously grown strong enough he became resistant to the strength of the beast and that they hardly damaged him.
Yet while Sora puts the fang in his pocket, does the camera turn dark, only to refocus on the purple gorilla that actually rushes out of the lagoon and through a huge group of monkey Heartless that are roaming the campsite. She rushes into the tent and there she attacks Jane in her fright, knocking the poor woman over.
The two end up against the back of the tent and Jane tentatively tries to get a response out of the gorilla, but it only looks at her before cowering in her embrace again and when a sound is heard that sounds like a gunshot and yet not, does Jane pull the purple gorilla closer, a look of fright showing on her own face as well.
The movie returns to Sora who rushes back at camp and spots the tent flap open. He runs to it and notices that the tent is completely empty. Instantly he and the others run for the other exit from the camp and through the lagoon, up the vine to where they met the gorillas and up the vine that goes up to the foliage above it.
There, locked in a cave created by the entrance to the tree house, they spot Jane and the purple gorilla, who are holding onto each other in fright as there are dozens of monkey Heartless running around all of the foliage. "Tarzan!" Jane shouts, yet Sora's attention seems elsewhere as he notices all kinds of black fruits growing everywhere.
Yet it is one, that is growing on the bark of the tree in the center and is much bigger than the rest, that he focuses on and while Tarzan and Goofy keep the Heartless away from him, does he attack it ferociously with the Keyblade and several Fire attacks. Yet this doesn't seem to do anything and Tarzan growls: "Others first."
Sora rushes for the other four smaller fruits and only a single hit from the Keyblade to each makes them open up, creating gorgeous crystal-like flowers. Sora makes sure not to leave a single small fruit untouched and then returns to the huge one. And finally, after one final strike, does the fruit emit some kind of gas that spreads through the foliage.
The gas doesn't seem to affect anyone there, bar the Heartless that quickly retreat and the foliage holding Jane and the gorilla hostage. The vines retreat, allowing for Jane and her captive friend to be approached by Sora and the others. "Clayton came to the tent and … That's the last thing I remember." Jane tells the others.
"Clayton?" Sora asks in shock, but I don't feel as shocked as this is eerily similar to the scene on the boat of the Tarzan movie, where Clayton finally revealed himself and used the boat crew to take Tarzan and the others hostage. "Gorillas trapped. Terk ran." Tarzan growls, having obviously heard Terk whimper something.
"We must help the gorillas!" Jane exclaims and while Tarzan helps her calm Terk down, does the group instantly rush back to the campsite. There Jane, Terk and Donald stay behind, Donald promising to use a little bit of his magic to keep Terk calm and company. Sora nods at him and he, Tarzan and Goofy head out again.
They move past the meadow into an area that has a lot of cliffs at different heights and angles. And the whole place is just crawling with Heartless that are driving a whole family of gorillas to the back of the cliff side, Clayton standing behind the Heartless with his shotgun in hand, obviously in charge and ready to kill.
The man aims his gun and the camera focuses on the female gorilla that had left with Kerchak earlier, who had looked at Tarzan in guilt as she did so. Kerchak himself tries to jump between, but gets attacked by an army of monkey Heartless. Yet just before Clayton can fully pull the trigger, does Sora run in and shout: "NO!"
Clayton turns to him and the others, actually looking bored instead of angry at being interrupted or stopped. Yet as he stares at Sora and Tarzan, does Kerchak luckily enough guide Kala up the cliff side and out of sight. "Clayton?" Sora asks bewildered, but Tarzan seems to notice something and with a mix of English and gorilla, he says:
"Not Clayton! X&&X%! Not Clayton!" And at this Clayton screams out and aims at the trio. They dodge some of the attacks, yet to my shocked relief, when they get shot, it only slightly damages them and I think: "Wow, people in that universe can be strong enough to survive being shot by bullets. That or Clayton is shooting with empty fodder."
But halfway through the battle, just when Clayton is obviously on the losing side and has his back to the cliffside the same way the gorillas did before, does he try to aim, only to pull his shotgun back up. And as he does, does something huge wreck through the cliffside behind him, revealing a new whole area behind it.
Yet whatever wrecked the cliffside doesn't show itself, or so I think, but then to my shock, do I see Clayton jumping back, actually landing on something invisible and riding it like a horse. "An invisible Heartless? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?" I ask, my fright for Sora and the others now on the same level as when they fought the Cerberus.
And the battle that follows has me constantly worried as Sora does manage to strike at whatever Clayton is riding, but it also moves from one cliffside height to another, jumping with a flexibility that makes it almost impossible for my brother and Goofy to strike at him. Luckily enough the being's movement is equal to that of Tarzan.
Yet this is a problem because that often puts Tarzan in the line of Clayton's fire and I can tell that the jungle man is quickly losing strength. Sora and Goofy share a look and Sora says: "You cover Tarzan where you can, I'll handle Clayton. And try to take out that Heartless if you can too." Goofy nods and the battle goes on, me not entirely sure if I'd rather have Sora battle Clayton or whatever the hunter is currently riding.
And the new strategy proves to work quite well quite quick as halfway through the battle, the invisible Heartless actually weakens enough he is longer able to hold up his disguise. This makes it so that we see him and the lizard like being that is puke yellow with black markings and a twisted tale is one that makes me wish he were still invisible.
Yet being able to see him allows for Goofy and Tarzan to tire the beast out a lot easier and Sora even manages to strike Clayton off of the beast, making it from three fighting two to two fighting one and a one on one between Sora and Clayton. Sora dodges every single bullet Clayton shoots at him, using the Sonic Strike a few times to both dodge the bullets and strike Clayton before he can aim, but is obviously tired as he lands the final strike.
Tarzan and Goofy also manage to strike some more at the beast, but it seems unwilling to continue fighting and reactivates its invisibility. Yet something about this catches my eye and I quickly see why. Clayton tries to get one last shot at the clearly exhausted Sora, only for something weird to flicker and reappear behind him.
The Invisible Heartless seems to have used up the last of its energy trying to turn invisible and flee and so, to my great delight it reappears and falls down, squashing Clayton in the process, the man yelling and screaming as he gets squashed to death by the overbearing weight of the huge beast. A heart erupts from the beast and it vanishes.
"Sora, cure." Tarzan suddenly growls and Sora looks at him. Tarzan repeats his words and with his hand motions for the Keyblade. Sora seems confused and fatigued, but he raises his Keyblade with what looks to be the last of his strength and groans: "Cure." And instantly small leafs fall from his Keyblade giving him new strength.
Sora nods at Tarzan gratefully and Goofy is quick to follow him, sighing in relief as the petals that fall from his shield give him new energy and restore some of the marks left from the creature's attack as well as the few marks left from when the bullets skimmed his skin a few times. Then, slowly but surely, one by one, the gorillas return, most of them coming to stand on various cliff sides and heights around the area.
Kerchak himself approaches Sora directly and puts a large hand on the boy's shoulder – only to actually fling him up and have him land on the cliffside at the very back, of which the wall is covered in tons of vines. The same happens to Goofy and Donald, who had come running just as Clayton got killed by the Heartless.
Tarzan himself just climbs up the vines and then looks back, sharing a look of respect, acceptance and understanding with the huge silverback before Kerchak once again leads the gorillas out of the area, probably back to where Tarzan first met with them. Yet Sora, Donald and Goofy focus on the area behind the cliffside and I really don't blame them.
Two huge waterfalls flow water down a huge lake with mountains on either side, one of them having a small cave that is just to the left of where Sora, Donald, Goofy and Tarzan are all standing, admiring the view. "Tarzan, home." Tarzan mumbles and I can definitely agree with him as anyone would feel home in a place that beautiful.
Sora, Donald, Goofy and Tarzan then head for the cave, which turns out to be a maze of cliffsides, elevated bits of rock to stand on and lots and lots of vines, some to climb up, others to climb from side to side. Sora and the others reach each level of height that is there and encounter several chests that present them with new items.
Then they find an entrance to a deeper part of the cave several stories up and they head in there. Yet before they do, do they hear others approach and to my shock, do I notice Terk carrying Jane on her back as she climbs over to the rest. Jane gets off of the purple gorilla and thanks her as the group enters the deeper entrance.
And the space behind it is even more beautiful than the waterfalls and the lake they saw earlier. A huge tree that has leafs, branches, foliage and vines reaching all the way up to the very top of the cave and that has some kind of glowing circle made of luminescent butterflies at the very center near the bottom of the tree.
"X&&X%!" Tarzan makes the same gorilla comment and Sora says: "This is your home? But that means …." But Tarzan stops him and motions for him to just listen. The camera focuses upward, at the ceiling of the cave that is actually not there as instead, the cave opens up in the sky, showing the top of the tree, vines and blue sky.
But the movie doesn't just focus on that as a strong sound of running water echoes from the top of the cave and Jane exclaims: "The waterfalls … they're echoing all the way here." And to me the sight of this beautiful cave accompanied by the sound of the waterfalls makes all of my worries over the earlier fight wash away from me.
"X&&X%! Friends there. See friends." Tarzan says and Jane explains: "Oh, now I've got it. X&&X% means heart. Friends in our hearts …" At this Tarzan turns to her and says: "Heart." Grunting to show that he agrees with her. "Oh, so that's what it meant." Sora mutters, obviously disappointed at finding out the meaning.
"Friends, same heart. Clayton, lose heart. No heart, no see friends. No heart, no friends" Tarzan explains and I think: "Those words are as deep as the jungle he lives in." As Sora and Donald start to scuffle with their feet and Sora says: "Sorry about what I said." And Donald replies: "I'm sorry, too." And Goofy happily exclaims:
"Yeah. All for one, huh?" And he pulls the two in a happy, but awkward looking hug. The three of them then look at the luminescent butterflies and Sora seems transfixed with them, breaking free from the hug and approaching the swarm. Some of them fly off and start to flitter around everyone, but this reveals something as well.
Another keyhole, this one carved out of the tree itself and somehow being at the center of all the vines. The keyhole is alight, sparkling just like the butterflies did and Sora summons the Keyblade, aiming its tip right at the Keyhole. And just like in Wonderland, does a beam connect the two, followed by a sound of something being locked up.
The light of the Keyhole vanishes, leaving a Keyhole shape on the tree, but only because none of the vines connect anymore, just move and twist around the shape. But as the last bit of light leaves, does another Gummi block, this one looking more like a gem, being green and having other colored spots, drop from the hole.
"A gummi!" Donald exclaims happily, but Goofy mumbles: "But it's sure not the king's." Yet then Terk moves up against Donald, proving she cares for him deeply and doesn't want to see him down. "I think someone has a new admirer." Jane giggles and instantly Donald starts to wave him arms in denial and exclaims:
"No, no, no, no! Daisy would kill me!" And everyone laughs at this as the camera turns dark, showing a keyhole shaped image focusing on Donald's terrified face before it turns dark. My brother also laughs and says: "I think that poor Terk is still waiting on him to come back." And I want to laugh at this, if not for the movie.
It focuses back on the group that was shown after Sora's adventure in Traverse Town. "What drew the Heartless to that world?" One of them, the one with the staff asks and Maleficent answers: "The hunter lured them there. It was his lust for power that was the bait. But it seems the bait was too tasty for his own good." At this another laughs and says:
"Yeah, he got chomped instead." And my concern increases as this is the one I still know nothing about. The man that asked the question of the Heartless then speaks up again and says: "A weak-hearted fool like him stood no chance against the Heartless." And he actually steps out of the shadows, revealing himself.
"Damnit, I knew it. That's Jafar from Aladdin." I think, recognizing the wicked vizier that wanted to use the Genie to rule Agrabah and while a shiver runs down my spine as I remember what he tried with Princess Jasmine when he was temporarily sultan, do I just focus on the movie, hoping against hope he won't meet my brother anytime soon.
"But the boy is a problem. He found one of the Keyholes." At this I hold back a snort and say: "Not up to your usual standards, Jafar. He didn't find one, my brother found two. Guess you're not as attentive as usual. Then again, you didn't recognize the genie when he was in disguise or Aladdin when he pretended to be a prince." And I take great relief out of the fact that the bastard isn't hunting down my brother the way he did Aladdin in the movie.
Yet as the camera focuses on the back of Maleficent and pans out to the top right, showing the two standing opposite of each other, does dad say: "Wow, are those two married or siblings or something?" But while this makes it almost impossible for me not to burst out laughing, do I say: "No, they just like using magical staffs, is all."
And this is indeed true as Jafar is holding a golden staff in his left hand with a snake head on top of which the eyes are made of rubies, while Maleficent is holding a bronze staff with glowing green orb on top in her own left. Maleficent speaks up and replies to Jafar: "Fear not. It will take him ages to find the rest."
The camera then focuses back on the slab between the two, where the pentagram again shows Sora and his friends, the three of them obviously walking back towards wherever their Gummi ship might be located as Maleficent says: "Besides, he remains blissfully unaware of our other plan." And at this the other female voice says:
"Yes, the princesses …" Instantly I worry for Ariel, the mermaid that I know fell victim to this wicked sounding woman. Yet the camera focuses on Maleficent as she happily says: "They are falling into our hands, one by one." She then turns to the side and the camera focuses on the part of the wall that she has turned to.
And to my horror does Alice actually appear out of the shadows of this wall, looking around in confused fright as Maleficent says: "Speaking of which …" Yet this confuses me and I ask: "Wait, Alice isn't a princess. She was the star of her own movie, but not a princess." And as the camera turns dark, does Riku say:
"Maleficent meant another kind of Princess, not one born of royalty. It's part of the adventure, you'll understand in a few worlds from now." I nod and then feel relieved as the movie focuses back on Sora and the others, the whole group bar Terk having returned to the tent and Sora, Donald and Goofy looking ready to leave.
"Well, guess we'd better be going." Sora says and Jane asks: "Where is your ship, anyway?" To which Donald starts to stammer: "Well, uh … not too far." Jane seems to accept this and Tarzan says: "Sora, Tarzan, friends." Making me smile at my brother as the jungle king hands Sora something that look like a keychain.
Sora looks at this intrigued and then attached it to the handle of his Keyblade. To the shock of everyone, does the Keyblade change, the handle getting wrapped up in an orange cloth, the guard surrounding the handle turning circular and turning purple with two spikes at the side of the blade, one on each side of the guard.
The blade itself turns slimmer and gains a bone-like structure. And where the original had two bits sticking out like a key, does this one have five, making it look like the upper jaw of some kind of animal and does it all seem connected through another purple cloth that is wrapped around the very tip of the blade.
"Wait, if you attach new key chains to your Keyblade, it changes form?" I ask in shock and my brother nods as he says: "That and power and abilities. The Jungle King form actually has a longer reach than the Kingdom Key, my original Keyblade, but it doesn't deal as many critical hits, where I deal more damage, than the Kingdom Key.
I actually started collecting key chains after this. Got a new one in almost every world I visited. Though I also lost them every time I was nearing the end of my journey. Either that or I got newer versions that just worked better once I started my second and third journey. The same happened to Riku and other Keyblade wielders."
This all sounds incredible and then suddenly I notice something. Sora, Donald and Goofy notice it to and they look at their feet first that are sparkling blue and then at their hands. "This has to do with those marks we keep finding. I guess we can try the magic of the red ones now." Sora says and Donald and Goofy nod in agreement.
"In one world you receive a lot of gifts and in the next you learn all kinds of new techniques. I'm actually starting to like this journey adventure of yours – bar all those blasted, dangerous super villians that seem to have it out for you." I moan at the end and Riku laughs: "Then it's a good thing we're finally at the break point." And I nod in agreement, my heart bursting with excitement and my inner Kitsune giddy with a need to be with my mate.
Finally, a breather.
So I'm sure you all noticed that there weren't a lot of changes made to this chapter, not that I really think it matters. I also think it only stands to reason that next chapter is going to be all mushy-mushy as it will be completely in the theme of the whole family getting another chance to be reunited for a bit and of course Jessica is going to want and show off her gorgeous new looks to her beloved new mate and celebrate them being betrothed.
But Lea and James will also play another role in the upcoming chapter and that it will revolve around the rest of Sora's journey and how easily it makes Jess worry for her brother. But there will also be other things happening as Lily will practically demand that she and Angelina get to have some girl time alone with her new niece.
All in all, it'll be fun,
